Hey, guys.
Today, I'm here with the Kargo Master Congo Cage Utility Crossbars fitting all 2007 to
2018 JK Wranglers with a roof rack already installed.
So, this is going to be for the JK owner looking to get the most out of their roof rack with
a crossbar that is very easily installed.
So, roof racks are perfect for taking all the items that are inside your cab areas taking
up all of that cargo space, and just putting them on top for whenever you're on the go,
or you're out camping or traveling.
So, if you already have chosen a roof rack perfect for you, with a 2-inch diameter tubing
and you're just looking for the last piece of the puzzle to securely mount up everything
on top of your Wrangler, then these crossbars are definitely gonna be it.
So, this is going to be a great solution if you're looking to mount up anything specific
like a cargo box or a roof rack basket, or really anything that you specifically need
a perpendicular crossbar for.
So, these are very easy to put on and take off whenever you'd like so you don't have
to keep these on here all of the time, giving you some options with your roof rack, and
how you want to set it up.
So, at the moment, these are about $125 on the page, which really isn't bad considering
this is the only option for a universal crossbar that is sold separately from a whole kit.
So, there's a lot of other options for crossbars on the page, however, they do come in a kit
with a full roof rack system that can be a little bit pricey.
So, this is perfect if you're just looking to add some on to an existing roof rack that
already has a couple of crossbars or you're just looking to complete the puzzle like I
mentioned before.
I personally like how Kargo Master does this so you can really set up a rack and set up
a system that works out best for you instead of getting a whole system and not being able
to use one of those parts that you ended up paying for in the long run.
Compared to other crossbars that I have seen, I really think that these are designed very
well.
These are very sturdy and I would definitely be confident carrying my items on this, and
customers really seem to be liking it, considering this has four and a half stars.
Install's going to be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter.
You're only gonna need one tool, and it should only take you about an hour, and most of that
time is going to be test fitting where you want your bars and how you want your specific
items to fit.
So, speaking of the install, let's jump into that now.
The tools that I used for this install were a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and a 3/16-inch Allen
key.
So, the first step to our install is to start installing our clamps.
So, after you have your roof rack all set up, we can go ahead and bolt up our clamps
that are going to be sitting on our crossbars here.
So, now that you're up here, you can pick a place wherever you want your crossbar to
sit, and then you can take the larger clamp and line that up with your bolt holes.
I recommend, since you're not tightening everything down right now, to just flip it sideways.
And we can thread in our bolt, our lock washer, and our flat washer.
So, we do have to put on the clamp for the other side.
So, make sure that you leave everything pretty loose because we can go back and adjust everything
once everything is attached.
So, what I do really like about these is that they are solid metal, making it a very sturdy
point to mount up your crossbar.
They also do have a black powder coat finish on it.
It's a marine-grade finish, so you can ensure that this is not going to rust or corrode
while this is sitting up on your Wrangler.
So, once these are loosely tightened, we can move over to the other side.
What I do wish that these had was a gasket just to stop the metal on metal contact.
However, this is a durable finish so, it doesn't really seem to be a problem to me, but I think
that would avoid it from sliding.
However, we are going to tighten these down in just a minute so they will not slide around.
So, what I am going to do at this point is, kind of, line these up where I want them.
You can really slide them along the rail here, wherever you want them, wherever they fit
best for you.
So, I'm just going to position them evenly across, and then we can tighten them down
just enough to stay in position, so we can attach our crossbars.
So, what I'm going to do now, like I said, is going to just snug these up so they stay
in place.
I'm using a 3/16-inch Allen key, as well as a 1/4-inch drive ratchet.
We're just going to tighten those down.
Make sure your Allen key is all the way in the head of the bolt just because you do not
want to strip these.
They are very easily stripped, especially if you use an impact, so, I would not recommend
that.
So we still want to be able to maneuver them
back and forth, so we can lay our crossbar in this little cup area.
I do actually like that about this because it's going to keep the crossbar actually laying
flat and in a slot so you don't have to worry about it moving around, and then you'll have
another clamp on top of that.
So, we still want this back and forth movement so we can position it and make sure it's laying
flat.
So I'm going to do my best to align it with the other mount on the opposite side.
However, if we do need to move it, we left our bolts pretty loose so we can always go
back and adjust it.
So, now we can lay down our crossbars and see how they fit.
If you do need to adjust it, we left it loose so you can definitely do that, but they do
seem to fit pretty good.
What I do like is that they sit in this little cup here, like I mentioned before.
These are actually pretty heavyweight too, so you don't have to worry about these being
like cheap or bending or breaking while you have all your heavy items on here.
So, I think that these will definitely hold up.
What I also do really like is that this system is actually compatible and universal with
really any 2-inch round tubing here, so you can put this on really any roof rack that
you have that is 2 inches in diameter, and this will work.
However, when you're sticking with the same brand, it is going to work the best, and I
do really think that this has a good fit.
The only thing that I would've liked to seen out of Kargo Master is just a rubber gasket
here to avoid this metal to metal contact.
But that's something that you could always add in the long run, and I really don't think
that it's a huge problem or a huge con to it.
So, now we can take our clamps and clamp it over our mounts to mount them in place.
So, what we're going to do is just loosely tighten this like everything else, and then
at the end, we can go ahead and just tighten everything down.
So, now we can move to the other side and secure the other side.
Now, we can go ahead and tighten everything up since everything is in place.
All right, this one is tightened up.
We can do that for the rest of all.
You wanna make sure that you're tightening these down evenly, just to make sure everything
is solid.
Like right here, this clamp, tighten down.
And this one is sticking up a little bit, so we're just going to even that out.
