Today on Beloved Women
When we believe the suggestions and lies of the enemy God becomes less appealing to us.
We no longer see Him as a good father who wants to protect, but as a stumbling block
to what we want and we quickly fall into the lie that our plans and desires for our lives
are better than what God has for us.
So we take matters into our own hands, we eat the fruit, only to realize, we've been
deceived.

When we know the truth we cannot be deceived by the lies of the enemy.
We see the enemies first attack against mankind in the Garden of Eden.
"Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God
had made.
He said to the woman, "Did God actually say, 'You shall not eat of any tree in the garden'?"
And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden,
but God said, 'You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden,
neither shall you touch it, lest you die.'"
"For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like
God, knowing good and evil."
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the
eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and
ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate."
Genesis 3:1-3, 5-6 ESV
Satan's scheme starts with a suggestion.
"Did God really say . . . ?" The enemy might not outright confront you with a lie
but he will suggest you away from the truth.
With this one question, we see Eve's belt of truth slowly unraveling.
She responds that yes God did say that they should not eat from the tree, but she also
adds, we are not even to touch it.
God never said that.
When the serpent sees that Eve isn't secure in the truth regarding God's direction concerning
this tree, he goes in for the kill:
But the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die.
For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like
God, knowing good and evil."
- Genesis 3:4-5 ESV
So his first tactic is to lure her away from the truth, "Did God really say?" all for
the purposes of luring her away from God.
He plants seeds of mistrust in her heart.
Yes, God told them not to eat of the fruit but the enemy tells her it's because He's
keeping something from her, God is holding something back from her.
That was not true.
As she started to believe the lie that God no longer has her best interest in mind, she
sees that the fruit is good instead of trusting that God was good.
Lies alter our vision and prevent us from walking by faith and trusting God.
When we believe the suggestions and lies of the enemy God becomes less appealing to us.
We no longer see Him as a good father who wants to protect, but as a stumbling block
to what we want and we quickly fall into the lie that our plans and desires for our lives
are better than what God has for us.
So we take matters into our own hands, we eat the fruit, only to realize, we've been
deceived.
That relationship, that business deal, that desire we pushed God aside to fulfill turned
out not to be as pleasing as we thought it would.
We're left empty and confused because we believed the lie that God doesn't know what
He's doing, He holding something good from us, and we need to get it on our own.
Do not be deceived Beloved.
Do not untie your belt of truth.
Stand Firm on whom you know God to be in your life and not what you see in this world.
We walk by faith and not by sight.
This world and everything in it is but a vapor but God Word will last forever.
The more that we grow closer to God and keep our eyes on Him, the more we will secure ourselves
from the unaltered, unchanging truth of God.
To conclude what we've learned today here are 3 ways the truth protects us:
First, the truth disarms the enemy.
He's not going to be obvious in his attacks.
He will scheme and deceive to trick us away from God.
But truth brings us closer to God.
Second, truth keeps us from worldly temptation and sets us apart for God's good purposes.
We cannot grow to become more like Christ without the truth.
Last, the truth sets us free.
Jesus says:
So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, "If you abide in my word, you are truly
my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
- John 8:31-32 ESV
Once we know the truth, we are set free from the lies of the enemy.
This means we can't just have the belt, it must be fastened.
It's not enough to know the truth we must believe it.
When we put aside truth we open ourselves up for the oldest attack in the book.
The enemy does not even have to touch you with this one, not a blow or even a smack
to the face to harm you.
One lie can have you spiraling out of control.
If he can simply untie that belt of truth all of your other armor will quickly unravel
and you will be left completely open for attack.
So tie that belt of truth tight by trusting God, not man or things.
Believe He is whom He says He is and will do what He says He will do.
Every day we battle the lies of our enemy but be encouraged knowing no matter how much
he schemes, tricks, and deceives this truth still stands:
"He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
- 1 John 4:4 ESV

So Christ literally gives us His very own righteousness.
When it comes to our armor, we are to put on the breastplate of righteousness.
How do we put on the breastplate of righteousness?
We place our faith in Christ.
Because we can't believe in our own righteousness but when we place our faith in the work of
Christ we are covered.
