The Historical Moment That Showed The Huge Importance Of Body Language - Duration: 4:25.

Although you probably have your whole life listening speak, to a greater or lesser extent, of language

body, this was not always the case. There was a historical moment that revealed that communication

non-verbal can become decisive, From that moment on, he began to investigate

deeply on the subject. I am Sandra Burgos and today I'm going to talk about that historical moment

so curious

The historical moment that made it clear that the body language is decisive was the

political debate between Nixon and Kennedy, in 1960

This debate took place at a time when many families began to have televisions

at home. So, around half of the population of the United States followed

this debate on television, while the other half followed him through the radio.

The debate is very illustrative, I will leave you a link to the video of the debate in the box

information in case you're curious

On the day of the debate, Kennedy felt very all right. He agreed to put on a little

of makeup, so that he looked tanned, healthy.

Instead, Nixon rejected makeup, not He liked the idea of being made up. Y

also, because of the intensity of the spotlights that pointed directly at it, started

to sweat a lot.

The result was that Nixon looked more uncomfortable, less healthy, paler and nervous.

And Kennedy was more relaxed, smiling, tanned and healthy looking, and his posture

body was more upright and confident.

The interesting thing of this historical moment was what happened with the polls after

the debate. The vast majority of people who had listened to the debate on the radio

they were convinced that Nixon had won. And most of those who followed him

on television they claimed that he had won Kennedy

This moment was decisive when generating interest in non-verbal communication, because

it appreciated the enormous impact that could have in really important decisions, like

may be the election of president in the U.S.

From this event, they fired the investigations around elements like

body posture, tone of voice and facial expressions

Upon beginning to investigate, it was discovered that around 93% of our communication is

non verbal.

This is very important because when we have an important event like an exhibition

orally or an interview, we worry about a heap for what we're going to say. And often

we forget all that 93% communication that will be really vital when it comes to

achieve the goal we pursue. The way we sit or sit down

foot, our gestures and facial expressions, the tone of our voice, our movements ...

Now check out the comments section and tell me if you were aware that the language

body could have such a big impact. Have you ever checked on your own skin

the determinant that can be the non-verbal communication? Tell me everything

in a comment.

how deaf am i? [CC] - Duration: 5:04.

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to The Essential Sign!

*Hearing aid chimes*

*Hearing aid whistles*

I'm Chrissy and today

I'm doing a question and answer video about deaf related topics

and me.

I feel a little bit narcissistic, but whatever

I'm just gonna go ahead and start this video

Okay so most of the questions that I got are from Instagram.

So the first question is,

"How do you communicate with the outside world?"

hmm

So... I don't really communicate with the "outside world"

I live on earth.

I'm from Earth.

And I communicate with people from Earth.

So hmm...

But seriously how do I communicate?

Well with deaf people we can communicate with ASL and with hearing

people I can write things down or I can voice back to communicate if the hearing

person can sign then they will, it depends who I'm communicating with.

But typically,

I can always communicate with anyone.

Okay on to the second question

So I get a bunch of different versions of this question,

but the main point that they're all asking is..

Where do I place myself on the deaf spectrum?

So where am I

on the deaf spectrum between being completely hearing and profoundly deaf?

The simple answer is that I'm on the far end of the deaf spectrum.

So, let's explain this using

an audiogram.

So, imagine the audiogram.

So hearing people tend be in this top range and can hear everything from 0 to 30 decibels(and above).

Typically that's hearing people.

Then if you move down, to 30 to 80 decibels

This is typically the area hard of hearing people fall under.

Growing up the most I could hear was around 80 decibels,

but my hearing loss is progressive and it went

down, so the most I can hear now is a around 100 decibels.

For people below 80

decibels, they typically identify as Deaf.

So, where am I? I'm further toward the Deaf end of the spectrum.

Like really deaf.

I don't hear s@*T.

That's your answer.

Okay so the next question someone asked is asked, is they what to do...

They don't know how to identify themselves, they don't know if they're

hard of hearing, deaf, or partially deaf.

That's up to you!

My advice is if you

can communicate with hearing people fine,

maybe miss some things, but are generally fine,

then that's hard of hearing.

If you try to communicate with hearing people and

are missing a bunch of things and struggle a lot to communicate with those hearing people,

it's probably best to identify as deaf, but that is completely

up to you.

Okay. So somebody asked me how to find their

local deaf community because they're learning ASL online and want to fully

emerge himself to pick up more signs.

My advice for you is to

open up your computer go

online and look at Facebook.

Facebook is the best place to find the deaf community.

I hope you find something! Good luck!

Okay now last things someone asked me.

How to not feel shy about sharing their story and it's their experiences and whatnot.

My personal opinion-

Your s@*t's valid.

I want to see it!

Share your content, your experiences, your background,

your life, etc.

That s@*t's important.

I value seeing other deaf and

hard-of-hearing people share their personal life stories!

So link me please!

Finished! You guys had some really interesting questions!

Thank you so much!

Please like share and subscribe to my channel! Thanks for watching!

bye
