This Deegan 38 Grille with 10-inch LED light bar is for those of you that have a 2007-2018
JK that are looking for an aftermarket grille that's going to completely change up the look
of your Jeep but also add some functionality of having a light bar.
Now, I will say right up front I know this is not going to be for everybody, some of
you guys aren't into the angry eyes look.
But if you do like that, if you wanna change up the look of your Jeep, if you wanna give
it a little bit of additional attitude and give it a different look than it rolled off
the assembly line with, this grille is absolutely going to do that, and it also integrates the
functionality of the light bar, which I just talked to you about, which is something that
I do like.
This also has some additional styling cues built into it that some of the other options
in the market are not going to have.
Overall, this is gonna be a very easy grille to install, one out of three wrenches, even
the wiring for the light is very easy, because this is a KC light bar, so it does come with
a KC wiring harness, which are very, very easy to use.
And we'll talk more about that install in just a second.
So as I mentioned, this is going to give you a lot of attitude and drastically change up
the look of the front of your Jeep, and it has some styling cues that not a lot of the
other grilles on the market do have.
Now, because this has the built-in light, that additional functionality, and it's not
just a style piece, this is gonna be more expensive than some of the other options out
there, and you would expect that.
You're getting a whole light and a wiring harness and not just the plastic grille.
So if you are going to use the light, if you like that functionality, and you like the
look of this, I think this is gonna be a pretty fairly priced option.
As for construction, this is going to be an ABS grille.
It does completely replace that factory front grille on your Jeep.
It does have the angry eyes slant to it.
It does have some perforation over the turn signals, and that's one of the styling cues
that, again, not a lot of other options on the market are going to have.
So that does make this a little bit unique.
This is still a seven-slot grille, but as you can see, the three slots in the middle
are smaller, because of this opening here, and that's where this light bar sits.
This does come with a bracket that allows you to mount that light bar directly in the
grille and all the wiring to make it work.
So whether you have additional lighting and you're looking for even more, or you want
something that's really sleek, smooth, integrated, this bar ends up being pretty much frenched
right into the front grille.
I think that this is a pretty sleek way of running an additional light bar.
And, again, this is a KC light bar.
This is a high-quality light bar.
Sometimes, when we get pieces that have lights with them or lights built into them, those
lights probably aren't the ones that you wanna run if you're looking for something that really
performs.
But that's not this.
This is a high-quality KC light bar.
It's really gonna throw a lot of lumens.
It's going to give you the dual beam pattern that you are used to seeing, flood on outside,
spot on the inside.
This is a very, very functional piece combined with a piece, the rest of the grille, that
is going to drastically change up the look of the Jeep to really getting two things out
of this grille.
Now, this does come in matte black.
It's designed to be bolted right up to your Jeep in that way, or if you wanted to, you
could always take this and have it sprayed, because it is ABS.
So if you wanna do something even more custom, color match your Jeep, or do something crazy,
you can do that as well.
This grille, including the light and the wiring harness, comes in at $400, and I do think
that's pretty fair.
There are other grilles that are just black angry eyes grilles or even just grilles that
are unpainted that you need to paint, and you can't install unpainted, that are gonna
be close to if not that same cost, and they don't have the light.
So overall, I think you're getting a ton of quality here.
You're getting form and you're getting function.
You're getting a lot for your money.
So I do think $400 is a fair price.
Now, I'll have a member of the install team show you how you get this installed on your
JK.
We're gonna start this install off by opening the hood up.
We're gonna remove six push pins on the top of the grille, and we're gonna unclip our
turn signals, and we're gonna remove the grille from the Jeep.
And the last boy's down here.
All right.
Now, we're ready to pull the grille out slightly and unplug our turn signals.
Now, we're gonna do the same thing on the other side.
You're gonna wanna pull the little red tab out and release the clip.
All right.
Now, we're ready to remove our factory grille.
We're gonna pull the top edge out and pull gently on the bottom here to release the clips.
Now that we've got our grille out, we need to transfer the turn signals over to our new
grille, and we're gonna simply push these tabs in, right here, to release turn signals,
and then we're gonna pop them out.
All right.
Now, we're ready to transfer our turn signals over to our new grille.
We're gonna position these so the plug is facing out.
And they simply snap right into place
I'm gonna do the same thing on the other side, connector facing out.
All right.
Next thing we're gonna do is make some room for our light bar mount.
We're going to unclip this wiring harness from the radiator support.
All right, so we're gonna drill these four holes out right here so we can insert our
rivnut in, and that's gonna give us a spot to mount our light bar bracket.
All right.
Now, we're ready to insert our rivnuts into the radiator support.
Basically gives you a threaded insert, so now this hole has threads in it, so you can
screw something into it.
Using the provided hardware and the light bar mounts, we're going to attach the light
brackets to the radiator support.
Now, we're
ready to mount our light bar to our light bar brackets.
We're gonna make sure that the wire is on the passenger side of the Jeep, and be careful
not to get this pinched in here.
While we have the grille out still, I'm gonna take this time to route the light bar wire
up and through behind the radiator support, and it should come out right around your airbox.
So from here, we can run our wiring harness and our switch, and we'll get to that in a
later step.
I'm gonna temporarily install the grille right now, and I'm gonna align the light bar up.
I'm just gonna stick this in here nice and loose and then make a few adjustments so the
light bar fits in the grille.
Now, this looks good right about there, so I'm gonna remove the grille now and fully
tighten up the two bolts on the light bar.
All right.
Now, we're ready to permanently install our grille.
First, I'm gonna get it in place.
And next, we're gonna plug in our turn signals.
Have our bottom clips in place.
Now, we can reinstall the six push pins in the upper grille.
Now, we're ready to wire up our light bar.
They provide a nice wiring harness for us.
First thing we're gonna do is hook up our negative and positive battery cables.
All right.
Next, we can route our wire and tuck it nice and neat.
We're gonna find the end that matches our light bar, and we can plug our light bar in.
And, again, we're gonna route this and zip tie it up so it's neat.
And the last thing we need to do is route this end through the firewall.
Once we get it through the firewall and into the Jeep, we can attach our switch to it.
All right.
In order to get the wire through the firewall and into the Jeep, there's a couple different
ways you can do it.
I'm gonna choose to use this grommet right here along the firewall.
And I'm gonna simply push the wire through there.
And we're gonna go inside the Jeep next and hook our switch up.
All right.
We're inside the Jeep here, and if you reach under the dashboard, you should feel your
wire that you pushed through the firewall.
We got it right here.
There's a million different ways you can hook your switch up.
You can drill a hole.
You can put it in your dashboard.
You can mount it on a switch pod.
For now, we're gonna hook this up to show you how the light works.
The black wire is your ground.
The white wire is your supply, which goes on the bottom of the switch.
And the blue wire is the load.
There you go.
All right, we're ready to close our hood up.
That's gonna wrap up our installation.
