Youtube daily Nov 16 2018

Hello everyone thanks for tuning in again if you're in the u.s. and you're

interested in what's coming for smart home deals for Black Friday

stay tuned I'm gonna give you as much as I can here now as I said if you're in

the u.s. this video is specifically for you for all of these other countries

that have Black Friday deals I'm trying to put together some more information

there it's not as forthcoming as it is in the US right now but I will put

together a couple of other countries as I can obviously I can't get to all the

countries in the world here and what Black Friday deal you're going to have

but right now what I think you're going to find is that most of these deals will

translate to your country if you have this product available I can already see

here in Canada some of these deals are matching up on the Canadian versions of

these sites so what's important to note also is that a number of these retailers

have already started and there's going to be a little bit of a different phase

of deals happening on different days so what I'm going to ask you to do is read

the description down below it has all the links and it has all the days and

all of the devices that I'm going to talk about here and even more than I'm

going to talk about here on this video as I said Amazon's already started their

Black Friday deals but the big day is the 22nd here of November same with Best

Buy they've started some deals some things are available now but their big

day is the 22nd we are also seeing a lot of deals coming from companies like

Target Lowe's Kohl's you know those kinds of retailers have a lot of deals

out there as well most of them are starting on the 22nd as well some

discrepancies from that Microsoft is having a Black Friday sale they start on

the 22nd but one of their deals that I'm going to talk about here today starts on

the 23rd Jett comm is starting on the 21st Newegg is starting on the 22nd

let's start with smart home speakers because I think that's what a lot of

people are going to use this Black Friday to pick

the Echo Dot and the Google Home many are both basically half off now Amazon

obviously is selling you their Echo Dot three you also find a lot of packages so

for example Eco be paired with Echo Dots you can go and get those and basically

you're usually getting the Echo Dot for free with a product like that or a ring

doorbell things like that now like I said both of them are exactly half off

the Echo Dot $24 off of Amazon and the Google Home

Mini if you go to Best Buy Walmart all of those retailers you're going to find

it for twenty-five dollars whereas if you go to Costco actually you can pick

up three for seventy dollars now Amazon's products are all basically they

come up with the dollars off so the Echo Dot is twenty five dollars off the Echo

is thirty and as you get more expensive their deals get more and more dollars

off maybe not percentage-wise better but dollar wise better the other big deal

that I want to tell you about here from Best Buy the Google Home Hub and the

Lenovo Smart Display those are both $99 from Best Buy and you're able to go

pick up one of those Smart Displays for what I would say is a great price here

one other really sneaky deal here that I think is really good from Best Buy all

their deals start a 5 p.m. on the 22nd the Apple home pod is two hundred and

fifty dollars u.s. that's a hundred dollars off its regular price so let's

move on to some of the smart home peripherals there are a ton of devices

here and as I said in the description I have the full list there but this is not

an exhaustive list the whole nest line of products the nest indoor/outdoor the

smoke detector and all the nest hello doorbell they're all around $70 off

you'll kind of see 50 or $70 off in general the smoke detector only has $20

off but most of those products are going on sale at Lowe's and Kohl's for that's

50 to 70 dollars off so that's a big discount for the

line of products that includes the thermostats and includes just about

everything in their line something that I've really struggled to get into are

lots of those home video cameras basically because they are so expensive

now one of the deals out there coming the Netgear are low it's a three camera

kit normally around $300 you can get it for 189 so that's a hundred and ten

dollars off actually and again it's a three camera kit to get you into that

that deal is that Newegg on the 22nd but you can also get a deal for the Netgear

are low pro 2 it's a 4 camera set and normally that's an $800 set for 580

dollars so that's 220 dollars off that's a pretty significant discount again for

a 4 camera pro level set from Netcare one deal I wanted to point out from Best

Buy the bring video doorbell 2 is normally around $200 on its own but if

you go to Best Buy here on the 22nd again at 5:00 5:00 p.m. here if you go

or you're online you can get that in an Echo Dot 3 gets added in automatically

here for a hundred and forty dollars so again that doorbell itself is $200 an

Echo Dot 3 the third generation which is a very good smart home speaker that's

usually $50 so overall you're getting about a hundred and ten dollars off on a

really good set a product similar to that deal the Eco be fourth generation

thermostat is normally two hundred and fifty dollars u.s. you can get it for

two hundred dollars from Best Buy again and you will again get an Echo Dot 3

so I think we can see a bit of a pattern from Amazon and their partners there in

terms of deals you can also get a deal about $20 off the Eco be switch Plus

which is a product that that I like I've seen people struggle with it but it's a

that's a good price for a good motion sensing light switch they're on the

tablet side of things Amazon is really leading the way here again they have all

of their fire tablets on sale you know when we talk about the fire

seven yes that's a little tablet not a time you can do with it unless you have

a Prime subscription but for $29 you're going to be able to get one of those

that's $20 off which is basically half of the device there that's incredible

and then there fire eight and the you know the fire 10 those have increasing

discounts on them as well from a streaming perspective Amazon has

all kinds of deals again the big deal I want to tell you about from them is the

fire TV cube is half off so it's $60 these deals look like they're starting

on November 18th so I don't know how long they'll last so you're going to

want to watch Amazon they have some deals the tablets start on the 16th

these look like they're starting on the 18th the rest of the streaming deals are

really kind of all over the place target has a couple of deals the Google

Chromecast $25 that's $15 off its regular price the Roku streaming stick

is $30 so that's $20 off its price over at Walmart you can go ahead and you can

grab a Roku ultra for actually half of its regular price and then on top of

that being Nvidia shield on Amazon is $40 off so it's a hundred and thirty

nine dollars and again you know for you international folks like myself I'm

seeing the same deal really on amazon.ca finally I know it's not really a

streaming box it's more multimedia and games but the Xbox one x and s those

different bundles have different opportunities from Microsoft comm you

can get $100 off of a One X and about $80 off of One S bundles in terms of TVs

there's a lot of TVs that call themselves Smart TVs but ultimately

there's only a couple deals I want to tell you about here this one's really

strange so I literally have to read it off of my phone here the 65 inch sharp

or a TCL Roku TV is $400 this is at Walmart and their specific models there

that basically what they say is depending on which store you go to they

will have one of those and in limited quantities at Walmart and

basically it'll be at that four hundred dollar price points so kind of a strange

deal there but for the models and for the specs that you're getting especially

with the the Roku there you really have a Roku streaming device with a good size

TV at $400 so that's a pretty impressive deal one other TV deal to tell you about

from Best Buy only in store on November 22nd you can

get a $150 this is at the Amazon fire edition TV from Toshiba it's a 4k TV at

43 inches so again that's a pretty impressive deal but you got to go in

store to get that one now the Fitbit charge 3 may not be one of the premier

devices out on the market anymore but it's still a pretty good watch I have

the Fitbit charge 2 and I've tried out the charge threes they're still very

good smart home wearables the 120 dollar price tag is $40 off and you're gonna

find it from a ton of vendor so Fitbit really pushing their that all of their

devices are around that 40 50 $60 off mark depending on the price of their

product and at multiple retailers so if you've been looking at a Fitbit for a

while you can go ahead and pick one up on Black Friday we've seen these deals

with the Apple watch series 3 nothing out there with the series 4 as of yet

and still on Black Friday what we're going to see is Apple discounting or

continuing to discount the Apple watch series 3 I think it's a pretty good

price at $200 that's about $80 off we're seeing that

at Macy's and Target on the 22nd overall guys that's what I've been able to pull

together here in the u.s. in terms of smart home there's obviously a lot more

out there the lifx bulbs are $20 off from

Microsoft tp-link has a number of different retailers that they have some

of their smart plugs and smart bulbs off you know from Microsoft from other

retailers as well so there's just a ton that is going to come out here but these

are some of the best deals that I've heard so I hope this is helping you in

the u.s. of course and those of you internationally stay tuned

I'm gonna get to you as soon as I can thanks for watching everyone and we'll

see you next time

My Cafe Subscriptions FAQ - Duration: 7:30.

Hey everyone I'm Ola, and today we are going to play My Cafe: recipes &

stories. In this video I'm going to continue telling you about subscriptions

if you haven't watched my previous video please do it, the link is in the

description, and if you have watched it and you still have questions and you

want to learn more then let's go!

so let's probably start. well, if you haven't

seen my first video about subscriptions, then please do it, there is a link in the

description to it, and right now I'm going to answer most popular questions

there is also a Note on our official Facebook page please, take a look at it,

the link will be also in the description. So elite member status is acquired

through the bank, I have told you about it in my previous video, but you can also

activate it through the township, and if you do is through the township, then

you necessarily have to come back to your cafe and then get back to the

township, because otherwise you just won't see the bonuses, so please do this

little thing if you activate your free trial or any other plan from the township.

Now I think that we should talk a little bit more about different plans: so one

week is given to you for free: you have to choose that first option 'try for free'

and later on if you don't cancel the subscription you will be charged 499

EUR or USD per week, plus you will get 400 VIP per week. If you change your plan

to monthly afterwards, you will be charged 9.99 + 800 VIP, and the annual

plan is $49.99 plus 5000 VIP. You only get your VIP for real payments, and you

get the VIP points in your in-game mail. Kevin will send you the VIP points and

please open that email, at least, because otherwise if you don't open and delete

it, you won't to get your VIP and you will have to apply to the support service, guys.

There are also some points that I would love to mention is that if you activate

your free subscription, and this is your first connection of the payment method

to the game, Google Play or App Store can charge you one dollar, which will return

when you cancel the subscription. This is actually the safety measure from the

stores, because they make sure that you will be able to pay. You can activate

your free subscription only once, and it will last

for a week. Don't cancel it till it comes to an end to keep the bonuses. I will

also show you how to see the final date for a subscription. So you go into your

Township, and see? Right here under the name of your Township you see the amount

of elite citizen, right now it's just me. So you click on this icon, you see all

the bonuses and you also click on that information sign above "You are an elite

resident". Click here and you see that the free trial period will expire one

day, and also there is a link to the instruction on how to cancel the

subscription on Google Play, I will also add a link in the description. And right

now I'm also going to show you how to cancel a subscription, how to change your

subscription plan on iOS, watch closely. You enter your settings and then

you go to your account and you click iTunes and App Store, your Apple ID, you

view it, you see your subscriptions, you click here and here you see the

My Cafe subscription. If you don't see it, then, guys you haven't subscribed yet.

So here you have your free trial, and then you will have the elite membership

for a week, you can shift here: you can click it and this is how you can change

your plan. However I really suggest that you wait

till the end of your free trial subscription, and you see a message here

that you won't to be charged for your free trial and after the free trial ends,

your subscription will renew, unless cancelled by a certain date. Please

cancel it by this date that is shown to you in your subscriptions menu.

the test 1euro or $1 will also come back to your account. You can activate your trial

subscription anytime, and it will not go away until you use it. You can activate

your free subscription only once, and it will last for a week. There is also the

'Restore purchases' button, which means that you will be able to restore all

your purchases and progress by Apple ID or Google Play ID even if you fail to

restore progress with Facebook. This is an additional way to restore your

progress to My Cafe, but this button works only for those who has activated a

subscription at least once in the game, even if it's a trial subscription. But there

is one important thing guys regarding your accounts, because I know that some

of you are playing with several player IDs in My Cafe but with just one

Google Play or App Store account. With subscription it doesn't work like that -

the subscription works only for one Google Play or App Store account and

one My Cafe account. So you need to use different store accounts for different

player IDs in the game if you want to have subscriptions on all of those

player IDs.

Let's talk about the elite members bonuses right now because first

it's the ability to take two tasks at the festival simultaneously, because now

we have 42 tasks in the festival board, however if you want to take two similar

tasks, you will see a pop up tip saying that their progress will not sum up, but

it will go gradually. For example you take a task for two gold gifts, and then

you purchase one gold gift, then only one task is done. You have to purchase

another gold gift to fulfill the second task. This is how it works, there is one

simple rule that the same tasks with just different amount of resources that are

needed to be collected or spent do not sum up. You can also cancel or finish any

task and take a third one instead, while the first one will be still in progress.

This is okay, as for the township bonuses: so if there is at least one elite member

in a Township, all residents will have the following bonuses: they will see how

many tasks their competitors have taken and fulfilled, but you will not see which

tasks your opponents are taking so no worries here, this will just shift the

strategy a little bit, besides you will not see which town is elite in the

regatta, so it's a common strategy for all townships now that you will probably

not be able to store your final tasks at the end of the festival and then make a

blast with that. Plus, every Township member will have +5 attempts to ask a

customer to order any other recipe with spices at the coffee shop per are one

elite member in the township. So you can have up to 100 changes for everyone if

there are 20 elite members in the town.

In the township ranking for example you will

see this wreath, as I have it right here. Also when players will be looking for a

township they will also see your prestige level.

All the bonuses

depend on the elite member and if the elite member changes townships, all

bonuses go with them. Actually guys I think so far this is it, and please feel

free to ask more questions in the comments, and please read the

infographics and all the instructions about subscriptions from Google Play and

Appstore: this is not really complicated and once

you get into it, everything will become smooth

I also want to remind you

that those prestige subscriptions do not guarantee a victory in the festivals

they just make the game more comfortable

thank you so much for playing with me I

hope you have enjoyed this video if you did and if was useful to you, then

please put your thumbs up and subscribe to my channel and let's play together.

I have also chosen 5 best comments under my previous video, the list of the

winners is right here: guys thank you very much, the pink gifts will be sent to

you in the game within three business days! if you also want a pink gift please

leave a comment below this video on YouTube, and ask some really good questions

about subscriptions and tell us more about it. What it's your experience with

subscriptions? and I will choose 5 best comments by next Friday, so don't

forget to leave your player ID this is a combination of numbers in the bottom

right corner of the game settings. Till then, have fun in the game and see you

next time bye bye!

The Ultimate Friendsgiving: Hey Y'all | Southern Living - Duration: 6:07.

Hey ya'll.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of year.

I have some of my work friends coming over

to celebrate a friendsgiving.

Robbie from Bar-B Q and A.

Nicole from Mom Verses.

Jory from Something to Talk About.

And Robin, my co-host on Homemade Versus the Internet.

I'm in charge of the main dish, so I'm gonna make

the traditional Thanksgiving turkey,

but I'm gonna make it chicken-fried.

Let's get in the kitchen and start cookin'.

I grew up eatin' fried turkey for my Thanksgiving main.

I wanted to kinda play off of that for my friendsgiving,

but make it a lot easier on myself.

So I'm gonna make them chicken-fried turkey,

just like chicken-fried chicken or chicken-fried steak.

I have turkey cutlets that I'm going to batter and fry

and serve with gravy.

It's gonna be delicious.

To start off my judging mixture, I have to get

all-purpose flour and I'm going to mix it with salt

and crackers, some salt and pepper, and some cayenne.

My recipe calls for two and 1/2 cups of flour.

I'm just gonna kinda eyeball it.

Ya'll, this is a really cool recipe because it mixes

bread crumbs, which are already crunchy with flour.

The saltines add such a nice crunch, and they have just

big pieces that flake off whenever you eat them.

Into my flour and saltines, I'm gonna put a teaspoon

of baking powder, teaspoon of cayenne pepper,

and then some salt and pepper.

I don't like wearin' aprons when I cook too much.

Sometimes I do if I'm gonna get really messy,

but when it's somethin' like flour that can just brush off,

I'm not too worried about wearin' an apron.

I could use a fork for this, but why dirty up one more thing

when I could just use my hands.

I got my milk and eggs.

I'm going to mix here so that I can dredge my turkey cutlets

in my flour mixture, my milk mixture,

and then back into my flour mixture so it's double crispy,

and then into my hot oil.

This is peanut oil.

You can use canola oil, or you can use pure olive oil,

but not extra virgin olive oil.

Whatever your preferred frying oil is, is totally fine.

I like to fry in peanut oil because I like the way that it

gives a little bit more even browning,

and I like the flavor that it adds.

I'm heating this over medium-high heat, and the oil is

about 1/2 inch deep in the skillet.

To dredge my turkey, I'm gonna start it in the flour.

And the flour's just gonna lightly coat my turkey cutlets.

And then I'm going to put it into my egg and milk mixture,

and back into my flour mixture.

Putting the flour mixture on your turkey first helps

your egg mixture adhere to the turkey, and then putting

more flour on top is where you get your crispiness from.

These turkey cutlets I bought at the grocery store already

cut into cutlets so they're really thin turkey breasts.

If you can't find turkey cutlets, you can buy a boneless

turkey breast and then cut it really thin into filets,

and then use a meat mallet to pound it out,

and you'll get about the same result.

Hey!

Happy Thanksgiving.

Merry Christmas.

You're right on time, Robin.

As per usual.

It's false. The most

punctual friend you know.

Have you ever had chicken-fried turkey?

I have never had chicken-fried turkey.

Really, this is the first time?

This is the first time.

Do you want me to be honest with you?

It's the first time you've ever made it?

Yeah, it is.

I believe you.

I have a feeling this is gonna work out beautifully.

I hope so, it better.

I mean, it's breaded, fried meat.

You can't go wrong with that, ya'll, in the south.

They're so crispy and brown.

I know everyone's gonna love these.

What do you think, Robin, they done?

I think, yeah.

Hello. Hey, how are you?

I'm good, thanks for having me.

Yeah, thanks for coming.

Nicole.

Mama's here, and I brought cocktails.

The best part of friendsgiving.

Here, let me help you.

Hey, Robbie. Hello.

What's going on? What's happenin'?

Welcome. Thanks for having me.

Yeah, thanks for comin'. Yes, indeed.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ivy. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks for having us. That looks awesome.

Is this turkey? Yeah.

It's Ivy's family chicken-fried turkey.

Here, Robin, you can be the green bean dispenser.

I am so excited to dig in, but before I eat,

I kinda wanna know what everyone brought,

food and balls, go.

I come from south Louisiana, so my family always has

to have some sort of Cajun dish on the table,

and boudin balls just happen to be my favorite,

so that's what I brought.

Perfect. Awesome.

Who made the slaw?

I made the slaw, Ivy.

I think slaw goes with everything, and this one is

a smoked beet and Brussels sprout slaw.

Little carrots in there.

I always think you need to break the brown color palette

and have a little freshness on your plate.

So eat the rainbow.

Nicole, what'd you bring?

This is my family, so we always have to incorporate

an Italian,

something into our traditional American Thanksgiving.

So this is an Italian green bean casserole.

So it tastes like a stuffed artichoke in a casserole dish.

But I also brought the apple cider margarita.

Cheers.

Because why not?

Robbie, what'd you bring?

I brought some brined and barbecued chicken

with some Alabama white sauce.

It's gonna be delicious.

Yeah, that's the perfect Alabama Thanksgiving.

I think so.

Cheers, happy Thanksgiving.

Thank ya'll so much for comin'.

Thank ya'll for watchin'.

If you like what you saw today, be sure to follow us

on Hey Ya'll, Nicole on Mom Verses, Robbie on Bar-B Q and A,

Jory on Something to Talk About,

and me and Robin on Homemade Versus the Internet.

Happy Thanksgiving, ya'll.

Happy Thanksgiving, cheers.

Bela Bartok's Infinite Tonality - Duration: 9:05.

this video is sponsored by CuriosityStream.

hey, welcome to 12tone! it may sound like the name of a mid-2000s nu metal band, but

Axis Theory is actually one of the most interesting and potentially important ideas about harmony

to come out in the last 50 years.

it was developed by Hungarian theorist Erno Lendvai to explain the revolutionary works

of one of the biggest classical composers of the 20th century, Bela Bartok.

Bartok's music was a rich blend of traditional ideas and new innovations, and his approach

to harmony gives us some really cool insights into what chords are capable of.

you see, Bartok rose to prominence in the early 1900s, around the same time composers

like Arnold Schoenberg were famously rejecting the concept of tonality, or building your

music around a key center, instead inventing new kinds of musical structures that treated

all twelve notes as equal.

composing with all twelve notes is called chromaticism, and Bartok wanted in on that

action, but he was also fascinated with folk music and earlier traditions, so he wasn't

prepared to abandon tonality completely.

instead, he combined it with other ideas in order to develop his own systems, which have

applications far beyond his own work.

so what is axis theory?

well, it's pretty much a direct evolution of an old friend, functional harmony.

we've talked about this many times before, but to briefly review, functional harmony

is the idea that different chords in a key have different functions, or jobs to do.

these break up into three main categories: you have tonic function chords, like the I

chord, which provide a sense of rest, subdominant chords, like the IV, which add instability

and motion, and then dominant chords, like the V, which are directional enough to point

you back home.

traditional functional progressions work by starting on tonic, moving to subdominant,

then dominant, then back to tonic to start all over again.

the I-IV-V-I progression has been a staple of Western music for centuries, and it's still

in common use today.

but Bartok wasn't a fan.

instead, he prefered progressions like this one: (bang) which Lendvai argues is still

basically the same thing, even if it doesn't really sound like it.

how? well, let's take a step back and look at which chords actually do which jobs.

if we're in the key of A, then obviously A major has tonic function.

if we go up a perfect 5th from there, we get to E, the V chord, which has dominant function,

and if we go down a perfect 5th instead, we get D, the IV chord, which is subdominant.

but what if we keep going?

well, going down another perfect fifth from D gets us to G, which isn't in our key so

we'll ignore it for now, although don't worry, we'll come back to it.

going the other way though, a perfect 5th above E is B, which is in the key.

specifically, it's the II chord, B minor, which is generally considered subdominant.

after that is F# minor, the VI chord, which is tonic, and then C# minor, the III chord,

which is… ok, confession time.

if you've watched my previous videos, you've probably heard me say that III minor is a

tonic function chord, and I stand by that, but this is actually something that music

theorists have been arguing about for a really long time because we are very fun at parties.

anyway, Lendvai subscribes to an older view that says the III chord is actually dominant,

and this isn't ridiculous: it's very similar to the V chord, and it contains the 7th note

of the scale, which is so important to dominant function's sense of directionality that we've

nicknamed it the leading tone.

I have some arguments for why it could still be considered tonic, but Lendvai's system

falls apart unless it's dominant so I'll concede the point.

for now.

if we look at what we've got so far, there's a clear pattern forming: going up a fifth

at a time we've got subdominant, tonic, dominant, subdominant, tonic, dominant.

it's just repeating itself.

what if we were to expand that to chords that aren't in the key of A?

well, in that case G# chords would probably be subdominant, then D# chords are tonic,

A# chords are dominant, and so on, giving us a function we can assign to every single

chord, whether it's actually in our key or not.

and this makes sense, at least… sort of.

let's go back to our original 6 chords from the key of A. if we ignore these three and

just focus on the minor chords, we see that, again, B chords are subdominant, F# chords

are tonic, and C# chords are dominant.

but there's another key that that's all true in: F#. here, the chords become major, but

they keep their same functions.

it's just instead of working with these major chords from A, they're attached to these minor

chords. then we can take those chords, plop them back into A, and retain their functions

from F# due to the functional overlap between the two keys.

it requires a bit of harmonic sleight of hand, but if we repeat this process of borrowing

functions enough times, it results in a pretty elegant system.

ok, so in any given key, we can assign functions to all twelve potential chord roots, with

each function covering four notes.

these are the axes from which the theory gets its name, and Lendvai argues that any chord

can replace any other chord on the same axis without meaningfully changing the harmonic

structure.

this may sound absurd, but it actually makes a lot of sense, and we can see that if we

look at the dominant chords.

dominant chords point us back to the root, so let's say we're trying to get to A. the

traditional way would be to use the V chord, in this case E7: (bang) this is as vanilla

as resolutions get, but it does the job.

we have the G# leading tone resolving up to A, and the D falling down to C#. these two

notes are a tritone apart, and they combine to create the V chord's directionality, but

there's actually another chord that has both of them: Bb7. swapping this in for the E7

is called a tritone substitution (bang) and again, it works perfectly.

but axis theory gives us two more chords that should also resolve to A, so let's try them

out.

if we take G7 (bang) we get what jazz theorists call a backdoor resolution.

here, the target chord is usually minor, and the resolution works by moving the tritone,

in this case B and F, to the third and fifth of the target chord, in this case C and E.

it's a fairly common device, and certainly works as a dominant function chord. and, again

we can replace our G7 with its tritone substitution, Db7. (bang) this is a little out there, and

I don't think it feels quite as strong, but it's still a pretty solid resolution.

one thing we see from this example is that the dominant axis breaks up into two pairs:

you have E and Bb behaving one way while G and Db do a slightly different thing.

in fact, Lendvai breaks all the axes up into these pairs, which he calls branches, and

argues for a special relationship between chords directly across from each other on

the circle, whose roots are a tritone apart.

if I can do some theorizing of my own, and I can, it's my channel, who's gonna stop me,

I'd say this has to do with power chords.

ok, Lendvai probably wouldn't have called them that, but power chords are chords with

just a root and a 5th. they're like the scaffolding on top of which full chords are built, and

if we look at the power chords on one of our axes, there's a curious relationship that

pops up.

like, take A5, on our primary tonic branch.

here, the notes are A and E. if we try to move to a chord on the secondary tonic branch

like, say, F#5, our notes have to jump.

there's no way to get there that's more efficient than just moving everything down a minor 3rd.

if we try to move from A5 directly across the circle to Eb5, though, something cool

happens: the notes just sort of collapse inward.

(bang) both the notes in Eb5 are a half-step away from notes in A5, so their underlying

architecture is very similar, creating a sort of bond between the two.

that's my theory anyway: Lendvai has his own explanation, but it's more complicated and

involves metaphorical pendulums and whatnot, so I prefer mine.

anyway, back to that progression from the beginning (bang) we see that we've got our

I chord, followed by a chord on the subdominant axis, then a chord from the dominant axis,

and finally resolution.

it's just our I-IV-V-I progression dressed up all fancy.

this is a bit of a simplification, though: Bartok was a huge fan of what's called a split

chord, where you play both the major and minor 3rds at the same time, so the progression

would probably sound more like this.

(bang) this is why we haven't really talked much about chord qualities: it doesn't matter

if the chord's major or minor because, in Bartok's world, it's probably both.

and there you have it: a means of asserting tonality within the traditionally atonal space

of chromatic composition.

it opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities, giving us lots of new tools to play with while

staying true to hundreds of years of Western musical traditions.

that may seem like a pretty strange thing to get excited about, but again, I'm a music

theorist, and we are very fun at parties.

if you also get excited about strange things, you'll probably love this video's sponsor,

7 Essential Tips That'll Help You Stop Drinking Cow Milk|HFE♪ - Duration: 8:53.

7 Essential Tips That'll Help You Stop Drinking Cow Milk

If you have cow milk protein intolerance or you don't feel well after drinking it, it's important you know how you can get calcium and other nutrients from other foods.

You may need to stop drinking cow milk because it doesn't make you feel well.

Perhaps you're lactose intolerant, or maybe you just want to do it for personal reasons.

There are some things you should know so you don't suffer nutritional deficiencies and so you can keep cooking recipes that include milk.

Discover the 7 basic tips that'll help you stop drinking milk and still have a nutritious, balanced diet without calcium or other nutrient deficiencies.

We also provided some simple and original ideas to help you replace milk in your usual yogurts, sauces, and other recipes.

Try Vegetable Drinks.

Even though you've decided to stop drinking animal milk, there's a whole lot of vegetable drinks made with nuts, grains, and fruits out there that you can try.

Here are some of the most popular ones:.

Coconut: Coconut milk most resembles cow's milk in texture, consistency, and flavor. It's very nutritious.

Oats: Oat milk is one of the most popular vegetable drinks.

It's rich in fiber and helps balance the nervous system and make you feel energized.

Rice: It has a mild flavor and a sweet taste.

Rice drink is suitable for people with sensitive digestive systems or for people who are looking for a neutral-tasting milk.

Almond: One of the most nutritious and creamy drinks is almond milk, which is rich in calcium and vitamin E.

Soy: We don't recommend consuming this drink because human bodies don't digest it well and it can cause hormonal disorders. Soybeans should always be consumed fermented.

You can also find many other hazelnut, spelt, kamut, tiger nut, and millet-based drinks.

Smoothies Without Milk.

If you want a breakfast or snack alternative for drinks with milk, we offer some healthy smoothies made with fruits and vegetables.

You'll get an extra dose of vitamins and you'll feel sated for hours.

Try this delicious smoothie:.

Ingredients.

1 ripe banana 5 very ripe strawberries ½ beet 1 cup of a vegetable drink (200 ml).

Preparation.

Stir all ingredients until you get a smooth texture.

If you want, you can sweeten with honey or stevia.

Discover the Delicious Tahini.

For those people who are concerned about a lack of calcium from not drinking cow's milk, there are plant foods that have high levels of this mineral.

One of them is sesame, which you can consume in different ways: raw, roasted, in oil, as a vegetable drink, or as a spreadable cream, known as tahini.

Avoid What Decalcifies You.

In addition to consuming calcium-rich foods of plant origin, you should also reduce the foods that prevent you from absorbing the mineral or even rob you of the calcium you already have in your body.

These include:.

White sugar Refined salt Coffee Chocolate Soft drinks.

Make Your Own Yogurt.

If you love yogurt, there are two ways you can make them with vegetable drinks:.

Solidifying the vegetable drink with agar.

Fermenting the drink with probiotics (as those taken in supplements) at a warm temperature, as you would do with cow milk yogurt.

In addition, you can add fruit and nuts to these yogurts and get some surprising and delicious results.

Season with Brewer's Yeast.

For dishes usually eaten with cheese, we recommend a vegetarian animal milk-free alternative: brewer's yeast.

This nutritional supplement not only gives a salty and toasted cheese-like taste to pasta dishes, pizzas or spreadable creams, but it also provides a lot of vitamins and minerals.

It's a very beneficial superfood for your skin, hair, and nervous system,as it calms anxiety and improves your mood in cases of depression.

Oat-based Béchamel Sauce.

Another of the most common problems in the kitchen is replacing milkwhen preparing the famous béchamel sauce.

However, you can use oat milk instead.

This drink not only tastes good but also gives proper consistency and creaminess to the sauce.

Thus, you'll have a much more digestible and healthy béchamel.

Cheese and Coconut Rolls, a Very Simple and Gluten-free Recipe|HFE♪ - Duration: 7:59.

Cheese and Coconut Rolls, a Very Simple and Gluten-free Recipe

There are more and more people who suffer from intolerance to wheat or gluten without having celiac disease.

That's why we'd like to give you some great, gluten-free recipes!   Many people are looking for gluten-free recipes, especially different types of bread, as they are not usually easy to make.

However, these cheese and coconut rolls are a very simple recipe that is totally free of this protein.

Discover in this article how to prepare delicious and juicy cheese and coconut rolls.

Who should eat a gluten-free diet? Gluten is a protein present in some cereals: wheat, rye and barley.

As for oats, there are different theories about whether or not it contains gluten.

People with celiac disease can not consume any food that contains gluten or anything that may have been contaminated with trace amounts. Depending on the sensitivity of the person, this could affect them to a greater or lesser extent.

However, there are people who suffer more and more intolerance to wheat or gluten without being celiac, which is why they choose to eliminate this protein from their diet.

These rolls are a delicious, simple and healthy option to replace wheat bread with a gluten-free alternative.

Cheese and coconut rolls Discover the ingredients and the steps you must follow to prepare these simple and quick cheese and coconut rolls.

Ingredients To prepare the cheese and coconut rolls you will need the following ingredients: 3 eggs 3 cups cassava starch or yucca (360 g) 1 cup grated coconut (80 g) 1 piece of tender or melting cheese (250 g) ½ cup of sunflower, olive, or coconut oil (110 g) 1 cup of coconut or rice milk (200 ml) 1 tablespoon sea salt (10 g) Some clarifications Before starting to cook, we want to make some clarifications: These rolls do not require any type of yeast, since cassava starch has the ability to raise the bread. The secret is in the control of the oven temperature.

Cassava or yucca is a very common tuber in many Latin American countries. However, in several supermarkets around the world, we can find the powdered starch we need for this recipe.

Sometimes we can see that there are two types: the sweet and the sour, in which case we will use the first one.

If we want this recipe to be free of lactose we can substitute the cheese for 2 more cups of shredded coconut (160 g).

We can also add some spices to taste, such as smoked paprika, garlic powder, cayenne, oregano, etc.

This recipe is very easy to prepare, since it is not necessary to knead or let the dough ferment.

For our convenience, the fastest method will be through a blender, in which we will mix all the ingredients.

Elaboration To prepare these cheese and coconut rolls we will follow these steps: Preheat the oven to 210 degrees Celsius, only with the bottom tray.

This step is essential for the loaves to rise from the first moment we introduce them.

The first ingredient that we will beat will be the eggs.

Next, we will add oil, milk and salt in this order.

We will beat well.

We will incorporate the chopped cheese so that it can also be crushed well.

Finally, we will gradually add the grated coconut and manioc starch or cassava until all the ingredients are well beaten and integrated.

The result must be a fairly liquid dough that may surprise us.

However, this must be the case for the rolls to bake well.

We will put the dough in individual molds, for example, those of muffins.

We recommend using silicone molds that we have smeared before in oil.

We will put the molds into the oven and let bake at 210 degrees Celsius on the bottom tray for 20 minutes.

In this time, we will be able to see, without opening the oven, how the rolls inflate quickly.

Then we will activate only the top tray and bake for 20 more minutes.

This step is essential to toast the top of the loaves and that they do not sink when removed.

When removing the molds from the oven, we will separate each roll from the mold so that they do not become moist.

We will let them cool a little, although we recommend eating them freshly made.

If the rolls are well made and baked they should be round and empty inside.

We can eat them like this, or, fill them with what we want.

Is It Difficult for You to Express Love to Your Partner?|HFE♪ - Duration: 8:09.

Is It Difficult for You to Express Love to Your Partner?

If you find it difficult to express the love you feel towards your partner, maybe you should look inside to try to find the reason, since it is probably due to your previous experiences.

Expressing the love you feel for another person can be very difficult.

This, without a doubt, can cause various problems in love relationships.

We need our partners to express love for us verbally, not just with actions.

This comforts us, makes us feel good, and can even make us gain some security.

However, what weight do words have for us? If our partner is capable of expressing love only with acts, why is not this enough for us?.

The reasons why it costs you to express love.

There are several reasons why you find it hard to express love to your partner.

To discover them, we have to go back to childhood, the stage where most of the problems that we have to face in adulthood are born.

Some of these reasons are the following:.

Expressions of love are not familiar words to you.

You're afraid of commitment.

You've had disappointing love experiences.

Or, you may suffer from alexithymia.

Except for the last case, all the previous ones are based on experiences or situations that have marked the steps that you are now taking in romantic relationships.

If your parents did not use words of love, it is natural that you have not learned to relate like that in a couple.

In the same way, if you have had painful experiences or if for you romantic relationships are linked to the word "pain", it is possible that this has led to a fear of commitment.

Although all this has marked you, you can choose how to act in your romantic relationships. You are an adult and responsible for your life.

Being aware, you can learn to express love to your partner.

The last of the cases, alexithymia, is exceptional.

If you are not able to express love to your partner because you suffer from this neurological disorder, a professional will be the best person to indicate the steps you should follow.

Your partner is a great help.

If the problem of not being able to express love is due to painful experiences, it is important that you know that your partner plays a very important role.

The natural tendency will be to beat yourself up for not telling your partner what you feel.

They'll be mad at you for that.

All this does not help you.

Therefore, it is important that couples are aware that they have an important job in their hands.

They can help the person who is not able to express what they feel, do it.

To do this, we must take into account certain points:.

Communicate with your partner with love. Never use anger to reprimand them for something that is not so easy for them.

Choose a quiet, comfortable place, where both of you are comfortable.

This is the best way to talk about a subject as sensitive as emotions.

Be empathetic and patient. For your partner, expressing love is very difficult.

Put yourself in their place.

The positive of all this is that, although one helps the other to express love, the other person will also be learning.

You will discover how you manage your emotions, the way you express them, if you are able to externalize your anger or rage in the right way ….

Heal the past.

Although your partner is a great help, it will be very important to go to a professional who can guide you to go the right way.

Healing the wounds of the past is never easy and that is where you have to influence.

If the past does not heal, it will be very difficult for emotions to be expressed.

Anyway, we would have to ask ourselves what value is held in our partner expressing the love they feel for us through words.

Perhaps they do it more than anything through actions, but in our mind we harbor some belief that endows words with greater importance.

Maybe we should remember all those relationships where a lot of verbal love is expressed, but in practice they remain unproven.

What has more weight?.
