Adidas is re-releasing a bunch of Ultra Boosts, Jordan and Public School are dropping a pack

of 12s, Puma and Rihanna are linking up for a new training sneaker and more.

This is the Release Roundup for the weekend of July 1st.

New Balance and DTLR are celebrating Independence Day with the Stars and Stripes New Balance

990v4.

The sneaker features a patriotic mix of navy suede, grey mesh, red, white and blue accents,

an American flag hit on the tongue and and a Stars and Stripes script on the foot beds.

It is available now exclusively at DTLR at a retail price of $180.

If you missed out on the Triple Black Ultra Boost 3.0, the Trace Cargo Ultra Boost 3.0,

or the coral reef inspired Parley Boost pack, adidas is re-releasing pairs on Wednesday.

All five sneakers will be available at more locations this time around but numbers will

still be limited and demand will still be high so do not expect an easy cop.

Release date is June 28th with retail prices ranging from $180 to $200.

Jordan and Converse are dropping a two pack of sneakers on Wednesday that pays tribute

to Michael Jordan's early years.

The pack is dubbed the 2 that Started it all pack and features a UNC color way of the Converse

Fastbreak and a PE color way of the Air Jordan 2.

MJ wore a couple different Converse sneakers at UNC and the Fastbreak is said to be his

favorite Converse sneaker of all-time.

The Air Jordan 2 in the pack is inspired by a player exclusive pair that MJ rocked while

playing in UNC alumni games in 86 and 87.

Release date for the pack is June 28th at a retail price of $300.

Public School and Jordan are linking back up to release three premium Jordan 12s on

Wednesday.

All three color ways are regional exclusives with the Wheat pair exclusive to New York,

You will only be able to cop through the Nike sneakers app and you have to be in one of

the three cities at the time that pickup locations are announced on the app.

Nike is dropping two summer inspired Air Max sneakers on Thursday as part of the Summer

Scales pack.

The pack features an Air Max 95 that features a mix of off-white snakeskin-textured leather,

smooth white leather and a white sole and an Air Max 97 that features the same mix of

off-white snakeskin-textured leather and a white sole.

Release date is June 29th at a retail price of $170 each.

Puma and Rihanna are linking up to drop two colorways of their new Fenty Trainer Hi.

The sneaker is a follow up to the first version that dropped last year and features a mix

of premium leather, mesh, a midfoot strap that features Fenty and Rihanna branding,

360 lacing, and Puma Ignite cushioning.

The collab is dropping in Sesame and Cypress colorways on June 29th at a retail price of

$190.

Nike's new Zoom X cushioning is finally making its retail debut with the release of

the Nike Zoom VaporFly 4%.

Zoom X technology was originally unveiled back in May during Nike's Breaking2 race

by way of the never-to-be-released Zoom VaporFly Elite.

The Zoom VaporFly 4% is dropping in two colorways that both feature Flymesh uppers, dynamic

archbands in the midfoot, and ZoomX Foam that features an embedded carbon fiber plate.

The Ice Blue and Blue Fox VaporFly 4% are dropping on July 1st at a retail price of

$250 each.

The Jordan 5 returns this weekend by way of Flight Suit Air Jordan 5.

Although there were rumors of a Raging Bull Air Jordan 5 re-release, those rumors turned

out to be false because this is the actual release.

The Flight Suit 5 features a full red suede upper with a matching red and black midsole,

a silver reflective tongue, and an icy outsole.

The sneaker is inspired by the iconic Jordan Flight Suits of the 80s and 90s.

Release date is July 1st at a retail price of $190.

The Public School Air Jordan 12 Pack

By its own standards, Jordan Brand is having an off year with GR retros sitting on shelves

and going on sale.

Two things that were unheard of only a couple years ago.

This year's Jordan collabs have been fire though and the Public School 12s are continuing

that wave.

All three colorways are dope and even though a lot of heads are going to be cut out of

the release, the regional release strategy is at least innovative.

Debian 9 Stretch Xfce review - The Best Xfce distro! - Duration: 8:42.

Most users claim that Debian is a server distribution and I largely agree with that.

However, I believe that Debian can also be a great desktop distribution

if it is used with the XFCE desktop environment.

Actually, I think Debian is the best XFCE distribution.

Debian 9 Stretch has just been released.

So, let's review Debian 9 Stretch with the XFCE desktop.

Hello everyone, It's Average Linux User

helping you to install, configure and use Linux.

After 26 months of development a new Debian stable release is ready.

It is version 9 with code name Stretch which will be supported for the next 5 years.

Debian releases do not happen often.

There is no defined schedule and releases happen when a distro is ready.

So, the release of Debian 9 Stretch is a big event.

Debian is probably the most stable and reliable distro out there.

Packages come to Debian only when they are well tested and have almost no bugs.

That is why Debian is one of the best server distro.

There is one drawback however.

Because of a long testing period, Debian Stable has quite obsolete packages.

And usually desktop users do not like that.

However, I think Debian Stretch XFCE can be a great desktop distribution.

Why Xfce?

Debian 9 Stretch comes with the most popular desktop environments such as

GNOME, which is the default desktop in Debian,

Xfce, KDE, Cinnamon, MATE, LXDE.

GNOME, KDE, Cinnamon are very actively developed desktops and if you use them in Debian they

will be way too obsolete and lacking many features.

There are better distros for these desktops.

For example: Fedora/Ubuntu for GNOME,

KDE Neon for KDE Linux Mint for Cinnamon

Ubuntu MATE for MATE.

However, among all these desktops, I think Xfce is worth considering.

Xfce fits quite well the concept of Debian – stability is the number one priority.

Debian 9 comes with Xfce 4.12, which is the latest Xfce version.

Xfce is not updated often.

So, having Xfce 4.12 will be actual for the most of the Debian 9 support time.

It will be the same Xfce you would use in any other distributions.

On the other hand, such desktops as GNOME and Plasma 5

are already obsolete at the time of Debian 9 release.

Xfce is not fancy but it is a full-fledged desktop and it is very lightweight.

Debian 9 Xfce install is also quite light.

There are no many packages pre-installed.

This combination of small number of installed packages and light desktop environment makes

Debian 9 Xfce in my opinion the best distro for old hardware.

I actually use it on my 6 years old laptop.

It was Debian Testing for about a year and now I transitioned it to Debian Stretch.

It has been only positive experience.

Debian 9 Xfce provides actual desktop in extremely stable distro.

I am fine with some applications being old, and if I need more recent version of a program,

I can install it from the backports repository.

The backports repository provides a way to install Debian packages from the Testing branch,

which is more recent, into the stable branch.

Thus, I think Debian 9 Xfce is a valid desktop distro.

I think I should mention that this is not default XFCE look of Debian,

I installed Arc theme,

added Wisker menu

and moved the panel to the bottom.

Now, let's have an overview of new things in Debian 9 Stretch.

If you tried Debian before, you may recall such programs as Iceweasel and Icedove.

These two apps looked like Firefox Web browser and Thunderbird mail client

but had strange names and icons.

I remember trying Debian first time and I was pushed away

by seeing these names instead of familiar Firefox and Thunderbird.

I believe many new Debian users felt the same.

Debian re-branded these two apps to escape Mozilla trademark requirements.

Luckily, re-branding is not necessary anymore and Firefox and Thunderbird return to Debian

with the release of Stretch.

Firefox is installed by default and I additionally installed Thunderbird.

Debian Stretch is claimed to have greatly improved support of the UEFI (Unified Extensible

This is very good because almost every new computer comes with the UEFI now.

There are also some security improvements,

but it is probably mostly important for system administrators and those working in security-sensitive environments.

The X display system no longer requires root privileges to run.

Debian Stretch features the modern branch of GnuPG, which stands for GNU Privacy Guard

an encryption software.

Regarding the updated software, Debian 9 provides: Kernel 4.9,

which brings improvements to different file systems, especially Btrfs,

as well as driver updates and improved support for newer hardware.

There are more than 51,000 other packages available in Debian 9 Stretch.

Another update worth mentioning is that there is also a new method for naming network interfaces.

If you have seen before network interface names like eth0, eth1,

now you will see something like these: ens0 or enp1s1

To mention some cons, Debian release team has decided to postpone its implementation of Secure Boot.

It is important feature for some users.

It prevents unsigned code from running at boot, but I am fine without Secure Boot.

If you want to install Debian, Debian Stretch supports almost all architectures.

If you have a good wired internet connection, use a Network install image.

If your internet is slow, you better use a DVD image.

And if you have a wifi card that require non-free firmware,

use unofficial images which includes non-free packages.

If you simply want to try Debian 9 Stretch without installing it,

you can use a live image.

But I do not recommend using the Live images for installation.

I have seen people having problems with this approach.

The Debian team has updated its live images and they should work fine now.

Nevertheless, if you decide to install Debian, it is better to use the actuall install images.

The variety of all these Debian images is confusing,

but if you carefully read Debian wiki, you will find want you need.

If you currently use Debian 8 Jessie, you should have no problem with upgrading to Debian 9.

Everything should be automatically handled by the apt-get package management tool.

However, before upgrading consult with the release notes for possible issues,

and the installation guide for detailed instructions on upgrading.

Overall, it seems like there is no much new things in Debian 9.

But this is how Debian is developed slowly but reliably.

The Debian project's key strength is that it's a fully community based distro.

It's development direction is driven solely by users.

There will never be any rapid unpredictable changes as we have seen it in the distribution

with commercial companies behind.

And remember Debian is the father of many Linux distros.

Without Debian there would be no such popular distros as Ubuntu, Linux Mint and elementary OS

to name a few.
