Does the aether exist? - Duration: 8:11.
Is the cosmic microwave background a special frame of reference?
This question is not that easy to answer.
I want to split the answer in parts.
Firstly I want to explain want is actually a reference frame,
what is a special reference frame,
what is the background radiation,
and is it possible that this background radiation is a special reference frame?
A frame of reference:
A reference frame is a frame within I can observe physical force, fields, movements.
It can be for example a coordinate system, one like this here, the 3D space
I also can put myself into the origin of this frame
and say that I am at rest and the world is passing by me
As an example I could stand along the roadside and observe a car crash
I saw that a car crashed into a trash bin.
I definitely saw how the car hits the trash bin.
Now the car driver can exit the car and say:
"That trash bin, it approached ME! It crashed into me!"
Now I say: "No, no trash bins are not used to trash into anybody!
The trash bin was a rest. You hit it!
What is now a correct or a false statement? Who is right here?
Me, who observed it or the car driver?
Because they've been telling that: "I am at rest in my own frame! I havn't moved. The trash bin moved"
One can see that in different reference frames, different observations could have been made.
So, what is actually a special frame of reference?
That is a reference frame where the laws of physics
have the same form and the light speed is a maximal velocity, in all those frames.
Those reference frames are also called "inertial reference frame".
They are all equal, that means in all of them ...
.. In every frame which is also an inertial frame the same physics is happening and ...
one can transform one ... one inertial frame easily in another.
An inertial frame of references is a frame that moves at constant speed or is at rest.
There are no rotations and there are no accelerated motions.
Now lets move on to normal reference frames,
where rotations as movements and accelerated motions are permitted.
In those, so-called 'fictitious forces' can be observed.
'Fictitious forces'? What's that?, never heard of anything like a fictitious force.
So, we experience fictitious forces every day in our daily life
For instance, 'THAT' force which brings us back down to earth,
we are constantly accelerated with 1'g' in the direction to the center of the earth.
The so called 'gravitational force' which keeps us at the ground is also a fictitious force!
Another example for a fictitious force is the centrifugal force.
Let's assume we are sitting on a carousel.
If the carousel is not moving we are not experiencing any type of 'special' force acting on us.
But if the carousel starts to spin, we immediately experience a force which pulls us out.
... that's THE centrifugal force,
this force only appears because our bodies are 'inertial',
that means that the body resists the change of direction,
that means my body wants to go with constant velocity to one direction but is re-directed,
therefore it experiences a force, the so called 'centrifugal force',
which pulls it perpendicular to the direction of motion.
Ok, we have discussed now reference frames and special reference frames.
Where does all of this lead to?
There we arrive at a concept called 'Special Relativity'
which states that inertial frames are equal
and the light speed is finite, a finite speed for information transfer.
Long ago, before Albert Einstein postulated this idea,
people thought that light needed a transmission medium
like sound waves have the air as transmission medium; water waves, the water.
They thought light must also have such a transmission medium
and they had the idea that this is the so called 'Aether'.
Now, if so, there would be this Aether acting into this direction
and the earth orbiting the sun
Now one should measure a difference in velocity of the earth compared to the Aether.
That was attempted in the Michelson-Morley experiment.
And what was found out? NOTHING!
One was not able to measure any difference in the velocity of the earth relative to the Aether
One might have thought that maybe those two velocities exactly cancele out at the moment of the measurement.
Therefore the experiment was repeated at a different time a year and many more times,
and a velocity of the Earth relative to any type of Aether was NEVER found.
One had imagined the Aether as a cosmic, overall standing, reference frame .
... and this was not found ...
and it was not possible to prove the existence of this 'Aether'
as Albert Einstein postulated his Special Relativity
shortly after this experiment was carried out without using the Aether,
that means that he refrained from including an universal special frame of reference
And he postulated that all reference frames are equal
all inertial frames are equal, and the light speed in the maximum velocity of information transmission.
Now, is it that important?
I mean, it does not matter if light speed is absolute and the maximum possible, right?
No, it does matter!
Because if the light would not have a finite velocity
and if I returned to our example at the roadside with the trash bins,
then I would know, then I would see that the car crashes into the trash bins even before the accident took place.
So, concepts such cause, effect, causality would not exist.
Why is that important for our question if the cosmic microwave background is a special frame of reference?
What is now the background radiation?
The background radiation is simply a snapshot of the photons
which had exactly that time ... the age of the universe ..
which had exactly the time to travel from shortly after the 'Big Bang' to us
Because the light speed is the finite velocity of propagation
that means it needs a certain time to arrive here
The CMB are the first photons which arrived to earth, and we made a picture of them
the winners of the cosmic race.
Now, is this frame, the CMB, a special reference frame?
No.
The cosmic microwave background is
can be used as a preferred reference frame, but is not a special frame.
It is equal to all other frames.
One can equally state "OK, I am measuring everything and take the background as a reference frame"
or "I am measuring everything and put myself into the origin of that coordinate system"
Both possibilities are equal!
The microwave background is NO COSMIC, OVERALL STANDING, SPECIAL REFERENCE FRAME
because we found out before that in the framework of Special Relativity
no reference frame is more special than another
and that the light speed is the maximal velocity in all these frames.

Muv-Luv Interview with Creator Koki Yoshimune - Duration: 14:17.
Hello everyone. I'm Giuseppe Nelva from DualShockers.com
And recently, I went to ixtl's headquarters in Akihabara, Tokyo
to interview Muv-Luv creator Koki Yoshimune.
If you're curious about what he said on the franchise and its future
Keep listening because there is a lot on the menu.
Muv-Luv Extra and Muv-Luv Unlimited are quite unique
as they completely pull the rug under the player's feet
with a radical change from a romantic harem story
to a tragic sci-fi saga.
Was this planned from the beginning?
Or is it an idea that came during development?
With the way I create games, of course there have been elements that I added later.
The concept for this kind of production is similar to directing a movie.
We create a storyboard, plotting the story.
While there are some things that were added later, others were there from the beginning.
In particular important story points, like the death of a character or things like that.
Those were on the storyboard from the start.
One of the interesting elements of the Muv-Luv world
is that the military technology is fictional, but it remains very grounded in reality.
The TSF feel like they could really exist
and they're even named after real-world fighters,
What inspired you to make this choice?
Muv-Luv is a story about young people growing up.
It was created targeting the Japanese younger generation.
To convey to that generation a message about trying hard and fighting,
we painted a realistic setting close to the familiar situation of Japan in the real world.
We also included the relationship between Japan and the U.S. inspired by real life, and a realistic depiction of the military.
I thought I could make fiction feel more real and compelling by depicting it that way.
The Japanese TSF are different as they're the only ones that are not named after real-world fighters.
What inspired this choice and their design?
The reason why Japanese TSF aren't inspired by real fighters
is that after Japan lost World War II,
the Japanese government has not designed its own military aircraft.
We developed our own fighter as a collaboration project with the United States, the F-2.
This is also one of those cases in which the story reflects the reality of Japan,
as Japanese TSF have been developed by using American technology.
As for the design related to each generation,
there are many famous mecha designers who worked on Japanese anime rooted in otaku culture
like Kazutaka Miyatake, Masami Oobari, and Mamoru Nagano.
We respectfully took inspiration from them as a theme for each generation.
Could you describe the creative process behind the design of the BETA?
They're definitely one of the most terrifying alien races that I can think of in fiction.
They're actually disgusting, aren't they?
We created the design so that as humans, viewers would feel instinctive revulsion.
For instance their bodies include parts similar to human limbs.
I thought this was an important element.
A relevant thing we kept in mind is that they were created as tools to gather resources
but they're still carbon-based life forms like humans.
Conversely, the BETA wonder whether human beings are actual living beings or not.
In Muv-Luv this contrast creates a question on whether they're original creatures at all.
To achieve that I think it was important to have these similarities in their design.
Is it difficult to handle a setting that is basically split in two
between the Unlimited world that has its own timeline and events,
and the alternative world that alters those events considerably?
From my point of view, it's not so difficult.
We make visual novels in which there is the chance that the routes branch off and so does the story.
In order for the game to achieve that result without issues,
it's natural that the story follows a structure and design based on that.
Thanks to that it's not really difficult.
For instance, when creating Muv-Luv,
we created the story while keeping in mind what would come after in the sequel.
It's a pretty basic exercise and it's not particularly difficult to achieve this for our story.
ixtl has now taken back control of the publishing of the franchise in the west.
Can we expect as a result a change in the pace of the localized releases?
Yes, of course.
The entire staff is currently doing their best to improve their localization workflow,
so that one day, future games of the franchise
can be possibly released at the same time in the west and Asia as in Japan,
or at least with only a few months delay. So please look forward to it.
What about the games that have already been released in Japan?
When the timing is right.
Speaking of games that have only been released in Japan,
Will Schwarzesmarken be localized eventually?
It was greenlit on Steam a while ago, but we didn't hear much else since.
Yes. Of course, since I would like to make Muv-Luv into a saga like Star Wars.
There isn't a firm plan yet, but it will be done in the proper order and when the timing is right.
The main issue is probably finding the resources for the localization.
We want to do it, but we'll need to clear the traffic first.
What about Muv-Luv Alternative Chronicles?
About Chronicles,
since the development of the Japanese version is still in progress,
and of course users are waiting for that too,
we'd like to release it with the proper timing, as soon as we have the resources to do so.
Speaking of mobile for a moment, how involved is the staff at âge and ixtl
with the development of Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier by DMM?
Tashiro Hayato is deeply involved in writing the scenario,
and the same goes for the character designers of the original heroines.
We also regularly check all the visual materials, like the mecha and world design
and the game is supervised by a member from âge
In particular, since we want to create something like a saga pretty much like Star Wars,
we can't do anything overly crazy in the main games.
On the other hand, in Strike Frontier we have the freedom to create fun events testing various possibilities.
We created the Strike Frontier with this idea in mind.
What are your ideas on how to expand the franchise moving forward?
Are there more untold stories that you would like to tell within the Muv-Luv universe?
I think there are various possibilities...
I'd like to work on something that goes beyond existing frameworks of video game development.
While we're still working on visual novels for PC,
we like to explore new things and new genres.
For example like what the team did with Muv-Luv VR.
I am excited to be able to have fun with something like that.
I think it would be great to be able to to expand the world of Muv-Luv.
Speaking of that, the Muv-Luv universe seems perfect for a mecha combat action game.
I understand that it would require a significant technological effort,
but have you ever considered letting players actually get into a 3D cockpit
and fly their own missions against the BETA?
Yes, of course it's easy to imagine
a TPS or FPS reproducing the world of Muv-Luv on the screen of your computer,
and a pilot in the cockpit of a TSF fighting against the BETA.
I've been wanting to do something like fighting with TSF for a long time.
There are so many opportunities,
and so many things that might be possible that I'd like to try when the time is right.
When that happens, I would be very happy if the fans supported us.
The trilogy has just been re-released on Steam and is coming to PS Vita.
Are you considering expanding to other platforms like PS4 or Switch?
Yes. We're constantly thinking about the possibility of expanding Muv-Luv in various ways, including platforms.
I'd like to allow as many fans as possible around the world who own different platforms to enjoy our games.
Is there a possibility to see more Muv-Luv anime in the future?
I'm also a huge fan of today's anime, and really enjoy watching them.
Of course, I would like to see more Muv-Luv anime myself.
For example, ixtl is working with Avex Pictures,
and we're making efforts every day in the hope that it'll happen in the future.
I hope that the fans around the world help us spread the word about Muv-Luv
because when the fanbase grows big enough, we'll get closer to achieving our goal of making a new anime.
Many games and anime franchises have their own light novels.
Those almost never get released in the west.
Is there any chance that you would consider releasing the Muv-Luv novels in English?
Of course I would like them to be translated
but it depends mostly on the demand from the fans.
As I mentioned earlier,
translating the novels isn't a simple feat.
That being said, if there are fans that want to help with the translation,
In that case, it might be possible to do something together.
It has been about a year and a half since the latest release in Japan within the Muv-Luv Universe.
Have you been working on any more Muv-Luv projects in the meanwhile?
Yes, since Muv-Luv is like a saga, Currently I'm working on an concept.
For the moment I can't promise that it'll actually work business-wise
but I'm thinking about it in my head.
The idea is about what will happen eighty years after Operation Ouka and the end of Muv-Luv Alternative.
Speaking of the distant future,
we already released a story set a thousand years into the future, titled Kaseki no Uta.
I really admire Isaac Asimov's writing
so I have been longing to write this kind of science-fiction story for a long time.
Since I feel that this idea is continuing to expand
I hope you'll be able to wait patiently for it.
Here is a simple but important one. Can you explain what Muv-Luv means exactly?
"Mabu" in Japanese conveys the meaning of "True".
It's a slang word.
So It means "True Love."
To conclude, do you have any messages for the western fans of the franchise?
Yes! Let's see...
We created Muv-Luv about fifteen years ago,
and it was originally targeted at young Japanese gamers.
I was really surprised and thankful that the series' popularity expanded all over the world,
and that its message is now inspiring the young generations outside of Japan. It makes me very happy.
The Muv-Luv setting itself is not specific to Japan
and its stories can be set in many different regions with many different protagonists.
That's why I am hoping to see talented creators in each nation step forward
to create Muv-Luv stories set in their own regions.
I would like to one day be able to collaborate with young artists and creatives
among Muv-Luv fans from all over the world
in making their own countries' Muv-Luv stories.
Let's do it together! Thank you very much!
Thank you for listening to our special Muv-Luv interview.
As usual, if you enjoyed it, please like and subscribe to help keep us going.

Stress Interview - Duration: 4:39.
Hi. This is bill at billbenoist.com, and in today's video I'm gonna share
with you how to survive the stress interview. And if you are interviewing,
make sure that you stay to the very end of this video, as I do have a free
download, "The top 5 interview questions any hiring manager wants to know about
you" and the best answers to those questions.
So let's face it, interviewing is stressful enough without the added
pressure of worrying about something with the process not going right. But you
truly have to expect the unexpected. Let me give an example: Google, Facebook, Amazon, -
these are companies that are notorious for how long their interview process
takes. For one day, you could be meeting for five or six hours with a number of
different individuals, and they're not coming to you. Once you're on campus
you're actually going to them. You are going to one person's office, and maybe
you bond very quickly, and then you go to the next person's office, and you get a
sense that you're actually interrupting their day and that they really not
interested what you have to say. That they're just doing this because they
were told to do it. And then you go to another individual, and you're kind of
scratching your head because they just asked you the same question five minutes
ago, and now they're asking it again, and you're wondering what is it
with this person. Maybe there's a panel interview and you're getting along great
with everyone on the panel except this one individual who seems kind of harsh
almost an SOB in the way that they're asking you questions. Guess what?
You're likely being evaluated. This is what is happening with stress interviews, and
stress interviews are becoming more and more common
because they gauge the individual's ability to handle stress
and frustration once they're on the team. So how do you address this? Well, you stay
the course. You stay the course. Number one, you have to expect the unexpected.
You stay with your star stories so you stay with your soar stories, and all those
other interview practice questions that you prepared for it before you ever
walked in to this particular interview. Let me share a story with you about
Walt Bettinger, who's the CEO of Charles Schwab. Bettinger enjoys taking
candidates to breakfast at times, and for the candidate, they're thinking well this
is really cool. I love this culture here. The CEO is actually taking me
to breakfast. But you know what? Bettinger has worked
behind-the-scenes with this restaurant and is actually paying the staff a
pretty good tip to mess up this candidate's meal. They might even accidentally
spill a little water on the candidate when they're serving. Because, he
wants to see how this candidate reacts under pressure, stress, frustration of
because it'll be a great indicator as to how that candidate
is going to be on the team under stressful situations. Situations that
could prove very frustrating. So keeping this in mind, this is the image that you
always need to project: One, that your professional. Two, that you have no
problems. Three, that you're gonna create no problems, and Four, most importantly,
that you are going to solve all of their problems. Expect the unexpected, roll with
the punches. Stay the course! Remember your soar stories. Remember
your star stories. Remember everything else that you practiced for the interview.
Don't let these little things get under your skin because it could all be a way
that you're being evaluated, and at the end of the day, always be that
professional who has no problems, that's gonna create no problems, and that's
gonna solve everybody else's problems, and you are going to ace the stress
interview. So I hope you found this video informative and useful, and if so make
sure that you subscribe to this channel as I do upload a career strategy every
Tuesday. This way you won't miss anything. And finally, if you are in the
stages of the interview make sure that you check out my free download in the
notes section below: The top 5 interview questions that any hiring manager really
wants to know about you, and the best answers to those questions. Once again,
thank you for stopping by and I will see you in the next video

Lawrence of Arabia on-screen character's 86th birthday celebrated with Google doodle
Omar Sharif has been respected with the present Google doodle, stamping what might have been
his 86th birthday celebration.
The on-screen character is likely most known for showing up close by Peter O'Toole in the
1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia, yet he had a gigantic and changed profession that saw him
net three Golden Globes and an assignment for an Academy Award.
Numerous won't not realize that and also being an on-screen character, Sharif was a worldwide
scaffold player and even composed a syndicated section about the card amusement that showed
up in the Chicago Tribune.
Conceived Michel Demitri Shalhoub in Alexandria, Egypt in 1932, Sharif worked for his dad's
wood organization before seeking after a motion picture profession.
Taking the name Omar El-Sharif, he featured in Egyptian hits incorporating his first film
