Oh my god I can't take it anymore!

Here are some numbers to shock you:

Last year (2017), the average monthly resignation rate in Singapore is 1.8%

Having said that, if your company has 100 people,

around two of them would leave the company every month

Well, I won't be surprised if you're not surprised,

because as a working adult,

I'm pretty sure you've seen people come and go

It's common to ask this question during any gathering:

you still at A company?

No lah, I move on to B company already

However, it's also common to hear friends

complaining about the difficulty of finding another job

or borrowing money from you

to help him or her tide over the unemployment period

Usually, these are the people who have quit on impulse:

whether they just hate the boss's face, or they YOLO

and then realize that YOLO needs money, too

Of course, sometimes, we quit because we've got a really nasty boss

No one would blame you if you decide to quit, man

Here are eight things you've got to do before you type

that resignation letter, or you might become that guy just now

Bob... you're my only friend

This is common sense,

but you'll be surprised at how many people skipped over this step:

Getting a job before you even think of quitting

Aiya, no job won't die lah. Won't starve to death one

Guess what, bills will still come even if you're not getting paid

Huh, so fast got bill already?

Should have found a job before leaving

Just tahan

People always tell you to save money before you quit,

but how much is enough?

Six months, that's how much you need

So if you earn $10k per month, good luck to you

By the way, CPF don't count hor

And this is even if you've signed

an appointment letter with another company

You see, while an appointment letter is indeed a contract,

the Employment Act has not kicked in until you,

the employee, starts work

Even so, you'll be an unconfirmed staff so the employer can let go of you

(usually with one day notice) without consequences

So unless you have a confirmation letter,

make sure you have some savings

At least if one company decides to "play stunt" with you,

you'll still have ample time to look for another job

Whenever we have a new job,

we'll be so excited we only check for two things before signing:

The salary and the number of days we have for our annual leave

But how many of us actually look at the notice period?

While most companies will go for a one-month notice period for confirmed staff,

they can be different depending on the contract

If your position is high, it can go all the way to three months

Now, imagine you think it's just one month

and you secure yourself a new job,

only to realize the notice period is three months

Your new employer might not wait two months for you!

In this digital era,

it's common to use the Internet for everything: 我们干任何事都：

from ordering your food to booking your taxi

Of course, it's even more common to find a job online:

everyone in Goody Feed found his or her position online.

However, don't limit yourself to just online channel

Get out there and meet people

Go to jobs fairs where you'll get the chance to meet employers-to-be

and impress them with your personality

After all, there's only so much a piece of paper can convey about you

Sometimes, you're leaving not because you're unhappy with your boss:

You just want a change of scenery

Just remember that before you leave,

get a testimonial or reference letter from your superior

Nothing speaks better about your work performance

than a glowing recommendation from your ex-boss

Also, it means that you're not leaving the company because you suck,

and it shows your future employer that they'll be getting a good staff who's easy to work with

And because we're living in the 21st century,

everything is going digital

So don't get them to write you a piece of paper that you might lose

Get them to write on your LinkedIn profile instead

But, of course lah, if you're not leaving on good terms,

then better don't ask.

asking for testimony from a boss that doesn't like you

It just doesn't end well

Nowadays, HR don't hire you just based on your resume

They'll become Private Investigators (P.I.) and look through your social media accounts

So, if you happen to be a troll...

clean up your account first

Make sure your profile is updated because if a HR manager can't find you online,

you might not even be given a chance to come for an interview

And I'm not just talking about Facebook and Instagram

Make sure your LinkedIn profile is updated as well

because that's where the people are going to start looking first

And if your LinkedIn account was updated back in 2009?

Kiss your future job goodbye

In the world today, it's not enough to say "I can do everything fastly and goodly"

You need to be able to prove it,

and the best way to do so is to have some sort of portfolio

It doesn't matter what it is,

whether it's a report you've done or a video you've made

It goes without saying that when you show your samples,

you're not showing them confidential information about your previous company

Pretty common sense, right?

Okay, this is pretty clear cut but you need to check this:

Go to your CPF statement and check if your present company still owes you any CPF contributions

Because the moment you leave, it's very hard to chase back the money

I mean, ya CPF will help you, but it's going to take some time

So if you happen to need the money, like for paying instalment for your BTO flat,

then you might need to pay via cash

Of course, let's be honest: the problem you face isn't a company owing you CPF

But whether you still remember your SingPass password

Now that you know what to do before quitting, do yourself a favour: show this to your friends

Because remember: out of your 100 friends, 2 of them are going to quit their job soon

Don't let them make these mistakes

Cómo hacer estuches de vinilo - Duration: 5:28.

hello, in today's video you are going to learn

how to make these vinyl pencil pouches

The supplies that you will need are

two vinyl rectangles, this is a material that you can find in fabric stores

or decoration stores. In this case, the one I bought

is used to put it on top of tablecloths so they do not get stained

you will also need a zipper

bias tape and your sewing machine and usual sewing

supplies

cut two vinyl rectangles that measure 32 x 18 centimeters

and put some folded bias tape on one of the long sides

as you see on screen. The bias tape that I'm using

measures approximately 2 cm wide

stitch with your sewing machine

approximately one or two millimeters from the edge of the bias tape

in this case you can use a standard presser foot because as the vinyl is

covered by the bias tape on both sides you will not have difficulty to

use the sewing machine

now place the bias tape on top of the

zipper on both sides and stitch again

in this case we are using a zipper presser foot

when you get to the puller of the zipper

let the needle down, lift the presser foot and pass the puller back

so that it does not bother you when sewing

if you use thin pins like those that I am using it is not necessary to

take them off. Here you can see the zipper with both

rectangles sewn on the sides and now open the zipper,

match the wrong sides of the two rectangles

and pin all around, using pegs instead of

pins to avoid leaving marks on the vinyl

and now put this Teflon presser foot in the machine

which will make it easier to sew the vinyl and stitch all around leaving

approximately 1 centimeter seam allowance

to get a decorative effect and as the vinyl is transparent I'm

using the same orange thread as I used to sew the zipper but you

you can use the color you want

Now cut the excess vinyl with scallop scissors

You can leave it as is or you can make a bottom for your pouch as I am doing here

fold the corners into triangles as you see on screen, matching

the side and the bottom seam

4 centimeters from the corner and stitch this line

this way the pouch will have about 8 centimeters bottom

do this in both corners and cut off the excess again with your

scallop scissors, and now you only have to turn your pouch around and that's how

it is finished In addition, I made another smaller pouch

following the tutorial that you can see on Chita Lou's channel

What happens behind closed doors, and as a house cleaner what are your responsibilities?

That's a great question and we're going to talk about that today.

Hi there, I'm Angela Brown, and this is Ask A House Cleaner.

This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question,

and I get to help you find an answer.

Alright, onto today's show, which is from a house cleaner who went to a house.

When she got there, she did the regular cleaning.

She goes to do a bedroom and the bedroom door is closed.

And she thought, "Well, that's a little odd.

Usually there's no one home."

So, she knocks on the door and somebody on the inside yells at her and says, "Go away,

I'm trying to sleep."

So she says, "Okay."

So she did not clean that room.

She does the rest of the house and then she leaves, as she normally does.

When she got home, the homeowner called and was furious that she had skipped that bedroom.

So, the house cleaner said, "I knocked on the door, and the person inside yelled at

me and told me to go away.

So I didn't clean that room.

What do you want me to do?"

And the woman said, "I want you to get back over here and clean it right now.

Our agreement was that you were going to clean the entire house, and if someone was in there

sleeping you should have awakened them."

So, the house cleaner's like, "What should I do?"

Okay, well, that's a fair question and it sounds like we have a customer who probably

jumped the gun a little bit.

If you are sleeping ... I don't know why you're sleeping.

Maybe you worked late last night.

Maybe you have a hangover.

I don't know.

I don't know why there's a grown adult sleeping in that room.

But, if someone is sleeping in the room and the door is closed, that needs to be communicated

with the person that hired you.

So, before you leave the customer's house, you may even stop and text the customer, and

just say, "Hey, I'm at your house and the bedroom door upstairs on the left was closed.

I knocked on the door and someone yelled at me to go away.

Do you want me to wake them up, or do you want me to go away?"

And, let the person that hired you make that decision, not the person that's inside that room.

Now, the next thing that you might do, if you don't do that, on your worksheet, every

worksheet has a back page.

So, you can fold the page over and on the back side of the page you can make a note.

"I cleaned your entire house.

I checked off everything that I cleaned, except for the top bedroom on the left.

There was someone in there and they told me to go away.

Call me if you have any questions.

I hope whoever is in there is okay."

And now you sign your name and you leave the note.

Now when the person comes home, they can talk to the person that was in the room, before

they call you and have you come back to do a satisfaction guaranteed clean when they

were expecting you to clean, which was your contract.

But at the same time, somebody threw you a monkey wrench and you made the next best decision.

Another way of handling this is on the initial walkthrough.

You can just say to the customer, "Hey, if I get to your house and any of the doors are

closed, I typically don't open those doors.

And so, I just want to let you know that I don't open closed doors.

So, before I come you may want to open all the doors of all the rooms and all the closets

that you want clean."

The exception to the closed door policy is for Airbnb guests and vacation rental by owner.

There's a thing in the hotel industry that all doors should be closed.

All closet doors should be closed.

Bathroom doors should be closed.

Everything is closed, 'cause it creates this neat, tidy feel of not having the rooms or whatever.

So, if you're in an Airbnb or you are in a vacation rental by owner and you're cleaning

it, it is possible the doors will be closed.

So, this is a great conversation to have if you're doing a walkthrough.

And, just say you do open doors or you don't do open doors.

And, let them know what your policy is, so they can either say, "Oh, yeah we always keep

all of our doors closed, please open them all."

Or they may say, "We will open them all for you."

But, if you have that conversation then you know.

And then they know, they know upfront, that if you show up and one of the doors is closed

and you knock on it and somebody tells you to go away, you are going to skip that room.

So, the upfront communication is the best way to handle that.

Now, as far as the customer having you come back, this sounds like it was a one-time scenario,

and so I think that's really lousy of the customer.

Because, they should have taken it up with the person whose room that was and they should

have had a conversation about that.

But since that didn't happen and you had to go back, I'm sorry that that happened.

This was like a one-time deal.

This doesn't happen very often.

So, try to put procedures in place as weird stuff pops up.

Because, in this business, weird stuff will pop up.

And you're like, "Wow, I don't really know what to do 'cause I've never done this before."

But now you do.

Moving forward, now you do.

Because something like this happened, we want to prevent it from happening again.

So, you put procedures in place so that you never find yourself in the same situation

without a plan.

Alrighty, that's my two cents for today.
