so I'm happy to have her around.

But AD just called talking about she's coming to pick up

Kam's shoes for a practice that he has

and this ain't the type of pop-up I need right now.

#35 A PRESENT FOR KALAWEIT / In the World of Kalaweit... - Duration: 6:36.

Every two years Laurie, a french veterinarian , comes here to Kalaweit in Sumatra

or Borneo to train our teams, and today she arrived at Kalaweit

with a gift!

I have brought an ultrasound machine that will

allow us complementary examinations, so it's

medical imaging in fact, and that will allow us to visualize some abdminals organs

including the liver, kidneys, etc.

So that's Lea, it's a female who has showed some signs of weakness so

Laurie with the team will do the first tests with

the ultrasound system.

It's rather reassuring because that the little moments of

weakness of Lea are related to a pregnancy...

It was not planned but we prefer that from sick animal obviously ...

The goal of Kalaweit is obviously not to make them reproduce since the

goal is to keep our enclosures for new captured gibbons

by poachers, and especially that our gibbons can be released into the

forest. So we do not want them to reproduce, but sometimes

small accidents happen ...

Our Indonesian veterinarians had never used an ultrasound, so for them too

it's very interesting and it's a real plus now for

Kalaweit. In the past, we had several deaths and during autopsies

we realized that there are liver abscesses caused by bacteria,

so besides identifying the bacteria there is important to us because we can

not make them live in an sterile environment, the animals are in

large enclosures in the middle of the forest, so it's important at every

once we have a sleeping animal to do a check of the liver and

the ultrasound will allow us to do it.

So it was already a few days since we did the ultrasound of

Lea, behind me Ali and Megan are going to catch another female

to put on her an implant, that's what we do with females who have a chance

to go back to nature one day, but during their long transit at Kalaweit,

we put them implants, and for

the males (and you saw it in one of my videos) that have to stay alive at

Kalaweit, because they have human diseases

you know it, we do a vasectomy, so as always the first step

to place an implant or for any intervention on a gibbon: it is necessary to do an anesthesia

So the implant is sure it seems a little painful and the general anesthesia

is still welcome, but it allows the animal to have a

normal life and not to breed for a year and a half in fact, it's about

progesterone inside, and that's still a good method since

it's reversible. After one year and half if we do not replace it, she will become

fertile again so if one day we want to release her well she will be able to build a

family, so that's the way for Kalaweit to manage the

population,

because it's not easy to control a population like that

(more of 300 animals) but the goal obviously again I repeat myself

it is not to reproduce these animals, but to release them into the wild and if

we have empty cages it's only to welcome new gibbons

who need help, especially those

victims of deforestation and poachers.

Thai Veggie Zoodle Bowl Recipe - Duration: 2:27.

(upbeat music)

- Hi, I'm Jerry James Stone,

and I'm gonna show you how

to make this delicious Thai zoodle bowl.

It's more than zoodles, but we'll get to that.

We're gonna start off with a delicious peanut dressing.

Okay, so first thing you're gonna add in is some soy sauce.

Then you wanna add rice vinegar,

and a little bit of sesame oil.

So next, we're gonna add in some peanut butter.

It's important to use a nice,

creamy peanut butter for this dressing.

A little bit of honey,

and then some sea salt.

Add in a little bit of brown sugar,

and then some pepper flakes.

Depending on how spicy you like it,

you can put a pinch, or you can put in a lot.

It's all up to you.

Okay, and so now we're gonna add in some ginger tea,

and the reason I did this is

because I buy ginger for a recipe,

and then I have all this leftover ginger

that I never end up using,

but I drink a lot of ginger tea,

so I always got that on hand.

Just add that in and then puree it all up.

Okay, so now we're gonna make our zoodles,

and really you can use anything you want.

I'm using zucchini and some summer squash and carrots,

but I've also used beets

and other root vegetables for this salad.

It's super tasty.

Whatever you wanna eat, it works.

So what you need to do first is cut off the ends.

So stick it onto the spiralizer,

and then you might have to actually adjust the blade too.

Certain blades work better with certain vegetables.

Go ahead and run those through.

Look at those beautiful noodles coming out of there.

I just like to stare

at the curly q's that are coming out of the spiralizer.

And then we're gonna add that to the mixing bowl

with some of the salad dressing

and just toss it all together.

I like to start off with a little bit

of the noodles and kinda get it worked in,

because if you add 'em all at once,

it's hard to get 'em evenly coated.

Once they're coated, transfer them to a bowl.

We're gonna chop up some fresh cilantro

and top the salad with that,

and then also chop up some peanuts

and add that on top too,

because what's Thai food without more peanuts?

And then we're gonna go ahead and slice up some avocado,

which you can never have enough of.

Throw on a lime wedge, and you're pretty much ready to go.

I love this salad.

It's a great side.

It's a great entree.

No matter which way you wanna go with it,

it's super filling, but it's also really fresh and healthy.
