Youtube daily Nov 14 2018

hey what's going on guys so in today's video I'm gonna be going over Google ads

and affiliate marketing and kind of explaining what it takes in order to

start making some affiliate commissions with paid traffic and with Google Ads so

if that's something that you're interested in you're gonna want to stick

until the end in today's video I'm gonna cover Facebook ads vs. Google Ads the

different types of campaigns that you would run and at the end I'm gonna go

over how I would recommend doing it and setting everything up so that you can

start making some affiliate commissions worth Google Ads and grow your business

faster than with free traffic alright so let's get into Google Ads vs. Facebook

ads now for Google and whenever people are searching on the platform they're

usually looking for an answer to their question or a solution to the problem

and that's because on Google and on YouTube as well there's higher buyer

intent so whenever people type in any type of keywords they're usually looking

for a solution or you know something that can help them fix their problem and

typically Google kind of sends them that now a lot of times it'll be people

searching for you know just like info on Google just to read an article but

sometimes they're actually looking for a product that can help them solve their

problem whether it be a physical product or some sort of info product so it's

definitely good to run ads on Google just because of that buyer intent and

Google Ads excels when it comes to driving traffic with the intent to

convert because that's pretty much basically what people use the platform

for now with Facebook ads is a mindset on facebook is kind of like to mainly

see what your friends are doing and just to check out videos whether it be

motivational videos or animal videos or any type of videos that might come

across your newsfeed in order for Facebook to try and keep you on the

platform longer they definitely don't want to send you off the platform

because they don't make as much money when you know you leave the platform and

you stop using it but you do see ads sprinkled in on your newsfeed they're

usually every third or fourth post if you want to go ahead and check it out

just go ahead and check it out it's definitely kind of beat every third or

fourth post is gonna be a sponsored post but that's not to say that Facebook Ads

don't they still do convert and they convert

extremely well typically though with facebook ads they they work better with

a higher ticket offer just because you're able to spend more on advertising

and have a higher sale and that customer lifetime value is longer just because

you have a higher ticket purchase if you're trying to sell something for a

low ticket or if you're trying to do some type of affiliate offer it's gonna

be hard to make profit let alone break even you might even lose some money with

Facebook Ads if you're running them solely for affiliate marketing but you

know if you're able to do that a higher ticket affiliate marketing that's where

Facebook Ads tend to be a little bit easier and more profitable now by our

intent is lower on Facebook but like I mentioned it still converts well and

it's harder to run an affiliate campaign affiliate marketing campaign on Facebook

than it is on Google Ads I've tried before got an ad account shut down and

most of the times my ads to get shut down even if I don't send people

straight to the landing page now it might just be because of the niches that

I've been doing and type of ads that I've been trying to get by but it's just

just keep in mind that whenever you're trying to send paid traffic and trying

to run either Google or Facebook Ads Facebook ads is gonna be a little bit

tougher in order to be profitable on the front end with affiliate marketing now

back end and you know looking at the customer lifetime value you can

definitely be profitable over six months by sending emails and building a

relationship with your audience and with your list and you know once you start

growing your list you can keep constantly promoting products so

Facebook is definitely good to start building your list and then make money

long term but Google Ads can help you make some money in the short term just

so you can keep on reinvesting of the money that you make back into your

business so you have more money to play with and then from there once you take

the Google Ads and you take that profit then you can

put it into Facebook ads and start building your list so that you're

growing exponentially so whenever you're running Google ads there's two types of

campaigns now the first campaign is a search campaign and a search campaign

allows you to reach customers and stay in your product or service with

text ads so it's basically whenever you type something into the Google search

bar and you see those first two three or even four results highlighted and it's a

sponsor next to it that's pretty much what a search campaign is now these were

great for local businesses especially if you have like a local SEO business where

you're running a SEO and paid ads for local businesses now let's just say for

example you have a plumbing company you know one of the keywords that you're

gonna want to target with your campaign is gonna be plumber near me or best

plumber or best plumber for hot water cylinder repair or anything like that

and you can just see where that goes like if you were good if you were to do

this for a pizza restaurant you'd say for Italian restaurant near me or best

pizza near me and then that will come up as one of the first its first second or

third search result for the sponsored search now they also work great for

buyer intent keywords now this is gonna be for any affiliate offers that you

might run it might be to a review of a product it might be to a comparison or

it might even be to a free trial of a product these are all buyer intent

keywords and keywords that you can put into your campaigns for your specific

products that you can run and run on Google then up next there's video

campaigns and this is the objective here that we're gonna want to choose now

video campaigns allow you to reach and engage the viewers on YouTube and this

is either when people are searching so it's pretty much the same with the

search campaign except that this is for when people are searching on YouTube or

you can also do pre-roll ads which is basically the ads that come before you

watch a video which you know you have five seconds and then you can skip now

if you're doing any of the pre-roll ads it's important to capture people's

attention in the first five seconds or most of the time they're just gonna skip

now regardless most people will skip your ad it's just finding the people who

are interested in your product or in your niche and getting them to go

further down the sales funnel and that's why it's important especially when

you're getting started to do either a high ticket or a recurring affiliate

offer this is because like especially for high-ticket

you don't need as much traffic in order to be as profitable if you were running

some sort of campaign to an offer that only generated you $10 it's gonna be

hard to break-even whenever you're doing any type of advertising especially video

advertising but if you do campaign and you set it up and it's for a high ticket

offer and you're making anywhere from 100 to 200 or even 500 dollars per sale

you can spend a lot more marketing and you can spend up to two hundred and

fifty dollars in ads and still make $2.00 back for every dollar that you

spent because four you spent two hundred and fifty and you were able to make five

hundred dollars back now you can reinvest that five hundred dollars spend

five hundred dollars on ads and if it's the same conversion you make a thousand

dollars back so that's why it's easier to grow with high ticket and recurring

recurring affiliate offers rather than let's say like a low ticket where you

only make a couple dollars or ten to twenty dollars per Commission now video

is great as you can get your message and your call to action across relatively

fast ensuring you get clicks and opt-ins and whenever you're running video

campaigns for videos on YouTube they also help you rank higher in the organic

search results on YouTube so this way you're making money for your making

affiliate commissions by people who are going through your campaigns and you're

running ads too and you're also getting people who are searching for that

specific term you know you're getting them to click on your video and sooner

or later they're gonna end up buying from linking your video so that's why

it's powerful to start writing some video campaigns to your videos whenever

you doing affiliate marketing or even if you're trying to sell your own products

now if you run a search campaign then there's something you need to know about

the keywords to go into it so there's three different match types that you

have whenever you're running a search campaign now for this example I'm just

gonna use Canon camera as the keyword just to make things easier when I'm

explaining all the different types of match types so first off we had brought

we have broad match now with broad match it's basically just putting in the

keyword Canon cam with nothing in front or nothing behind

it into the Google Keyword planner and whenever you're running your Google Ads

so a broad match basically means that people will find your ad through all

kinds of variations of your keyword and it's not exactly the most targeted and I

probably wouldn't recommend it just because you're going to get people

searching for all different kinds of things to pretty much click on your ads

and waste your ad money so I wouldn't recommend doing this especially if

you're getting started now for example people can type in Canon camera and your

ad will show up people can type in blue camera cover just because there's camera

in your keyword and you know your ads gonna come up and if people click on

that they're pretty much 100% not gonna buy your Canon camera especially like if

you're running an ad for a Canon EOS 60d and you're trying to get an affiliate

Commission off of that and then if you know people can also pick up canons

support now that's because there's Canon in the main keyword and if people type

in can support of course they're most likely not going to buy anything from

your affiliate Commission and you're just wasting a click then the next type

of match type is a phrase match now this is whenever you put quotation marks

around your keyword now pretty much with a phrase match it's more targeted and it

lets you hone in on your intended audience better than abroad now I run

these a lot and you know have some success with these it's more targeted

and let's just say if you were to type in Canon camera people can type in blue

camera cover or Canon support because whenever people are typing something in

on Google it has to have Canon camera or right next to each other and they can't

kind of like break that up so some examples would be a Canon camera

followed by review this would be picked up if somebody were to type it in on

Google or Canon camera comparison will be picked up as well and your ad will

show you know if you're running it like a review and you're running a video

through Google or if you're running a comparison of a couple

from cameras it's also going to show up as a search campaign and lastly we have

exact match now this is whenever you put the I think they're called the brackets

before and after your keyword so the exact match pretty much it just limits

the impressions the most but they're very highly targeted impressions and the

most valuable impressions so the only way that people could see your ad is if

they were to only type in Canon camera or maybe just the only variation would

be like canon cameras and nothing else would pop up if people were to type in

Canon camera review or how to set up your Canon camera you know your ad

wouldn't be shown to them and people aren't gonna click on it and in turn

it's not gonna waste your money so I just wanted to go ahead and throw this

slide in here to pretty much let you know the different type of match types

if you are gonna go the search campaign route and advertise on Google I would

recommend starting with exact match and phrase match and once you have your

matches more hone then and you have some more data on your targeting then I would

recommend maybe going into broad match but I was just recommend sticking with

exact match and phrase match if you're gonna go the search campaign route and

lastly I just want to go over what I would recommend doing if you were to get

started with YouTube ads and video campaigns so first off you want to

create videos on your channel with the intention of ranking them especially for

buyer intent keywords now again this is like a review of comparison and free

trial just you know pretty much anything that leads the buyer or the potential

buyer closer to making the purchase then after that you want to kind of format

the video by hooking people in the first 15 seconds this is for when people find

your video through organic search and they click on it and they're gonna see

whether it's worth watching or not in the first 15 seconds and especially for

when you're running your video campaigns on YouTube

people's attention span is short when it comes to pre-roll ads so you want to

capture their attention within the first 5 seconds and let them know why they

want to watch the rest of the video and hopefully click on you

and purchase whatever it is that you're selling then you want to continue the

video with content stories and basically whatever the video topic is about just

as if you were making a normal video just answer questions offer a solution

to a problem and then end the video with a call to action to check out either

like some puppets um some type of free video some type of free guy or a

checklist that can further help them and lead them down the buyer path and lastly

you want to run some video ads to your content and your target audience because

like I mentioned earlier if you're running video campaigns it can help you

rank even higher in the organic search so that you're making money without

having to spend any money on advertising once this kind of like snowballs and it

grows and grows and grows and anyways guys that is it for today's video I hope

that you enjoyed it and I hope that you learned a little something about Google

First Impressions: Woven Calendar - Duration: 7:14.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the Keep Productive YouTube channel

today's video will give you first impressions on Woven calendar a brand new calendar tool that is touted to be the

intelligent calendar for busy professionals now

It is an application that's been developed by 2x Facebook employees

One of them Tim Campos the CIO chief information officer for six years at Facebook

So we're going to be diving into this application. It's ranking well on product temp. So let's dive into woven calendar in today's video

Hello guys

So we are looking at woven calendar now woven calendar is meant to be an intelligent calendar allowing you to manage

Meetings and your schedule ahead. It's got a few map based features shared scheduling

It's going to sistent and it touts this intelligent functionality through machine learning

So it's it seems quite quite an interesting application now, it's currently free through the beta period so it's got no pricing to it

It's available through web which we'll be demoing today

And via the App Store for iOS now

You're probably wondering what calendars does it connect up with in a moment through at the moment only

Available through G suite it has office 365 coming soon. So the premise of this application is super simple, although

It's trying to blend in the ability to use map functions to have more shared

Scheduling so you can communicate through other platforms messaging platforms and also an assistant to help you get things done

So we're going to dive into the resource show you the web version today

So let's start with this main panel in the center list tap this away

So that's simply how you get rid of that left navigation bar

You can see here that it's giving you obviously your regular Google Calendar

so it's important my Google Calendar and

I've got two week view on and you can also view it in different viewing options like for day a full week or just

day view you can also see other people's calendars too and

Also columns through other people's calendars. So that's peckers and a location calendar, too

So for example, if you have an event, let's say of got tomorrow

So if I skip forward to tomorrow's calendar if I click the location?

You can see there that it's given me an indication of the travel

So for example, I could ignore that travel or I could even end it to the calendar

But I can also click in and see the information that I have in front of me, too

So it actually allows you to see everything in advance and also plot potentially plot out your travel now

That's one of the bonus features of the experience is the ability to have maps embedded in there

So for example, if I add a location here and I just click Exeter UK if I update it

What should happen is on the map you get a bit more data

Now as you can see here, you can see the travel time as well as whether you want to add it to your calendar

too

So the goal is to make travel a lot easier and that's great if you've or someone who automatically answered travel information

To your calendar now that is one of the views inside the experience

But I tend and I probably will just keep it at this viewing option

So as you can see here, I'm gonna create a brand new meeting

You can see that I've invited Barbara along that's really easy to do. All you have to do is type in the email

I've connected it to my own calendar and I put two suggested times into so for example if I want to

Add another suggested time. All I have to do is press add time and select the amount of time

I wish the meeting to go on as well as what time in the UK

It should be now if I wanted to select the two or just choose one of those and go with it

Then I can have one other suggested time and that's the time I would ideally want it

So if I click send message I can actually directly send her a message

Like I would be sending their on email as well as adding a description and some private information like tags and notes

Now if I click schedule then what will happen is

She'll get a message in her inbox and that will go directly to our inbox as a rescheduled time

now if I see up here

You've got active are all of the active

Drafts and you can go and so you could save a few of them as well as suggested and archived if that comes to it

Now as you can see

This is what the email could be demonstrates like

this is a welcome message from the bots that they've demonstrated so you could send a pretty

Intricate message to other people so you can collaborate based on location in time

Which is quite a nice addition now first time using this I would say that it's fairly

complex to use in terms of adding the details

But I guess the suggested times comes in real handy because I guess when you're looking to find the time on a new schedule

That's something very important

So if I want to defy the team time so tomorrow let's say then it will give me a few options

As you can see it's giving me the times I'm available and the times I'm not available when I even busy

Obviously something's in my calendar. So that's a nice addition believe that came from sunrise. Well has obviously evolved from sunrise

Now down here. I've also got event updates

This is basically like a feed of all of your events coming through so you can see any changes you've made

You've also got my time so you can see any time that it's appearing on there

So the only conflicts between events and activities and stuff that

You do you can also add any other calendars as well as search. Now this application is super duper simple at the moment

It's got an iOS application and you can go into settings and change the details for the travel time

And also email labeling. So for example, you can use the email laboring to labor it Lilla

so this is the email labeling below I've detected that on so whenever there's a

Schedule related email it will label that with the label woven inside of your Gmail account

which is easier to detect inside of Gmail the only application as a whole what I would say is I

Would probably only use it for this viewing option right now. The application does look good

There's no doubting that as you can see this view is lovely and be able to add events is pretty nice as well

And I like the suggestion features

So I might just be using it as my Google Calendar replacement just temporarily on web

I'll see what the iOS version is like but in my opinion

The actual like travel when mapping, I guess at the moment doesn't have much value to me

But as time goes on and maybe I travel more because I'm remote at the moment, then it might be valuable

So again, I will include all the information about woven below. So if it's something that you're interested in, dude

Anyway, guys, that's my first impressions on woven calendar. I will be checking out

I can always guarantee you in a few months to see where it's out. Anyway guys big

Thank you for stopping by today. If you're not subscribed yet hit the subscription button

If you are a regular tease channel, thank you very much and I'll see you guys in a future video Cheers

The Mind Is Your Dark Overlord And You Have Less Control Than You Think [with Demetri Martin] - Duration: 10:16.

- [Ted Voiceover] Last time on Our Fascinating Planet.

Man looked inward in an attempt to understand himself,

and found something called the brain,

which had confused and mystified man for centuries.

Until a man examined his own self to understand his brain,

and discovered something inside it called the mind.

Which would understand the brain,

but not himself, or itself, or ourselves.

(triumphant orchestral music)

- The discovery of the mind was a major breakthrough

in the study of brain technology.

For years we wondered, what makes a brain special?

Is it simple biology?

Or if hard work and determination molded

the intellects of our greatest thinkers.

We now know that the latter accounts for almost nothing.

It turns out, much like people,

not all minds are created equal.

The mind on this model brain

is just average size.

Scientists have concluded, however,

that in great thinkers the mind is physically larger.

Therefore, metaphysically, superior.

And while most of us use

only

10%

of the brain with our minds,

a genius's mind uses as much as 82%.

It's a genetic lottery.

Our mental acuity (model brain crashing)

no more under our control than the position of the stars,

or our father's whereabouts.

(energetic electronic tones)

- [Ted Voiceover] What do we know about the mind?

Inside this small gland is a mysterious electrical gel.

This gel is made up of neurons,

tiny firecracker-like structures,

each containing about 15 thoughts.

There are more neurons in the mind

than there are in any other part of the human body,

except the genitals.

We know that the mind has an intense cherry flavor if eaten,

and smells like a charred marshmallow when burnt.

And we know this fascinating gland

has given us some of history's greatest thinkers.

(string orchestra music)

William Eleanor Shakespeare is said to have had

one of history's largest minds.

Requiring a special medical collar

to keep his head upright.

The son of the humble spear shaker, Shakespeare,

wrote hundreds of plays, poems,

and small play-poems, called "ploems" or sonnets,

using a mix of English,

and a nonsense language he made up himself,

which today we call "Pig Latin."

Crowds would travel miles to see these plays,

despite being unable to understand

more than a few words contained within them.

Scholars to this day

have been unable to decipher Shakespeare's cryptic texts,

but still delight in his surprising use

of letters and spaces and tights,

all products of a truly great mind.

But perhaps the mind most commonly associated with genius

is the one that belonged to Albert Einstein.

Known as Bert to his friends,

Einstein would use his now-famous math glasses

to devise his legendary formula E equals McSquared,

which would revolutionize science

as the first math equation to contain mostly letters.

When Einstein died doctors discovered

he had a very rare double mind brain,

that produced extra electrical charges,

which explains not only his genius,

but also his persistently unruly hair.

In the last 50 years,

some of our greatest minds

have focused on the computing part of their brains

to develop artificial brains

which we call computers.

Which is a term that is short for computing thinkers.

And some of today's greatest thinking thinkers

are hard at work

turning these computing thinkers

into thinking computers

in a field called artificial intelligence,

which is short for artificial intellectual diligence,

- One of the great problems facing artificial intelligence,

is ensuring a computer isn't just

mimicking a human's behaviors,

but believing that it is one.

That's why I developed Andrea, here.

Andrea, are you human?

- I am human.

- Are you sure you're human?

- I am human, yes.

- You see, determining the computer's ability

to live as a human on a daily basis

requires a rigorous, yet delicate, mode of study.

And, so, after a brief period of courtship,

and, of course, her consent,

I decided to take Andrea as my wife.

- [Andrea] I love you.

- We eat dinner together.

Talk about our days.

Intercourse together.

Finish each other's.

- 27,

27,

27,

27,

27,

27,

27.

- All right.

I finally started to get a true picture

about whether Andrea actually believed she was human.

- I am human, yes.

- Yes, you are.

Andrea started talking about children,

so it was then that I built

our first son, Patrick 2.0.

Patrick, say hello.

- Hello, daddy.

- Good manners.

Firm handshake, right Patrick?

- Firm.

- [Hume] Very good.

- [Andrea] I love you.

- I'm sorry honey, what?

It's really important

that they have a true, human experience.

We are a family.

(electrical beeping)

Oh my God, Andrea?

(fast electrical beeping)

- [Ted Voiceover] But our computers are no smarter

than our minds. - Please.

And no less delicate.

As computers don't have

minds of their own - Please.

They are bound the limits of our own fragile minds.

Like any other part of the human body,

the mind is delicate and susceptible to malfunctions.

Minds are prone to doubt,

and this is because they produce ideas,

which can sometimes confuse and mislead the brain.

And, in extreme cases,

can result in an almost aggressive form of questioning.

And completely confuse even the most seasoned researchers.

- Oh that one goes there, but this one can't?

And this one's inside here,

and then you woke up and there's one going, what?

- [Ted Voiceover] In some cases the mind,

when overloaded, overheated, or over-confused, can pop.

And then its pieces can get lost in the folds of the brain.

And this is where the term, to quote,

"lose one's mind" comes from.

And when one loses one's mind,

the results can be startling.

- A whale could breastfeed me, did you know that?

I've done it.

I've done it, shelled it out in Acapulco, you know?

- [Ted Voiceover] So, despite our progress

with the brain and the mind,

we are still left trying to manage

this mysterious supercomputer and its dark overlord.

The struggle between these two thinking forces within us

has created many mysteries in the human experience.

But it has also given us

some of mankind's greatest thinkers,

writers, scientists,

psychologists, and science-educator

TV presenters.

Which brings us back to a similar

science-educator art presenter, Leonardo da Vinci.

Perhaps one of mankind's best examples

of the great power the mind and brain can generate

when they work together.

No matter what hairstyle they happen to be under.

Leonardo da Vinci, like even the most common idiot

walking the street today,

shows us that we possess

within the boundaries of our skulls,

great potential

alongside potentially greater limitations.

- Leonardo da Vinci did paint the Mona Lisa after all.

Thanks to an extraordinary combination of

incredible mind and almost senseless human affection

for his hideous, grinning wife.

Our brains are our most powerful weapon.

But also, our most dangerous threat.

Astoundingly intelligent organs

hidden just out of view.

With total access to every one of our body's functions.

And this is why it is imperative

that we are ever-vigilant in our research.

For, in the age-old battle between the brain and the mind,

we can never truly know

if what we know

is, in fact,

what we know.

Or, simply, what our brains

want us

to think we know.

If you don't mind,

you know?

(uplifting orchestral music)

- We are truly in a relationship

with our home we call the Earth,

and, quite frankly, we've been bad boyfriends.

We don't buy her presents,

we forgot her birthday,

we didn't listen when she wanted us

to go learn how to do some ballroom dancing,

and we weren't busy,

we pretended like we were busy,

but we weren't busy.

We coulda gone ballroom dancin'.

(squeaking)

Mosaic Safety Controller Quick Start Part 1 - Workflow - Duration: 5:57.

Let's configure a stand-alone Mosaic safety controller to monitor a single digital input

and just send that to a status output so we can quickly walk through the basic workflow

without having to mess with all the usual safety stuff.

Open Mosaic Safety Designer.

New Project.

Fill in the blanks.

This is where you identify all the modules you will be using.

Just select them from the list.

We're just using the stand-alone M1 controller for this demo, but because I also have a ModBus

module – we need to specify it's a TCP version - and a MOS8 digital output module

connected we have to add those in too.

This is just a relay module – it doesn't communicate with the controller, so we don't

put that in the configuration.

Be sure to select the correct firmware version for your controller.

I don't know what mine is so I'll select an M1 controller with a recent firmware version.

Again, I'm just guessing right now, we'll fix it later.

Don't accidentally select this M1S module – that's a different animal.

Ours is the regular M1.

Hit OK and you see an image of your system down here.

Great, we're ready to wire this thing up.

Let's go to inputs and grab a generic non-safety pushbutton switch and drop it on the screen.

Notice it's gray – that tells us it is NOT a safety device.

If I drop an estop on the screen, we see it is yellow – which reminds us it is a safety

device.

We don't need that for this demo.

If I click on the input terminal, my options appear over here.

We have 8 inputs to choose from on the M1 controller, so I'll pick this one, and it

assigns it to the input terminal.

And we can see that is pin 17 on the controller.

We want to drive a status output so open the outputs menu and drag a status output onto

the screen.

Again, notice that it is gray not yellow – it's not a safety output.

Hold the mouse button down on this terminal and drag to wire the two together.

You can move everything around to your liking.

Click on the output pin, and now I see my output options over here.

Click on Status Output 1 to assign it to the terminal.

We now have a simple status circuit.

You would then wire pin 8 to an indicator of some kind, like this.

Click the check mark to check for errors.

Result was OK, so we are good to go.

Click this to connect to the controller.

Hmm, it won't do anything, and it's grayed out.

What's going on here?

Well, the software automatically recognizes when there is a controller connected to your

PC.

I haven't turned the power on yet.

I'll reach over and flip the power switch to ON, and sure enough, the connect button

turns blue and I can click on it to connect.

This will also happen if you haven't connected the USB programming cable yet.

We can connect at Level 1 to do monitoring only –just hit return for that – or we

can connect at level 2 which allows changes to the controller - which is what we want.

The default password for level 2 is SAFEPASS - page 79 of user manual I'm using has everything

you would want to know about passwords.

This button sends the configuration to the controller.

If you get a dialog that looks like this, it means your controller's firmware isn't

what the software expected.

Looks like we have version 3.1, but the software was expecting this.

We have two options.

Update the firmware in the controller to match what we specified the configuration – there

is a separate video that shows you how to do that – OR – So we just change the configuration

and choose the controller with the firmware version we have.

Our firmware version was 3.1 which is between 3.0 and 4.0 so we select this one.

And hit OK.

Now if we try to send the configuration it asks us if we are sure – we are – so we

hit OK.

Even for a simple circuit like this it takes a good 40 seconds to upload … so be patient.

OK, Our configuration got there without issue so let's try it.

This is important – The RUN LED isn't lit, is it?

The controller isn't running yet.

Before you can use the controller, you have to disconnect the programming environment.

We don't want folks making changes to our safety system while it's running, do we?

Of course not.

So, to disconnect the software, you can power cycle the controller, hit this disconnect

restart button, or go into monitor mode where you can actually see on this screen what your

program is doing in real time.

Let's do that one.

Monitor Mode is a level 1 thing so it doesn't require a password.

Wait a second … and now the controller is running in monitor mode.

I'll reach over and press the switch several times and sure enough, the input LED, the

Status LED and the indicator light all light up each time I press the button.

And we see the result here on the screen which is a little silly for this simple project,

but … when you have lots of logic and multiple I/O's it's a life saver.

We'll use that quite a bit in other videos.

That's the basic workflow.

Configure the hardware, drop inputs and outputs on the screen.

Assign I/O and wire them together.

Verify the program, connect to the controller as a Level 2 user, upload the program, and

restart the controller.

Not bad at all.

Is this example of a simple ESTOP circuit something you would normally use?

No, of course not.

It doesn't have redundancy, short circuit protection, Feedback, an option for manual

reset and we haven't even connected to a proper load yet.

The good news is the Mosaic Safety Controller makes it super easy to change so we'll do

all of that and a lot more in part 2 where we'll build a proper ESTOP safety circuit.

Then you will start to see just how powerful this Mosaic Safety Controller is AND how it

makes your safety control system design easier and cost less.

Interesting things about Indiana Dunes — Dunes 101: Did you know? | Indiana Dunes - Duration: 7:51.

- Hey, I'm Ranger Matt here at the Indiana Dunes.

And I'd like to share with you some of my favorite

fun facts about dunes environment, ecology, and history.

Stay to the end and I'll share with you a special secret.

Do you know what spawned these dunes

and its diverse ecosystem?

I'll give you a hint.

It was 300 feet high and moved slow, glacially slow.

That's right, over 10 thousand years ago,

local glaciers receded north leaving behind rolling hills,

wetlands, Lake Michigan, and the dunes ridge line.

I bet you didn't know that it was this specific ecosystem

that was the birthplace of the science of ecology.

That's the study of organisms and how they relate

to one another and their physical surroundings.

You can thank Henry Chandler Coles for that.

Thanks, Henry.

You can also thank environmentalists groups and individuals

who helped establish this state park and National Lakeshore.

After a decade-long battle, Congress authorized both

the Port of Indiana and the National Lakeshore.

Dunes, of course, are made of sand.

But what's sand made out of?

The sand itself is mostly made out of quartz and silica,

and left behind by glaciers.

Its composition creates an interesting sound

when you walk on it, which is why we call it singing sands.

It's even been said that there are only a few other places

in the world that have singing sands, like Dubai and Japan.

Do you know what kind of dune this is?

There are two types of dunes; foredunes and blowout dunes.

Foredunes like this are close to the beach

and they're covered with vegetation like this marram grass.

This makes for a more stabilized dune

and allows even more plant life to thrive.

Blowout dunes like this are caused by intense north winds

that rip the dunes apart.

The loose sand in this bowl makes for a moving dune

that can travel several feet per year.

Blowout dunes can sometimes be the result

of unapproved trails, what we call social trails,

which gradually turn into bigger and bigger areas of sand.

So please check your map to make sure you're

on approved trails only.

These old pieces of driftwood and old tree stumps

are called tree graveyards by the locals.

Kind of spooky, but, kind of cool.

I bet you don't know the name of this plant

and what's so special about it.

It's the fringed polygala, and it only grows

on the north slope of one specific dune,

and nowhere else in Indiana.

Its common name is gaywing, and you can see why,

as it almost looks like it can take flight.

How's that for being special?

Because it's an endangered species,

I'm gonna keep its exact location secret.

Do you know what saltation means?

No, it has nothing to do with salt.

It's what's happening here as the sand is being blown

across the shore, eventually forming larger dunes,

like this one.

Mount Tom, the tallest dune in the area at 192 feet.

This may look like a desert, but it's freezing

or snow covered for several months out of the year.

Not exactly the ideal place for a cactus.

Or is it?

This prickly pear cactus thrives

because of that desert-like sand.

For cacti to thrive, they need well-drained sandy soil

and lots and lots and lots of sun.

We have plenty of both here in the dunes.

Orchids are some of my favorite plants,

and we have more variety of them in the dunes region

than in all of Hawaii.

Can you hear that?

That's some of the more than 370 species of birds

that live or migrate through the dunes every year.

This is a list of the birds that we spotted so far.

Oh, there's a yellow-bellied sap sucker.

One of my favorite dunes critters

are these six-lined race runners.

Oh, there's one.

These lizards can dart at up to 18 miles per hour.

That's almost as fast as an Olympic sprinter.

Shhh, can you hear that?

It's a red fox, and I guarantee you it can hear us.

She can hear a mouse scratching a leaf 150 feet away.

The flora and fauna of the dunes have to survive

hot summers and cold winters.

One species of frog has figured out an ingenious way.

The wood frog can freeze its body solid and has a special

antifreeze in its body to preserve itself during winter.

I have my own reserves to get me through winter.

It's called tacos.

Do you know the hardest working animal on the dunes?

It would have to be the dune beaver.

We see them working on their dams every hour

between dusk and dawn.

I'm sure you've heard of a Venus fly trap,

but have you heard of a narrow leaf sun dew?

Or a purple pitcher plant?

Try saying that five times real fast.

These are killer plants that also feed on insects,

thanks to their clever adaptations.

You can find these little meat eaters at Pinhook Bog.

This purple lupine plant is special.

Without it, the rare karner blue butterfly

could not survive.

Unfortunately, the karner blue is no longer found

in this area, but this remarkably similar mini species

can still be found if you look closely enough.

It's just one example of the delicate nature

of dune habitats.

Those are just a few of my favorite fun facts

about the Indiana Dunes.

If you see me or any other ranger, ask us questions.

We have lots more to share.

We also have a nature center, ranger-led tours,

and programs throughout the year.

The Indiana Dunes State Park Nature Center is located

right near our campsite.

It's a great place to learn about the ecology and history

of the area.

(upbeat music)

For more tips, maps, and planning tools,

get a copy of the Indiana Dunes Activities Guide.

To get this guide and others, stop by the Indiana Dunes

Visitor Center.

It's just a couple of miles south

of the Indiana Dunes State Park entrance

right off of State Road 49.

You can also visit our website to view guides electronically

or request a guide to be mailed to you.

Go to Indiana Dunes dot com to plan your trip.

Got any fun facts we didn't cover?

Let us know in the comments.

Oh, you're still here.

You wanna know that secret, don't you?

Okay here it is.

This is trail nine at the Indiana Dunes State Park.

It's my personal favorite trail,

and it's considered by many to be one of the best trails

in the nation.

Let's just keep that between you and me, okay?

See ya on the trail.

What Is Spiritual Love? | The #WednesdayWisdom Show - Duration: 17:28.

It's the Wednesday Wisdom Show and you want to know - What is spiritual love?

I think that maybe the most fascinating topic across-the-board to all humans, no matter

where they exist - other than survival, once we have that covered - is love.

We tie the value of our life very much to our experience, our access to the experience

of love.

We also feel that the solution to our problems lies in love.

Songwriters say that, philosophers, also politicians say it.

What do we mean when we say this?

I'll tell you this now - that spiritual love does not exist in human nature at all.

It's really opposite to our nature but we need to know the difference between these

two things.

The human level of love, what we know what any adult knows -that it's not the Hollywood

version of love.

We know that love as we experience it, that fills our heart and makes us see beauty and

a changed world for awhile - you know, where we're floating on air!

This is something that happens to us but it doesn't necessarily last and we try to prepare

ourselves for the fact that this is so - to accommodate in our situations, but we're still

being run - even though the quality of absolute beauty and Springtime may leave, depart from

the setting of our marriage or relationships.

We're still looking for the same essential quality of human love that keeps us in it.

We make compromises but we're still trying to do the same thing.

When we do that we are trying, within a certain level, to get what we need out of the relationship

- to also give - but the reason that we're giving is to make sure that there is some

kind of quality that's coming back to us.

Now I know that already you're saying no - that's not true.

I'm not like that in my relationship, but let's look at it a little more closely so

that we can see the difference between these two levels.

First of all, that sense of beauty that we have in relation to each other is triggered

by a system that's owned by Nature, not by us.

If certain hormones are triggered, certain needs are trigger towards another, then they

are important to us while that's happening.

When they are no longer triggered by the functions of nature we begin to lose that sensation

and they are no longer important to us in the same way.

What do I mean by important to us?

We're not relating to the other for the sake of the other.

We are essentially relating to the other for the sake of personal fulfillment.

This is true actually even in parent and child situations, even with a mother and a child.

Now mother will give everything for that child, will take care of it while she's ill, while

she herself, the mother is ill, will sacrifice everything for the child - but in the end

when we look at what is happening there is a fulfillment that is coming to the mother

through this act - and this is love within Human Nature.

Now you must be saying to yourself "what do you want from me!

I mean how can you - first of all, I don't believe you, secondly what kind of a standard

is this?

Who can possibly act completely altruistically in every level of connection with other people!"

The fact is that spiritual love is actually against human nature.

It's not made of the same thing that our natural love is made of - so we need to know the difference

between the two.

Many, many people feel and say that it is impossible to love another unless I can first

love myself.

But this is exactly the point.

The reason that we don't love others is that we love ourselves to the exclusion of others.

That's why we feel shy.

That's why we feel inadequate.

That's why we feel burdened by our self-criticism.

What are those things?

- They are a love and protection of everything that has to do with me.

I want to make certain that my feelings won't be hurt, that others will not look at me in

such a way that I would begin to disrespect myself, that in some way I would feel inadequate,

that I would be unprotected, that my ego would be laid out there and all of my faults would

be evident to others.

I will not put myself in a place like that!

Why?

- Because I love myself and I'm focused on myself to the exclusion of others.

Think about it - It's this crippling constant evaluation only of myself and my own condition.

My thoughts can't move to others.

I can't feel what they feel.

We're unable to open our hearts and sense what's going on in the other and to think

about what would be good for them, to sort of lose ourselves in the connection with others.

It's not that I don't love myself - it's that I love myself to the exclusion of others!

That, in a nutshell, is what the two-dimensional human nature, natural love is like.

So all of this drama, pleasure, romance and giving isn't spiritual in fact it isn't even

love - it's just an attraction or repulsion to something that is pleasurable, sweet - or

something that is bitter.

And we always go for what sweet and we run away from what's bitter - because nature is

running that level of our nature.

So if we're going to look to spiritual love to save us from the situation that we're in

- I mean look at America, look at the condition of the world, look where we are with nature,

look where we are with the economic system, how we're invested in claiming that the other

is racist - all of these things that are rolling us towards terrible confrontations.

If we all have in common the idea that love and connection is the answer, then what's

the degree of love and what's the kind of connection that's actually going to do this

for us?

Love is a spiritual force that holds opposites together.

It's a sovereign, primordial intention that stands above two things that are absolutely

different and opposed to each other - and gives life to both of them, and brings them

to good.

If we want to understand how we can experience spiritual love we need to understand - how

does a human access this?

How do we have to think?

In what way do we need to relate to each other that would be called spiritual love, in such

a way that this spiritual force would be evoked and really help us in our situation?

Well, the good news is that real love, spiritual love can only exist when there is hatred.

Love has to make a bridge.

Love has to have the medium of hatred before it can be felt in any way, before it has any

work to do.

Hatred, meaning separation and opposition, is the medium through which the force, like

the force of electricity, the force of love can be experienced.

We don't experience electricity directly, we feel its action.

Unless there's something for it to work on and work against you don't feel that there's

force there.

We've spoken about this before, but the matter in which love can operate on its ultimate

level - is above hatred.

It's got to have disconnection in order to evoke the Supreme force of connection.

Try to imagine a situation where you have the ability to maintain a connection, in which

you're looking for the well-being of a person or group of people that you hate - meaning

you don't want anything to do with them, you want them to be wrong, you want your position

and the things that you think are very important to dominate.

You want to eradicate that opposition - whether it's in society, whether it's in family, whether

it's a personal thing, whether it's in you know, where you work.

You hate - meaning that there is a profound disconnection there.

You feel as though you're polar opposites.

Now imagine the ability to maintain a connection - not on the level where the difference is,

not where the- disconnection is, but at another place where you're not considering how this

is going to affect you - but the only thing you care about is that the connection should

be there.

This is going to be in a place that doesn't have any of that opposition in it.

It's going to be at a point at which you actually are connected with that person - and that

means that there is actually nothing in nature that needs to be eradicated.

Everything in nature really has a right to exist - it's supposed to be there.

Why?

Because it's intended to get us to experience love not in our nature, for our own well-being

- and focused on what's good for us or what might be dangerous to us - but on what's good

for everything.

Because that is the connective force.

Think about it.

What else would hold everything together but a feeling that wants to make sure that everything

that exists serves its proper purpose, fulfills itself in the way that it should according

to how it was made?

Are you thinking about that?

Because if you really are then all of these other things are coming up aren't they?

- "I don't want to be a doormat.

Other people will take advantage of me.

That's too dangerous!

We actually don't have anything in common!

I'm afraid to speak to these people!

I'm afraid to look for that point of connection!"

That's an indication of the difference between something that is actually true - that there

is such a place as that within us and within our hearts and in everyone that is possible

to reach - BUT we don't reach it by using our regular nature and our regular definition

of love.

This is work, and the only place where this sort of supreme primordial force of connection

can happen is in situations like that.

And we have plenty of those situations right now, So that means we're primed for it!

There's this beautiful article from a little book called the Shamati, a Kabbalistic article

called the Profit of the Land.

I'll read you a little quote here...

"It's known that nothing appears in its true form, only in its opposite, as far as light

excelleth darkness.

And this means that every thing points to another and by the opposite of something the

existence of its opposite can be perceived."

For us, everything first appears in its negative form.

Everything good first appears in our experience as its opposite form, and the degree of opposition

tells you something about the coming good.

So love is this force that connects everything and this is the thing that we need to get

to.

Everything means - despite whatever its nature is.

It's very lofty.

It's what we need and it seems that it's impossible, but it's not impossible - it's just not on

the two-dimensional level of human nature, it's not on the mechanical level.

We can learn to function above that level and that means that in order to discover the

spiritual nature, the nature of the Creator, the nature of the light - we do that by exposing

our own nature.

We do it by exposing what we call the "revelation of evil" or "hatred".

It's not a bad thing it's a functional thing, it's a good thing because of what it leads

to.

We don't learn about spirituality directly, we learn it by revealing what the limitations

of our nature is, and by learning to function above that.

So that's it for this Wednesday but I would really love to do a show where I can just

answer a lot of questions that you may have, so any kind of question that you have about

spirituality about Kabbalah, about life problems, things that you're curious about - the deep

questions that you have - put them in the comments and I'll do a whole show just taking

all of your questions and trying to answer them all - that should be fun.

If you think that this is fun in fact, then please like, share, comment and subscribe.

Forgotten Realms Lore - Gnomes - Duration: 6:12.

Hey everybody Jorphdan here the PH is silent and in this video I'd like to talk about

gnomes!

I've talked a bit about gnomes in a few videos now, links in the doobly do for more

info but let's attempt to cover them in more depth.

It's not a tall subject, and I won't be short with you.

I think we can talk about gnomes without being small to one another.

Let's dive in.

Gnomes are also known as the Forgotten Folk.

This is because of their somewhat sad history in the Forgotten Realms.

They were enslaved by other races for generations, and when finally winning their freedom Gnomes

have enjoyed their anonymity and the protection it offers.

The Gnomes believe they came from gems in the earth.

The different gnomes arose from different gems, and this also is to explain their love

of gems as well as their urge to make homes in the ground.

Diamonds became rock gnomes, emeralds became forest gnomes, and rubies turned into deep

gnomes.

The head of the gnomish pantheon Garl Glittergold found these gnomes and breathed life into them.

I like to think they hatched like eggs, but legend says the gems opened like flowers releasing

the first gnomes.

Garl Glittergold is a tricky deity that, like his gnome children, loves to pull pranks.

The gnomes were first enslaved by the Kobolds, and legend says Garl Glittergold tricked the

Kobold deity Kurtulmak, collapsing the earth around him and trapping him in an endless

underground maze.

This freed the gnomes but Kobolds and Gnomes have had a strong hatred for one another ever

since.

Gnomes were also slaves in ancient civilizations such as the Netheril and Calimshan.

Gnomes are industrious intelligent, and good natured.

Despite the Kobolds they have few enemies and live life keeping a low profile.

They avoid larger folk with their magic and empires keeping instead to tiny out of the

way settlements.

Gnomes in this sense are rather boring and their history doesn't have much to it.

They didn't conquer any areas of Faerun.

They didn't fight in any great wars.

This is why they are often referred to as the "Forgotten Folk."

They were always present in Forgotten Realms history but never in focus, never in the forefront

of story.

Gnomes average slightly over 3 feet tall and weigh 40 to 45 pounds and can live up to 5

centuries.

Although this height, weight, and lifespan can differ with different sub races of gnomes

that we'll get into later.

They love life and cherish every moment they have.

Not often taking up an adventuring path, the gnome that starts their adventure will squeeze

as much enjoyment out of it as possible.

Gnomes love jokes, pranks, and puns; but can be very dedicated to their more serious tasks.

This makes them excellent inventors, tinkers, alchemists and engineers.

There are three types of gnomes, Deep Gnomes, Forest Gnomes, and Rock Gnomes.

Deep Gnomes are the gray skinned gnomes that live in the Underdark.

Many often think they are evil like the underdark cousins of Dwarves or Elves.

But the Svirfneblin as they are known are just as friendly as their surface counterparts.

Note though the underdark has hardened them to outsiders, knowing they can't trust the

Duergar or the Drow many Deep Gnomes keep to themselves.

Much of the deep gnome history is lost.

They don't keep records.

Instead living in the moment.

Because of this there have been many Deep Gnome cities scattered throughout the underdark

but they become abandoned when needed and new ones will spring up.

The most famous Deep Gnome city is Blingdenstone founded in -690 DR.

There is information on this one because of a famous renegade Drow that lived with the

deep gnomes for a while before making his way to the surface and Mithral Hall.

Forest Gnomes are very shy and reclusive.

Many larger folk will "discover" them nearby only to learn they've been living

in the area for centuries.

These particular gnomes go to great lengths to be quiet and avoid contact with others.

They have a great love of nature and often stay in large forests away from civilization.

These gnomes prefer to be left alone.

Not having a detailed history it's hard to say the impact forest gnomes have had on

the Forgotten Realms.

It's possible that numerous forests and beasts were saved by their silent and sneaky

intervention.

Sadly no history books tell the brave tales of the forest gnomes.

Forest gnomes are not distrustful of others, and only wish for you to enjoy the forest

as they do.

They are often surprised when others have interest in them, as they don't fancy themselves

as anything special.

But it might be that very attitude towards themselves and their surroundings that make

them truly someone to admire.

Few forest gnomes take up adventuring.

Not calling themselves and adventurer they still might thwart an evil plot and protect

others and their forest home.

If left with the possibility they'd much rather stay home in peace.

While staying home they do take up craftsmanship and become experts in those skills.

Forest gnomes make excellent bards, druids, even clerics but few gnomes consider themselves

warriors.

Seeing a ranger or fighter forest gnome would be something unusual for sure.

Rock Gnomes are the gnomes most people in Faerun are familiar with.

These gnomes are an inquisitive people and can be found all over Faerun as technicians,

alchemists, and inventors.

As do all gnomes they have an uncanny sense with illusion magic and also make wonderful

illusionist wizards.

Rock Gnomes enjoy life in all it's ways, from work, to play, to study.

It's the process and the journey that are important to a Rock Gnome not necessarily

the goal.

These gnomes are counted as one of the major races of Faerun, despite being in less population

than elves, dwarves, or humans.

There has never been a gnome empire or even a country but if the rock gnomes have a homeland

it would be the islands of Lantan.

Lantan lies north of the Chultan peninsula and is home to the largest population of gnomes

in Faerun.

It is an island of wondrous invention and bustling commerce.

It was here that Gond the god of invention appeared to the world as a gnome.

Many young rock gnomes took this as a sign that it was time for the gnomes to invent

a new way of life.

To solidify themselves within Faerun's history.

Lantan is also home to the invention of smoke powder; which is basically gunpowder.

This created weapons that have the power of a wizard but take little skill and understanding

to master.

This secret was given to them by Gond for sheltering him during the time of troubles.

It's banned by many cities but the Church of Gond in Lantan freely manufactures smoke

powder.

And that's it for today.

Gnomes are fun and I think you could have a great time being an atypical gnome such

as a forest gnome ranger, possibly a beastmaster with a badger friend, you could even ride

your pet as a mount.
