hi I'm Lisa welcome back to my channel and today we are going to talk about
weed and the vocabulary that is used to talk about weed .even if you don't smoke
weed or like you're not interested in that it's an illegal drug so a lot of
people are not really into it surprisingly but it's useful to know the
vocabulary to understand jokes and to understand what people talk about it so
you know what they are talking about and you don't feel like oh my god what is
that so you can be like ok I understand ok they're talking about weed yeah great
fine . when you listen to music or watch movies so it's helpful to learn
vocabulary so the point of this video is to learn vocabulary so let's begin. my
ass is sticking to the chair okay. first thing that we need to clear up is that there
are many many words that are used to call the weed the marijuana plant
marijuana plant so the word weed actually means something you know that
is growing the grass or whatever the word weed is worth googling and looking
at the way it was used before like the 60s or a current time when we use weed
primarily as a word for for cannabis google it and you will find a lot of
examples from like literature and poems even Radiohead in their song what's the
song lotus flower yeah that there's a there's a line with the word weeds so and it
doesn't mean weed it means just things growing like you know unwanted things
growing the second word is pot and it's very very commonly used you probably
know it the next two are kind of like terms from biology like cannabis and
marijuana they are like the names so yeah also very simple to remember them
stemming from biology is the herb or herb whatever you prefer to use with
H or without we say herbs when we talk about some greens well they're not
spicy they're flavory flavored plans so we call
herbs or herbs yeah so the weed is called herb or grass again super simple
the next one is Mary Jane and it's not very clear or obvious when you hear it
like what your meeting with Mary Jane tonight what there are a lot of theories
about why it's called Mary Jane so Google away search it read it and
educate yourself while learning this vocabulary the next word is widely used
to describe any drugs not just weed and it's dope you probably have heard it
it's a very popular word and it is also an adjective that means cool so
obviously it was used to describe weed because you know we just kind of cool
and the last word that had decided to include today was reefer which is kind
of connected with the history of weed. next section is to get high to get
stoned which is a word that explains the effect to get stone to become stone like
situation you're just cannot really move and you are glued to the couch and you
are not a threat to society at all to get baked that's one of my favorite I
like it a lot you get nice and toasty and just again
imagine a really good pie that's the state that you get when you're faced why
not like , where am I going or those metaphors ?I don't know next one is very
similar all connected to cooking is to get fried but I rarely hear people use
it so I think when people use it they want to emphasize like they want to get
really high and okay do that also along the lines of getting very high is to get
blazed if you again google the word blaze or too blaze you
kind of see the similarities of the intensity of smoking and the intensity
of the process so you'll get the difference between getting stone and
getting blazed even though it's the same thing but it's
a bit different but still the same thing to get faded is also used to describe
this state of high but unfortunately it's more used to describe the state
that you get from drinking alcohol but sometimes it can be used for weed so now
you know the last two are not very common but they can be used to get
buzzed and to get lit I think they're not very common because we use lit in a
way of describing something extremely cool and like amazing so it's just not
yeah I heard people using it but it's like not preferable and the last third
section of vocabulary that I'm going to talk about today our words that you
should know and what they mean so the most common ways to describe the joint
is joint a blunt a doobie
and J. .j like the letter and J like jay-z also they
can be named differently depending on the type of the joint the way it's like made
is it big is it small ?is it thin is it thick ? but these are the basics to
remember. the word bud is very important but also right now it's spring and if
you look out the window in there are no leaves yet and you want to describe the
tree and what is happening there are buds green buds on trees so in a couple
of days they will become leaves so you see vocabulary is not just we're not
talking here about slang we're talking about the vocabulary you know we can use
it in other parts of our life not just when we try to talk or understand the
weed talk and last two adjectives dank and dope that mean awesome amazing
great yeah you can use them actually to describe just regular things people use
them without the context of smoking weed so so these are three major clusters of
vocabulary that you should know to understand the weed talk if you go
deeper and research every word and learn how to
use it what parts of speech it can be it can also improve your vocabulary a lot
so I encourage you to do that Google that and educate yourself yeah so that's
it for today happy 4/20 yeah thank you very much for watching I hope it was
helpful hit the bell this way you will be notified when my videos come out yeah
subscribe to my channel if you're not subscribed give this video like if you
smoke weed and you don't smoke weed just give it a like anyway so thank you for
watching and I will see you in my next video bye
I hate to say this word because I cannot really save well enough Mary wanna much
easier to say it a Russian than in English but real learning English today
