GOOGLE Pixel 2's best feature just got a major upgrade and owners of the flagship Android
device are going to be very happy.
The Pixel 2 was released back in October and introduced a radically improved camera from
the original.
The smartphone's single snapper was capable of capturing some of the best photos on a
mobile device ever.
While rivals such as the Huawei P20 Pro have since introduced triple camera systems and
new sensors, the Pixel 2 still takes incredible photos.
But owners of the Pixel 2 can now harness the Moment Pro Camera app on the Google Play
Store to take incredibly detailed shots.
The app is taking advantage of Google's own Pixel Visual Core technology that lets the
app fully utilise the tech giant's HDR+ mode that allows pictures on the Pixel 2 to come
out incredibly crisp.
Google was praised for combining a trio of great camera hardware, software and its signature
machine learning capabilities to produce fantastic photos with Pixel 2.
The new feature means users can take advantage of the functionality offered by the Moment
app while also being assured they are taking shots with the same level of quality as they
would in the native camera software.
Prior to the update, users could not be completely confident third-party camera apps would fully
take advantage of Google's custom hardware.
The Moment Pro Camera app launched last month and promises to give users "full manual control"
of any photos they take.
Pixel 3 is expected to up the camera ante again with leaks suggesting the device will
keep a single sensor on its rear but radically refine its hardware and software.
While the Pixel 3 was presumed for an October announcement, notable leaker Evan Blass recently
declared Google will hold a hardware event towards the end of the year to announce a
host of new products.
