These RIPP Long Tube Headers are for those of you that have a 2007 to 2011 JK with that
3.8L engine in it, that are looking for a long tube header because of the performance
gains you can get from something like this.
Especially if you have a RIPP supercharger installed, this is going to help increase
the efficiency of your engine that much more.
Pretty easy, too, because you don't have to do any major modification to the Jeep, but
some of these bolts are gonna be a little bit tough to get to.
And we'll talk a little bit more about the installation in just a second.
So, when you're shopping for aftermarket headers, you're really going to have two major options.
Then you're gonna have your shorty headers, and your long tube headers.
Now, a long tube header, because of the way it's designed, having these longer tubes before
the collector, is designed for more power and more efficiency in the higher RPM range.
Now, with a RIPP supercharger, or with any sort of forced induction, at higher RPMs you're
gonna be making more boost, you're gonna be making more power anyway.
So, this is going to go along with that mindset.
Now, if you're not talking about forced induction, in general Jeeps are one of those vehicles
that spend more time in the lower RPM range.
And you're looking to maximize torque and power at the lower RPMs, especially for someone
who's doing some off-roading.
So, that's a little bit counterintuitive to the long tubes.
But, again, if you are running a RIPP supercharger, you are probably looking for more power at
that mid- to higher-RPM range.
And, again, these are gonna go right along with that.
These are going to be a little bit expensive, but they are incredibly high quality.
They do come with cladded pipes.
They're going to be completely bolt-in.
They work with your factory O2 sensors.
They're made of a very high quality T304 stainless.
So, they do have a lot going for them, and if you're looking to squeeze every last drop
out of the engine of your Jeep, and you want something that is very, very well-built, I
would recommend taking a look at these.
So, of course, the biggest thing to talk about with the construction of these headers is
the fact that these are long tubes.
So these runners here are along with what gets to the collector, then with a factory
system, or, of course with a shorty header system.
And what that is designed to do is really uncork things, create the maximum exhaust
velocity.
Just really make things as efficient as possible as the engine's trying to breathe out, which
can actually help it to breathe in a little bit better as well.
And when you're shoving boost into the intake side of the engine, having it breathe out
is very, very important.
So, this is going to work very, very well with a RIPP supercharger.
That's really what these are designed for.
But, of course, if you wanted to run them without a supercharger, you can do that as
well.
As for the construction, you're gonna have some laser-cut flanges.
Again, this is all T304 stainless, a very high grade of stainless.
You're not going to end up with any sort of surface oxidation, let alone any kind of rust
like you would get with a mild steel or aluminized system.
You're not gonna have to worry about any of that.
These are all ball sockets here, which makes installation very easy.
It does come with two catalytic converters, just like your factory system would have.
All of your factory O2 sensors are gonna work in all of the bungs that are already welded
into the system.
All of your factory heat shields work.
This is a very well-designed system that is designed to bolt right into your Jeep.
So, again, for installation I'm gonna give this a two out of three wrenches, an easy
two out of three.
Some of these bolts are a little bit difficult to get to, but still, no major modification
of the Jeep necessary.
All you have to do is remove those factory headers, and install these ones.
You're gonna do that by uncoupling the headers from the rest of the exhaust system.
You're going to have to get up in there, and remove all of the bolts that hold the headers
onto the engine.
Disconnect any of the piping wherever you can to make the system as small as possible,
making it as easy as possible to drop everything out of the way.
Once the entire system is removed, you can go ahead and install your new headers, and
bolt everything back together.
These headers are gonna run you $1,600, and that is gonna be a lot of money.
If you're looking at things from a horsepower-to-dollar ratio standpoint, whether these are worth
it or not is completely up to you, what you're looking to get out of your Jeep, and how are
you looking to do your build.
That aside, if you are just looking for a quality set of long tube headers, I think
these are very, very well-built, and incredibly high quality.
And they're gonna do everything that they're designed to do.
