If there's one thing big pharma's good at, it's at turning lemons into lemonade.

And a great example of that is the story that came out recently showing that Richard Sackler

of Sackler the family that owns Purdue Pharmaceuticals, has gotten a new patent for a drug that he

claims is going to help solve the opioid crisis here in the United States.

Now if you're not familiar with the history of Sackler and Purdue Pharma, here it is in

a nutshell.

Purdue Pharma was a relatively small, nobody even noticed them pharmaceutical company,

up until they developed a drug based opium, called OxyContin.

And once that drug took off, the little Purdue Pharma that was basically on the verge of

non-existence at the time, became a multi-billion dollar blockbuster big pharma organization.

All thanks to that one drug, OxyContin.

Their opiate based pain killer.

And what they also knew at the time was this was highly addictive.

They didn't tell doctors.

They didn't tell the FDA, but it sure as hell is in their internal memos.

They knew how addictive these drugs were.

They knew that people who took them could easily get hooked on them.

They knew the threat of overdose.

But now after helping launch the opioid crisis here in the United States, making billions

upon billions of dollars off of it, they now wanna profit off trying to fix it.

Because this new patent for the new drug that they've come out with is actually just a weaker

form of opiate.

It is still an opioid drug, it's just weaker than some of the other drugs.

So you use that to ween off the addicts.

You know, lower the dosage to where they can finally stop.

Drugs like that already exist here in this country, so first and foremost there is no

need to give this greedy jackass the new patent for it.

They already pull in about $900 million a year, and that number is gonna increase as

the government starts buying more of those pills to help try to ease the opioid crisis

here in the United State.

And Sackler wanted in on that money.

That's what this is about.

It's not about him realizing, "Wow, I've created such a problem that's killing at least a 115

American citizens every single day."

Some estimates have it up to 150 or 170 a day.

"But I've gotta do the right thing and patent this new drug."

No.

Sackler saw an opportunity as so many in big pharma have in the past, "Wow, I created a

really bad problem.

I bet I can make a few bucks off it too."

That is exactly what has happened with Purdue Pharmaceuticals here.

They saw an opening, and they took it.

And they're gonna make even more billions of dollars off this alleged opioid cure, than

they even did selling the opioids and creating the crisis in the first place.

Enlightened Digital - Keep Creative Fresh - Duration: 1:35.

Hey guys, I'm Casey and this is enlightened digital

Today, I'd like to give you some tips on what to do when you hit a creative wall

It happens to all of us

But you can get past it fairly painlessly if you take a little time and try one at the following

Get outside and go for a walk

Soak up that vitamin D, baby

Sometimes just letting your mind take a break from the task at hand is all you need to spark a new idea

Never be afraid to ask a friend or fellow designer for their advice.

They may see something you've never considered and jumpstart your creativity

Hey Jordan, can you take a look at this?

Just add some green.

Oh, man, that's a great idea. What didn't I think of that? Thanks, dude

Take a step back and look from a distance, literally

If you look at a design up close for too long

You can begin to focus too tightly on individual pieces

and forget to look at the project is whole

step back for a new perspective

Work on something else for a while. Give yourself a mental break

Honestly, I think some of the best concepts for something I'm designing

came when I was working on something else entirely

Sleep on it

Don't be afraid to let it go and look at it the next morning with fresh eyes

Blow it up. Don't force it. If a concept simply isn't working let it go

It's not as scary as you think to start fresh

and last but certainly not least go to the Internet

This is literally what Pinterest and Google are made for

take advantage of all the geniuses out there doing amazing design

and just type in what you want to know

Hopefully some of these tips help you break down those design walls. See you guys soon

Enlightened Digital - Product Review - Duration: 1:19.

Hi welcome to this week's episode of enlightened digital, I'm Jordan

and I'm Gabby. Today we're serving you a brief product review tech edition.

Did you guys know that you can buy a drone without burning a hole in your pocket?

That's right, we chased the dream of balling on a budget via Amazon for only $16

This Braha Sky Drone x3 Mini Drone even came with a camera.

Let's go over the pros and cons.

Well for starters, this bad boy was nearly impossible to get out of the box.

Breaking a sweat to start flying counts as a con for me.

Definitely a con and as for the camera it did take some

interesting video pictures footage but there is really no rhyme or reason

to when and footage was actually being recorded.

It kind of had a mind of its own so definitely a con there.

So the drone can take flight.

Giving it its first marginal pro

or con depending on who's flying it.

The controls not great, but it works well enough to bother our staff.

So overall we give this drone 2 stars.

While it wasn't the most functional

what do you expect.

HD footage, fighter pilot agility, until next time.

See Ya'll!

Enlightened Digital - Raster vs. Vector - Duration: 1:18.

Hi guys, I'm Casey and this is enlightened digital.

Today, I'd like to explain to you a creatives mean

when they ask you for vector versions of your logo instead of raster.

Yes clients I'm talking to you.

A rasterized image is a cluster of colored squares arranged in a finitely scalable grid.

Have you ever walked up close to a large-scale poster or screen

and notice all the tiny dots that make up the image?

That's raster. These images will only be sharp when displayed at the size they were built or smaller.

Otherwise, they'll start to pixelate.

I'm sure you've heard your creatives use this phrase before.

Raster files or JPEGs or PNGs or a variety of others.

A vector on the other hand is a mathematical Algorithm

of points and lines that create the edges of your logo or graphic.

These files can be infinitely scale without compromising image quality.

File names for these are usually EPS or Adobe Illustrator or AI files.

Creators will need this version of your logo for anything printed or large-scale.

So, it's best to give it to them right off the bat.

All right, now you should know the difference between vector and raster imagery.

My fellow creatives, feel free to share this with a choice client or two.

After all, knowledge is power. See you guys later.

Enlightened Digital - Augmented Reality - Duration: 1:18.

Hey guys, Matt Perry here.

Today, I wanted to talk about augmented reality.

Some of my favorite examples of AR include Niantics, Pokemon Go, and the Google Translate application.

Pokemon Go is just over two years old and with its release in 2016

people started to realize the implications of how augmented reality

can change the way that people interact with the world around them.

Google Translate application is really awesome

and you can utilize a cell phone's camera to capture the language that's being displayed on like

a street sign or document

and give that user a translated overlay of what those words mean in their native language.

Marketers will eventually be able to harness this technology to deliver 100% personalized

advertising to individuals that will seamlessly integrate with the world around them.

Anthropologically speaking this is going to change how humans interact with each other

and their own environments on a daily basis.

Thinking about the future,

don't be surprised to see conductive or translucent

contact lenses or implants that will affect what the user sees and experiences in the world around them.

We're living in exciting times and the rate of technological innovation is exploding.

Although I'm still waiting on my personal affordable jetpack.

Thanks for your time today. Shoot me a line anytime matthew@freniklabs.com.

Enlightened Digital - Voice Commerce - Duration: 1:20.

Hey guys, my name is Matt Perry. Today I wanted to talk about voice commerce

Voice commerce is an emerging trend with consumers

and it's something that I'm very excited to follow

the progress of over the course of the next couple years.

When it comes to e-commerce Amazon's poised to be in a prime position. Hey-oh

to capture the majority of this market when it comes to their

technological emergence in the space with Amazon Alexa.

85% of Amazon customers select the recommended product when there voice shopping.

Businesses should be thinking about optimizing for this emerging trend in marketing

with all of their products moving forward.

I've seen the demonstrations of the Google assists and booking local service appointments

where the person on the other line doesn't even know they're talking to a robot.

The results are incredible and the better this voice recognition technology and AI get

the more powerful the early adopters and optimizes of this trend will become.

This trend will most likely become pervasive for things that are regularly purchased

but not for things that people want to shop around for

and even if this trend doesn't become ubiquitous in society

the potential upside of planning for this now is tremendous

and every marketer should be thinking about it.

Thanks for listening to me ramble on today.

My name is Matt Perry. You can reach me at matthew@freniklabs.com.

Apple Reveals iPhone XS, XS Max & More At Annual Press Event - 247 news - Duration: 3:41.

The time has come! Apple's highly anticipated annual event on Sept. 12 and it brought the announcement of the brand new iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR, along with numerous other exciting products

The new iPhones are here! The popular company excitingly announced the new products along with other impressive products at their annual press event on Sept

12, which took place in the Steve Jobs Theater at the company's Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, CA

Announcing the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR!  The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max is all about the huge display! The phones have glass covering the backs of the phones and are virtually waterproof

That goes for dropping it in orange juice or tea, according to Tim Cook. The difference between the phones is display sizes: 5

8″ for XS and 6.5″ for XS Max — the biggest for an iPhone yet. The phones have a better sound experience that actually plays well through the speakers

XS and XS Max is nine times faster that its predecessors but uses 1/10 of the energy

There will be improved Siri shortcuts, too.    But wait; there's more! Apple Watch series 4 is coming out, too! The updated watch is thinner, with a 30% bigger display

The speakers are 50% louder, and a new microphone eliminates echo on phone calls

Interestingly, it can also tell when the person wearing it falls. The popular feature that measures heart rate has also updated

The wearer can take their own EKG, a heart rate test previously only available at a doctor's office! It'll be available for purchase on September 21

including silicone and leather cases for the XS and XS Max phones. The silicone cases will come in midnight blue, white, black, stone, and Product RED

Leather cases come in saddle brown, taupe, black, and Product RED. There will also be Leather folio cases

Right now, there are no XR cases listed.  The unveiling of the new products has finally put all the speculation to rest and proves the technological updates were worth the wait

The two hour event was live streamed on the Apple website as it always is and has become one of the most watched technological company streams in the world

The popular company says 1.3 billion people have purchased various versions of the iPhone since 2007 so the demand is high

But its constant competition with Google's Android system has continued to be a challenge considering many Android phones are a lot less expensive than Apple's phones

Despite the challenge, Apple's new iPhones have continued to increase in price. Last year's Apple iPhone X was released with the highest price yet at $999

Luckily, the company hasn't faced a lot of consumer backlash and it seems Apple users just continue to expect the prices to raise as the products get bigger and more powerful
