We'll each get cards with names
of famous people written on them.
And our goal is to casually name drop these people
into the conversation as smoothly as possible.
You cool with this?
-Sure. -All right, great.
Your cards are right there. -Okay.
-My cards are here. Let the name dropping begin.
I'll just start with a random question.
Steve, what are you doing for Thanksgiving? Any plans?
-Family is all going to get together.
And we usually get -- we usually have about
30 to 40 people. So we -- you know.
-That's big -- -It's a big, big
bunch of people that come.
-I mean your family -- your family is there.
-Yeah, my family's there. You know who is coming this year?
-Oh, my gosh. -LeBron James.
[ Bell dings ] -Whoa!
-And how that came about, you will never believe.
-Well, I mean, you've got time. You can tell me the whole --
-He loves turkey, for one thing. -Wow.
So that's the perfect person. -And he heard we're getting
a lot of it, and he's a big turkey fan.
-You know what we're getting a lot of?
-Hmm? -Climate change.
-Really? [ Laughter ]
Is that going to have any impact on your plans for Thanksgiving?
-Yeah. Usually -- Yeah, it will, actually.
I'm sorry I brought it up, but you kind of hit it home.
But, yeah, we usually have dinner with a couple of people
on an iceberg.
[ Laughter ]
-That sounds horrible. -No, it's actually --
Well, it's nice. That's what the pilgrims did.
So that's what we do. You know, we get on there.
It's me, my wife, you know, Al Gore.
[ Bell dings ] We just talk about, you know,
the situation and what we have to deal with and stuff.
[ Laughter ] it's kind of beautiful.
In fact, it's kind of perfect actually.
-I would love to meet him. -You would?
-Yeah. -Who else is on
your bucket list of people you want to meet?
-Oh, man. There's so many. -I mean, no. I mean --
-Well, LeBron James was one of them.
-And there you go. And every year you meet him.
-Let me just say that it's magical time of year.
[ Laughter ]
-Wait -- I mean, yeah. -Starting with the holidays.
-Is it Doug Henning? That type of magic?
-Other people, too. -Really?
-Yeah. -It's magical, yeah.
I feel it. I feel the holiday magic.
-You know who I'm going to say, don't you?
-Are you going to bring up a little man?
-David Copperfield! [ Bell dings ]
-I thought you were going to say Harry Potter.
[ Laughter ] -No.
-[ British accent ] Not Harry Potter.
David Copperfield. -David Copperfield.
-Another one of my favorite Dickens books.
Now you know -- [ Laughter ]
I would have book reading parties.
-Yeah. -And just rage out.
Wine, books, wine, books.
I mean, I'd be there with everybody.
I mean, I hate to just name names and tell you
who I would read books with, but famous authors,
J.K. Rowling would be there, of course.
-No. -Famous TV stars.
The entire cast and crew of "The O.C." was there.
[ Bell dings ]
People like -- yeah.
[ Laughter ]
Getting viral and things -- I'm sorry.
-I'm just laughing, because one of the things
that I love really more than anything,
is the bit you do with James from The Roots.
[ Bell dings ] -That's right.
[ Cheers and applause ] You like that bit?
-When you're writing the cards
and he's trying not to laugh, but he's laughing.
-He's laughing, all right. -He laughs.
-He's laughing hard. -He's laughing right now.
[ Laughter ] -Yeah.
-Do me a favor -- try not to laugh.
[ Laughter ] See?
-No, he can't do that.
[ Laughter ]
He just got every -- look at his different facial reactions.
He's sad, he's happy, he's smiling, he's frowning.
[ Laughter ] He's mad, he's upset.
His stomach is upset. I mean, he's like --
[ Laughter ]
He's like Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa, and Po,
AKA, the Teletubbies. [ Bell dings ]
-Oh, my gosh. [ Cheers and applause ]
-Oh, all of them in one.
He's like one -- all the Teletubbies got together.
Almost like a Voltron, or a Transformer type of thing.
Yeah, I love kids shows and all that.
-You know what kids show I love, like, more than any?
-No. -"America's Funniest Videos."
-Ohh. That's my man, dude. -And, yeah.
[ Laughter ] -Who hosts it again?
Is it Tom Bergeron? -Tom Bergeron, yeah.
-Does he still host it? -In later years.
But Daisy Fuentes hosted for awhile.
-Yeah. That's right. -And, yeah,
it's had a lot of different hosts.
-Yeah, of course. -But you know --
[ Laughter ]
You know who is more important than the host?
-More important? Of course. -Was the man -- No!
The man who wrote the theme song
to "America's Funniest Home Videos."
-I forget how that song goes.
-I don't know how the hell the song goes.
[ Laughter ] -I forget the song.
But he was important.
-But his name was Dan Slider. [ Bell dings ]
[ Cheers and applause ]
And that man doesn't get enough credit.
-Doesn't get credit? You don't even know the song.
-But I love it. I love it. You know why?
Because it goes viral. -Yeah.
I remember the song.
-You do? -Yeah. It goes --
[ Laughter ]
