Youtube daily Aug 8 2018

Hey, so the Google home is probably one of my favorite google assistant devices and really it becomes like the centerpiece

And really for me I can say hey gee and it'll pick me up anywhere really in my house

And with the speakers are loud enough that I could hear it anywhere in the house, but it does have this cord

Let's make smart home tech simple to enjoy and don't forget to hit that subscribe button and the little notification bell next to it

So you don't miss that next video?

Hey, welcome to the gross tech show

My name is Josh and I want to welcome you to our show if this is the first time that you're here

make sure you hit the subscribe button in the notification bell icon as well as

Comment below because we always read every single comment down there and we want to have an interaction with our community

But today we're going to look at making the Google home portable by using this

It's called the loft

it is a portable battery base station that

Replaces the little gray or whatever color mesh that you have on your Google homes

So, let me just open it up real quick. Hey, so here it is. This is what the base looks like

it has a black mesh that will go around speakers and then

the battery basically at the bottom inside it hooks up just like your normal base does with the two magnets and this time the

power adapter is fixed so you don't have to worry about trying to fit it in there and plug something in and then you just

Use your original Google home power adapter at the bottom. So it's literally very simple and easy to install

Now what is really awesome is love says that it will go for eight hours

but after testing I found that I've gotten nine hours of battery life with this with having it at

path for about five

volume streaming of radio stations

so you're doing Wi-Fi streaming sound is pretty half way all the way there and

I got nine hours out of this battery, which is really fantastic

so as you can see, it's

muted

And we're on no cable. No nothing. It's pretty awesome. We have our battery indicator lights down here. There's four

All four is 100% down to zero still sounds amazing still is working

Amazingly and you can still use it like normal

you can still plug this in and just have it sitting and you're live here and more where ever to be a

Normal Google home, but you can also just unplug it and you don't have to turn it on or anything

You just unplug and it stays turned on so you don't have to deal with having to reconnect every single time and with a nine

Eight to nine hour battery life. This thing is amazing

Hey well

That's really all that I can say about it is nine hours is what I'm getting out of it eight is what they say

So eight to nine hours of continuous playtime with it running

I've been using it at half volume for nine hours straight

This thing is amazing and I leave it plugged in when I have it at home

And if I want to go grill

I bring this out and we have people over and have this going and the nice thing is you have the

portable batteries for the Google home mini but the speaker's

Let's be honest. They're not that great

But with the Google home

You get pretty good sounding speakers and now you can do portability with it

And this is a no-brainer. I'm sorry. This is a no-brainer for anybody that has a Google home

The link is down in the description that will take you to Amazon and get you the right prices, but honestly

Versus buying multiple power adapters and having one in the shed one in your garage

One somewhere out in by your patio

this is definitely hands-down better and cheaper and

Like I said, it's a better option. It's a no-brainer to me

So make sure you click it down below. Make sure you get one if you have a Google home. Hey guys

Well, that is the end of the episode

Thank you so much for watching and really aside from anything

This thing is amazing 9 hours of battery life on half volume

streaming a radio station

radio

radio, but that's amazing you literally I

Can't get over how cheap this is and how amazing it works

I literally bought this to kind of say this would be cool

But the battery life is horrible is what I was thinking but having 8 to 9 hours of continuous playtime

Hands bound worth I mean as cheap as it is it's worth every penny by far

So make sure you hit the link down in the description below

But hey, if you've got a Google home, would you like it to be portable?

If you've got a mini

Would you like it to be portable if you've got an echo dot and that go show and well?

There you go an echo show. Would you like an echo shoe to be portable?

Anyways, thanks again for watching. My name is Josh and this has been the gross tech show

God bless you guys, and I'll see you in the next episode. Good. Bye

Digital Analytics Minidegree Program | Google Analytics Certification Training - Duration: 3:46.

My name is Chris Mercer and if you think numbers are your thing

consider the digital analytics mini degree. It is an absolutely fantastic

program. It's eight total weeks and it's self-guided. You're going to learn about

telling stories with your data. Right? It's not just the data that matters it's

being able to get that data into actions and the way to do that is by telling

stories and making sure that your stakeholders understand why that data is

important. We're gonna be focusing on the Google universe. Using the tools that

Google has placed out there for all of us to use. Including tools like Google

Analytics for storing information and analyzing information. Using Google tag

manager to actually track and measure all the different specific behaviors

that are happening on websites all the way through the point of using tools

like Google Data studio for visualization. So you're gonna have

everything from beginning to end planning out, what's important to

actually measure, learning how to actually build out your implementation

so that you get the right behaviors measured, and then learning how to

visualize those in meaningful reports so you can actually take action whether

it's for yourself or for your clients. And every week you and I will have a

call where we'll be going over your questions. We'll be able to talk about

the different updates to the different platforms that have come out where

you're going to be able to get one-on-one personalized help. So of

course it is in a group setting, but those calls those office hours, sort

of facilitation calls, are gonna be there each and every week. There's gonna be

homework assignments to help you keep guided and focused along the way, not to

mention you've got that certificate at the end. So you might be thinking to

yourself, "what exactly is covered in this self-paced eight-week minidegree program"?

Glad you asked. Well we're gonna start with the basics of digital

analytics. What's important to measure. Why it's important to be measured.

Things like vanity metrics that sort of thing. So you'll have a really good foundation overall

around digital analytics. Then we're gonna be very quickly moving to the

actual tools where we're gonna be starting with Google Analytics and it'll

start with the basics. So if you're a beginner if you've never used Google

Analytics before those will be perfect for you you'll be able to jump into

Google Analytics and learn the basics. If you do have some experience with Google

Analytics, not a problem we've got a couple of other levels of Google

Analytics that come right on top of that first foundational level. So you've got a

Google Analytics 201 and a Google Analytics 301 with a lot more of

advanced information that's passed through as well so no matter what your

level is on Google Analytics you were bound to learn at least a thing or two.

Of course we'll be talking about tag manager and we'll have multiple levels

of tag manager as well so if you're just starting out with Google Tag Manager or

if you've never used it before there's the Google Tag Manager beginners of

course so there's a 101 level, there's a 201 level, and also a 301 level so you'll be

going through all three of those and they are taught by various instructors,

including one of them being myself. We'll be talking about Google Attribution,

Google Data Studio and going through actually building reports with Google

Data Studio. We'll be talking about integrating Google Analytics with Google

Sheets and you'll be understanding how to do that and building your reporting

using spreadsheets as well. There's also a series Excel for marketers with the

prefer using Excel or your company uses Excel that's gonna be a perfect one for

you to really take advantage of and then of course going through and actually the

process of analyzing and building strategy. Not to mention the future of

analytics. Where is this whole thing going, where do we think it's coming down

you know five ten years out so that you understand exactly what's going on with

this industry and you can prepare your own career for those changes. So there is

absolutely a ton that is in this particular course. Now you can see all

the details on this particular page. If you have other questions go ahead and

hit the chat box and ask the team they'll be able to help you out as well.

The next Digital Analytics Minidegree class starts soon. So ,if you are

interested now is the time to go ahead and take action and I look forward to

seeing you on our first call take care.

Two Research Vessels Leave for the Twilight Zone - Duration: 1:53.

Phytoplankton…tiny, mostly single-celled organisms

that live in the oceans, creating energy for our ocean's ecosystems.

They're eaten by zooplankton, slightly larger organisms

that make a daily trek from the ocean's sunny upper layer to its pitch-black depths.

In this cycle, they drift through an important region,

a dimly lit middle ground between light and shadow…an area scientists call

the twilight zone.

Enter the Export Processes in the Ocean from RemoTe Sensing, or EXPORTS project

– a team of more than 150 scientists…from 29 different institutions…

onboard two research vessels with a fleet of autonomous vehicles…

traveling west from Seattle to study these phytoplankton.

The team, made up of researchers from NASA, the National Science Foundation, including

the University of California- Santa Barbara, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute

and other university and agency partners, will deploy robotic explorers

and instruments from the two ships to study the diversity of plankton in the ocean.

The ocean absorbs approximately 1/2

of the carbon dioxide from Earth's atmosphere. Like plants on land,

phytoplankton take in this carbon and release oxygen. Their blooms can

even be seen in images taken from space. As the phytoplankton die

or are eaten by zooplankton, that consumed carbon is exported into the

twilight zone and stored there. Understanding the diversity

and makeup of plankton in the ocean can help scientists understand the role the ocean plays

in consuming, and sequestering, carbon from the atmosphere.

In turn, understanding this can give insight into the

ocean's carbon cycle and how it helps regulate our home planet's changing climate.

Applied Digital Skills If Then Adventure Stories Curriculum English Subtitles Translations - Duration: 24:13.

okay I wanted to show you guys this I think it was maybe back in May

April May time frame they had to grow with Google in your city and they did

the applied digital skills and so you go to applied digital skills dot with

google.com so I wanted to show you guys some of this I think I did one of the

courses already and so I just wanted to show you some of the curriculum and

things that you can learn here if you just want to learn and refresh your I'll

get access to engaging ready to use videos okay so here and so here let's go

to for students well that's not the right one oh the curriculum that's what

I wanted the curriculum the curriculum did it go yes it looked at that time

okay now this is the first one it's the if then adventurous stories and so

everything that you'll do is like is you're going to be using Google

Documents and slides you're gonna be using your Drive actually because I have

done some of these I think it was on another one I don't have all my computer

equipment or I would just go through it with you guys and screen recorder or

have a camera sitting on me but I'm limited to what I have and so I'm just

gonna click on View right here and then give you an idea so this says if then

adventure stories and it says collaborate with classmates to create an

interactive story using Google slides and so you're going to be creating a

story I was thinking when I was a kid we created stories to come to think of it

we created stories on paper paper and pencil and so it's suitable for middle

and high school skills covered digital collaboration presentation formatting

slides hyperlinks Docs slides and so I would just ignore that you know

that middle in high school because the thing is if you want to become a

familiar with doing something on the computer and you're not really familiar

with it go ahead and do it and just ignore the middle and high school part

of it because the thing is I kind of have a feeling that my college degree is

probably was probably was probably more for grade school it's it was probably

for grade school I think it was and so that's why I was told you guys ignore

that part you know so I mean it just says so the thing is what it means is

it's gonna be pretty easy for adults to figure out but the funny part if you

think about it is that they they're putting grade school in high school

equivalent degrees into colleges and you know adults are repeating things that

are for grades he's school say I mean going into deep

deep debt that's the part that ain't funny but if you want to learn about it

you know go right on ahead and you know here let's go to Google Apps overview

this this is kind of fun and so the thing is with all this you

get to learn it for free so you'll have a video here talking about all the apps

you'll watch the video let's see when next goes and then a Google pre apps

survey well I wanted to see if there was any coursework that we could look at if

then adventure stories introduction is that the one introduction to group

decision-making that's the same thing I did when I did multimedia marketing

that's the same thing I did because we had kind of a group decision making

thing that was really it was kind of strange I remember doing it we really

had no guidance from the teacher anything we were just kind of left to

figure it out for ourselves

that was like brainstorm story elements we did that we did that too yeah and oh

that's funny so there

this kind of looks like Mike and then the wrap up the wrap up yes the ramped

up there and so that would that's kind of what it looks like so you'll listen

to this guy and then you'll go into I think I'm probably gonna get sent to a

no introduction to if/then adventure stories rainforest adventure and so it

takes you through all these slides oh let's read the instructions that

would help instructions select one person in your group to open Google

Drive and create a new presentation name the presentation tations share it with

your group then open the presentation from your Google Drive and I have got

something to tell you guys you know okay this is basically this is the same thing

we did in college so some of the the applied digital skills is familiar the

only difference is that we had like a college intranet that's where our stuff

was that was on a college intranet so we basically did the same thing and so so

yeah so the schools I don't know if they have their own storage or not I don't

know that a lot of public schools have their own intranet or not they probably

have to use something that would be government based since public schools

are a are you know they're all their government's so they would be on a

government drive of some sort you know an intranet you know so that's the thing

that's supposed to be blocked away from the public you know so not everybody can

get into it or access it and so yeah yeah a lot of this it looks familiar and

actually if I even think back to grade school its kind of the it's the same

principles of things that you know the story learning and stuff like that that

we're doing in high school not and that's what's that's so funny when you

think about it you know some of the things that I got c's and d's in

I mean we had bad teachers teachers who really didn't yeah that's like they they

just were not very good teachers at all you know so yeah

if then applied digital skills yeah that's that that's really interesting

but but the thing I'll say is it does help you know so if you're someone who

is new to the Internet go ahead and do it you know because it's

going to teach you some things about how to use computers and stuff like that and

and the thing is that's like I like the larger computers myself I like the

desktop because it's easier to see but apparently

item someone had I read something somewhere and someone had said that that

because kids just started bringing their own devices to school they just decided

that well I guess they didn't have to invest any further in anything more and

you know so yeah I mean it just seems like such a it's still all censored

let's put it that way everything is still all censored the public you know

it's kind of stuck let's put it that way it's stuck the dark ages and and so yeah

so things are still censored and yeah that's how my ear itches so that's all

I'm gonna say right now about that I really don't know what else to say but

please subscribe and like my video and oh did you see what happened Alex Jones

got terminated from just about every place on the internet but Twitter which

which that's the funny part I shouldn't say it's funny that's just a

word that I use that's the whole part is that it shows that it's showing is that

the traditional platform has censored is is censoring has censored for since it's

been around and that's basically what it's showing with him being censored

it's kind of like us I don't know if we're at the full circle or the half

circle but when a lot of us had started out on YouTube twelve years ago there

was people from film school that were teaching bad practices now the thing is

I didn't put that much thought into it back then you know all I wanted to know

was how things were working I knew there was some people who had like the name

the word film in there in their identities and things like that and they

said there were some students that had gone to film school and but it didn't

make any sense to me but but then like in the past three or four years I

started thinking like well why are they still using the word filled because

everything is a digital and then I started kind of thinking back and it's

like well everything is digital it's all digital it's been digital for a long

time why are they still using the word film

and and so but then and then I was even aware well it sounds like that maybe

some schools I because some people had been reporting in the forums at one

point that there were people who were like paid to take down YouTube channels

or that's what it sounded like but then it got me thinking though that like okay

for example if you have a network of kids you know that are in a school and

then the teachers are teaching the kids to ban certain YouTube channels then

that that that's actually attacking someone's livelihood that's how they

make their living and and so that's the thing I think that that some people knew

it was going on for quite some time and I kind of had a good idea you know what

was happening but I never thought of it as being a crime you know well until it

actually happens to me and so I I've lost my channel like two at least two

times I know for sure maybe there was a third one but I was more than one

channel but then over time my revenue start

going down - and so when I was first on YouTube like I wasn't cursing that much

or anything like that I didn't curse hardly at all you know

cuz I was trying to be sensitive to other people's feelings cuz that's just

how things were you know it was like I was just trying to I was self censoring

on purpose you know because like that's just how we were taught was to

self-censor I know why now and and so but but then I started looking at things

differently when I started losing my revenue and then it's like well why is

this happening because I couldn't figure out what was you know what was going

wrong wrong and then I started kind of thinking about these things it's like

well wait a minute Google is a search engine and then Google could surface

anti diversity and so and then I was thinking about like oh gosh this was

like when President Obama was in office I mean I was I supported him but I

actually felt like I was attacked by some troll people for supporting

President Obama and and there was times that I actually left the internet like I

was just so it it's you oh it's that psychological warfare thing and I think

there was military people being used and that's a part that's sick most of all is

to think that the people from our own government are there attacking you and

you know like you're not kind of of a mindset that they are you know because

they've been through training they've been through the psychological warfare

and all that stuff before it and that's part of their training but yet I haven't

you know and there's a lot of people like me who haven't and it's like you

know and then they just said well you need to grow a spine blah blah you know

it's in the psyche well you know okay so I'm sensitive and so if there's a lot of

people like me then like do we all have to be sensitive or you know I mean do we

all have to be assholes and so that's kind of like where we're at right now

with all this Trump thing you know because it's kind of like you know and I

realize everything is really what's with Trump is really

to freedom of speech you know because he's pulled it down he's taking the

whole country into the toilet actually it it's kind of funny in in a sense you

know there's at one time I used to was thinking that he was racist and I don't

feel that way anymore you know I just feel like he's he's just

saying things because I think he's representative of a counterintelligence

I don't know that he's he just says words that are popular and I don't know

if that's just because he's been part of the traditional media industry or if

he's actually a real counterintelligence which he might be you know where he

might be part of one of the USA agencies I don't know but I'm just speculating

and I have a right to do that and and I actually feel like that's why I fight

with Sarah Sanders I kind of see Sarah Sanders and myself or myself and Sarah

Sanders as being attacked and you know just feeling really really bad because I

stood for something and then people attacked me and then just said mean

things and I didn't know where it was coming from or what it was you know and

that's great that other people from government intelligence have been

through training and had training and know what all that stuff is but I never

did I had to kind of figure it out for myself and so but I ended up losing my

revenue for some reason and then someone had revealed that schools were getting

kids to do it to our channels and stuff like that so networks of people were

being hired and and I'm thinking well if you think about it you know some

teachers who are like in the public school system they're paid for with

taxpayer money so they are hired and then they're using the kids to to demote

our channels which demotes them into the down in the search algorithm because

they just don't like them or for some reason or another and and so there is a

problem with that I'm kind of leaning towards that because right now none of

us can upload on to traditional media cable boxes none of us can upload on any

of that and and one of the things is like and I don't I'm not sure about

Apple but see Apple I've never I don't even have my a device for Apple right

now but I've never been able to figure out how to get on to Apple anyway so

that seems exclusive the only - I can get an earth no one - there's more than

- I can get on I can get on Twitter Facebook at YouTube and Google easy

they're all easy and I'm sure there's more than that there's other ones that

I'm not that fond of that I don't want to use and I'm really tired of people

telling me just to start over start over that gets old it's like I don't want to

just start over I just want to be where I'm at and I want to keep it going good

I don't want to have to start over with a new word but see what they're doing is

they're just taking the one word and I don't know why they did that and they

just taking one word so it's like they have a focus a focal point on just one

word I need to see where I'm at I'm in 18 minutes and so when I say one word

that's like when you take the words black and white us as a nation because

of our very poor education we took these words literally instead of contextually

and when I and putting critical thinking into it and so when I say that is taking

them literally it's like look at my lights over there they're black and

they're white that that's the color of them and my walls are you know white so

but we don't think of it in terms of them just being something to pad the

search the digital trends and that's all they are that's all they are as words to

pad the digital trends and and and so but there's people who take them

literally and I know I was guilty of it - well no or was I I wasn't until it was

like brought to my attention through some of the rhetoric and stuff like that

I didn't even put any thought into it you know because the thing is you know

if you think of anti diversity and discrimination women have been

discriminated our my whole life and and before that so it's not just you know

and so when people say something is white or black and you know the very

most of America has had anti diversity in one form or another it's not just a

color but the truth is these colors are simply words for the search algorithm

it's not about people specifically and so but there's some some really

emotionally I charged up things that happen that are so uncomfortable it's

like I can't stand it you know it's it's just really really uncomfortable and see

older people still don't understand the digital trends and that and that's why

we are where we are today when I brought up Alex Jones and the thing is he's been

censored and I don't know I don't know actually which side he's on I'm kind of

thinking he might come from the traditional I'm pretty sure he comes

from the traditional media side and he might be that person who plays the other

side you know where you have you have people who are on both sides who are for

and against it's it's intelligence and counterintelligence is what it's called

you know they you know the USA has intelligence and counterintelligence and

so apparently the media has something like that too or they're they have

people who call in and they're for and against something but how many of us

would have ever known that we wouldn't have known that and so these are just

things I've kind of had to figure out on my own and it may be with some videos

and interest based type things being put in strategic locations and just when I

say it strategic that's just because it's something that I'm interested in

and that's where the that's where the cookies play a role because it's

something I'm interested in and so yeah and it seems so ridiculous in hindsight

to be you know it's like because the other people were trained and the

majority of us were not trained and so it seems so unfair even when you think

about it that I lost my revenue I feel like because of because I was

intentionally targeted yeah but now we're at a place where I think that the

other side who did the attacking that they have lost their channel or they've

lost their voice let's put it that way they've lost their voice you know I mean

and the thing is I always thought Alex Jones was kind of funny but somebody has

to be sponsoring in though when those channels get millions and millions of

subscribers like that somebody has to be sponsoring them because that's how it

works and and that's what you know ever since

ad pocalypse that's what a lot of people have been upset about because our

revenue and our views have been going down and tanking and so the thing is is

the traditional medium is investing in words not not content creators not

content or content creators they're just investing in words which inflates their

which inflates their cost let's put it that way so like for example like today

the Department of Defense came up with Purple Heart Day they're sponsoring

Purple Heart Day and so you know all purple hearts then are gonna be on

Twitter you know I don't and you know anywhere whoever makes a Purple Heart is

going to get some views because hearts are popular and so that that's actually

a good example Purple Heart you know cuz all digital trends go together in the

collective bucket of words you know so it's not just from TV it's not just the

internet you know it's like all them satellite communication

radio communications anything that's picked up digital digitally any

communication from anybody who uses some sort of radio or something like that is

being picked up and and so you know so so and then I've kind of thought that

sometimes I think that the government one that's like the government is a

network of people in it of itself and and they have benefits and so I was and

so that kind of leads me to the point of like so how does that that could

actually skew voting as well because typically in the past government

employees tend to vote for ways that benefit them and so if they thought they

were gonna lose health care and and that has that is rhetoric that's been used on

the soldiers in the past before us because my ex-husband used to say that

all the time he'd be like well they said we're gonna lose health care and we're

gonna lose this and that and so it sounded like they had a tendency to lean

towards Republican when they voted and it's like well why should we be paying

for this stuff if they're innocent scent of ice to vote that way let's take it

all away so it's equal for everyone and then let's see how they vote because

there's they're the government employees are some of the more active people who

are engaged with stuff and so I thought let's take it all the way I mean I can

put on my conservative hat and say well that'll save the taxpayers money you

know I mean I've heard this from both sides I mean I like the idea of progress

but I can be put back in the conservative side too I can play both

sides of the fiddle as far as that goes but it's like I'm for everybody having

things and it being equal now the corporations are the ones who are

fucking everyone over and creating poverty so yeah okay that's
