Korean women's hockey team looks back at Olympic journey - Duration: 2:20.The formation of a unified Korean women's ice hockey team... was arguably the biggest
story of this winter games.
Regardless of ther record, by embarking on the Olympic journey together as one... they
made history.
Our Cha Sang-mi was at the press conference to hear about the experience directly from
the athletes.
The possibility of the two Koreas fielding a joint women's hockey team was first raised
by Olympic officials last June,... but the decision to actually do it didn't come until
less than three weeks before the start of the PyeongChang Winter Games.
The team's 27-day journey has come to a winless end, but looking back at their awkward ice-breaking
moments to Wednesday's team lunch of barbecue, the five games they played together were a
symbolic triumph.
In the words of head coach Sarah Murray, the 23 South Koreans and 12 North Koreans played
together "as a family."
At a press conference at Team Korea House, Murray described the experience as remarkable
-- seeing the players from the two Koreas hug, laugh, and even cry together.
"As for our players, I can't say enough how proud we are with what they have done and
how truly remarkable they are.
And this whole situation wouldn't have worked if it weren't for our players and their character."
"As a player, I was a bit disconcerted in the very beginning when they said they were
forming a joint team.
But practicing together, I didn't feel that some of us are from the North and others from
the South."
Looking back at the dramatic improvement of the South Korean team over the past four years,
Murray revealed her ambitions to take the team further.
"We are going to win at the World's, then we are going to be one step closer to competing
at Beijing at the Olympics."
As for the future of the combined team, Murray said it was still unclear, but she hopes to
continue thr relationship for the development of hockey in both countries.
On Tuesday, the team lost 6-to-1 to Sweden, one of the best teams in the world, but some
remarkable moments linger, such as the team's historic first goal scored by Randi Heesoo
Griffin,... an adoptee who acquired citizenship in South Korea, her birth country, just last
year.

Where Is The SOUL STONE? Avengers Infinity War, Captain Marvel, Wakanda Theories + More! - Duration: 10:17.In Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos wages war on our superheroes as he hunts down the Infinity
Stones for his masterplan of rebalancing the universe with the power of the Infinity Gauntlet.
Yippee-ki-yay, movie lovers, it's Jan here and right now just five of the six Infinity
Stones are accounted for in the MCU which means the whereabouts of the Soul Stone is
still unknown.
So today I'm breaking down in detail how, where and when we'll likely see the Soul Stone
in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
I'm examining evidence for the movies and theories you can see on screen now and there's
timecode links in the video description if you want to jump forward to any particular
theory.
If you've just discovered my channel, I do regular Marvel and superhero videos and today
I'm starting a new Avengers giveaway.
To enter, tap the bell and let me know in the comments below where you think the Soul
Stone will appear.
By the way, I'll be announcing the winner of my Black Panther giveaway later in this
video.
Spoiler warning, I'll be talking about Black Panther, previous MCU movies and speculating
on upcoming movies including Infinity War, Ant-Man And The Wasp, Captain Marvel and Avengers
4.
There were plenty of popular theories before Black Panther was released that the movie
would reveal the Soul Stone was in Wakanda.
If you've seen the film, you'll know that didn't happen, however, there's still a chance
that the Stone is hidden somewhere in the African nation.
We know from Black Panther's prologue that Wakanda's vibranium came from a meteorite
that hit the earth and then affected the plant life.
There's quite a convincing theory that the Soul Stone is buried deep in the centre of
the meteorite and it's that Infinity Stone which gives the Heart-Shaped Herb its extraordinary
properties.
This Soul Stone theory could also explain why the plant gives the person who ingests
it access to the ancestral plane and the ability to communicate with the souls of the dead.
By the way, the Soul Stone endowing the Heart-Shaped Herb with its powers would also fit the THANOS
theory, and I'll explain what that means later for those who don't already know.
One potential problem with this theory is that the Soul Stone is orange-coloured, whereas
the Heart-Shaped Herb is purple.
However, the colours of the Infinity Stones and the powers they grant do not always have
to match.
Scarlet Witch derives her power from the yellow Mind Stone, but her powers are red.
Also when we first encounter the Mind Stone in Loki's sceptre, it looks blue, but later
when it's broken open, the Stone's true yellow colour is revealed.
There is a potential wrinkle in this theory, though, which is that Black Panther director
Ryan Coogler has specifically said about the Soul Stone that
"I love the Infinity Stones as much as any comic book fan, it's just Wakanda already
has its thing, which is Vibranium.
For us, that was special enough, so to throw in something like another special thing didn't
feel right.
It felt like we should stick with our one MacGuffin for the country and explore that.
[Marvel Studios] never really was interested in putting a stone in there, either."
Now, that makes total sense as the movie gave us an awesome introduction to Wakanda and
it had a lot to pack into its runtime, so if they'd had to also include and explain
the Soul Stone, it might have all felt like a bit too much and taken the shine away from
the main story just in order to set up a future story.
But let's remember that Coogler is only talking about his own Black Panther solo movie and,
so, Marvel might still choose to reveal that the Soul Stone is in Wakanda in their next
film, Avengers: Infinity War.
Ok, let's get into the Infinity Stone theories for that movie.
We've seen quite a bit of footage of Thanos sending a huge army of Outriders to invade
Wakanda, and because we know he's trying to complete his Infinity Gauntlet, it seems highly
possible that he's after an Infinity Stone.
Among a range of Infinity War Lego sets are two different Infinity Stone scenes set in
Wakanda.
In one set, you can see one of Thanos's Black Order, Proxima Midnight, trying to steal an
orangey-looking Stone.
A leaked description for the Lego set also specifically says that Falcon is diving down
to save the Soul Stone.
While in another Lego set, we can clearly see Captain America and Black Widow defending
a blue Infinity Stone against an Outrider.
Now, you have to bear in mind that these are toy sets so they may be actual scenes or fairly
close to actual scenes, or the toy designers may have just mixed up different elements
from the movie to create an enticing product to sell.
I do think we'll probably get at least one Infinity Stone turning up in Wakanda in Infinity
War, however, it might just be the Mind Stone, because we know from the trailer that the
Black Order attempt to extract that from Vision's forehead, so the Avengers may take him to
Wakanda for treatment so it can be removed without killing him.
We also know from the Avengers: Infinity War prelude comic and the Black Panther post-credits
scene that Shuri has developed tech in Wakanda that removed the HYDRA programming from Bucky's
brain, and I think she may find a way to treat Vision as well.
However, we can't ignore that Thanos may simply be invading Wakanda for access to all that
precious vibranium and tech which T'Challa was about to announce to the world in the
first Black Panther end-credits scene.
Another alternate location for the Soul Stone in Infinity War is the red planet Nidavellir.
This planet, which is inhabited by dwarves, is where Mjolnir was originally forged, and
in Infinity War, it looks like Thor travels there with the Guardians to create a new weapon.
There's actually a Lego set of a scene from the planet and it shows an Infinity Stone
being used for what it calls a "space forge".
It's from the scene in the trailer where we briefly see Thor straining to control a machine.
This Infinity Stone might or might not be the Soul Stone, but I think it's interesting
that Thor's hammer Mjolnir was, to quote Odin, forged "in the heart of a dying star".
And if that "heart" of a dying star is the location of the Soul Stone, this would also
fit the THANOS theory.
OK, before we get too attached to the idea that the Soul Stone must be in either Wakanda
or somewhere else in Avengers: Infinity War, let's look at some theories that Marvel could
be saving the Soul Stone for use in a film after Infinity War.
The next film after Avengers: Infinity War is Ant-Man And The Wasp and what we know so
far is that the movie will travel to the Quantum Realm.
We haven't seen very much of the Quantum Realm yet in the MCU with just glimpses in Doctor
Strange and the first Ant-Man movie.
So, if Marvel felt they wanted the story and box-office pay-off from the reveal of a new
Infinity Stone in Ant-Man And The Wasp rather than Avengers: Infinity War, the Quantum Realm
would be a good place to explain where the Soul Stone's been all these years.
And there's actually a precedent in the comics for the Soul Stone/an Infinity Stone existing
at the subatomic level.
In a 1980s Incredible Hulk storyline, Bruce Banner travelled to the subatomic world of
K'ai where he encountered an Elder of the Universe called the Gardener.
At that time, the Gardener was in possession of the an Infinity Gem and had travelled to
K'ai in order to keep the power of the gem away from humanity.
I certainly wouldn't expect this story to play out exactly like this in Ant-Man And
The Wasp, however, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne could encounter a new Elder of the Universe
who controls or has access to the Soul Stone.
After all, the Elders of the Universe have already been introduced in the MCU in the
form of the Collector and the Grandmaster.
And it looks like the Quantum Realm will play a crucial role in linking all the movies between
Infinity War and Avengers 4 because the subatomic world that Ant-Man And The Wasp explores will
also connect specifically to the Captain Marvel movie and the rest of the MCU.
Quantum physicist Dr Spiros Michalakis, who worked as a consultant on Ant-Man, has confirmed
this link between the movies and has also suggested that once superheroes like Ant-Man
and the Wasp, and perhaps Captain Marvel, begin to understand quantum code, they will
be able to access powers that are considered impossible in the normal world.
For instance, they could, in theory, manipulate the physical laws of the universe like space
and time to create things like black holes.
And such powers would be clearly very useful if you're up against the likes of Thanos,
but it really makes me wonder whether the Soul Stone could be connected to these potential
new powers and abilities?
And finally we come to the mother of all MCU movies, the epic finale to everything that
Marvel Studios has been building to, Avengers 4.
So, will we have to wait till then to see the Soul Stone?
Well, we know from various set photos that it looks like the movie will incorporate time
travel.
And that ties back nicely to why the movies Ant-Man And The Wasp and Captain Marvel have
been placed between Infinity War and Avengers 4 as the exploration of the Quantum Realm
in those two films could open up the ability for other Avengers beyond Doctor Strange to
mess with the timeline and potentially prevent Thanos attaining supremacy.
And it's possible that Avengers 4 could be an attempt by the Avengers to recover the
Soul Stone before Thanos gets to it first.
Ok, I can't finish without mentioning that it's still possible the Soul Stone has been
hiding in plain sight ever since the first Thor movie.
In other words, it's located in the middle of Heimdall's armour or even in his eyes,
which is one possible reason for his glowing orange eyes and the fact that he can see trillions
of souls.
Heimdall having the Soul Stone also ties in nicely with the T.H.A.N.O.S theory I mentioned
earlier that all the objects holding the Infinity Stones in the MCU will eventually spell out
the word THANOS.
So far we've had the Tesseract, a 'T' for the Space Stone; the Aether, an 'A' for the
Reality Stone; Doctor Strange's Eye of Agamotto is held on a necklace, giving an 'N' for the
Time Stone; the Orb which contains the Power Stone provides an 'O'; and Loki's Sceptre
which held the Mind Stone, gives us an 'S'.
So, Heimdall, Heart-Shaped Herb or heart of a dying star would all provide the missing
'H' for the T.H.A.N.O.S theory.
If the Soul Stone were in Heimdall, then Thanos could take it when he attacks the Asgardian
ship after Thor: Ragnarok.
And if Thanos had to kill Heimdall to get the stone, that might lead to Loki offering
Thanos the Tesseract in order to spare the rest of the Asgardians.
Now, I want to know where you think the Soul Stone is going to appear?
And do you have any predictions on how it will be used?

When the only way to go free is to plead guilty - Duration: 12:46.This is James Thompson.
And this is James Owens.
They were both convicted in connection with the same burglary, rape, and murder case.
As you might expect the people on Malvern Street are shocked and horrified
by the crime. Colleen's brother and a friend
discovered the body last night.
But nearly 20 years later DNA evidence from
the scene was tested and the results showed neither of the men could have
committed the rape.
James Owens walked out of prison a fully
exonerated man, but James Thompson he's still labeled a convicted felon.
Same crime, same DNA results, very different endings.
To figure out why, we have to
start at the beginning with a knife, a lie, and a plea bargain that altered
their lives.
It began with the murder of Colleen Wilier in 1987.
Thompson, a gas station
attendant lived down the street with his wife and their two young boys.
There were helicopters and things flying around the neighborhood, searching the top of the
building and things looking for murder weapons, bloody clothes, anything of that nature
that could be linked to the crime.
He'd heard detectives were looking for a
knife and were offering a one thousand dollar reward.
And I jumped on the first
chance I could get to take that. So I goes back in the house and you know I
was stupid I guess you'd say, but I went into the bedroom and I got a switchblade knife.
And I took the knife out and this was the beginning of my whole situation.
Thompson told the police he found the knife in the grass about half a block
from the crime scene.
They said to me, they said well do you have any idea who
this knife belong to?
I said the knife was stolen out of my house they said uh you
have any idea who took this knife at your home?
And I told a lie and I said
yes, I do.
And I give them the name of a man, his name was
James Owens.
He and Owens were casual friends, until they
had a falling out over accusations of theft.
In a burst of vengeance,
Thompson implicated Owens.
His bogus testimony and that knife became the crux
of the entire case.
They described it as a mint green dagger an instrument
repeatedly used by the person who murdered the 24-year old woman.
So at this point and that's all city police have to go on, an unusual murder weapon
which they hope leads them to the murderer.
James Owens was arrested for the crime.
They never did look for any other suspects.
But they wasn't happy with the things I was telling them.
Thompson's version of the events changed multiple times throughout Owens' trial.
He started to look like an unreliable witness.
Even the prosecutor admitted his story was "implausible".
Worried that they might lose their case
against Owens, the detectives found a new focus.
A couple months after the crime
actually was committed, one of the detectives said wait a minute, Mr. Thompson
seemed to know too much to not have been involved in the crime himself.
They took a sample of Thompson's hair and tested it against a hair found on
the victim. It came back a match.
The hair analysis method used would later become
known as junk science, but at the time it was enough for the detectives to pin
down a theory that both Owens and Thompson were involved in the crime.
In what was his eighth version of events, Thompson eventually gave a false confession.
I testified to exactly what they wanted me to testify to, I said
exactly what I was instructed to say.
The state convicted Owens for the burglary and murder and Thompson for the
burglary, rape, and murder.
They were both sentenced to life in prison without the
possibility of parole.
The only thing that could feasibly save them was the emergence of DNA science.
Owens first heard about DNA in prison. He saw his friend and fellow inmate Kirk Bloodsworth,
become the first American man on death row to be exonerated by DNA testing.
And then, the OJ Simpson case popularized the science.
The answer will be clear to you as well.
I said to myself,
wow I wonder if I had any in mine.
So a couple my friends in prison that was
jailhouse lawyers, helped me. We wrote letters to the coroner's office and it
came back there was DNA.
Owens was asking for it to be tested ever since he had
been wrongfully convicted and had become aware that there was such a thing as DNA testing.
But no one would test it.
Lawyer Stephen Mercer, who represented both
Owens and Thompson in their individual cases, pushed for the DNA testing of two samples.
One slide contained sperm taken from the victim.
Also tested was the
blood that was on James Thompson's shorts, that police collected the day
after Colleen Wilier's body was found.
I couldn't sleep like two days, three days,
I said man, I said I might be going home.
And there it was.
The DNA came back,
said it wasn't mine.
The results showed the sperm sample didn't match
either of the men.
And the blood on Thompson's shorts was his own.
Owens was
granted a new trial. It would likely be months or even years away. The state
offered him a chance to go free immediately, if he did one thing:
take an obscure deal called an Alford plea.
Plea bargains aren't surprising.
They're the lifeblood of an overburdened
criminal justice system, where 95% of cases are resolved through plea agreements.
But the Alford Plea is unique.
It began with North Carolina versus
Alford in 1970, when a man named Henry Alford was charged first degree murder.
The state offered Alford a deal. If he pled guilty to second-degree murder, he
wouldn't be sentenced to die.
Alford took it, but in court he insisted
that he was innocent and he was only pleading guilty to avoid death.
The Supreme Court held that someone who insists that they are innocent on the
record, can still plead guilty to a crime and accept the status of a convicted felon.
The deal also allows prosecutors to keep
a win on the books and admit no wrongdoing.
To this day, 47 states and the
District of Columbia allow the plead. For Owens, who was imprisoned for over 20 years,
the Alford plea offered immediate freedom, but at the cost of living with a
label of a murderer.
I look at it like this: why would I go into court and plead
guilty to something I didn't have nothing to do with?
I was in prison for 21 years.
I'm not taking no Alford plea.
He took a chance with the trial, when his
day in court came 16 months later, the state dismissed his case.
It was the best
feeling in my whole entire life. Just to get out of jail.
And he walked
out of that prison with a garbage bag over his shoulder, with all of his
worldly possessions, but more important than what was in that bag, was that his
principles were intact, because he insisted on his day in court. When
confronted with that, the state folded.
But for Thompson, things moved much slower.
He was still waiting to secure a
new trial.
In that uncertainty, the state came forward and offered him an Alford plea.
It was his ticket out.
I was tired being
in prison I wanted to go home.
And the deal sounded real good at that point, I mean
it was like the man was offering me a chance at life again, so I took it.
I was released that day, February the 28th 2010, but I didn't know that by taking the
Alford plea, that it would still mean that I was guilty.
I would still have that on my record for the rest of my life and then there would be
nothing I could ever do in regard to my false imprisonment.
The lives of Thompson
and Owens are case studies in what happens when you take a plea
or wait for exoneration.
Owens has a steady job with his cousin's company
installing gutters.
In his spare time he takes care of his cousin's kids.
I'm 52 years old. Is it right for me to have kids now?
No, because I shouldn't be 70 years old when my daughter graduated from high school.
You know? I did 21 years.
There was nobody can ever give me that back. Nobody.
Not a judge or a jury can give
me back the time that I lost.
And I feel that I should be compensated for what I
went through.
He's now suing three detectives for the
mishandling of his case and the time he's lost.
If I could get a settlement I
would probably take $100,000, $200,000.
Put it into an account
where I can help inmates, other inmates that were in the prison system
and they were saying I'm innocent.
You know I would pay for the DNA.
Just to get
this person out of jail, just to prove to the state of Maryland look you're wrong.
Then, there's Thompson who lives with the stigma of being a convicted felon and is
unable to sue the state for false imprisonment.
Need one worker unload box.
Box fielders in Salisbury at 6:00 a.m.
What I do, I text them back I say
this is James I will do it. Right now the only jobs I can get are through a temp
agency, because every time I fill out a job application, the first question on
have you ever been convicted of a felony?
Yes I have been convicted of a felony.
I mean it's it's hard. I'd like to have a good permanent job you know, where
I could get 40 hours a week.
No one will hire me because of my record.
Society does not believe that innocent people go to prison.
When I went to prison I had two boys, I
have not seen either one of them since they were small children and I missed
out on having the opportunity to be a father to them and raise them and things.
And I've really missed that because now you know I won't ever have the
opportunity to be a dad again.
Thompson and Owens' lives diverged but are
still connected through the same case,
a crime that won't be reinvestigated.
To this day they have an unsolved murder.
They don't feel that way because, they
convicted me. The whole case was revolved around me and Mr. Owens and
was closed at that point.
I'd like to have the opportunity to be able
to sit down and apologize to him for what I did and for you know the amount
of time of his life that I actually feel that I took from him.
I can never give
that back, no more than I can give back the 20-some years on my own life,
but I think I would feel a little bit better in the heart,
just to be able to to say I'm sorry .
I mean, for whatever it's worth.
Hey guys thanks for watching! Since these cases, one of the prosecutors
has died and another prosecutor involved in Thompson's case wouldn't talk to
ProPublica about why she thought the Alford plea was a fair bargain.
ProPublica has been reporting on cases like these for over a year, but it's
especially difficult since no one tracks how often the wrongfully convicted are
pressured into accepting an Alford plea instead of being exonerated.

in this collaboration.
Thanks.

Here's What Happens When Red Hot Steel Is Placed On Top Of A Frozen Lake - Duration: 3:13.Scientific research has unlocked the answers to many of the universe's greatest mysteries.
If it weren't for the contributions of people like Albert Einstein or Isaac Newton,
it's hard to say whether life would be the same as we know it today.
Not only that, but conducting your own science experiments is a fun way to learn important
concepts and gain real understanding of how the world around you works.
Not knowing what the end result will be is what makes it so exciting!
Duo Beyond the Press clearly likes conducting such science experiments.
They recently decided to see what would happen if you placed red hot steel onto a frozen
lake.
The results might shock you…
Over the last few decades alone, science has made leaps and bounds.
Nowadays, you don't have to be a scientist to participate in your own cool experiments,
either.
The duo Beyond The Press demonstrates this better than just about anyone.
The online amateur scientists made a name for themselves online by posting videos of
a hydraulic press crushing various items.
At first, it may not sound like much of an experiment,
but the sheer power of the press captivated Internet audiences all over the world.
In the end, seeing stuff get smushed is pretty rad.
After posting numerous videos of the hydraulic press, they wanted to branch out and show
the world other cool scientific experiments.
So, they came up with a very unique idea involving hot steel and a frozen lake.
They wanted to see what would happen if they took a large piece of red hot steel and placed
it on top of a lake frozen over with a thick sheet of ice.
They knew the chemical reaction that would occur would be fascinating to watch.
The piece of steel they were using weighed a little over 40 pounds.
They used a large tank of propane to heat it all up properly.
They wanted it to be as hot as possible so the reaction was sure to be intense.
But would the steel melt all the way through the ice?
The steel was attached to a strong cord that they used to transfer it onto the ice.
Even though they only needed to carry the steel a few feet, they needed to be extremely
careful since it was so hot and they could easily get burned.
The area of ice that they placed the steel on was level so it would burn straight through.
They didn't want to risk ruining the entire experiment by having the steel block tip over
while it was reacting with the ice.
As soon as the steel touched the frozen surface of the lake, it started to slowly sizzle.
The reaction between the heat and ice wasn't immediately thrilling, but after a minute
or two, things really started cooking!
Before they began the experiment, Beyond The Press made a prediction that the steel wouldn't
be able to melt all the way through the entire sheet of ice.
However, now that the hot steel was in full force, they weren't sure if their prediction
would prove accurate.
This experiment is so cool!
The people behind this experiment are doing an amazing job ,and praise on sociel media
up-close looks at how amazing the scientific world can be.
