Pot, kettle: Russia warns Google against election 'meddling'

Pot, kettle: Russia warns Google against election 'meddling'.

Russia on Tuesday said it has officially warned US internet giant Google against "meddling" in next Sunday's local elections by hosting opposition leader Alexei Navalny's videos calling for mass protests.

Representatives of Russia's electoral commission, the prosecutor-general's office and the state internet watchdog alleged Navalny uses Google's services to disseminate illegal information and warned that the company may be prosecuted if it does not act to stop this.

A Google spokeswoman declined to give a specific comment, stating that the company "reviews all valid requests from government institutions".

Central Election Commission member Alexander Klyukin said the commission had sent an official letter to Larry Page, the CEO of Google's parent company Alphabet, regarding Navalny's use of YouTube.

Meddling by a foreign company in our election is not permitted Central Election Commission member Alexander Klyukin Navalny, a fierce Kremlin critic, has urged Russians to protest on September 9, when several Russian regions and Moscow elect regional and local officials.

Navalny is currently serving a 30-day sentence for violating public order laws during a protest earlier this year.

"Navalny buys the company's advertising tools to publish information on YouTube about the mass political event on September 9, on the day of elections," Klyukin said. "We informed Google that such events on election day will lead to massive violation of the law" because political agitation is banned on election day, he said.

"Meddling by a foreign company in our election is not permitted." He called Google a "gigantic American company" and hinted that Washington uses it as an influence tool.

US officials have repeatedly warned about the dangers of Russian interference in upcoming American elections and there is a full-scale probe under way into Moscow's alleged role in the 2016 presidential election which brought Donald Trump to office.

Navalny's close ally Leonid Volkov reacted to the officials' statements by saying that the Sunday rally is perfectly legal and doesn't violate election laws since its aim is not to campaign for a particular candidate.

The demonstration is to protest upcoming pension reforms, which will hike the retirement age by five years for women and three for men - a deeply unpopular measure that has caused a rare sag in Vladimir Putin's ratings.

YouTube is "the only channel to inform the masses" since Russian companies have rejected similar commercial requests to publish information about upcoming demonstrations, Volkov said.

"All levels of the Russian government.

have been ordered to block the protest by any means necessary," he wrote on Facebook.

The deputy chief of Russia's internet watchdog Roskomnadzor, Vadim Subbotin, accused "foreign internet platforms" of disrespecting Russian laws and serving as a "mouthpiece for disseminating illegal information".

He said Google-owned YouTube "acts as a link in the chain for propaganda of anti-social behaviour during Russian elections".

He said "over 40" YouTube channels "constantly call for violating Russian law".

"Certain parties interested in destabilising the situation in Russia attempt to attract internet users to illegal actions by providing unlimited opportunities on foreign internet giants like Google," he said.

If Google fails to respond to official complaints, this will be seen as "de-facto direct intervention in Russia's domestic affairs", he said.

Russia has long pushed for greater control of information published by Russian users on international platforms to curb political dissent and prevent terrorism.

California Wants To Charge Residents For Wildfire Costs - Duration: 3:21.

Some bad news for residents of the State of California last week, as on Friday, the State

Assembly actually voted and passed legislation, currently awaiting the signature of Governor

Jerry Brown.

But this legislation would actually make California utility customers responsible for the costs

of wildfires in their state.

Utility customers, people who pay their power bill every month, could begin seeing additional

charges on those bills in order to pay for the costs of wildfires in the State of California.

Now, we already know that California had the biggest wildfire in the state's history.

That just happened.

They're still going through a drought that's basically going on for more than six years,

at this point.

Climate change in absolutely ravaging the state, making these wildfires more prevalent

and more likely to occur.

The U.S. Department of Interior has had their budget slashed, so they can't spend the money

to go out there and clear out all of the underbrush and dead trees that need to be cleared out

because that's what helps wildfires spread.

So the State of California, as liberal as it is, said, "You know what?

Instead of making the utility companies pay for it, if they're the ones whose equipment

causes a fire, which is what the current law says, let's instead protect the energy companies,

protect their shareholders, and pass those costs on to the consumers."

That is precisely what this piece of legislation is going to do.

So I know Republicans love to attack California as this bastion of liberalism, the most progressive

state out there, a bunch of hippie, communist, socialist whatever, but in reality, they're

politicians just like everybody else.

And if they get the opportunity to screw consumers to protect corporations, by god, they're going

to do it.

And that is exactly what the State Assembly voted to do in California last Friday, and

it is almost a guarantee that Jerry Brown is going to sign this thing into law.

So if you live in the State of California and you're with an energy company like PG&E

and their equipment blows up, starts shooting off sparks, and that causes a wildfire, well

PG&E no longer has to pay for that.

Instead, you're going to see the cost for cleaning up that wildfire, putting it out,

and clearing out all of that undergrowth.

That's going to be added to your monthly utility bill.

Meanwhile, the Department of Interior, who's actually in charge of that, won't have to

deal with it.

The State of California, who also bears some of the costs for that, they're not going to

have to deal with it, just the consumers.

Just the average, every day, working-class people who just wanted to pay their utility

bills and live a normal life and depend on these government services to protect them

from wildfires.

But the government of California sent a very clear message on Friday.

Not only are you on your own but you also have to pay when we have to come out and protect

you, even though your tax dollars already pay for that for the state, your tax dollars

pay for it for the federal government.

Now, we're going to make you pay a third time for it, because god forbid we make the utility

companies clean up their own messes.

Yeelight Color Bulb - Unbox and Setup - Duration: 9:59.

Hello everyone. Thanks for tuning in

again. I have here a brand new product

for the channel, and a number of you have

been asking me about the Yeelight products. Now

Yeelight, and this is a color bulb

that I managed to get from a website

called Gearbest.com. Now of course

there are links down below to Gear Best. Go

ahead, check them out, but they sent me

one of these lights for free. So what

we're going to do with this light

today is we're going to get it

unboxed. I'll show you what's inside, and

then show you how to get it set up

in your home, and show you the color

quality that we're going to get out of

these light bulbs. So let's get going.

Alright so let's get the Yeelight open

here. Like I said this is a color bulb 2

and when I set it up and look at the

device itself, it's actually called a

color bulb 2. Now some of the great

features here. There is no hub required,

it's only a Wi-Fi bulb, so that's

different from the Sengled bulbs and the

Philips Hue bulbs. The device itself is

actually quite heavy, you can see a

little bit of styling here on the bottom

of the connector piece. You do get a

manual, but it is in one form of Chinese

that I sure can't read, so that's why

you're watching this video: to understand

how to set it up and get it working. So

you could see it in the background there,

but we're going to go ahead and get this

set up. Now don't be fooled, don't get the

blue Yeelight application. That's for

Bluetooth enabled bulbs. Just get the Yeelight

application, and it is a similar

login and setup process for an account

with these guys. You do have to select a

server for your account to go on. I

selected the United States one, and then

you create an account. It's called a Mi

account and that's because you're

signing up with the Xiaomi company now.

In the application there are scenes,

there are rooms, and there are devices,

and there's also a menu up top left. You

can of course add a device, a scene, or a room.

Now let's add a device. Like I said,

I have to choose LED bulb color 2 and

I just chose that based on the look of

my device versus the pictures I was

being shown. Now they want you to select

your Wi-Fi network, put in your password,

and then you hit next step, and it

actually asks you to go to the settings

in your iPhone or Android device. Now I

struggled a little bit in getting my

iPhone to make the connection, so I

actually switched over to Android, and

this is how quick the process was. It

updated the connection and it connected

my Yeelight bulb directly to my Wi-Fi

network instantaneously, on the first try.

But I could not get that working on an

iPhone. It might have just been something

going on on my phone today. After that,

you can see in the devices section, you

do have your Yeelight bulb all set up.

That's its name right now, and you can

switch between different modes here.

There's a white color chooser and then

there is also a color chooser if you

want to get into the colors that come

with this bulb. The other mode that I

really enjoyed I'll get to in a minute,

but you can see how quickly the device

is responding to my commands. This is in

real time, I'm just hitting these

different kind of scene buttons is what

I'll call them, and you can see the color

changing on the wall very quickly.

Now the next thing is that color chooser

where you're just choosing the white

colors, the brighter whiter light, or the

more yellow color that I think lots of

people are traditionally used to. You can

go in that whole range, you can change

the brightness, and then of course you

can switch between all the different

colors that this bulb can produce, which

is essentially unlimited, and I will say

the colors are very, very vibrant. Some of

the best I've seen actually, and this was

probably my favorite feature on the bulb,

was this flow mode. You could pick the

four different colors that it flowed

between, and it will sit there and

transition between. You can also choose

the pace at which it moves through this

flow mode, so this was one of the most

enjoyable things about the bulb. Now

moving through the application, you can

actually change the name of the bulb.

Inside the devices, you just simply have

to click top right, and change that

device. When you're in it, you can also

create rooms, so as you hit create room,

you can go in and you choose an icon

that will basically represent your room

going forward, and then you do have to

create a name. What I'll tell you is that

room does not transfer across to other

systems like the Google Home or Amazon

Echo series of devices. You can also

create scenes of course. So now you're

going to choose another icon again, once

you do that, you have to name the scene,

and then you're going to choose what

your different devices are doing. Now I

only have the one device, I can turn it

off, I can turn it on,

I can choose a state, or I can choose a

scene. When I say choose a scene, if I had

any favorites setup or customizations, I

could get those but these are those base

scenes that you saw me rolling through

in the application. So choosing reading

here, this is basically a work time. Now

back to the iPhone app, and I want to say

that again I struggled in the iPhone app

a little bit. I don't think this is going

to be the case for everyone, but I could

not get schedules, timer,

or any of these things in the menu to work. So

let me show you again in the Android app

here in the scene section, I can click

the name work time, which is what I set

up, and then you saw me actually click a

home screen shortcut, and that created an

icon. You can also click the icon itself

to actually trigger that scene in app.

Now in the room section, you can see me

clicking on the power button there, that

should turn off a whole room.

It actually was changing the whole room,

but it wasn't showing in the app. You can

see when I go into the room itself, I can

adjust the different lights on and off

and I can also change a whole room to

say a flow if I wanted to. So again if

you had multiple bulbs in one room in

this application, you could get them all

doing the same thing, or you could

actually choose different things per

device. Now again in the devices section,

you can actually choose favorites, so

that's the middle star button inside the

device itself, and here's that same menu

that I was struggling with. So I just

clicked on the different favorites that

I just set up, and there is the one that

I had just created. Again in that same

menu, here's the color picker and

what the color picker is, is essentially

a request to actually use your camera to

choose the color on screen that you want

to use for your bulb, and that's quite

the feature. So here's what comes up, I'm

just showing my camera on a table

actually, so it's just showing black but

you could pick the color off of that.

Here's the timer function you can

actually set once your bulb is on, you

can turn on a timer to have it

automatically turn off, and that's

actually not in a lot of other light

applications. The scheduling capability

is actually really nice as well,

so you can choose the name of the

schedule that you're creating, it can be

applied to certain bulbs, certain times,

certain days, and then you can set it for

different scenes or states that you

want all of your different Yeelight bulbs

to go into. So it's actually very, very

powerful in terms of an application. Now

again, I couldn't get into this in the

iPhone application, so what I'll say to

you as owners with an iPhone, you're

going to want to test the application

out before you go and purchase one of

these, but otherwise in general what I'll

say is the app worked very, very well. I

just struggled a little bit with an

iPhone 6s plus, so there's not much more

I can say about that.

Overall the application itself was

impressive, and one last feature to give

you here. Down in that menu again, this is

basically to synchronize the bulb with

audio around it, so you're allowing the

application that you have on your tablet

or phone to actually listen for audio,

and then it will adjust your bulb as it

goes. So that's a great feature of course,

and I think something everyone asks for.

So again this is the Yeelight Color Bulb 2,

this is a full setup process showing you

how it works, again I got this bulb from

Gear Best. Go ahead, check out their

website down below if you're looking for

one of these bulbs. I'll have the link

directly to that in that description as

well. So thanks for watching everyone.

We'll see you next time.

JD.com (JD) Stock: 90-second ⏲️ Investment Analysis - Duration: 2:56.

We're going to analyze JD.Com as an investment, and we're gonna do it all in 90 seconds…

You wanna keep up with stocks but you don't have the time to read a lengthy report on

every company that interests you.

You're busy, I get it.

I respect that.

So, I took the most important considerations from my research and packed it into 90 seconds.

Use this to decide if it's worth your time to research further, to keep up with stocks

you already own, or to just check in on some of the largest companies in the world.

To vote on which companies we cover next, go join our private FB Group - the link is

in the description!

Fair warning: I'm obviously gonna go fast.

Let's put up a clock, and let's do this!

JD.com, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates as an e-commerce company and retail infrastructure

service provider in China.

As of this recording, JD has market cap of $45.4B and a price per share of $31.

To own or not to own, that is the question…

Here are several reasons you might want to own JD.com:

Although Alibaba owns 60% of the Gross Merchandise Volume in China, in Q1 2018, JD came in 2nd

place with a GMV of 26%, a 25% YoY growth.

The current driver for all of JD's growth is China's booming upper middle class, which

is projected to grow by 22% in 2022, driving China's future economy.

JD has also entered some promising partnerships: Walmart has invested about $5B into JD (a

~12% stake); Google, more than $500M (or a ~1% stake); and Tencent about $11B (or a ~20%

stake).

All of these partnerships have great synergy with JD.

With Walmart, consumers can buy Walmart products directly from JD.com, and with Google, JD.com

products get exposure with Google Shopping while Google gains exposure to the Chinese

market.

However, Tencent is JD's most important partnership.

They own WeChat which boasts 1B total users.

WeChat is the biggest social messaging app in world which has a Peer-to-Peer payment

system, like Venmo, integrated within the platform.

WeChat's search engine automatically links its 1B users and key product words to JD.com.

But here are some reasons to NOT own JD.com: Alibaba.

JD competes directly with Alibaba, the market leader in the ecommerce segment.

To differentiate and attract more consumers, JD has to invest more in their fulfillment

and distribution centers, ultimately burning through more cash to be able to turn a profit

in the future.

And according to fundamental metrics, JD seems to already have its future growth factored

in, trading at a sky-high P/E Ratio of more than 250.

So, if there's a major crash or correction, investors should not be surprised if JD to

falls by more than the market.

So what do you say: buy or no?

With promising partnerships backing JD.com, does that justify JD's elevated P/E ratio

and can they eventually outpace Alibaba in China's ecommerce segment?

I look forward to continuing this discussion in the comments below.

More Than Coffee: The Caffeinators of Salt Lake City - Duration: 4:16.

On Main Street in the mornings when I

get there at like 6:00 in the morning

it's really nice and quiet and the only thing you can really hear is when the tracks are coming by ...

There's not a lot of people. It's nice and cool in the shop

and the lights are still half off — it's really nice.

What I like about being in a

coffee shop is the interaction with

people you realize you are getting to

know people. Eventually that person is starting to feel comfortable in this

shop it's almost like feeling comfortable in a home.

Howard Schultz coined the term "the third place." It's

this place that's a stable part of people's lives that's like in between

home and work. It's familiar it's

comfortable it's friendly and I think

the coffee shop really embodies that.

There's a strong cultural value

inside the coffee industry of just openness in it and so I think

Salt Lake really exemplifies that. I think the people of Salt Lake really do

like to be warm and welcoming and open

to a lot of different people.

Experiencing something new is kind of the most magical thing that can happen

to coffee. But with coffee you might have kind of your style dialed to a certain

extent and you think okay I know how to

pull a good shot of espresso and then

you go somewhere else and you see them making all the things you would never do

and you taste it and it's incredible and

it turns out there's just a lot of good ways to make coffee.

To me it's really a question of

What does it taste like? That is all that's

important and so often we try to think of the rules to coffee — to what makes it

good — but I think frankly we don't know the rules yet.

There's no one thing that makes an amazing cup of coffee.

It's the whole life of that seed down to the

preparation that makes it good and it

requires somebody who really cares on

the production end too.

I consider the roasting my art but all

these other people have to touch it to

make a completed product. So I rely on

the farmer to make a really good product.

I then rely on the importer to treat it properly when they bring it here and

then I have to do my piece with it but

then I also have to hand it off to a

barista and trust that they have the

knowledge and expertise to finish the art.

It's a collaboration in an artistic

sense that's really cool.

One of my favorite things is to look out

into the cafe and see all these

different people you'd never see in the

same room together. I have seen

businesses blossom I've seen romances

blossom, I've seen businesses crash.

I've seen romances crash. I'm sure babies have

resulted from conversations that have

happened here.

This is about people who live here

trying to just create the things they love.

I mean we set out to embrace what

we love about Salt Lake and and bring

new things here rather than, you know, try

and copy what's going on anywhere else.

People come in every day and are

surprised that we even have coffee.

And not only do we have coffee, we have

really good coffee.

You have a place [in Salt Lake] that is like a blank canvas

There's no preconceived notions about

what it's supposed to be or how you're

supposed to do it and to me that's much

more powerful for creating something new.

When we start to talk about things like

coffee scenes and coffee culture, I like

to think of it as coffee community.

It's just a great thing where you can express

yourself and not be wrong ... probably no

matter what you do.

WR84X10055 - Replacing Your Refrigerator's Condenser Fan Motor AP3797248 PS967775 - Duration: 7:13.

Hi my name is Bill and today I'm going to be showing you how to replace the condenser

fan motor on your refrigerator the reason why you would have to do this is because either

your fridge or your freezer sections are too warm for this repair we'll need a pair of

wire cutters a phillips head screwdriver and either a short phillips head screwdriver or

a ratchet with a 1/4 inch socket with a removable Torx bit

WARNING before doing any repairs please disconnect your power source

so thisis our refrigerator model that we'll be using

now keep in mind that our fridge might be a little bit different that what you have

at home but the same technique should still apply so after we've unplugged our refrigerator

we're going to pull it out and turn it around cause that's where we have to go our condenser

fan motor is going to be towards the bottom here we have to take off this panel here held

in by a bunch of screws so we'll start with the screw in the corner here I'll take all

of these out and now that we have all of the screws off you can pull the panel out of place

keep in mind the panel edges are sharp so you're just going to want to be careful about

that the next thing I'm going to do is take this piece off just to get it out of the way

make it a little bit easier to get in here now we're just going to unplug it and then

what we're going to do is pop this right off if you need to you can get your screwdriver

for a little bit of leverage but just hold this fan motor in place so you don't damage

it you can just pull that out and take this plastic piece off so we get this out and what

we're going to need to do is push in on the locking tabs here there we go these are locking

tabs here so that's what we're working to start off so now we can set this off to the

side next thing we have to do is take these two screws out holding the motor in place

so to get these out what I've done is put together a ratchet with a bit on it now you

can also do this if you have a shorter screwdriver but I don't have one of those and now we're

taking out the screw in the back I'm going to need my wire cutters so I can just snip

the zip ties here now we can pull that down and unclip this and with the

cordless cover off of here and we'll untangle this now we can pull our fan motor off and

now right there now grab you're new OEM replacement fan motor if you don't have one already you

can get one from our online store so now we're just going to feed this through here just

like this and once you get it through you can pull it the rest of the way out place

the fan motor down right into these holes and clip it close so now we'll just put this

cover back on here don't necessarily need it but it's just something on there that they

had to protect from water from leaking in and just slide that up and you can zip tie

it back if you want too and now we're going to screw this back in and now we're going

to put this piece back in keep the clips lined up and all of that in place and now we can

just push it back down just like that and then we can get our screw and put that back

in set it right in here and so now we can push the fan blade back on spin it just to

check it now we're going to plug this back in

and line up the screw hole and screw that back in

now we'll just grab our panel again and we'll put that back on lining up the two tabs right

here and just slide that on make sure you line up your holes for the first couple and

we'll get everything started put one in the top to hold it turn your fridge around and

then after you plug it in your repair is complete
