Why You Need A Snorkel On Your Jeep Wrangler + Off-Road Water Demonstration - Duration: 9:33.

I'm Ryan from extremeterrain.com and in this video, we're gonna talk about snorkels fitting

your 2007 to 2018 JK and we're actually gonna take you out on the trail and show you exactly

why you need one in some situations.

Make sure that you subscribe to our YouTube channel that way you can check out some detailed

videos about each of the snorkels we talk about today and all of the other products

we have on the website.

Again, these are just my picks for my top three snorkels but there are gonna be a lot

of different choices.

So there are a few different reasons that you want to install a snorkel on your Jeep.

The first one is of course if you spend a lot of time playing in the mud or doing some

water crossings where you may otherwise get water sucked up into the engine.

Water into the intake of the engine can hydrolock the engine which at its worst case scenario

can require a full engine replacement.

So that's definitely something you wanna stay away from and a snorkel is going to be great

for that.

Another reason to install the snorkel is the fact that it's the only true cold air intake

you can get for your Jeep.

Any other cold air intake is still going to be drawing air from underneath the hood and

no matter how hard it tries to get cool fresh air, it's not gonna be that efficient.

A snorkel drawing air from outside the vehicle is a true cold air intake giving you maximum

performance out of your Jeep.

And finally some snorkels will come with a pre-filter so if you do a lot of wheeling

in the sand or in other dusty scenarios, having a filter before the air even gets to you regular

engine filter is gonna be very beneficial making sure you're not sucking a bunch of

junk into the engine.

So we're gonna talk about three different snorkels today.

First, the RedRock 4x4 Snorkel.

That's going to be the least expensive option.

A fairly basic snorkel that's still gonna get the job done.

Then we're gonna jump into the ARB Safari Snorkel that attaches to your Jeep in a slightly

different fashion.

And finally, we're gonna talk about the Rugged Ridge XHD Snorkel.

That's the one we have installed on our Jeep behind us.

This has a low mount that you see here.

Also, a high mount and a pre-filter and this is the one we're going to be demoing today.

So, let's jump into all three options.

So like I said the first snorkel I wanna talk about today is this Rugged Ridge 4x4 Snorkel.

This is gonna be the least expensive one that we're gonna talk about today and this is gonna

go through the hood which is one of the more traditional ways that a snorkel will actually

go from the outside of the vehicle to the inside of the vehicle.

So with most of these snorkels, in fact with all of them you are going to have to do some

cutting to get them installed in your Jeep and it's really up to you what's less painful

for you to cut into, the hood or the fender with some of the other ones.

So we'll talk about the other options in just a second.

This one you do have to cut a little bit of a notch in the hood.

Now going along with that you have this piece running all the way along the top of the fender,

so there's a little bit more snorkel that you actually see.

Now, this is, of course, a visual thing.

It doesn't really affect how this is going to work but it is something to keep in mind

because you are gonna have this bolted to the side of your Jeep for the foreseeable

future.

Of course this does come all the way up to the top of the windshield frame giving you

plenty of clearance over even the deepest water and you're gonna have a bit of a cap

up here with a grid over top of it just to make sure no birds make a nest in there while

your Jeep is parked.

So this snorkel is going to work for you.

It's going to require you to cut through the hood and also to modify your factory airbox.

It's not going to have a lot of bells and whistles, it's going to be fairly basic but

it is going to get the job done for you.

Now the next snorkel I wanna talk about, this is the ARB Safari Snorkel.

This one's gonna be a little bit pricier.

It has a little bit of a nicer fit and finish to it.

But it's also going to attach to the Jeep a little bit differently.

So as you can see here, this just has a very short runner in this section here because

this goes through the body of the Jeep.

This actually goes through the fender where the other one went through the hood.

So that's gonna be a little bit different, you see less of the snorkel on the outside

of the Jeep, and if that's important to you this option may be a little bit better.

Because of this one going through the fender, it has a little bit more going on on the inside

of the Jeep, so the installation is going to be a little bit more involved but still

nothing crazy.

Again it goes all the way up to the top of the windshield frame.

So you have lots of clearance for the deep water and you have a little bit of a cap on

there with a grid.

Now the final option is actually the option that I like the best.

This is the Rugged Ridge XHD Snorkel and the reason I like this the best is I hate drilling

big holes in the side of my Jeep or cutting big holes anywhere in the Jeep.

Anything that you can't hide at a later date.

I always like the option to go back to a factory style and that's what this gives you.

This requires a little bit of cutting but you actually do it underneath the panel that

you remove from the cowl.

So if you ever take the snorkel off you can go back to factory.

This also doesn't require you to modify your factory airbox.

It actually changes out the bottom half of the factory airbox with this piece that you

see here.

So again no major modifications, you can go back to essentially a stock look with just

a small cut that gets hidden by a body panel.

The other big benefit to this snorkel is that it is a modular snorkel.

So what you see here and what we have on the Jeep is the low mount.

That's going to be just above the cowl.

It's gonna be a great cold air intake.

And if you're just doing some really short crossings, maybe you're worried about the

entrance into a puddle creating a little bit of a wave and you just want a little bit of

protection, you can run the low mount, that's going to give it to you.

If you plan on going through some deeper stuff, you can pop the high mount into place.

This attaches very easily and this is going to move that air intake all the way up to

the top of the windshield frame like the other snorkels that we talked about.

And this also has that pre-filter.

And I mentioned that before, the pre-filter is gonna be great because it's going to give

you an additional filter before the air even gets to the main air filter.

So if you're somebody who does a lot of wheeling in an area where there's sand or there's a

lot of dust that's gonna be really beneficial to keep a lot of junk from getting in the

engine that otherwise would get in there.

So that's a lot of talking about snorkels but it's a lot more fun to show you why you

need one, so we're gonna hit the trail and find some deep water.

So here we are.

We're at pit junior.

This is a pretty decent sized body of water that we're gonna take this Jeep through and

show you exactly the type of the scenario that you would want to have a snorkel installed

on your Jeep for.

Now, this pit is supposed to have a pretty hard bottom as far as the middle of it goes

anyway.

But as you go to either side where it gets a little bit deeper there's some sediment

on the bottom, it can get a little bit sloppy.

So we're gonna run it, we're gonna play with it a little bit and see how deep we can go

without getting completely stuck and me having to go for a swim to hook up a winch line.

But first thing's first we're gonna pop on the high mount.

We do expect the water to be high enough that we would want the high mount installed on

the Jeep.

So let's get rid of the low mount and pop the taller one on.

All right.

So here we are.

We got the high mount bolted up.

Just gonna go for it.

We've had a ton of rain.

I have to say I'm a little bit nervous not knowing exactly how deep it is but hopefully

at least the wave in front of the Jeep should come up over the hood, so here we go.

Just gonna hit it in second gear, four high, get a little bit of momentum going just in

case we do have a little bit of a soft bottom.

Here we go.

Well, we made it.

Definitely shouldn't have hit it in second, should have gone for first gear, but we made

it.

Bogged down a little bit.

It was definitely up to the hood.

A little bit of a splash, a little bit of a wave came over the hood.

So after that first run, I know what to expect, I know how deep it is, I know what the bottom

is like.

I want to give the snorkel a little bit more of a test so I want to find something a little

bit deeper and I understand the left is a little deeper but also has a little bit of

a softer bottom so I'm gonna carry some more momentum through so don't get stuck which

is also going to mean a bigger wave over the hood.

So deeper water, bigger wave, going faster.

Let's just do it, see what happens.

[00:07:35] [music]

[00:07:51]

Well, I definitely got some water over the hood, that's for sure.

And really that is why you install a snorkel on your Jeep.

It's not necessarily about the total depth of the water that you're driving through.

It's if you were coming off of a bank and you have a really steep entrance where that

intake might get dunked underwater.

It's if you want to just go out there and rip around and go fast and have a good time,

I can do that.

I have the confidence of knowing that none of that water is gonna get sucked into the

engine and not just ruin my day but ruin my year if I have to buy a new engine for my

Jeep.

So, I would absolutely not do that with a stock intake but I feel perfectly confident

doing it with a snorkel.

And that's what running a snorkel is all about.

So that's gonna do it for this video.

We talked about that RedRock 4x4 Snorkel, the ARB Safari Snorkel and we talked about

and demoed for you the Rugged Ridge XHD Modular Snorkel.

We had a blast out here.

We actually hit water so hard and so fast that we lost not one but two fender flares

all in the name of showing you why you need a snorkel, and I think we did a great job

of just that.

Make sure you comment below, let us know what you think, if you're running a snorkel, if

you like it, if you think they're stupid, if you like a different model that we didn't

talk about today.

And also make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel that you can check out some more videos

about all these individual snorkels that we talked about today, products on the website

and some of the best Jeep content out there.

Jeep Wrangler Insane Audio ATSC Digital TV Module (1987-2018 YJ, TJ, JK & JL) Review & Install - Duration: 8:35.

Hey guys.

So today I'm here with the Insane Audio Digital TV Module.

This is gonna be for all of you Wrangler owners that already have the Insane Audio navigation

head unit and you're looking to take it to a whole new level by adding that HDTV.

If you love to go out camping and if you're tailgating or you're just waiting to pick

your kids up from the bus, this is gonna keep you occupied and basically be a mobile TV

inside your cab area.

It's gonna be roughly $200 at the moment for the add-on, but I think that money is definitely

worth it when you're adding a mobile TV inside the cab.

Install is gonna be a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and

it's gonna follow the same process as installing your head unit with just adding a couple of

wires.

So let's jump into that install.

So in order to install our Insane Audio TV antenna, we need to rip apart our dash so

we can get to the back of our head unit.

If you wanna see a step-by-step install on how to put that head unit in, you can go check

out the product page for the Insane Audio navigation head unit.

So let's rip apart our dash so we can install our antenna.

So out of the box you're gonna get a couple of different components.

You're gonna have this long wire which will be your antenna wire.

You can mount this up wherever you like.

You can mount it on your roll bar or underneath your dash.

And it will come with some 3M adhesive tape as well.

So you can really stick it wherever you're gonna have a good signal.

Along with your antenna and the antenna wires, you're gonna have these two little antennas

that screw on.

So, be aware of where you're mounting this because this will be a lot bigger than this

little box.

So after you figured out where you wanna mount your antenna, you can take your HDTV module

and connect it to your antenna wire.

You can hand thread it on and then tighten it down with an 8-millimeter wrench.

This won't come with anything to mount this up like your antenna wire did with the 3M

tape on the back, but you will have enough room under your head unit to mount this.

After you have your antenna connected to your HDTV module, you can attach your wiring harness

from the module to your head unit.

So you will have a wiring diagram on the top of your head unit, but it will be this middle

connector here.

So after all of your components are attached, we can clean up our wiring and mount up our

head unit.

So after your head unit is in, you can attach this box wherever you like.

We had some 3M tape laying around.

We're just gonna 3M it to our head unit since we have enough space underneath the head unit

for that.

So once you have all of your wiring tucked and cleaned up, we can reassemble our dash.

So this system will be compatible with the JK 2001 like we have here.

It's also compatible with the older JK 1001 as well as the TJ models which is the TJ 1002.

So if you go into your apps, you'll see your Insane TV down at the bottom right hand corner.

It may be configured different, but this will be your application.

And then you can go in and look at all of your settings.

So this is your program.

You can set up your sort settings.

You can set up your pictures, your aspect ratios, resolution, TV format, and then you

can go over to the channel search and format all of that.

Once you go back to the home screen, it'll bring up an installation guide, put it in

your language, put in your country, and then you can go down to channel search and you

should be able to find your channel.

You have your channel search and then you also just have some more basic settings, setting

your time in your time zone.

You also have options for languages as well as basic settings.

And if you ever have to update your software, you can go into the software update and do

it that way as well as open up your GPS SD card and you'll be able to transfer over the

software files through here.

What I do really like about this is that it will not function if the vehicle is in motion.

So it does have safety precautions while you're using the TV.

So that's gonna be it for my review and install on the Insane Audio Digital TV Module.

For more videos like this, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Coding to save our coral reefs - Duration: 5:02.

Coral reefs are one of the most vulnerable and threatened ecosystems to climate change.

Understanding the global impact of climate change on coral reefs

is being presented at important policy conferences and meetings all around the world.

Our data are scattered all over the world and we really need to bring

that together and be able to collaborate together to have a common voice when we

go to negotiate for why it's important to deal with climate change now.

So, we're here in Mombasa Kenya. My name is Emily Darling, and I'm an associate

conservation scientist with the Wildlife Conservation Society.

My job is to coordinate our monitoring field teams all over the world for coral reef science.

That includes surveys that are under the water counting corals and fish

and sea urchins and other coral reef processes, as well as our social and

economic monitoring—so thinking about the ways that people depend on coral

reefs and how they use them for their livelihoods and culture.

Coral reefs around the world are in a crisis. There has been a shocking decline of living

corals over the last several decades, which makes them very imperiled

in terms of the function they're able to provide

to fishes that use corals for their homes and ultimately to fisheries who depend

on that biomass in order to feed themselves and their families.

When we go out to do any kinds of surveys, I tend to be the one who's

counting the coral, so I know the coral taxonomy really well. I know the

different species of coral, and basically I'll measure a number of things.

One of those things would be: what's the cover of coral?

You know, it's hard coral soft coral and so on.

But also, are they bleaching? That is, losing their algae and

turning white? Or have they been damaged from other means like breakage and so on?

So there's a number of things that I will measure for coral.

There has been some dramatic losses. The last big compilation we did was about ten years ago

after the 1998 event. During that time, 50 percent of the corals died in

basically one year. Imagine that half the forests in the United States died in one

year. Imagine what sort of outcry and what sort of impact that would have.

Now, the issue with corals is it requires people out there diving and measuring

these things to know that. A lot of this would not even be known if it wasn't for

people like us.

Once our teams come back in from the

field, the data has been written by pencil onto these slates. The first step

is to then transfer that information on our slates into Excel. We then move into

R, where we've written code that automatically ingests the information in

those Excel templates and puts them all together into one big data set. Once we

start working in R we're working in another language, and so we need

to make sure that we version control those changes or version control that

language. And so GitHub is a really good place for us to store our code, to

comment on our code, and then to make sure that everyone knows how the code is

being used and how they can improve their coding to be able to improve their

science.

Because we've got large datasets, we need to use increasingly

sophisticated techniques to be able to understand these datasets better. To be

able to do that, you either hire somebody and pay a lot of money, or you find open

source softwares or network that can help out. The faster you can do that, the

faster you can get it into policy. That's one of my roles—is to try and get the

speed between policy to science as fast as possible. It's important to do

that because globally things are moving very fast. We are experiencing at a

greater speed the effects of climate change. We've had quite a number of other

bleaching events, and they're coming faster and faster. We may not be able to

solve the climate crisis if you like, but we can locally work on sustainable

fisheries; and if we have sustainable fisheries, the climate impacts will be

there, but they won't be as bad and as negative as they possibly could be. And

the most important thing is what we call collective action. That is the ability of

groups of people to get together to actually change things. That collective

action becomes more and more possible as people become connected. They immediately

start to think about solutions. Coral reefs are going to change into the

future. There's no stopping that, but trying to think about how we protect the

ones we can and how we transform the societies that depend on the ones

that might not make it—that's an incredibly controversial and contentious

conversation that we're having, but that we need to have as a society and we need

to have that conversation that's informed by evidence. And the only way we

have that evidence is by working together around the world and trying to

bring as much science as we can to inform those really tough decisions.

Thin Skinned Donald Trump Is Destroying The Republican Party From Within - Duration: 3:49.

On Thursday morning, Donald Trump tweeted out the following attack on Republican Senator

Jeff Flake.

He said, "How could Jeff Flake, who is setting record-low polling numbers in Arizona and

was therefore humiliatingly forced out of his own senate seat without even a fight,

and who doesn't have a clue, think about running for office even a lower one again?

Let's face it, he's a flake."

First and foremost Donald, you're really not in a position to criticize anybody else's

poll numbers.

I mean, you're the guy that actually set the record for having the lowest poll numbers

at your point in the presidency about six months ago.

Not to mention, I think right now you're topped off at, what, 42% when you take the polling

averages.

Yeah, probably not a good avenue for you to mention about other people when your own poll

numbers are struggling to break 50.

Here's why this tweet actually matters.

Donald Trump is so thin-skinned that he has taken it upon himself to continuously attack

any Republican that dare speak out against him.

That's a problem for the Republican Party, but to be honest, it's a problem I don't really

mind.

Right now, Donald Trump is helping to destroy the Republican Party from the inside out.

See, Trump doesn't understand because he's never been a politician nor has he studied

politics, that you don't attack members of your own party, especially during an election

year.

I know Jeff Flake is not running for a Senate seat again, he's decided to retire from that,

but he's attacking the Republican Party.

Keep in mind, the only thing that other Republicans Trump has attacked, including Jeff Flake,

the only difference that they have is whether or not they're willing to stand up to Donald

Trump.

They agree on every single policy, so he is attacking people because they won't blindly

support him.

He's doing it very publicly on Twitter for the entire country to see just how dysfunctional

the Republican Party has become.

Let's be honest, there's always a ton of dysfunction within both the Democratic and Republican

Parties.

It's always been that way and it's always going to be that way.

What Donald Trump has done is bring the dysfunction of the Republican Party to the public's attention

by continuously attacking members of his own party for doing nothing more than not blindly

supporting them.

Again, there are no policy differences to speak of, there's just some Republicans willing

to step out and say, "Yeah, Donald Trump is wrong about this particular issue or he's

wrong about the Mueller investigation or he's hiding things."

They don't disagree on tax cuts or not caring for the environment or passing subsidies for

already profitable companies, no.

The only thing Trump is mad about is that they won't support him with undying loyalty.

It is that thin-skinned nature of Donald Trump, President Snowflake if you will, that is going

to continue to destroy the Republican Party.

They'll rebuild, they'll get better, but in the time being, when we're at a point where

you have a Republican Party that desperately is clinging to survival as we head into the

midterms, Trump's attacks on any Republicans big or small, representative or senator, is

going to come back to haunt him in the end.

Doctors Are Warning Everyone To Not Use This Light, And The Reason Why Is Terrifying - Remedies One - Duration: 3:08.

despite of the fact that LED streetlights are more efficient and save

money they can hurt you today's video will discuss the reason why doctors are

warning everyone to not use it only delight before you watch this video

please take a moment to subscribe our YouTube channel by clicking the

subscribe button then tap the bell icon so you will be the first to know when we

post new videos daily a lot of cities got their uniqueness by

how they look at night can you imagine New York Paris or Sydney with the normal

lighting but nowadays technology is not focused on looks but rather on cutting

costs and safety however it turns out that LED streetlights have shown

surprising consequences it is believed that LED lights will save city funds on

power and maintenance also they change the appearance of cities and allow for

better clearer vision at night even though the old orangish yellowish lights

seem warmer and more pleasant to some they sure do not illuminate the streets

well as they are supposed to on the other hand LED lights provide greater

illumination with cooler night light however the American Medical Association

AMA warns about them a lot of people complain about the harshness of the

lighting that happens in some cities where LED streetlights were implemented

for instance the city of Davis California started changing over its

streetlights to LED as there have been a lot of complaints about the new bright

lights for causing glare and hurting eyes the lights can lead to eye damage

at a certain color temperature Ct according to the AMA

Lighting must not exceed a CT above 3000 Kelvin we will explain this more clearly

candle gives off a CT of about 1,800 K while an incandescent bulb has a CT of

about 2400 K many of the LED lights being installed around the country have

a CT 4000k they consist of a cool blue

wavelength that can scatter when it hits the eye thus although the road seemed

brighter and clearer this light can actually damage the retina additionally

it should be known that the bright lights contribute to more light

pollution so that they can throw off people's sleep rhythms and animals as

well and shake up their migratory patterns the AMA made a few

recommendations converting to LED lighting but using the lowest possible

emission of blue light when doing so and protect the LED installations to reduce

glare and possible harm what do you think of this important information let

me know in our comments section below if you liked this video give it a thumbs up

(keys typing)

(mellow techno music)

- When I read the script, I sort of was intrigued

by every single aspect of it.

One, the first thing was A24, you know was,

that they've put out so many good movies.

They have like an almost spotless track record,

so I thought, well there's gotta be

something very interesting about this,

and usually I'm not a horror guy, acting-wise.

I watch every horror movie.

I'm actually obsessed with horror movies to watch,

but I always felt like, well what would I have to do?

Sometimes the characters are not as well-drawn

as in this particular script, and then I read it and I just,

I thought that even if there wasn't horror,

the horror elements of it,

just the character of Peter was one of the most nuanced,

well-drawn portraits of a teenager I've ever seen.

I feel like most teenagers

in film and TV

handle grief in a way that's sometimes unrealistic

and sets kind of an unrealistic expectation

of how you're supposed to handle tragedy.

And I loved watching someone not be able to deal with it

and shut down and internalize it

and put it in his stomach and sort of more

emulate a PTSD type of situation.

When it happens, I think as a young person

your first instinct is to avoid it

and to not let yourself feel all the things

that are happening and then,

it's more interesting, especially in a movie,

when it catches up to you.

You know, after you've tried to internalize it,

it kind of brims to the surface.

And I just, I thought that was so cool and so ballsy.

So automatically, I was just super excited

in the first 20 pages, and then by the end

I was just terrified and shaking,

and I felt like I just had to go in there and,

yeah, get down and dirty.

I think that there's this connotation of a horror movie,

where it's really more about the blood and fear

and not as much about the characters' arcs

or the dynamics between the characters.

And horror has almost become a dirty word,

and I feel like now we're in a

generation of movies that are not like that,

and it's sort of like a reinvention of the genre

with movies like Get Out and The Witch and this movie.

And I feel like it's just a little bit

of a simplification to call Hereditary a horror movie.

Even if the horror wasn't in it,

I think it would work really well as just a family drama,

and it would be dramatic enough,

but it just adds another element

of making you sick to your stomach

that it curdles into this nightmare, you know.

It just smokes crack halfway through and just is relentless.

It's like emotional terrorism, is what Ari calls it.

With a movie like this, I mean,

it's impossible not to be an open wound.

I think if you're not doing that,

then I don't know if you're gonna serve the movie.

I think me and Ari both decided

that I had to really feel all this stuff

or I don't know if Peter could be a fully-fleshed person.

You know, he's just, there's too much going on

to be able to fake it so I kinda just let it all come out,

and then after just tried to pull it all together.

It's sort of the process.

So, I felt like everything emotional fell into place

if physically stuff was tolling.

(bang)

(screaming)

But yeah, like the desk thing I said to Ari,

I was like "I'll do a real desk, man,

"give me a real desk. I'll do it."

Ari was like, "I really appreciate that,

"but I probably cannot legally let you do that."

So I was like okay, so I thought

that he was gonna give me this like nice foam desk,

is what he said, and then I showed up,

and it was like a foam top but it was a hard bottom.

And I was like, (inhales) "Okay let's do this."

and it hurt so bad just slamming

but I wanted to nail it.

So I mean, but automatically, I mean

if you slam your face against something and really hard

and you hit your nose really hard,

automatically you're like, you know, revved up.

So I tried to, at every single scene be doing,

something physically was bothering me.

I mean like, after that scene I remember

I had fake blood streaming down my whole, you know,

chin and my nose and all on my shirt

and then real blood gushing down my knee,

and I couldn't walk 'cause my ankles were all swollen,

because I had launched back into the chair,

and everything was all bloody and messed up, so,

yeah it's pretty easy then start crying and screaming

when you're literally in writhing pain.

But it was fun, I mean it was like exhilarating,

but wouldn't recommend it, wouldn't do it again,

not with this schnoz.

These Foods Will Give You Kidney Stones the Kidney Stone Diet - Duration: 10:07.

Suffering from kidney stones?

Learn how to prevent them in just 6 easy steps with the kidney stone diet.

In this video: why calcium is important, why you should avoid oxalate and what foods are

more likely to cause kidney stones.

Hello, this is Katherine.

Welcome to 00Kidney - don't forget to like and subscribe!

I want to start this video with a bad news and a good news.

If you suffer from kidney stones, studies state that you're missing some specific chemicals

needed to prevent them.

And that's the bad news.

But, the good news is that you just need to modify your diet and some of your habits to

prevent kidney stones.

Let's get started.

Step 1 avoid oxalate rich foods Why is Rhubarb dangerous for your health?

Foods rich in oxalate, like for example Rhubarb, Spinach, baked potatoes are really common

and, in many cases, are suggested for a balanced diet.

Unfortunately, these foods can be really dangerous for the health of a particular kind of people:

those suffering from kidney stones.

The most common type of kidney stone, calcium oxalate stone, is more likely to happen when

our diet is rich in oxalate.

What to do then?

If you are prone to calcium oxalate kidney stones, try to stay away from oxalate rich

foods.

Those include: Rhubarb, spinach, baked potatoes, sweet potatoes,

miso soup, beets, okra, Bran cereals, French fries, Stevia sweeteners, cocoa powder and

chocolate, almonds, cashews, grits, raspberries.

The human urinary tract is not supposed to expel solid matter; kidney stones are so painful

for this reason.

Step 2 Never be dehydrated Kidney stones are formed from the substances

diluted in the urine.

Increasing your urine output is the way to go if you want to prevent the formation of

the stones.

Ideally, you should aim to drink at least 8 cups - and up to 16 cups of water - a day.

If you drink 16 cups you will need about 9 bathroom trips in 24 hours.

It's a lot, but still better than a trip to the ER, though.

If you live in a very hot area or exercise regularly, you should drink even more.

Remember that it only takes being dehydrated for so much to start developing a kidney stone.

My advice?

Other than drinking at regular intervals, you can drink lemonade (without sugar) instead

of water.

Citrate, present in lemon, can help preventing the formation of the stones.

Step 3 Get enough calcium Calcium oxalate stones are the most common

type of kidney stones, amounting to 70-80% of the total.

To prevent them, your best bet would be to get a good quantity of calcium.

Wait, what?

If stones are formed from calcium and oxalate why should I want to get more calcium?

When calcium is assimilated from foods, it will bind with oxalate in the intestines and

expelled right away with the feces.

But, if oxalate is ingested and there's not enough calcium in foods to bind it, the body

will take calcium from the bones.

This will not just damage your bones, but is also a major cause of kidney stones.

Foods rich in calcium, suitable for a kidney stones diet, include: kale, broccoli, raw

okra, bok choy, watercress and almonds.

My advice is to get calcium from foods and not from supplements.

There's a correlation between calcium supplements and kidney stones.

What you can supplement is Vitamin D, it helps absorbing calcium.

Step 4 Reduce sodium intake To reduce sodium intake is usually one of

the first advice nutritionists all over the world give their patients.

It's not just useful to reduce water retention, blood pressure, and the incidence of cardiovascular

disease.

It is also really beneficial for the kidney health and to reduce the chance of kidney

stones.

Excess of sodium can increase the amount of calcium in the urine, with the chance of causing

kidney stones.

Statistics say that Americans eat about 3500 milligrams of sodium per day.

Reducing this quantity to half or less has been proven immensely helpful.

What I would do is to start removing processed foods and packaged foods.

They always contain an unhealthy amount of salt.

And obviously reduce or avoid altogether the use of table salt.

Step 5 Limit animal protein Limiting the consumption of foods like red

meat, fish, eggs, poultry, and cheese can be really beneficial since it lowers the chance

of most types of stone.

A high protein diet is a cause of high levels of uric acid and limits the levels of citrate,

and both conditions can cause kidney stones.

My advice?

Try to limit your daily intake of animal proteins to no more than a half portion.

Step 6 know your stones Knowing what type of kidney stones you have

is really helpful in treating them.

There are several types of kidney stones and the most common are calcium stones.

Calcium can bind with oxalate or phosphorus to form stones.

Another type of stone is uric acid stones.

About 10-15% of patients are reporting them.

Uric acid is formed during the normal metabolism of protein.

An excessive quantity of this acid in the urine can bind to form a stone.

Reducing the amount of animal protein ingested is very useful if you suffer from this particular

type of stones.

Struvite stones are formed after an infection of the urinary tract.

Diet is not effective to treat them, and you would need a diagnosis and a treatment from

a specialized doctor to treat them.

Other, less common, types of stone include cystine stones, caused by cystinuria.

In any case, I always recommend to get checked as soon as possible and to get medical help

in presence of symptoms like blood in the urine or pain too harsh to sit or lay down.

This is all for today!

BlackBerry KEY2 REVEALED Price, release date, specs for new Android phone ● Tech News ● #TECH - Duration: 2:41.

BlackBerry has today revealed the successor to its popular KEYone handset - the BlackBerry

KEY2.

Described by the smartphone trailblazer as "an icon reborn", the BlackBerry KEY2

like its predecessor blends the old with the new.

It features a classic QWERTY keyboard for those smartphone users who still aren't

used to typing on a touchscreen.

But it is also powered by latest version of Android, Android Oreo, and comes with a dual-lens

camera on the rear.

The KEY2 also introduced the new Speed Key - a shortcut key that gives users instant

access to the apps, contact and functions they use the most.

The BlackBerry KEY2 will cost £579 in the UK and $649 in the US.

An exact release date has not been pencilled in yet but it will begin shipping this month.

The BlackBerry KEY2 boasts a redesigned intelligent keyboard as well as a 4.5-inch touch display

that includes 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass.

This offers increased scratch resistance and creates a more seamless design and edge to

edge look.

BlackBerry said the KEY2's keyboard will make typing on the go "more immediate and

effortless".

Key height on the BlackBerry KEY2 has been increased by 20 percent for a more comfortable

and accurate typing experience.

It also includes in-keyboard fingerprint reader.

BlackBerry said the KEY2 offers up to two days battery life, has 6GB of RAM and comes

in two storages sizes - 64GB and 128GB.

Both offer expandable storage thanks to MicroSD support.

The BlackBerry KEY2's rear camera is made up of dual 12MP cameras and the handset is

powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

It also supports quick charging if you're in need of a quick battery boost before an

important meeting.

ALERT: The "Big One" Is Coming FAST - Duration: 3:48.

Yellowstone caldera eruption fears have spiked as the supervolcano's largest geyser erupted

for the eight time.

So far, scientists aren't certain why the Steamboat geyser continues to erupt, adding

to the fears.

After years of silence, Yellowstone's Steamboat geyser, a better show than Old Faithful, has

spewed boiling water hundreds of feet in the air eight times since March.

Steamboat, the tallest geyser in the vast Yellowstone National Park, isn't reliable

at all, unlike the more famous Old Faithful that belches steam with regularity.

But the fact is, Steamboat has been more faithful, at least lately, spewing eight times since

March 14, after being silent for nearly four years.

But that regularity is terrifying and puzzling scientists.

Until this recent series of eruptions, the last time Steamboat blew was in September

2014.

Steamboat's latest eruption was Monday morning when the geyser shot boiling hot water hundreds

of feet into the air.

Steam billowed from the geyser for hours longer.

Steamboat is located in the Norris Geyser Basin, known to have the hottest and most

changeable thermal area in nearly 3,500-square-mile wilderness park that sits on a volcanic hot

spot called a caldera.

That accounts for the geyser's towering columns of steam (it's very, very hot underground)

but leaves a major fear-provoking question unanswered: Why now, and is it a sign the

giant volcano is waking up?

Scientists don't know why the Steamboat geyser has become more active, but they still

insist that no major eruption is on the horizon.

"It is a spectacular geyser," Michael Poland, the U.S. Geological Survey's scientist

in charge of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory, wrote to CNN in an email.

"When it erupts, it generally has very big eruptions."

Data collected so far suggests a pattern to the eruptions within the series.

If it all "proves out," the days surrounding June 11-12 are good dates to potentially see

the Steamboat geyser erupt, Forbes reported.

"Most geysers erupt infrequently, unlike Old Faithful, so Steamboat is not enigmatic

in that regard.

But Steamboat has a mystique about it because it is the tallest active geyser in the world.

It gets attention because of this, and rightly so," Poland said.

The day of the first eruption, park staff detected activity on nearby seismometers,

thermal gauges, and water discharge on a US Geological Survey stream gauge.

Yellowstone National Park staff arrived in time to observe steam from the geyser but

no water column.

According to the Geological Survey, this is a usual occurrence after a vigorous water

eruption.

The steam phase can last several hours.

Scientists consider Yellowstone to be a "'supervolcano," which refers to volcano capable of an eruption

of more than 240 cubic miles of magma," according to the National Park Service.

This distinction is based on massive eruptions over 600,000 years ago.

Although the caldera is considered active, scientists believe that it is unlikely to

erupt in the next thousand years.

There doesn't seem to be a direct relationship between these eruptions and the supervolcano,

Poland wrote.

"The geyser is reflecting processes that are occurring in the shallowest part of the

system — tens to perhaps a few hundreds of meters deep, whereas the magmatic system

starts about 5 km down.

Geysers are supposed to erupt, and so what we're seeing is normal behavior."

So once again, we are being told this is all normal abnormal activity.
