Somebody wrote me and asked, "What's the

difference between kindness or kind acts

and people-pleasing? I feel like I get

stuck because I don't know the

difference." Oh the answer is delightfully

simple. It's all about expectations.

Kindness is a gift freely given where

you freely give as much as you choose

which is more related to what you can do

rather than what the other person wants.

Just because somebody demands of me a

hundred units of effort doesn't mean

that I have to do a hundred units of

effort. In fact, recently in a volunteer

organization I was working, I was asked

to do a job and I said sure and I

already knew that I had 35 units of

effort to devote to this job and the job

would be lovely it would end up being a

good experience and then I was

surrounded by people who were saying

well it needs to be hundred units of

effort and you needed to do this you

need to do this and I just said well

thank you just thank you. One person

actually had the gall to say, "So are you

gonna do it? No? Well why aren't you?"

Because I was given the job. it's my job

to do so I've decided to put thirty five

units of effort into it and I'm just all

happy about that and the results are

gonna be just lovely

that is a loving act that is kindness.

What if I had agreed to do the hundred

units? Then I would be doing it to please

them I would not have had fun. They

wouldn't really have cared except

briefly to have experienced a moment of

power where they controlled things.

Nobody wins.

Kindness you freely give. If you get

nothing in return.

There's no disappointment. So when I do

my 35 units of effort for this

particular project which doesn't matter

and nobody says Wow great job, I really

don't care because I will have enjoyed

the gift that I freely gave my 35 units

or whatever. Even if you get no

acknowledgement that you're alive

and you feel no disappointment then you

gave a gift. People-pleasing is all about

expectations. There's lots of

disappointment if your kindness is not

rewarded and that's the difference. It's

not complicated. Don't make it

complicated.

HOW WELL DO I KNOW CZECHIA? | Geoguessr - Duration: 12:21.

But, let's get started!

I was inspired by this video by Tom's Gaming Life.

I watch some YouTube channels in Czech to help me with my Czech, and today I want to

see if I can figure out where I am in the Czech Republic on Google Maps.

So, let's do it!

Okay, so the map is gonna be Okresní Města, the sub-regional capitals of the Czech Republic.

I've been to maybe, like, five or six of them, so we'll see if I recognize any of them here.

Okay, starting out... oh my gosh, these recycling things!

This is so Czech.

Here in the United States I just put all of my recycling in the same bin and dump it out,

whereas you separate things in the Czech Republic, which I'm sure makes it easier for the people

actually doing the recycling.

Looks like I'm on a river here.

Oh, there's a sign.

What does this say?

Oh, that's terrible.

That doesn't help me at all.

Maybe I'll back up a little bit.

I dunno.

Maybe that's...

I have some sort of river here.

I heard about the town Zlín in a song by Xindl X where he mentions women from a lot

of different towns in the Czech Republic.

So let's look..

I guess the recycling bins are the same in Moravia, in Bohemia, in Slezsko.

It was exciting.

I've never seen a Škoda here in the United States before and I don't even think most

people know what it is.

So, I think that I'm in Bohemia.

My family is Czech, like, five generations ago, and part of them were from between Tábor

and Písek.

I've been to Písek but I've never been to Tábor.

So, let's go to Tábor and figure out where we were!

Here our shingles are, they're almost like paper, like you can bend them, but they're

like tiles in the Czech Republic, which is interesting.

Most of them that I've seen, anyway.

I'm gonna go on the other side of the river if I can.

These like community boards I've seen, I saw them a lot in the Czech Republic and it's

not very common here in the United States.

This definitely helps with this game.

I've never heard of Výrava.

I'm looking over in this area first because I'm less familiar with towns on this side

of the Czech Republic, as you could tell by me guessing Zlín.

So, the smokestacks indicate to me that's it's more industrial, which to me indicates

that it's in the, yeah, north.

So if that's where I am, let's return to my original location.
