Your First App is Like Your First Car - Duration: 5:32.

Hey, this is the daily overpass, my name is Eric and I make apps!

Now today, I wanna talk about how your first app is like your first car!

Alright so, do you remember your first car?

The first car you've ever owned yourself.

Mine was like this flashy red subaru.

I was 19 years old, I may have been 19 or 20, I was in the army, I got stationed at

my first duty station in Hawaii, and I wanted to have my own car.

I wanted to have the independence, I just got my licence not that long before, so I

went down to the used car lot and I looked at all the cars and of course there's always

the really cheap one, like 500 dollars, 600 dollars, the kind that just breaks down all

the time, this really old car, and then I saw this flashy one for like 3000 dollars,

which was still not a lot of money back then but I had to take out a loan because I wasn't

being paid that much.

So I wanted to go for the flashy red one.

I didn't wanna get one of those old beat-up cars, I wanted the nice looking one.

So I took out a loan - I wanted one that got the ladies, I guess that's really what it

was.

So I took out a loan and I got a really nice car.

It wasn't....when I say really nice, it's comparatively, like, it was used, it was several

years old but it looks flashier than the others so I paid extra.

So I drove this thing around for not very long before it broke down.

It still broke down all the time, but it got to the point where it broke down and I couldn't

fix it anymore.

So I took it to the shop and they said "you've burnt out your whole engine, you blew your

head gasket because you haven't put any oil in the car", and I said "I check the oil all

the time!

I know that I'm supposed to check the oil, I check the dipstick, I do all the stuff and

the guy opens up the hood, he goes in and he checks, and he reaches down and finds a

dipstick that was not the one that I was using.

I think I was checking the transmission fluid.

I know I should've read the book, I was an idiot, I was like 19 / 20, whatever.

He pulls out another one that is bone dry, and I've completely burnt out the inside of

the engine so within just a few months my car was no longer usable and I had like 2

and a half years of this loan to pay off because I went for the flashy car before I really

knew anything.

And of course there was...and there's all the other, park to close to a post so you

put a scratch on it there or a ding in it there, all that kind of stuff.

Your first car, that's the one that you mess up all the time.

I'm having this conversation with my kids too.

They want the flashy car, I'm thinking "just get something until you get really good at

driving, because if you're gonna mess up at all, it's probably gonna be on the first car".

Now, what does that have to do with apps?!

I say the same thing to developers.

Get an app on the market.

You have your big idea and you need to put it out there, but a lot of times you're gonna

find out things - that first apps gonna be the one you make mistakes on.

It's the one you can't figure out how to deploy, you might deploy it and it might have some

issues with rejections or whatever, all that kind of stuff.

That's when you're gonna start figuring out how people use things, and when you put out

your second one you're gonna have all that experience to go from that to that one.

Now, that's not to say, if you hire someone to do the app for you, you expect them to

have that experience already, right?

You expect them to already have gone through that process.

I have hired developers in the past who did not know how to release an app to the app

store, despite the fact that they were experts.

It was ridiculous.

When it was time to go live they couldn't figure out how to do the signing certificates,

they didn't know how to do anything.

I had one developer lose my key store file, it was my first developers, they lost the

key store file - nobody knows what ever happened to it.

So releasing the second version we had to release another one, all this kind of stuff.

So if you hire someone, you expect them to have that experience to have had their first

car already.

It's like having a driver, they already know.

But if you're releasing your first one - it goes back to yesterday when I saw talking

about perfectionism.

Part of the process of releasing an app or putting an app on the app store is going live.

So, you can't become an expert before you go live, it's when you go live, that's when

you start to get the feedback.

When you get behind the wheel of your own car, that's when you start to realise the

feel for it, how much distance you have between things, not bumping into things, not riding

the transmission, all that kind of stuff.

So today, it's a really simple one, a nice Sunday video to compare your first app with

your first car.

I think it's more important to get something on the app market, to get something release,

to start getting user feedback that it is, to make everything perfect, to invest all

your life savings into something.

Unless you hire a developer and they know what they're doing.

they know what they're doing, they put something on the app store and they've done it before

and they can help you with that learning - that's why you hire professionals for anything.

That's why I could re-tile my bathroom, and I have done, but it was a mess!

But if I hired a professional, I expect that they've tiled bathrooms before, they know

what to look for, all that kind of stuff.

Anyway, I'm kinda all over the place again today.

Anyway I hope you guys are having a great weekend, that's it for today, I'll talk to

you guys again tomorrow!

(WIND HOWLING)

STEVE: He can't have been here more than a few hours.

BUCKY: Long enough to wake them up.

(LOUD THUD)

(DOOR CREAKING)

You ready?

Yeah.

You seem a little defensive.

It's been a long day.

At ease, Soldier. I'm not currently after you.

Then why are you here?

Could be your story's not so crazy.

Maybe.

Ross has no idea I'm here. I'd like to keep it that way.

Otherwise, I gotta arrest myself.

Well, that sounds like a lot of paperwork.

(SCOFFS)

It's good to see you, Tony.

You too, Cap.

Hey, Manchurian Candidate, you're killing me.

There's a truce here. You can drop...

IRON MAN: I got heat signatures.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: How many?

Uh, one.

HELMUT ZEMO: (ON SPEAKER)

If it's any comfort,They died in their sleep

Did you really think I wanted more of you?

What the hell?

I'm grateful to them, though.

They brought you here.

Please, Captain.

The Soviets built this chamber to withstand

the launch blast of UR-100 rockets.

IRON MAN: I'm betting I could beat that.

HELMUT ZEMO: Oh,I'm sure you could,Mr. Stark

But then you'd never know why you came.

You killed innocent people in Vienna just to bring us here?

I've thought about nothing else for over a year.

I studied you.

I followed you.

But now that you're standing here...

I just realised...

there's a bit of green in the blue of your eyes.

(HELMUT ZEMO CHUCKLES)

How nice to find a flaw.

You're Sokovian.

Is that what this is about?

Sokovia was a failed state long before you blew it to hell.

No.

I'm here because I made a promise.

You lost someone?

(CLICKS TONGUE)

I lost everyone.

And so will you.

An empire toppled by its enemies can rise again.

But one which crumbles from within?

That's dead.

Forever.

Tại Sao Trung Quốc Muốn Sữa Bò New Zealand? | Trung Quốc Không Kiểm Duyệt - Duration: 10:42.

On this episode of China Uncensored,

we make a trip to the farm!

Hi, Chris Chappell here in New Zealand.

You might be surprised to learn that

the rolling hills of green behind me

are actually rolling hills of milk.

Dairy is big business here in New Zealand.

That's one reason why New Zealand is buttering up to China.

Dairy is New Zealand's biggest export

and makes up about 6 billion dollars of the country's GDP.

And since China is New Zealand's biggest trading partner,

a lot of that dairy ends up in China.

So, there's a big demand in Chinese markets

for New Zealand milk?

There is.

Yeah.

I think in the last financial year

that the interim results came out,

about a quarter of New Zealand's milk

goes into China.

Wow!

New Zealand Dairy farmer Chris Falconer

gave us a tour of his farm!

I should not have worn a suit.

Someday, you'll be a tasty steak.

Chinese consumers want to buy New Zealand products

because they trust the provenance of the raw products.

The milk that we produce,

they know that it's produced like this.

They know that the standards of the processing are very high.

The manufacturing standards are very high...

I think that they're willing to pay a little bit more than they would

for a product from another country

just because of the quality standards that we have.

And Chris gave me a good idea

of just what goes into a glass of New Zealand dairy.

So, how often do you have to rotate the fields?

Basically, you understand how fast the grass is growing.

That dictates the speed of the rotation.

So, you want the grass to go from A to B

in the time it takes to get around the paddocks.

So in Spring that can be 20 days,

and in Winter that can be 80 days.

This is, by and large,

a pretty sustainable deal you've got here?

Well, yeah.

We don't ...

we operate on the basis that the land can sustain the animals...

So, all these cows stay grass-fed their whole lives?

Oh, yeah!

Yup.

They're never inside.

The only time they get a roof over their heads

is when they're a baby calf

and they get put in the shed to be reared.

When they go in to get milked,

there's a roof over the cowshed, but others than that...

Do you think that affects the quality of the dairy?

It absolutely does.

Yeah.

So, there's been a lot of work done on

the contents of pasture-fed milk.

Again, there's all these people taking omega three pills.

Grass-fed beef and grass-fed milk is high in omega threes,

high in complex linoleic acids, high in antioxidants.

So, it contains a lot of those things that people

are supplementing themselves with... so, they-

I think I need to get a jar of raw milk from you before I leave.

I think we can organize that.

I think we can organize that.

Yeah.

It's that kind of quality that appeals to Chinese consumers.

In 2008, China was rocked by a scandal involving Sanlu—

a Chinese dairy company that added a toxic chemical

called melamine to its milk powder.

Melamine made the milk's protein content

appear higher in tests.

But it also made more than 300,000 sick

and killed at least 6 babies.

So a lot of Chinese consumers started looking overseas

for dairy they could trust.

It's cows like these that provide China

with the lactose they tolerate.

How long has this one been around?

Well, I think she's about five or six years old.

That cow.

So in her life, how much milk will this cow produce?

She'll produce about 350 kilos of milk solids a year,

which is the equivalent of about 4000 liters of milk per year.

Wow.

So 4000 liters of milk is at

the low end of the production scale

in most parts of the world,

but it's high in fat and protein so it's got [inaudible] choice.

So a little less production, but higher quality.

Higher quality, less production,

and most importantly, less cost.

Less cost.

So how much will that be worth?

That cow?

Well, the cow and the liquid gold that comes ...

Well, she produces as I say,

about 350 kilos of milk solids a year

and they're worth six dollars a kilo,

so you're about 2000 dollars worth of milk.

And she's probably worth about 15 or 16 hundred dollars.

So she produces more than her value in milk every year.

And also manure too, right?

Yeah, that's just part of the recycling system that we run here.

So, yeah.

The sun provides energy here

and she converts the energy in her rumen into milk.

Chris Falconer works with New Zealand's biggest dairy co-op, Fonterra.

Fonterra is the world's largest dairy exporter.

It gets its milk products from more than

10,000 New Zealand dairy farmers,

who also own shares in the company.

In 2015, Fonterra invested in

a Chinese company called BeingMate.

This is their logo,

so you know I'm not making that name up.

Fonterra paid nearly half a billion dollars

for an 18 percent stake.

But BeingMate was run...badly.

Beingmate's share price has dropped dramatically

since July 2017.

And that means Fonterra has lost big.

So, how do you feel about Fonterra's investment

with the Chinese company Beingmate?

Well not tremendously happy.

424 million that was written off

in the last set of results is there for all to see.

It's not something you can hide from.

Certainly, the management aren't hiding from it.

They're disappointed.

They thought they had done a very good job on diligence

and they'd gone through the process as well as they could, but ...

You know, that's a difficult place to operate.

And you have to remember also,

that as big as stake as it sounds,

it was only 18 percent of the company.

So, the company will continue, you're a minor share holder

so the company will continue to do what the company continue to do.

We can only influence so much.

Having said that,

I think it would be fair to say,

there was a degree of naivete thinking that

everything that was disclosed to you

was all that there was.

It's never been that easy a place

to do business for New Zealanders

and I just think maybe they should have taken

a slightly more cautionary approach to the investment.

What do you think the long term effect

will be on New Zealand dairy farmers?

It's hard to know.

They're working with the management from Beingmate

to improve the business returns

and to put it on a stable footing

so it does what it's meant to do for New Zealand farmers,

which is to provide an avenue for markets and branding.

So, I think, FrieslandCampina, for example,

the Dutch cooperative, have stake in our company in China,

and they just wrote the whole lot off.

They're gone.

They just walked away from it.

Do you think that's an option for Fonterra?

Well, I think that you shouldn't hold onto a mistake

just because it took you a long time to make it.

So, I think time will tell.

I think, at the moment we're being told

is that they're looking to help the company improve returns.

So I guess that's where they're gonna go,

but I don't think there'll be much tolerance

from shareholders for any further losses.

I think the next director elections

could be very interesting for some people.

Yeah.

Especially since the CEO of Fonterra

is the highest paid CEO in New Zealand, right?

That is true.

That is true.

And there's a bit of talk about that as well.

I can imagine.

The BeingMate loss was not Fonterra's first rocky investment in China.

Before the melamine scandal broke in 2008,

Fonterra owned a 43 percent stake in Sanlu.

Oops.

But since China is such a huge market for New Zealand milk,

Fonterra is still in it for the long haul.

And here in New Zealand,

the milk will still flow.

This is where the cows get milked.

So, 40 cows each side.

They come in.

They line up with their rump here, on an angle.

And we come along and we put the cups on them

and by the time this row is finished

the other side is rolled in

and we just basically switch them over to the other side.

Repeat until all the cows are gone.

We're milking about eight rows at the moment.

Okay.

How do the cows like it?

They're very happy.

And do you ever take a little bit off the top for yourself or your kids?

I've been known to regularly, yes.

I usually have a pint every morning.

A pint.

Do you want to try some milk?

I'd love it, cheers!

Let's get some milk.

So that should be enough.

Alright.

Oh, that looks thick.

Try it.

That's the best milk I've ever had in my life.

Really?

It's fresh.

Oh, it's fresh alright.

Yeah.

Yep.

You can almost taste the grass.

So now we know how milk goes from grass to cow to Chris!

Which is why I'm drinking as much New Zealand milk now as I can.

It's going to be a deeply unpleasant flight back to New York.

Chug chug chug chug!

Trump Catches Entire Nation Off Guard With Announcement On ENDING Federal Ban - Duration: 6:44.

Trump Catches Entire Nation Off Guard With Announcement On ENDING Federal Ban.

Several months ago Attorney General Jeff Sessions dropped a bomb… or bong in this case…

on the marijuana market when he rescinded policies allowing states to legalize pot with

a memo from the Department of Justice.

Sessions has a long history of being a proponent of the "War on Drugs" and anti-legalization.

Sessions is also an active supporter of the controversial practice known as civil asset

forfeiture.

This practice is the legal process in which law enforcement officers take assets from

persons suspected of involvement in a crime or illegal activity without necessarily charging

the owners with wrongdoing.

Many view this as a violation of due process which is a foundational Constitutional principle

mentioned in both the fourth and fourteenth amendments and derived directly from the Magna

Carta during the original drafting of the document.

After Sessions' controversial memo, Senator Cory Gardener (CO-R) threatened to block all

future DOJ nominations in an effort to protect his state's sovereignty to make their own

decisions as guaranteed by the tenth amendment.

In an apparent standoff, President Donald Trump stepped in promising that he would support

all congressional efforts to protect states that have chosen to legalize marijuana.

The Washington Post reported that Gardener was satisfied with this promise from President

Trump.

He stated – "Since the campaign, President Trump has consistently supported states'

rights to decide for themselves how best to approach marijuana.

Late Wednesday, I received a commitment from the President that the Department of Justice's

rescission of the Cole memo will not impact Colorado's legal marijuana industry.

Furthermore, President Trump has assured me that he will support a federalism-based legislative

solution to fix this states' rights issue once and for all.

Because of these commitments, I have informed the Administration that I will be lifting

my remaining holds on Department of Justice nominees."

Now it seems President Trump is going to make good on that promise stating in effect, "if

you like your dispensary, you can keep your dispensary."

A new bipartisan bill is being presented by Gardner and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (MA-D) in

an effort to ensure just that.

The legislation is known as the Strengthening the Tenth Amendment Through Entrusting States

(STATES) Act and would allow states to regulate marijuana without federal interference by

amending the Controlled Substances Act so that it does not supersede any state, territory

or tribal laws "relating to the manufacture, production, possession, distribution, dispensation,

administration, or delivery of [marijuana]"

Gardner quipped that trying to roll back pot laws would be like "putting ketchup back

in the bottle" and also noted that current finance laws have made it difficult for legal

marijuana businesses to operate.

"This city of Denver, the state of Colorado, can collect taxes … they can take it to

the bank," Gardner said.

"But if you're in the business, if you work for the business, you can't get a bank

loan or set up a bank account because of the concern over the conflict between the state

and federal law.

We need to fix this public hypocrisy."

He and Warren joined forces in April 2018 stating they would be working together in

an effort to hold President Trump accountable for the promises he made during his campaign

with respect to states rights.

Warren states the goal of the bill is an effort to "ensure that each state has the right

to determine for itself the best approach to marijuana within its borders."

Meanwhile, President Trump has indicated his support of the bill putting him in direct

opposition to Sessions' hardline stance that marijuana is the devil….or something.

Politico reported on President Trump's comments regarding the bill and his intentions to sign

it, stating – "Pressed on whether he supports the measure while addressing reporters outside

the White House on Friday, the president said he supports it now and will 'probably'

support it going forward.

'I really do.

I support Senator Gardner,' Trump said of the lawmaker's bill.

'I know exactly what he's doing, we're looking at it.

But I probably will end up supporting that, yes.'"

This bill is being presented on the heels of the Canadian Senate voting to legalize

recreational marijuana in a 56 to 30 vote.

A handful of amendments have been left to be decided on by the House of Commons before

the policy can be enacted, however.

The Independent reports – "While there is not yet a defined date when the drug will

go on sale, clearing the Senate appeared to be the last serious hurdle for the bill, with

a number of Conservative senators opposing legalization.

Health minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor said earlier this year that cannabis would only

go on sale a few months after legalization because new retail systems needed time to

launch successfully."

The legalization of marijuana is one of the more controversial issues in our country currently

and it is a far more nuanced conversation than many people would like to admit from

both sides of the aisle.

Some people would like to see the full prohibition of marijuana completely lifted and therefore

allow people to simply walk down the street practicing puff, puff, pass as they wish.

Yet others wish to decriminalize marijuana so people are not going to jail for years

over a joint effectively attempting to address the issue of what many perceive as victimless

crimes.

Some believe this is a step towards addressing such pressing issues as the school to prison

pipeline and mandatory minimums by more effective means than they have been addressed in the

past.

America currently boasts the largest prison population in the world.

Much of that is for low-level drug offenders with no violent history or "victim" for

their crime.

Yet others view marijuana as a so-called "gateway drug" and believe it should be illegal with

harsh sentencing imposed on offenders.

Regardless, it is a complicated issue and one that puts President Trump at odds with

Sessions if the president intends to live up to his promise to Senator Gardner as well

as the American people.

One thing is clear, President Trump does not seem to much care what Sessions thinks and

has been very public in his criticisms of the Attorney General to date.

All indications point to President Trump living up to his promise and pulling the trigger

on legalization, finally.

What do you think about this?

How to Pollinate Squash, Two Methods | Garden Vlog - Duration: 5:46.

If you're new at growing squash and you're seeing a lot of this, instead of a

lot of this, you may need to hand pollinate your flowers. And I'm here to

tell you it's super easy. Lok at the bounty of flowers on this volunteer vine

this morning. I have three females ready for bees, but we do have one, two, three...

all of these males are coming off of this vine, which is coming off of here,

and all the females are coming off this vine, which is growing out of this sweet

potato bed. Oh, where are the bees when you need them? Come on, bees! This is also

a volunteer squash. We've got a big beautiful male flower open. Oh, there's

another male, so we need some bee action, big time! But I think what I'll do is do

a little pollination. If you've never grown squash before, this is what's left

of an unsuccessful pollination. Tis is part of the female flower before the

bloom dropped off, and it just will turn dark and fall off if it didn't get

pollinated. And here's one that's possible, and if it's still here in a

week there's a good chance it will be viable.

Here's another female that didn't get pollinated. So what I'm going to do is

I'm going to take the largest male. I'm going to break that off, and I'm going to

rub that on to the female flower.

So, Igot some pollen on my hand just right there,

gonna be careful.

Okay.

And this. Okay. Now, if the bees also do their job, we're very likely to have

some female flowers turn into pumpkins or winter squash. This is how you can

tell the female flower from the male flower, is it's swollen on the bottom and

this will become your pumpkin or winter squash if the female gets pollinated. The

male flower just has a straight stem like that. All these are males coming off

one vine and all females are coming off the other vine, so I'm glad I got the two

vines.

If you decide you don't want to try to use the male flower, you can use a swab.

I'm using a black swab, so that you can see the pollen better, but it's very easy

to brush some particles onto a swab and then brush them on to the female. Now this way,

the bees still get to do their job. They still have a beautiful, big, male flower

there with more pollen on it, and we'll see what happens with this female. But

all the females that I dusted the other day have gotten bigger, so it's a very

good sign. Thanks so much for following this

channel and liking my videos and sharing them with your friends, and I'll see you

in the next one.
