PCR Capture is a free extension for Google Chrome that saves time and reduces errors

and duplications while sourcing, updating, and interacting with contacts in your PCRecruiter

database.

To install it, just search for PCR Capture in the Chrome Web Store and click 'Add to

Chrome'.

The plugin is self-updating, so you'll always have the latest release.

Once we've added the extension, the PCR logo appears in the Chrome toolbar.

When we first open the plugin, we need to enter a PCR login URL, username, and password.

Then we can select a database.

Once that's done, we'll see an options panel, as well as an option to switch databases

within the account.

We also have a toggle to enable or disable PCR Match, a feature which identifies the

names of your current PCRecruiter contacts on websites as you browse and adds interactive

links to them.

More on that in a moment.

First, let's check out the Options panel.

Capture has a Basic mode and an Advanced mode.

In Basic mode, any contact record we capture is processed automatically with no added user

interaction.

We've got the option to create all contacts under the database's Default Company, the

company name detected in the contact's data, or a specific company record we define here.

We can also select a Rollup list to add all of the captured names to.

In Advanced mode, we can view, confirm, manipulate, and augment the contact data before saving

it.

We also get manual control over duplicate merging.

This last option lets us disable the confirmation popups after each capture or set them to automatically

close after a moment.

Let's enable Advanced mode for this demonstration and walk through a sample Capture.

We've browsed to a web page that PCR Capture recognizes, and so a popup appears here on

the side.

If the contact wasn't in the system, we'd be prompted to add the new record.

However, this number indicates that there are already some records in our PCR database

that appear to be a match for this one, based on social network URL, name, email, and location.

Clicking on the popup takes us into the Select Record panel.

Here we'll see a list of the records that seem to be a match, with the most likely matches

appearing first.

We can review the suggested records and select the one we intend to update.

On the next screen, we're given the option to keep the record with its current company

association in the database, or we can create a new company based on the data collected

from the page.

We also may be given the option to move the contact into an existing company that appears

to be a match, or search for any other company in the database by name.

We'll keep this record with the current company and choose 'Next' again.

On the 'Review Data' panel, we can view and augment the information we're about

to save into the database.

At the bottom, we have the option to associate the captured record with a Rollup List, which

can be very helpful when you're sourcing a lot of contacts for the same type of role

and want to group them together in the system.

Once a Rollup list has been selected here, Capture will remember it until you select

another.

You can also link the captured record to a pipeline for a job – just search the position

by job title or ID.

Now let's look at the PCR Match feature, which lets you interact with people already

in your database as you find them on the web.

PCR Match is just one more convenient shortcut between your private recruitment database

and the public websites that you frequent.

We'll click on the Capture extension icon and turn on PCR Match.

When active, this feature skims the current page for any hyperlinks that appear to contain

a first and last name.

It then checks for matching names that exist in your PCRecruiter database.

If one or more names match, you'll see the PCR icon.

Two of these records appear to be a match.

Clicking on the icon for James in Santa Fe, we'll see that there are three records in

the database that match this first and last name combination.

Paging through, it looks like the third one is the one we want.

We can click on the name to jump to the record or use the icons below to send James an email,

use an integrated phone or SMS system to call or text him, add his name to a Rollup list,

or see his position Pipeline records.

The PCR Match feature stays active in the current browser window as long as it remains

open, and it will work on any web page where first and last name combos are used as links,

including popular social networks and search engines.

If you want to exclude a site from PCR Match scans, click the PCR Capture icon and use

the 'Exclude Current Site' toggle.

You can also control which sites PCR Match scans by going the Options panel and using

the PCR Match tab to add or remove sites from the whitelist.

your workflow, contact a Main Sequence representative.

Why Is It So Hard to Make a Realistic Twitter Bot? - Duration: 5:58.

[♩INTRO]

Twitter: the Internet's town square, Procrastination Central,

and the go-to place for level-headed political commentary.

OK, maybe not that last part.

If you've spent more than ten seconds on Twitter,

you're probably more familiar with tweets like:

"Forget #Congress, this guy should be kicked out of the country! Save #America!"

Fiery tweets can save or sink political campaigns and individuals' reputations.

But it's not just humans tweeting.

Thousands of messages like that example are blasted around the Twitterverse by bots, or automated accounts.

The prevalence of them, somewhere between 5 and 15% of active accounts,

has stoked fears that conversations on the platform could be driven by mindless puppet machines.

But how influential bots actually are is still a subject for research and debate.

What's more striking about them from a technology standpoint is just how simplistic they are.

See, chatting with you convincingly is still beyond the abilities of even the most advanced bots.

So if one wants to pass as human, it has to rely on simple tricks, and on you not looking too closely.

The term "bot" covers a wide variety of automated activity,

but they're all just programs trying to accomplish some pre-set goal.

There are plenty of benign ones providing simple services like earthquake information

or unrolling threads.

These accounts are pretty open about their botliness.

The more worrisome accounts are those that pretend to be human

and coordinate to influence public discussions.

On the front line are the sockpuppets, accounts that parrot content from a hidden author.

They're controlled through software, but with humans pulling the strings.

Amplifier bots then retweet and remix trolls' and sockpuppets' posts for a wider audience.

Approval bots bolster these tweets by liking, retweeting, or replying.

And sometimes, attack bots engage directly with individual accounts to harass or discredit them.

Now, despite spamming up your timeline, most bots are…

well, slightly smarter than rocks, but about as dumb as a fax machine.

They're basically just short if/then flowcharts that either spit out lines humans have written,

post links and retweets, or mash together fragments Mad Libs-style.

Like, one might be programmed to scan Twitter for any tweet containing the word "corgi".

And if it finds one, it'll reply with a cute dog .gif.

That might sound difficult, but it actually just requires some basic programming skills.

If you prod a little, the fakers often give away their facade with behaviors like posting

with inhuman frequency,

using absurd numbers of hashtags, and promoting other bots.

Despite their shallowness, though, influence bots can get surprising traction by liking

and retweeting each other.

They also piggyback on popular hashtags.

It all works because they assume, usually correctly, that humans won't look twice.

But for all those clever tricks, none of these bots are great conversationalists.

In fact, most are totally incapable of any dialogue.

That critical component of human-like interaction has proven very hard to automate,

whether on Twitter or anywhere else.

And it's unlikely we'll reach that milestone soon.

Right now, dialogue is easiest when the designer can predict

what the bot will need to talk about, for example, customer complaints.

In that case, the chatbot can follow a three-step cycle:

First, interpret what you've said.

Second, figure out what information to respond with, say, the departure time of your flight.

And finally, use simple rules to convert that information into a sentence.

Many bots, though, are trying to converse more open-endedly,

whether for entertainment, for political influence, or just to annoy you.

But designers can't script these interactions as thoroughly

because there are just too many possibilities to code for.

So, they have found a few ways around that.

Sometimes bot builders craft templates for inane responses that rehash what you've said.

This tactic was made famous by ELIZA, a 1960s psychotherapist chatbot.

ELIZA reflected your statements back as questions,

like "Does it bother you that you're sad about your mother?"

Another method is to fish through previous conversations for the most relevant responses

humans have given in similar contexts.

With enough experience, the bot can manage a few lines of coherence.

And finally, a bot can try to learn correlations between words you've said

and words it should say, effectively treating chatting like translation from one to the other.

The thing is, none of these methods work that well for open-ended conversation.

That's because, when we use language, we're not just spewing words.

We're trying to express thoughts about the world.

The computer, on the other hand, has no idea what it's talking about.

All it knows is patterns of words, with no understanding of how they correspond with reality.

To participate in the infinite variety of human conversation,

it would need to draw on experience with gravity, politics, sleep, and everything else we talk about.

It's a problem so complex that researchers joke it's AI-complete,

meaning you'd need to solve all of AI first.

But for now, the chattier bots do have some tricks to hide their linguistic incompetence.

Some change the subject whenever they don't know what to say.

Others might ask lots of questions to avoid saying anything substantive.

Most commonly, though, they resort to the Wizard-of-Oz trick:

If a bot gets out of its depth, a human swoops in and takes over

to maintain the illusion that they were there the whole time.

So if you spot a bot on Twitter, try asking it a simple question,

like whether a shoebox is bigger than Mount Everest.

It probably won't answer intelligibly, but if it does,

you can safely assume there's human behind the scenes.

And ultimately, that's a nice reminder of who's really responsible

for what happens on social media.

Because no matter how many bots there are… it's still people running the show.

Speaking of people, if you'd like to learn more about how humans and Twitter bots interact,

we actually did a second part to this episode over at SciShow Psych!

Because for something so rooted in computer science,

it turns out these bots have a lot to do with psychology as well.

You can find at youtube.com/scishowpsych.

Kellyanne Conway Pretends She's "Anonymous Source" While Bashing Her Husband To Reporter - Duration: 4:35.

There is a great new kind of exploratory piece, I should call it, in the Washington Post that

really takes a good look at the marriage between Kellyanne Conway and her husband, George.

For those of you who haven't been paying attention along at home, George Conway is a huge Donald

Trump critic.

He is now, he used to love Donald Trump.

He wept on election night, and he freely admits that because he was so happy that Trump won.

Well, now he hates Trump, and he tweets about it constantly.

He attacks him on Twitter.

He fact checks him.

He refutes his more dubious legal claims on Twitter, it's quite fun to watch actually

if you have a little bit of time.

So obviously, Kellyanne Conway, being Donald Trump's biggest lying supporter, married to

a guy who spends his days trolling Donald Trump on Twitter, surely there's going to

be some friction in that relationship and according to this new Washington Post piece

there absolutely is.

Reporter Ben Terrace actually spent time with the Conway's in their home, went hiking with

them to kind of really get the story, get to know these people and try to present them

as, "Hey, they're just like every couple out there that argues about things, and they laugh

about things, and aren't they just decent people overall?"

For the most part the entire article is not worth your time whatsoever so don't bother

reading it.

We all knew they were going to have some issues and butt heads quite a bit because he hates

Trump, and she loves Trump but there is something buried in that article that is probably one

of the most important things that we have learned about this Administration in months,

and I'm going to read it to you.

The reporter says, "You told me you found George's tweets disrespectful."

Kellyanne responds, "It is disrespectful.

It's a violation of basic decency, certainly, if not marital vows ... as a person familiar

with the relationship."

No, we're on the record here.

You can't say after the fact, "as someone familiar".

Kellyanne then says, "I told you everything about his tweets is off the record."

Reporter says, "No, that's not true.

That never happened."

Kellyanne: "Well people do see it this way.

People do see it that way.

I don't say I do, but people see it that way."

In the middle of an interview, now this actually took place a few days after Terrace had met

with them and was already working on the piece Kellyanne ... they had a phone conversation

to follow-up here or maybe it was in person, I don't know, but they had this conversation.

She's trashing her husband for his tweets and tries to tell the reporter at that point

to list it as somebody else saying that.

As "someone familiar with their relationship" told me, rather than "As Kellyanne Conway

said."

I dare say that this entire article buried the lead because that was it.

Kellyanne Conway is sitting there talking to the reporter but because she doesn't want

her own husband to know that she's trashing him in the Washington Post, she wanted the

reporter to just list her instead as "someone familiar with their relationship".

How many times have we read articles that we see Donald Trump get pissed about, we see

his supporters comment on our videos when we talk about him, that lists the source as

"someone close to Trump, someone familiar with the Administration, as a senior anonymous

staffer"?

Those little phrases pop up in stories every single day.

So I ask you this, how likely is it that some of those are Kellyanne Conway?

After all, we have proof right here that she attempted to be listed as an anonymous source

in this article about her and her husband.

So if she is willing to trash her husband or lay out all the dirt about him and her

marriage but wants to be listed as an anonymous source, don't you think it's a little likely

that she would do the same thing to her boss that she allegedly loves just like she allegedly

loves her husband because I sure as hell do.

And from this point forward I'm going to look at any article that lists an anonymous Trump

staffer or someone close to Trump ... I'm going to look at it as if it is coming from

Kellyanne Conway because what she did in this interview here is not something that she just

thought of at the spur of the moment.

She knows what she's doing and this sounds like the actions of a woman who had done this

plenty of times in the past.

(Are you the strongest?)

I keep ideals when destiny calls

P-P-PLUS ULTRA!

I can no longer open these wings

Flowers of regret bloom everywhere

One by one each seed I've sown within myself

Bears a fruit of screams of pain

Within these unfixiable day-to-day events

Now the crucible of possibilities opens, oh

Dreaming, going against my intentions

The square sky's unable to fill the gaps in my heart

A rampage of emotions arrive

I no longer wanna run away, break apart the days of lies

I keep my ideals with each and every life

Every regret, each time I sowed a seed

It becomes an invincible shield

✅ Broncos' John Elway makes puzzling remark about Colin Kaepernick - Duration: 3:57.

The Denver Broncos signed Case Keenum to a two-year contract in March, and Keenum is installed as the team's starting quarterback

But there are questions behind him. After being booed off the field in his home stadium last week, 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch has been demoted to third-string, and 2017 seventh-round pick Chad Kelly, who has yet to play a regular-season snap, was promoted to backup

If Keenum goes down, is Kelly really the answer? Broncos fans are wondering, and general manager John Elway was asked about the No

2 spot on Thursday.'He had his chance to be here'When asked, Elway said, "I still feel like we have time" to figure out the team's backup spot

As a follow-up, Nicki Jhabvala, who covers the team for The Athletic, asked Elway about the possibility of signing free agent Colin Kaepernick

Elway's answer was…interesting. And assumes no one has Google."Well, you know what and I said this a while ago, Colin had his chance to be here," Elway said

"We offered him a contract. He didn't take it. And I said in my deposition, and I don't know legally if I'm able to say this, but he had his chance to be here

He passed it."Jhabvala responded to a query on Twitter about whether Elway was talking about 2016, when he was in talks with San Francisco to acquire Kaepernick in a trade, or maybe 2017 or '18, meaning the Broncos had circled back to Kaepernick after he became a free agent

Jhabvala said 2016.Wanted Kaepernick to take a huge pay cutKaepernick, did in fact have a chance to join Denver in during the 2016 offseason; the Niners and Broncos talked for a couple of weeks about a trade, and reportedly settled on the parameters of the deal

But the major sticking point, and what Elway is hoping you've forgotten, is that he wanted Kaepernick to either take a massive pay cut or for the 49ers to offset his pay

Via an April 2016 story on NBCSports Bay Area, Kaepernick was slated to earn a guaranteed base salary of $11.9 million from San Francisco in 2016; Elway wouldn't pay more than $7 million, a 41 percent cut in pay – and wanted Kaepernick to be the starter

It didn't get better after '16. Denver wanted Kaepernick to agree to $7 million base again for 2017. Had he agreed to the deal, he would have walked away from $12

4 million in base salary and as much as $16.2 million over those two years. Not only was it sound for Kaepernick to say no (he did reportedly agree to a smaller pay cut, but the Broncos wouldn't budge), especially since solid veteran backups can make $7 million a season, let alone starters, he would have been setting a bad precedent for other players and with the union

Kaepernick wound up earning around $14 million in 2016 with salary plus bonuses, roughly equal to what Denver wanted to pay him for two seasons

This was a few weeks after the Broncos had offered Brock Osweiler a three-year, $49.5 million contract with $30 million guaranteed to remain with Denver

Osweiler spurned Elway and the Broncos to take a larger deal with Houston, yet was still welcomed back last year when the team needed a quarterback and was terrible
