OxiClean Product Review - America's #1 Versatile Stain Fighter - Duration: 12:20.
How do you keep your uniforms looking so vibrant?
That's a great question and we're going to talk about that today.
Hi there, I'm Angela Brown and this is Ask a House Cleaner.
This is a show where you get to ask a house cleaning question
and I get to help you find an answer.
Now the answer to that question is OxiClean.
This is not a paid sponsorship, this is not a paid ad, this is the product that I use
to keep my uniforms nice and shiny and looking new all of the time.
As a house cleaner, our image is paramount to the success of our job.
If we show up at a customer's house every day and we look spectacular, that's the image
that they're going to portray to their neighbors when they recommend our business.
If you come home every day and you're full of cobwebs and dust and dog hair and cat hair
and body odor and under the arm stains, that is what you have to deal with before you recycle
your uniform and go back to the next customer's house.
You can do that with OxiClean.
Now I'm going to do an SDS break down of OxiClean, share with you why it's such a great oxygen
booster and other reasons and ways that you can use it for your cleaning business.
Now for those of you that are listening to the podcast, what you can't see is that we've
purchased six white brand-new cotton towels and we've laid them on a large counter with
some household juices, and these are juices and different things that could possibly stain.
What we've done is we've taken a magic marker, we've marked on masking tape with a number
underneath it under each towel.
Then we've pinned with a safety pin a corresponding number on each towel so that we can follow
the particular towel all the way through the soaking and the wash cycle.
The household items that we have that we've chosen are a spinach smoothie, cranberry juice,
pomegranate juice, blueberry juice, pumpkin cappuccino, and Lipton tea.
These are a bunch of different things that will stain clothing and uniforms and we're
going to mix the OxiClean up in these glass vases and then we're going to mix some up
in a spray bottle as well, then we're going to soak them in this blue mop bucket.
In order to do that, we're just going to run some regular tap water in this blue bucket
and it's advisable that you mix the OxiClean with hot or warm water.
Now for the sake of this particular exercise, we're going to mix the OxiClean with some
hot water from the Keurig machine.
Now for those of you that are watching the video, you're watching me pour these different
juices on a granite countertop and I'm freaking out because I'm afraid I'm going to stain
the granite countertop, but I'm pouring them on these white towels so we can create some
stained items so that we can see how well they wash out.
While we're doing that, I'm going to tell you a little bit about the company.
The company that manufactures OxiClean is Church and Dwight and that is the same company
that owns and manufactures Arm and Hammer baking soda, so they've got the technology
and the science behind them.
What they want you to know about the hazards are is that there is oral or acute toxicity,
which means it's harmful if swallowed, and that's common sense because we're talking
about a laundry soap here and we don't eat or drink laundry soap.
The other thing is that if you get it in your eyes, that's bad and it's harmful to aquatic
life so we do not want to use the laundry soap to wash out our fish tanks or release
this in to the environment.
Alright, what it's made of, it's made of Disodium Carbonate, which is also known as soda or
soda crystals.
It's made of Sodium Percarbonate, which is a highly concentrated powder that releases
hydrogen peroxide and is best when mixed with hot water.
Then also its Alcohol Ethoxylate, which is a major class of non-ionic surfactants, which
are widely used in laundry detergents, and then to a lesser degree, household cleaners.
The first aid measures, if you inhale it, you want to go to open air
and ventilate the area.
If you get it on your skin, you want to remove
your contaminated clothing to prevent future irritation.
If you get it in your eyes, you want to rinse cautiously with water.
If you should ingest it, you want to rinse your mouth and don't induce vomiting.
Okay, fire safety.
OxiClean is not considered flammable but it might burn at high temperatures.
OxiClean is not explosive.
Okay, if you spill it, what do you do?
You clean it up with a vacuum or a broom.
Then handling and storage, it says, "Keep the container closed when not in use."
Obviously, we don't want humidity to get in there and then you want to store it in a cool,
dry place and away from direct sunlight.
Exposure controls.
It says there are no established exposure limits from the manufacturer, supplier, importer,
or advisory agencies, but for workplace settings, they do recommend an adequate ventilation
in confined areas.
The physical and chemical properties, it's a solid, white powder with blue specks and
it's odorless with no smell or scent.
For stability and reactivity, hazardous reactions will not occur under normal circumstances.
If you follow the instructions and you use it exactly as directed, nothing bad is supposed
to happen.
Toxicological information, it is harmful if swallowed and the chronic long-term symptoms
are none or expected under normal conditions or use.
Alright, and the ecological information, it is toxic to aquatic life so we don't want
to feed this to fish.
Then the disposal considerations, it says, "Dispose of the contents and the container
in accordance with your local, regional, and national regulations for your trash pickup.
You want to keep this out of the sewers and waterways.
Alright, the transport information.
This is not regulated by land, air, or sea, so it is in fact safe to ship.
Then the regulatory information, it's listed properly and it meets all US federal and international
regulations.
Now for those of you that are not watching the video, we are creating a spray of OxiClean.
We've used one scoop full of OxiClean, mixed it with Keurig hot water, and now we're labeling
the jar.
Should you mix your own OxiClean, you always want to label the jar so that you know what's
in it and you want to use it immediately because the results will be most powerful when used
immediately after mixing.
Alright, now we're looking at my garage floor.
I found some grease stains on my garage floor and they could be oil stains, who knows what
they are, but we're spraying the OxiClean on there
and we're going to leave it for one hour.
After one hour, we came back to mop the floor and we found amazing results.
Now it's not designed for garage floors, but there are 101 different uses for removing
stains.
You can see that it did a pretty great job removing those stains.
Alright, now we're back in the kitchen and we're picking up all of the different stained
towels that we created earlier with all of the juices.
We're going to soak them in water for 24 hours and you'll notice its very icky water, but
after 24 hours we matched up the towels with the juices so that we could see just by soaking,
we haven't washed anything in the washing machine yet, just to see how clean the towels
came.
From first glance, it looks like it removed all of the stains one by one.
Now we're already down to the blueberry juice and so far, every towel we've looked at is
almost completely white.
It's a little bit white or yellow because it has not gone through the wash yet, but
it has removed all of the visible colored stains, even the pumpkin cappuccino and the
iced tea.
Now we've put these through a load of laundry and we're going to check to see, they all
look pretty clean.
We've left the tags on the corner of each of the towels so we'll be able to match them
up once again once they come out of the washing machine.
If you look now that they've been out of the dryer, there's not a trace of any spinach
smoothie, there's not a trace of cranberry juice,
there's not a trace of pomegranate juice.
These towels look brand spanking new even though we've stained them
and now we've washed them.
Even the blueberry stains came out.
This is so amazing.
Can you imagine what this might do for a uniform or any other household product, baby clothes,
household clothes, grass stains.
We got out the pumpkin cappuccino, the iced tea came out.
It's amazing.
Alright, now we're going to try it with the uniforms
because this is what this is all about.
Now I've laid the uniforms ... These are actual uniforms that I use and I'm marking down the
different spots, so I'm just doing a quick check.
I'm looking for under arm stains, ring around the collar, I'm looking for things that have
splashed on the front of my uniform shirts, and I'm putting a safety pin in them so that
as they go through the washing machine, we can see what it looks like when they come out.
Alright, there are no stains on that shirt.
Moving on to the next one.
Oh look, there's an under the arm stain there.
We'll put a pin in that and then we'll soak it for up to 24 hours when we do laundry again.
Now what's important to realize is this is America's number one versatile stain fighter
with over 101 ways to use it, and OxiClean works in all types of washing machines, both
front load and top load, and it can be used just as a regular laundry soap.
It is in fact chlorine free.
Oh look, there's a big stain right there on the front.
We're going to put a pin in that.
Again, we're going to check for under arm stains and ring around the collar.
Oh, this one does have under arm stains.
Now I normally don't put a pin in these when I wash these, this is just for the illustration
of this example.
OxiClean is really great about getting out most stains that you will get on your house
cleaning uniforms.
Now if you get bleach on your uniform, you've actually changed the color of your uniform
and it won't get out bleach stains, but it will get out pretty much every other stain
that has coloring in it.
This is just great to know and again, there's no pre-treating.
You don't have to spray anything prior.
You don't have to rub or scrub anything out.
Literally take your cleaning uniforms and put them inside a bucket of solution with
OxiClean in it and you can leave them from one to six hours but I usually just do 24
hours because I do a wash every day, so when I throw the stuff into soak, I just leave
it, I come back the next day and that's when I do the next load of wash.
Those will be ready to be hung up.
Now because they are microfiber shirts, I don't throw them in the dryer because I don't
want to change the quality of the shirt.
Because they're microfiber, they wick away sweat and at high temperatures of the dryer,
then it breaks down the fabric.
Alright, now they've dried and I've laid them back on the counter and we're going to go
back through and we're going to do a double check to see if every stain came out.
Look at that, there's not a stain in sight.
Not on the front, not on the back.
Again, these are non-treated.
There's no ring around the collar.
There are no stains on the collar.
It's as good as brand new.
Next shirt, not a stain.
Every single thing came out.
Because we have the safety pins in there, we can see exactly where we marked the shirts.
Every single stain is gone.
That big stain on the front, gone.
Completely gone.
Now you can see why I'm such a fan of OxiClean.
From spinach smoothies to cranberry juice, blueberry juice, pomegranate juice, tomato
juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, all different kinds of cleaning stains, underarm, body odor,
you just never know what's going to get on your clothes, but that's why I love OxiClean
and I'm going to give this the Savvy Cleaner seal of approval.
Now if you have not used this product, now's the time to give it a try and I want to hear
if you like it as much as I do.
Let's start a conversation.
Tell me all of your uses for it and some of the dirtiest stains that you've got out with OxiClean.
Let's start a conversation in the notes below
and until we meet again,
leave the world a cleaner place than when you found it.
