Konnichiwa -Konbawa

-And welcome back to LHUGUENY and welcome to LHUGUENY for you first-timers

This is a little behind the scenes video of something a little bit different. We're here in Tokyo, Japan

Filming a music video for our new original music project. Our band called "The Voice Tree".

Konnichiwa - Konnichiwa, we are here in the Imperial Park of Kyoto and

We're shootin'

-And look at this beautiful structure behind us this beautiful temple.

So earlier there was a couple walking from over there and

We were walking toward the gate, they were as well

but they were a lot closer than we were and this alarm started going off and we were kind of freaking out because we thought

That we set the alarm off and they announced that we could not

Proceed to walk toward the gate any closer. So scary. -But, it wasn't us. It was the couple we didn't get too close

♪ Even in peacetime, we always have to fight ♪

♪ How should we react ♪

So we had a long productive day of shooting behind this we have the Nijō Castle

which we didn't end up shooting at, we just arrived here and realized there's quite a long line of people

-And we... we're kind of running on empty here. We didn't really eat lunch today

Just had a very small breakfast and shot all day long

-Yes -Very successful day of filming, but we are exhausted and hungry

So... time for dinner?

-Yes, that sounds very good

-Oishii desu ne

Bonjour or shall I say konnichiwa?

This is our

breakfast of champions before our filming at the YouTube Space in Tokyo

Complete with this

amazing view of the city.

I personally prefer it at night with all the lights but this is pretty incredible nonetheless

So here we are in Studio 2 at the YouTube Space in Tokyo about to shoot on the green screen

Alright getting ready to shoot Whit on the keyboard. Lights! Camera! And... action!

Now, it is time for the dancing shots, are you ready? Let's see them moves

Mmm, lay it down girl. Oh, yeah. Give me some vaudeville

Look at my butt Dennis, it's the best butt you've ever seen. I'm George Michael

I told the video producer the shot was supposed to be guitar shot, buttshot, hair,

Butt, boot, butt, hair... butt, hold on the butt, hold on the butt. It's a formula but it bloo*y works

Cut! And that's a wrap. Break to get some water. I hear there's a barista in town so...

Yeah, baby, yeah! Groovy baby, groovy! Yeah, baby, yeah!

Alright, here we go. Leap of faith swan dive.

Doesn't hurt that much at all actually. Time for a quick coffee break. -Oh, yes.

Very necessary.

All right, now we're switching to the white screen background. Gonna shoot some stuff in super slo-mo

All right, well we just finished shooting our last sequence, me jumping like a hundred times over

in the slow motion camera

So we're just quickly gonna do time-lapse of the city before the sun goes down because we're up on like the

what, the 29th floor or something? -Yes. -Huge skyscraper for a quick shot. But other than that

-And thank God it's gonna be dark by then because my forehead is looking mighty shiny. -Oh, yes

It's shiny up in here. But other than that, that's a wrap.

It's time for post-production. For the most part, it's taking shots

and just

syncing them up, editing them to the right spot that seemed to fit but for some of them like what we shot at the YouTube

Space on the green screen there are some visual effects that need to be imposed

So for an example we use this shot of Whitney playing the keyboard here, which is shot on the green screen

and so the first step is to bring it into After Effects here and

move it so that Whitney's in the center because she was slightly off and

then the next thing we're going to do is

implement an effect called "Keylight" which will get rid of the green behind or you select a color which is the green and

then it will get rid of it, like so and

Then we also wanted Whitney to be black and white for this shot. So

We use this thing called "Tritone" which changes everything to a certain color palette. In this case it's white, gray and black.

And there we go

So that's one example

And then the... so there's these types of shots that we decided to do and then the other types of shots were dancing silhouettes.

Here's... Whitney's dancing silhouette. We implemented a mask, which is basically this thing that allows you to sort of

move or get rid of parts of the frame

So there's less to green-screen and to composite, so we're gonna go ahead and key light to composite out the green

So, there we go

so now it's just Whitney dancing, and then we reimplement the "Tritone" like what we did for the

Black and white, but this time instead of making it white, gray and black

We're just gonna make everything red, and that will turn her into a silhouette and then we'll add a little bit of blur

Just a tiny bit

Just for smooth movement and there you have it and then there was one more thing which we implemented which was

some animated electric bolts which were placed in After Effects

but in fact they were hand drawn before in

Adobe Flash using our Wacom Cintiq tablet and then placed into After Effects

Frame by frame which is a long and grueling period but we think it's worth it and we hope you think it's worth it, too
