Gelmorra.

An ancient civilization, that lead to the formation and construction of the City-State

Gridania.

Today, not much is known about Gelmorra, despite it playing such a pivotal role in Gridania's

history.

Even her flag features the Gelmorran symbol of Hyuran and Elezen peace.

But evidence seems to indicate that 1.0 was intended to reveal more, if not the full history

of Gelmorra.

Throughout the Black Shroud, dungeons of Gelmorran origin would exist, as well as the famous

Gelmorran Ruin in North Shroud.

Lore-wise these were never expanded upon in 1.0.

We know about the Mun-Tuy Cellars, Tam-Tara, and Toto-Rak and their respective functions

in Gelmorran society, and these all survived the Calamity, but that's where most of the

known Gelmorran history stops.

Palace of the Dead briefly touches on the lore, with the first portion being the Gelmorran

residential district, but that's about it.

In 1.0, more structures were hidden, just waiting for the go signal, that never came.

So far in this series we've encountered 2 Gelmorran dungeons in the Black Shroud.

Peacegarden and Knight's Round.

Peacegarden seemingly being another brewing cellar similar to the Mun-Tuy, and Knight's

Round revealing never-before-seen Gelmorran technology.

Once again we turn our gaze towards the Black Shroud, and to the southernmost part of East

Shroud, southwest of Hawthorne Hut.

Here lies the entrance to, as far as I'm aware, a dungeon that has never before been

documented.

Whoever was standing guard here is a complete mystery to me.

I couldn't find any footage from this area showing the name of the guard.

I don't know if there even was one.

The doors are similar to other doors in the Shroud, with their own little twist.

The doors have small barred windows in them, with cast iron details similar to what you'd

expect from a Gelmorran settlement.

Walking inside, I'm surprised to find that the staircase goes almost entirely straight

down.

Usually, dungeons in the Shroud spiral downwards until you hit the first floor.

At the bottom of the long staircase, we enter the usual round room with the four pillars.

A staple of Gelmorran design.

However, one thing strikes me right off the bat.

This dungeon seems to be older somehow.

It's way more dilapidated and ruined than the other dungeons we've explored so far.

Usually, cave-ins of this magnitude wouldn't really appear until reaching the lower floors.

But here we're instantly presented with destruction.

There's also only one path available to me.

To the left.

Walking down another set of stairs leads to this door lit by a lone torch.

The door is locked, and there's nothing on the other side, but behind me, another

opening beckons.

A long corridor opens up in front of me.

A room to my immediate right contains a desk and stool with clear Gelmorran artwork carved

into them.

Naturally, there's also wine bottles and jars of what I can only presume to be fermented

beans on the shelves and in the cupboards.

As I exit the room I notice these pretty purple glowing things later used in Toto-Rak.

I'm going to assume that these will show the way.

I will as usual opt for the most linear route, avoiding most side-rooms, so we don't end

up just seeing the same stuff over and over again.

This is 1.0 after all.

I enter another round room.

The glowing purple things, dance happily around a few trees growing to the right of the room,

next to one of the two closed doors here.

I feel like I have to go back here later, so I note down my coordinates, and continue

straight ahead through the opening – leading into a large open corridor.

Gelmorra is a fascinating phenomenon in Eorzean history, simply because we know so little

about it.

And here we are, in a dungeon that perhaps was meant to tell us more about life underground.

As I enter another round room, I spot it.

The mechanical device!

Again, with the strange plate with Eorzean letters written on it.

This machine has occupied my mind a lot after we first discovered them in Knight's Round,

and I think I'm starting to at least understand what the plate is supposed to do.

Notice that the letters are oddly spaced, and appears to be two different lines.

The way the R is displayed with it being slightly cut off to the left, and having the long space

between it and the E suggests that it might just be the end of a word that started further

to the lef.

This whole plate might've been supposed to spin when activated, revealing whatever

it was meant to spell, if anything.

We must not forget that this might have just been gibberish, never actually meant to read

out as anything at all, hence the poor texture quality, but once again, we may never know.

Still very cool looking devices, and so far the only known evidence of Gelmorran mechanical

technology.

It's tempting to enter the door the device is keeping locked, but my mission is to follow

the linear path, so I will carry on ahead.

I pass more purple glowflies and these massive trees, similar to the ones found in Toto-Rak

today.

I find myself at a crossroad, with a familiar looking torch.

The glowflies seem to be mostly on the left side of the trees, so I pick that path, and

move forward, until I reach a room filled with what looks like weapon crates.

Now THAT's intriguing.

As far as we know, Gelmorra was never at war with anyone.

As I move forward, the whole dungeon seems to change design.

Gone are the curving corridors, the messy round rooms.

Instead square, sharp rooms in almost perfect lines on all sides greet me.

It's almost like walking into a different dungeon.

So many rooms…

Some seem to contain more weapon racks and crates, other seem to contain cupboards and

desks.

I'm tempted to enter all of them, but I must stay strong.

This is a dangerous place.

If I lose track of where I am, I'll have to start over again, or I'll end up walking

in circles.

Another Gelmorran device next to a locked door, weapon boxes, weapon racks…

What on earth went on in here…

After walking what I thought was the linear path, I realize that I'm actually zig zagging

between the rooms I saw earlier.

Eventually I end up in front of a door with a Gelmorran device, eagerly awaiting input

from an adventurer that will never come.

This is the end of the line, so I phase through the door.

The room that greets me is a surprisingly tidy room.

Hardly any damage, which so far is surprisingly rare considering the state of the rest of

the dungeon.

In the middle – what I can only assume are war supplies.

Again…

War supplies, in Gelmorra?

Why on earth would they stock up on these…

They made peace, and lived together in that peace for centuries…

Wait.

The sigils.

The Gelmorran Sigils!

I've walked around for hours and I've yet to see a single Gelmorran symbol or sigil!

In every single dungeon in the Black Shroud, these sigils could be found everywhere.

But not here…

Could this…

Could this be THE first pre-Gelmorran settlement.

The one that STARTED the Hyuran-Elezen war of 710?

It's starting to make sense…

The damage.

The apparent age of the place.

The war supplies.

The lack of sigils.

The feeling of passing between two different areas.

My mind immediately jumps to the two doors I left behind at the very start of our expedition.

I run back.

If this is what I think it is, this is an incredible discovery.

One of the most important Gelmorran findings in 1.0 and subsequently ARR history.

Back in the first room.

I enter the first door I ever looked at when I came in to this dungeon.

It's like all my namedays have come at once.

A gigantic room filled with training dummies greets me.

Near the walls are targets for archers to practice their aim.

Replacement targets stored on the side.

And once again.

No Gelmorran sigils.

I run back to the first room and burst through the other door.

And I'm not disappointed.

Sandbags, war supplies, weapon racks, and even more targets.

The Gelmorrans weren't preparing for war, cause the Gelmorrans didn't exist yet!

The lack of sigils is obvious now.

This is ground zero for the Huyran-Elezen war of 710.

This is where Gelmorra was born!

The large room connects to a hallway with a door locked by another Gelmorran device.

Passing through, I find room after room filled with war materials, as well as training equipment

such as targets and dummies.

For anyone remotely interested in Gelmorran history this is a lot to take in, but I'm

now more or less convinced.

It's unknown whether the original settlement was abandoned or integrated into Gelmorra

proper, but it would make sense that it would function as a temporary settlement at the

very least until the work on Gelmorra has made enough headway for the Gelmorrans to

actually settle there.

So these dusty, abandoned caves might have been meant to tell the story of the creation

of Gelmorra.

A 30 year war, that ended with one of the greatest achievements of the Sixth Astral

Era.

A lasting peace between Elezen and Hyur, a massive underground city-state, peace between

Eorzeans and the Elementals, and the construction of Gridania.

Let's hope it's a story we get to learn more about in the future.

Trump's EPA Now Ok With Killing An Additional 11,000 People Per Year - Duration: 3:46.

A couple weeks ago I told you about a story where the EPA under Donald Trump had repealed

a rule from the Obama era, one of the clean power rules that they had put in place, clean

air rules, that could lead to an additional 1,400 additional US deaths per year according

to the EPA's own estimates.

It was really bad.

1,400 American citizens dead every year just because they want to repeal this rule.

Well, guess what folks, as is always the case, things just got so much worse.

According to new reports, the EPA is considering repealing the Obama era mercury and toxic

standards, the MATS rule, which actually limited the amount of mercury, acid, gases, and other

toxics pollutants that could come out of power companies.

It reduced those things, mercury, acids, pollutants by 90%.

This rule did that was enacted by the Obama Administration in 2012.

90% reduction in those.

It is estimated to have saved 11,000 lives per year.

Prevented 11,000 premature deaths by enacting this rule.

Now, the Trump EPA wants to do away with it while admitting that yeah this means probably

11,000 people in the United States are going to die every year prematurely because we don't

want power plants to have to limit the amount of toxins they spew into our atmosphere.

On top of that, we could also look forward to an additional 100,000 asthma attacks and

heart attacks every single year if this rule is repealed.

100,000 people with additional asthma attacks or heart attacks in addition to 11,000 people

being sent to an early grave just because we don't want utility companies to have to

limit their emissions.

That is what the Donald Trump EPA currently under Andrew Wheeler is working on right now.

Now, they have a 60 to 90 day comment period on repealing this rule.

I suggest anyone who's watching this that happens to be an organism that has to breath

oxygen to survive, maybe you should submit a comment to the EPA to let them know that

you support the mercury and air toxics standards rule and that you want it in place because

you're not willing to take the risk of being one of those 11,000 additional people that

are going to die or one of those 100,000 people that could have an asthma attack or a heart

attack with these increased pollutants going into our air.

Maybe, you should submit a comment if you care.

Maybe, you're a gambler.

Maybe, you think it's not going to happen to you or anyone that you care about.

But let me tell you, when we're dealing with overall 111,000 people who are going to directly

suffer from the repeal of this rule every single year just so corporations can make

a few extra dollars by not having to clean up their messes.

Eventually, it is going to affect someone that you care about, maybe even yourself.

I strongly suggest that everybody watching this, everybody who can hear this, submit

a comment to the EPA and let them know that you will not tolerate them rescinding all

of these Obama era rules to send people to an early grave just to give corporations a

few extra dollars a year.

- It's a tortilla with sugar on it.

- [Tim] This is a sugary cardboard

with dollops of chocolate on it.

- Let's go for this guy.

- Just beating that cookie Tim.

This is like one of the joints

that comes with the plastic. - Yeah.

- [Justina] This must be the cheap one.

- It doesn't even have the peel back top

the one you can peel and seal it back up.

Once you open it you have to eat the whole thing.

- This is actually really good though.

- Nah, I'm not feeling it.

I like the wafer cookie better than this.

- [Tim] I'm not feeling the texture.

- [Justina] It's got a nutty texture.

- I do not like this one at all.

Everybody listen.

- Oh my God. - That's solid.

- [Tim] It's a whole biscuit.

- [Darren] It's soft in the middle.

- This- - Oh my God.

- Oh my goodness.

- That's gooey, look at that.

- Mm.

- Mm.

- That's good.

- [Tim] Wow that's amazing.

- [Darren] This is the best cookie.

So this is the most expensive. Can we say that?

- That's the most expensive.

- Yeah. - For sure.

- I mean look at it, it's literally grams of cookie.

Well have we tasted enough?

- Yeah. - Yeah.

- I need to get one more bite.

Just to make sure it's the best one. Cause I'm not sure.

(mumbles)

- Oh I'm sorry.

Should we stop?

We gotta order?

- Alright so I'm going with cheapest

is the oatmeal-ish cookie.

I'm going with the thin gluten wafer.

- The wafer. - You right.

And I'm going with the thick, luxurious

milk chocolate, moon pie of a cookie

as the most expensive.

Final answer. - Okay.

- Do we all agree? - I agree.

- Hands in, Basic to the Bougie on three everybody.

- [Group] Basic to Bougie.

- Tim.

- You ready?

- Let's do it.

I don't want to Steve Harvey this.

I'm very nervous. (group laughing)

Alright the grocery store cookie is $1.

We did it. - That's right.

- [Both] The vegan bakery cinnamon espresso cookie.

- Tim. - That's $3.

- That leaves the final big boy.

- What we learned today is that

This is the most expensive because it's got an extra wrap.

So we've got the smaybe smells,

that you buy at the grocery store.

A little snack food.

super stinky Gruyere or Brie.

One of those.

(Darren burping) - Oh.

- The only fancy cheese names I know.

- It's coming up on me. - Yeah it is.

- I'm burping this joint up.

- Woo.

Smell your fingers, that's crazy right?

- Alright we're ready.

Don. (clapping)

Dun, dun, dun.

My boy. Hey we're going to get a Cuban after this.

- A Dominican, God.

- They smoke.

- Are you gonna do it?

- You can do it. - Tim did it.

- Let's let Tim do it.

- Alright. - First cheese.

Let's go Tim it's on you.

- We've got the lunchbox cheese cheapest.

Second one, double cream cheese from France

with the truffles $22 per pound.

Ah and the last one,

blue cheese wrapped in...

grape leaves.

$55 per pound.

I was wrong. - (yelling) Tim.

- We said that. - We did.

- Come on this looks expensive Tim.

This (bleep) looks like seaweed.

Like a mermaid packaged it.

You can't win them all Tim.

- You can't.

- I work as a tour guide in Washington D.C. and I use

Jeopardy questions to add to the tours that I give.

- I work at Disneyland and we set up our fireworks show

and on our break we come back to our break room

and all of our technicians sit down and watch Jeopardy

almost every night, playing along with Jeopardy

with friends is really where

the fireworks happens and that's our J Effect.

Just survive. I'm serious. I'm not even gonna sugarcoat it high school will suck for a lot of you

You may meet a few great people and make a few endearing memories

But you can't really credit high school for it high school is what you make it to be

Just do your best in your classes and accept that those four years are merely a time for you to discover yourself

And what kind of adult you want to be? What a lot of you consider?

Achievements don't really carry over into adulthood. Trust me. No one really cares that you score that that one touchdown

Back in the 10th grade make friends with who you feel comfortable with and not with people who are your friends?

Those are just convenient acquaintances that you just happen to see on a daily basis

I was in university I gave up a lot of my hobbies besides

Earning some money and maybe travel or even if you're going straight into the working field. That's fine, too

A lot of you adults probably have jobs that you've been in for years

But still something deep inside your mind is telling you this, isn't it?

The search isn't over you may be comfortable with something one day, but then totally change the next as humans

We never stopped growing. We are always adapting and changing. I wish you guys some good discoveries in the upcoming semesters
