IRS Now Looking Into Coinbase User Accounts - Duration: 3:24.
The digital bank Coinbase has agreed to hand over tax information on 13,000 accounts to
the IRS.
IRS says their focus is on Coinbase users who bought or sold more than $20,000 worth
of digital currency.
Coinbase, on the other hand, argued in court that the IRS made a request that was unwarranted
against their customers and that the industry as a whole has been victimized by all this.
Joining me to talk about all this is Mollye Barrows, legal journalist for the Trial Lawyer
magazine.
Mollye, why does the IRS suspect there's something going on with a Coinbase kind of economy,
bitcoin.
Yes, so it's a virtual bank of sorts.
It's one of the biggest in the world.
In the short amount of time since 2011 when they were founded, you can make money off
of trading these virtual currencies, whether it's bitcoin or something else.
So within a short amount of time, millions of accounts, millions of users, and in 2014,
the federal government said, "Hey, this money that you're making off of trading bitcoin
and other currencies, that's technically property and you should pay capital gains on it."
But because it's virtual, because they use wallets essentially as an account holder.
If you were Mike Papantonio and you wanted to start trading bitcoin, it would be called
a wallet.
In order to find out how much you're actually making off of this, they had to request from
Coinbase your wallet.
That's got all your identifying information.
They were like you got all these millions of customers.
We want to know how much money they're making.
It's a little hard to manage because it's not a federally regulated banking system so
that they can't ... It's easier to maybe evade taxes or do something nefarious.
It's not ...
You're supposed to report it.
It requires self reporting.
It's not supported by really anything.
If you ... It's an interesting thing.
If you ask most people that are in this bitcoin business, how do I buy a pair of shoes?
I don't know.
How do I use it?
I got my bitcoins.
How do I go buy ...
Yes.
There is a way to do it.
It's not what I want to cover here thought.
Look, the IRS ... I'm so interested that the IRS has this interest.
What is the scope of what the IRS is asking for?
Why is it so unusual that they should ask, are you making money on it, because it is
property, isn't it?
Right.
That's exactly what it is.
They want to know if you're making money off of it.
Because it's a virtual platform, you can easily get away with not self-reporting or not reporting
it, so that's why they wanted to see the data, but they literally have millions of users.
I mean you're talking upwards of 10 million, even recently.
So when they first requested in 2014 for this information, they said we want nearly all
of your account holder's information, so you're talking millions of customers and accounts,
and Coinbase, was like, oh no.
Back it up.
We're taking you to court.
We're going to fight this.
Actually it was after the court heard it that there was a compromise of sorts and IRS was
forced to narrow down the scope of their request significantly to just 13,000 account holders.
It was, basically they wanted every single account that Coinbase had over a several year
period, and it was whittled down to about 13,000 between 2013 and 15 and they made 20
grand or so in trades.
It seems like it's such a mystery that probably we ought to know, the IRS probably should
have more information.
Yes.
And what I did find interesting, it's a virtual banking system.
Their goal is to basically make this throughout the world so you're not accountable to any
one country or currency and nobody has a monopoly.
That's good.
It does sound a little bit like a Ponzi scheme, doesn't it?
Yeah.
Mollye Barrows, thank you for joining me.
Thank you for having me.

US Trade War Coming: Should We Be Worried Yet? - Duration: 4:01.
Welcome to Dr. David Eifrig's Health & Wealth Bulletin.
This is Weekly Update.
With me this week is John Gillin from Stansberry NewsWire.
And he's here to talk to us today about the recent market volatility and what's going
on with the coming – possible – trade war.
John.
John: We have certainly had a lot of volatility, Amanda.
Opening down 550 yesterday and rallying about 800, so expect volatility going forward.
And our biggest concerns now are a possible trade war, which becomes on again, off again.
It's a lot of showmanship, but I think there will be action taken, and that's going to
change the math a bit on how you invest going forward.
Amanda: Okay, so, given all this recent volatility we've seen, what does that mean for the market?
Should we be worried about a coming downturn?
John: Well, let's keep things in perspective for the market.
And I just want to look at a couple of notes because fundamentals are so important and
they're so good at this point, with earnings growth.
We've got reasonable valuation of about 21 times 12 month trailing, 18 times earnings
now.
We've got dividend increases, buybacks, M&A has picked up, repatriation of cash – all
of this very important for fundamentals.
However, because we've been in investing nirvana, something called the tipping point, which
you've read the Malcolm Gladwell books, and when we take away quantitative easing, when
the Fed funds are moving higher and I do think rates are going up.
That's going to change the math.
Inflation is supposed to kick in at some point in the cycle and that's going to happen and
then the present value of future cash flows changes.
So that's why we've seen so much volatility in particular in the high-flying tech names.
Passive investing has chased into these things and put them to valuations we haven't seen…
I'd say since back in 2000.
So, again, why algos kick in quickly and they become, they take stocks to levels that they're
gonna trade, buy, or sell.
The fundamentals kind of fall away quickly.
Amanda: Okay.
Now, given this kind of environment, what sort of things should we look for in order
to invest, to sort of hedge ourselves against anything that might happen.
John: Hedging is incredibly important.
Because if we were to dismiss the volatility that has taken place – hey, it's an all
clear sign – that would be silly.
So, there's always gold.
Gold's not going to pay you a dividend, but gold is around the $1300 level.
It's going to let you sleep at night.
Silver.
Silver's done nothing in five years.
You can buy the Silver Wheaton stock, SLW, which if we are to get things very frothy,
silver will trade higher in my humble opinion.
I want you to stay away from volatility, the VIX, stay away from Bitcoin.
We can't quite put our fingers on where that is heading.
Other things: AT&T pays you a 5.5% dividend.
Verizon pays you a 5% dividend.
I like self-storage REITs, apartment REITs, they look like they pay over 4%.
So those are some places where you can rest easy, you can hide, if you will.
Don't sell your long-term investments.
But if you're looking for places to just park for a while.
Amanda: Right, some sleep well at night investments.
John: Sleep well at night investments, exactly.
Amanda: Great.
Alright.
Well, thanks for painting a –
John: My pleasure.
Amanda: A much happier picture for us with all of this market volatility.
You can catch John Gillin again on the Investor MarketCast, that's part of the NewsWire service.
We're going to have a link to that in the description below.
That's it for today.
Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe, and we'll see you next week.
John: Great Amanda.
Thanks.
Amanda: Thank you!

Tanki Online V-LOG: Episode 167 - Duration: 6:35.
WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
In today's episode we'll be answering your questions about
the new program Youtuber TO.
We'll be also talking about the weekend event
and new gameplay mechanic for Cosmonautics Day.
Hello tankers!
This week we've launched a new program to support Youtube channels
that make videos about Tanki -- Youtuber TO.
Record videos about Tanki, and we'll help your channel grow!
Check the description for the link to the full rules of the program.
Today we'll answer the most popular questions from the Forum:
Will we get the rewards only at the end of April?
Yes. Get views in April, and make new videos.
On April 23rd we will open a special form,
which you will need to fill in with the link to your channel and then wait.
Just make sure to specify in the contacts section of your channel
where the rewards should be sent, for example, in a message on the Forum.
How will you count the views?
We will count all views on the channel that were added during that month.
This includes views on the new videos released in the past month,
and also the views on the old videos.
So if you have old videos about Tanki and during the last month they gained more views,
these views will also be counted.
To put it simply: on every channel there's a counter for views.
We will take the difference between the number of views
at the beginning of the month and at the end of it.
How to get the spectator mode?
To get the spectator mode your channel must have 10,000 subscribers or more
and the number of views gained during the month must be higher
than the number of subscribers.
Let's see for the example the official channel of Tanki Online Russia.
The channel has 377 thousand subscribers
In March, the channel gained 681 thousand views.
This is bigger than 377 thousand,
which means the channel gets the spectator mode!
And, of course, these rules apply only to channels that meet all the
requirements of the program.
As you know from watching the last episode, the April 1st event was moved to this weekend.
Let's see what's coming to the game during 2 days of the event:
Holiday decorations with parachutes, billboards and a holiday paint
Discounts!
On Saturday 30% off on the items in the Shop
On Sunday 30% off on the items in the Garage
And the coolest part of the event is the secret effect Gold Drops.
For example:
Tanker who catches the Gold will become invincible for 1 minute
Also the Gold Box can give you 1, 2 or even 3 days of Premium
or destroy all of the tanks around you.
In this case, the player who catches the Gold
will get all of the kills added to his personal kills.
And one more thing, the number of crystals.
Gold Box can give you 1 thousand, 5, 10 or even
50 thousand crystals.
Since Gold Boxes are this cool, they just must drop more often,
let's say… 5 times more often!
Have a great weekend!
The April 1st event hasn't even started,
and we're already announcing the traditional event for Cosmonautics Day
that is celebrated in Tanki every year.
The event will start next week on Thursday and it will be…
freaking awesome and unheard of in TO!
The focus of the event is on the Gold Box.
This time, it will be… inside a meteorite!
Here's how it works:
first you hear the siren, and then a drop spot appears.
After 10 seconds a meteorite will appear in the sky.
It doesn't drop straight down, but flies under a sharp angle in a way
that makes it easier to see the meteorite from far away.
Where the meteorite drops, a huge explosion will happen,
and it will destroy any tank even under the effect of Double Armor.
So it's better to NOT be at the drop zone when it happens.
After the explosion, a Gold Box or a container will appear in the drop zone
-- grab it fast!
For such an event Gold Boxes will be dropping more often too.
We'll share more details about the event right before it starts.
Let the Tankmaggedon begin!
New parkour tournament - -"Top Class" -- has started.
What's different from Masters of Parkour is that the only thing that matters is the skill
-- you need to complete the trick from the first try.
30 teams are participating in the tournament,
and it will run until the very Birthday of Tanki Online --
the winners will be announced on July 4th.
The best three teams will get crystals, containers and a unique paint "Top Class".
Check out the Final stages of the tournament live on
TO Operators channel!
The Latin American tankers are still enjoying COLISEUM,
and last week the fourth round was held for the remaining tankers,
with 2 more rounds to go before we unveil the conquerors of the event.
Don't miss the last rounds on April 14th and April 28th!
Also on Latin American servers, an unknown tank was found in a random battle.
It was especially hard to kill, and the lucky tankers who did it,
received cool rewards!
Who was it?
Does Godmode have a secret admirer or unknown relatives overseas?
Let's wait and see.
Video of the Week.
For this episode we asked you to record something cool using Ricochet
and while wearing the Red paint.
Let's see the best video!
Next time, record a video with meteorites.
They will be released with the morning restart on Thursday,
so you will have only one day before the V-LOG to record and edit the entry.
On the bright side, you will also have a whole week to plan it.
Good luck!
That's it for today's episode!
Like the V-LOG for cool events, and see you next week! Bye!
In the last episode you had to guess who will be hit by the Ricochet.
And the right answer is -- C.
Welcome the winners and today we're shooting from Railgun.
How many shots will it take to destroy Viking?

Prison Where Parkland Shooter Nikolas Cruz Is Just Uncovered Terrifying Surprise. - Duration: 6:15.
Prison Where Parkland Shooter Nikolas Cruz Is Just Uncovered Terrifying Surprise.
The Parkland school shooter who lit up the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas high school with
an AR-15, taking multiple lives and injuring many others, has been receiving some very
strange deliveries to prison.
It appears as though the extremely troubled Nikolas Cruz has a bizarre number of fans
who send him love letters, donations, and even more shocking – nude and sexual photos
from males and females.
It might be normal for some prisoners to receive letters from family and friends, but when
a mass murderer gets more sexual photos sent to him than a normal guy does on a normal
day, then there's certainly a problem.
The Sun Sentinel reported that teen girls, women, and even old men were sending letters
to the murderer and hiding the "suggestive" photos inside greeting cards or attached to
notebook paper.
Some people send money to prisoners so they can place the cash in their commissary account.
The account is used to buy things like snacks inside the prison.
The desire and attraction to mass murderers isn't something out of the ordinary though.
There are people who once lusted for Charles Manson and it's reported that he even married
one of his fans.
Whatever strange attraction the people have to the mass murderers can only be described
as slightly weird, especially since there's not much of a chance for the person, who has
an attraction to the mass killer to have a typical everyday relationship considering
one of the people are in prison.
It's not yet known what Cruz's sentence will be, but he could spend the rest of his
life in prison, or face the death penalty, and that would be a huge let down for the
people who seek to have a relationship with him.
Not that murdering all those people wasn't a turn-off or anything.
Regardless, people will like who what they like and that's their prerogative.
The Sun Sentinel reported what some of the letters said and stated more on the fan mail:
"I reserve the right to care about you, Nikolas!" wrotes a Texas woman in neat blue
script in a letter addressed to the jail's Post Office Box in Fort Lauderdale.
The letter was mailed six days after Cruz murdered 17 students, and staff and injured
17 others with an AR-15 rifle at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14.
The reverent note takes up all available space on the front, and back of a kiddie-like greeting
card showing a furry bunny holding binoculars looking out at the ocean.
The inside of the card says, "Out of sight, but never out of mind."
A teenager wrote on March 15: "I'm 18-years-old.
I'm a senior in high school.
When I saw your picture on the television, something attracted me to you."
The letter was mailed from Texas and tucked inside an envelope covered with hand-drawn
hearts and happy faces.
"Your eyes are beautiful and the freckles on your face make you so handsome."
She goes on to describe herself as white with big, brown eyes.
"I'm really skinny and have 34C sized breasts."
She ends the letter with three preschool-rated jokes about gummy bears and peanut butter.
A woman from Chicago enclosed nine suggestive photos, including a shot of cleavage, another
in a skimpy bikini eating a Popsicle and a tight shot of her backside, as she bent over.
Another girl sent photos with Hello Kitty Snapchat filters.
An 18-year-old from New York wrote: "No one else is dealing your demons, meaning maybe
defeating them could be the beginning of your meaning, friend.
I know you could use a good friend right now.
Hang in there and keep your head up."
The letter closes with hearts colored in pink ink.
"There's piles of letters," said Broward County Public Defender Howard Finkelstein,
whose office is representing Cruz.
"In my 40 years as public defender, I've never seen this many letters to a defendant.
Everyone now and then gets a few, but nothing like this."
Not all of the letters are from women.
One card with a cat on the front is from an New York man sporting a bushy, gray, mustache.
He enclosed photos of himself behind the wheel of his white, 1992 Nissan convertible."
Besides the murder wrap that Cruz is facing, he, unfortunately, won't be able to read
his fan mail anytime soon.
He's on suicide watch and isolated in a bare cell all by himself.
The cowards of Broward, who are indirectly responsible for the deaths of students and
staff as much as Cruz is, have been nice enough to read some of the religious notes or ones
of encouragement to Cruz.
They refused to share the scantily clad pictures of the women who wish to share their body
with Cruz.
There's also a solid reason to believe the Broward police probably kept any pictures
of nude men because there's no way a bunch of chickens like those officers like women.
Sun Sentinel continued: "The jail opens inmates' mail (except legal mail), according
to the Broward Sheriff's Office inmate handbook.
Obscene mail or mail deemed to be a safety or security threat to staff is returned to
the sender, the handbook says.
"We read a few religious ones to him that extended wishes for his soul and to come to
God," Finkelstein said, "but we have not and will not read him the fan letters or share
the photos of scantily-clad teenage girls."
Finkelstein said he worries "everyday boys and girls are starting to view him in an elevated
way, looking up to his fame and notoriety."
"The letters shake me up because they are written by regular, everyday teenage girls
from across the nation," he said.
"That scares me."
What scares me is that the Broward police failed to save students and staff because
they were frightened to go into the building and do something about it.
It's bizarre that Nikolas Cruz is receiving so much fan mail and pictures of scantily
clad women.
However, I don't care because it doesn't bring anyone back who lost their lives thanks
to the shooter and the cops not doing their job.
It is one massive unfortunate demise for all and nothing will bring back the people who
were lost.
The only thing we can do now is work on preventing the next shooting by being better people to
each other and helping those in need when they show so many red flags.
What do you think about this?

How Liverpool's faith in Trent Alexander-Arnold ended pursuit of early Naby Keita move - Duration: 3:50.
How Liverpool's faith in Trent Alexander-Arnold ended pursuit of early Naby Keita move
Trent Alexander-Arnolds importance to Jurgen Klopps plans for Liverpool directly influenced their failed pursuit of a January deal for Naby Keita.
Keita is already set to join the Reds for £55 million on July 1, and has scored eight goals and assisted six in 33 games for Leipzig this season.
But with Klopp looking to push forward midway through the campaign, and in the wake of Philippe Coutinhos move to Barcelona, he was eager to sign the Guinean early.
This ultimately fell through, and Liverpool have made considerable progress without him, with one foot in the Champions League semi-finals and a top-four Premier League finish likely.
However, while Leipzigs sporting director Ralf Rangnick insisted they wouldnt allow Keita to leave early, it transpires that they were open to negotiations.
According to the Times Paul Joyce, Leipzig suggested that a deal involving Alexander-Arnold would be one solution to smoothing Keita's early arrival.
It is unclear whether this was with a view to taking the young right-back on loan or as part of a permanent switch, but it was likely the former.
But despite Keitas standing as one of the most influential young midfielders in Europe, Liverpool rejected any possibility of Alexander-Arnold leaving Merseyside.
This development, as Joyce suggests, speaks volumes for a player who is destined to go places.
Alexander-Arnold made his 36 first-team appearance in Wednesday nights 3-0 mauling of Man City at Anfield, ensuring the Reds a commanding lead in their Champions League quarter-final.
After concerns over his performances up against Marcus Rashford and Wilfried Zaha of late, the prospect of the 19-year-old lining up opposite City winger Leroy Sane was worrying.
But Alexander-Arnold responded with an emphatic display that made him a convincing contender for the Man of the Match award.
This was just one in a long line of impressive performances from the young Scouser, as he establishes himself as a genuine fixture within Klopps senior squad.
With Nathaniel Clyne spending much of the season in the treatment room, Klopps decision to turn to the academy has been vindicated, and in light of Joe Gomezs current absence this is underlined further.
If Liverpool had sanctioned a temporary move to the Red Bull Arena for their No.
66, Klopp would have been deprived of one of his strongest full-backs.
And in doing so it highlighted the clubs faith in Alexander-Arnold, not simply in the long term but also in the short term, with his future on Merseyside very bright.

Which Color You Have Seen When You Close Eyes - Duration: 2:45.
do you see colors when you close your eyes with the colors when we look at
things but have you ever noticed that sometimes we see colors even when our
eyes are closed why does that happen all your superhero in the making or is
there a scientific explanation for this phenomenon the colors that you see are
not necessarily present in the external world but it really is the inside of
your eyes that is making you see those blobs and patterns of color these
visible spots on the back of your eyelids are collectively called
phosphates one very common made the pertaining to our eyes is that they are
only activated when they receive some external stimulus that is light from the
outside however the truth is that the neurons working in the vision system are
always active even with our eyes closed there is a certain amount of
neurological activity occurring inside our eyes which means that there is
random firing of neurons happening it should be noted that this happens all
the time whether your eyes are shut or not it's just then when your eyes are
open the visible information that you take in through your eyes easily crowds
out the minute and random motions of neurons within the visual system however
in the absence of any visual information from the outside you are able to see
these random colors and patterns when do we see colors behind our eyelids
generally one experiences a visible image of these phosphines
right after rubbing one's eyes it happens because the pressure applied due
to rubbing the eyes as this produces a lot of bio photons in the retina of the
eyes most of these bio photons are observed
by the retina itself which converts this visual information to electrical signals
through the use of rods and cones before sending it back to the brain that is the
visual cortex as soon as the brain formulates an image of the visual
information sent by the retina it determines that it is total rubbish
consequently what you see all random colors and blobs rather than definite
shapes there are other methods of seeing phosphenes
such as being hit on the head standing up too
fast or as the result of a particularly hard sneeze thank you for watching this
