I bear witness there's no one worthy of worship except Allah. Our Sustainer, our Creator, our Cherisher
The one who has created us for a short
appointed time and what sent us in this world with purpose and
that after that time is up We'll all return to Allah SWT. He's our master. He's a creator
He's a lord of the universe everything we see and we cannot see belong to Allah
La Sharika Lat. There is no partners. We do not associate partners to Him
There's no one who deserves our praise, our thanks, our appreciation, our
devotion, our prayer, our worship
Like Allah SWT. Our Creator, our Master
Allah SWT says
In the Quran:
That if you are grateful to me, if you appreciate my favors, my blessings, I will increase you. I'll grant you increase.
And today, I just wanted to talk briefly about
This important aspect of how to be grateful to Allah SWT, who Allah is and
Knowing who Allah SWT and appreciating the One who appreciates us
One of the things about Allah, one of the beautiful names of Allah SWT is Ash Shakur
Someone who is
Constantly
Appreciating
Someone who constantly appreciates the things we do for Allah SWT
That we thank Allah and we praise Allah, but Allah SWT is someone...It's not like "Oh
Yeah, you were supposed to do that anyways". Allah doesn't do that to us. Allah SWT appreciates everything we do for Him
To the point that someone say "Subhanallah", "Al Hamdulillah"
"Wala Ilaha Illalah", "Allahu Akbar", very simple, very simple.
very simple, very simple. Doesn't take a lot.
You're lying you're lying down and you're sleeping or you're about to go to sleep.
You're you're walking. You're in the car you're driving
And you're just remembering Allah
You just saying SubhanAllah
And the scholar said that Mufasireen said that when Allah says in the Quran:
There are keys, Allah has given you the keys to the heavens in the earth
And one of those keys to the heavens is these four phrases.
To just say SubhanAllah and just say Al Hamdullilah
Just say La Ilaha illAllah
Or just say Allahu Akbar
that Allah SWT opened the doors of the heavens just for you to be able to utter these words
Just for you to be able to utter these words Allah's doors open up
and Allah's "Rahma" blessings come down.
To the point that you say Allah's name once "Allah" or "Ya Allah"
Or you make one Dua to Allah SWT, He will respond to you, and He'll definitely respond to you.
He will definitely. Allah says, Allah has promised
You ask me and I will definitely respond to you
Allah will definitely respond to us. If we call our moms people that we love the most
You know our spouses, our parents, our spouses, our children and we love them and we sacrifice for them
and we do things for them and we dedicate our entire life for them, and you call them and you say "Mom" and
Says "Yes son", and the mother, of course, has a special love, and this is a special bond that Allah has created
And you ask and you call again and says "Yeah" and you say "Mom"
and like "What?!" and you call four times and like "Ok forget it?"
After the fourth times she's not going to even response to you anymore. Like "You're wasting my time"
But guess who appreciates you calling him over and over and over. And you call Him "Allah Allah Allah Allah"
And you call Him hundred times
And you call Allah SWT. Each time He'll respond to you
Each dua He promise that He'll accept from you. Of course, there are different ways that you'll respond to you.
You know just like a just like a child
Who has a sore throat and she wants ice cream?
And as a parent we want to give her what we think is best for her that
So Allah SWT knows what is behind us, and what is ahead of us. Allah knows us more than we know ourselves
Allah SWT knows us more than we know ourselves, so Allah knows what is beneficial for us
What is good for us
and what is bad for us. So Allah SWT sometimes whatever we ask Allah gives it up the right away and
Some things we ask Allah holds on
This is how the Prophet pbuh has explained
Said that everything you asked, made dua for Allah will respond. Allah will give it to you. Every dua is granted.
Your dua is granted as long as you say that "I made dua and I prayed and Allah didn't accept"
Unless you give up hope, there is always hope and is certainty that anytime you call upon Allah, Allah will respond to you.
So we need to talk to Allah guys even the young guys sometimes
You don't feel like a I'm feeling really lazy to get up and do this or do that
If there's nothing else you can do before you take next step. Just talk to a lot in whatever position or condition you are in.
You're just lying down or maybe you're always hanging out with a bunch of your friends.
And maybe you know that you need to maybe do something that you might have to move away from that environment.
Or maybe there's something going on that you don't feel good about
Or maybe you don't have the strength to take the next step to get closer to Allah
Before you can have the strength for that step. Just talk to Allah SWT in your language just say "Allah"
"My Creator, My Master, My God. Help me."
"Guide me, bless me, protect me". Keep saying it over and over and over and over again and guess what?
When you go to a generous person's house, and you knock on their doors
and you knock once and you ask for something twice and three times and
the chances are that a certain point the person even if he is not generous has to atleast open the door
Allah SWT is waiting to give us. Allah SWT is waiting to appreciate us. Ash Shakur, the one who constantly appreciates.
Someone who constantly appreciates to the point that
Think about this this way, that you go
And you treat your friend. You go to school or we go to work and we treat a colleague or a treat a friend
Lunch one day, and we say "Hey, you know what I really like you. I want to treat you for lunch."
"Let me take you out somewhere", and you caught a really fancy restaurant
And you feed him lunch and you pay for it and say
"I really really appreciate you I mean I think you're a really good friend, and I wanted to show that"
"By treating you something treating you with lunch"
And that person feels so appreciative and says "You know what"
"I appreciate this so much that you love me and you appreciate me"
"And you've treated me that I'm going to also treat your lunch one day"
Okay, that's fair right
That's what normally happens when you do something good. Hopefully the other person normally
Would does something good back to you.
But what if that person says because you sent lunch to me from now until I die
I'm going to treat you lunch every week or I'm going to treat you lunch every day or because you bought food to me
I'm gonna send you some food every day
You will be like "Man, that's impossible. That's pretty weird. Are you sure?"
And this is how Allah SWT is
You say "La Illaha IllAllah" for a moment's time
you said "La Illaha IllAllah" moments time, that a person will be raised on the day of judgment and
99 registers of
bad deeds sins will be exposed and it will all be put on one side of the scale and
That person is going to think that he doesn't have any chance
I've committed all these wrongs have no chance and until
one time from his heart and sincerely said "La Illaha IllAllah" and
That will be put on the other side of the scale and that will outweigh everything he has done
That once, one convict, one sincere saying of Allah's name and utterance of those words
Allah SWT will forgive. The Prophet pbuh told this hadith
That whoever says "La illaha illAllah" Allah will forgive them. Abu Huraira said "Oh Prophet of Allah, even if he steals?"
"Even if he lies?"
"Even if he fornicates?"
"Would Allah even forgive those sins?"
And the Prophet was quite and Abu Huraira just kept going after the Prophet. Saying "The Prophet, even if he does these?"
The Propeht pbuh was quiet. And he kept asking this thing and the Prophet pbuh said "Even if he lies,"
"Even if he steals,"
"Even if even if he fornicates, even if he has those slips and even if Abu Huraira doesn't like it"
Prophet pbuh said "Even if Abu Huraira doesn't like it"
Allah SWT is someone that will appreciate. Allah SWT is someone that His doors are open.
You make me make a mistake and you are able to return to Him. You say, "La illaha illAllah". You say "Astagfirullah"
You come back to Allah whose doors are always open for you, and He's constantly appreciative for that one sentence
Can you imagine someone who said eighty years old then it happens that their stories?
someone who has done whatever they have done and
Right before their death they understood who Allah was and they said sincerely "La illaha illAllah"
They passed and because of that Allah will
Constantly appreciate meaning Allah will appreciate that person for infinite time
Forever, in the Hereafter. Allah will appreciate that person for that one deed. Can you imagine that?
It's unbelievable in this world they do one
Good deed to someone
And that person says "I'm gonna give you this favor back constantly every day for the rest of your life".
Doesn't it make any sense?
But it makes sense when it comes to Allah. Ash Shakoor, someone who is Ash Shakoor, someone who constantly appreciates
Al Kareem, someone who gives even though I don't deserve it.
Someone who gives us even though we don't deserve it
We don't deserve it but Allah still gives, Allah still gives, Allah still gives.
This is what Allah SWT is. This is how generous He is.
Today we're so fascinated with so many things around us
We are not fascinated by what Allah SWT is because we don't know who our Creator is, we don't know how much He loves us.
How much He appreciates us?
That He created us and He
Told us that "The best amongst you are those who are best to My creation".
"The most beloved to you those who are most"
"Beneficial to My Creation"
Prophet pbuh said "Allah will continue to benefit you as long as you continue to benefit"
"your fellow human beings."
Fellow human beings, your fellow Muslims, your fellow brothers and sisters. As long as you benefit them Allah will continue to benefit you
As long as you benefit them, Allah will continue to benefit you because Allah
Loves that you are kind and generous to His creation
Allah loves His Creation
Forget about me and you brothers and sisters. Allah loves a dog that was given water because of that Allah forgave a
Prostitute and Allah forgive her sins.
An ant
The darkest of the dark, under layers of rocks that that walks, Allah even feeds that ant.
Allah SWT is our Master, our Sustainer.
Everything is in control in Allah SWT. Ash Shakoor, someone who appreciates us. Do we appreciate Him?
Do you want to thank someone?
Do we want to thank someone who appreciates us so much? Who loves us so much? Once you give us more
Who has no benefit in taking things away from me that in
the Prophet pbuh
The Prophet SWT would recite this verse and the whole night he would be
Crying and crying. And he would say "Allah"
"If you give them Ad'daab, if you punish them, if you punish my ummah, if you punish your slaves"
"They're Your slaves, Your creation."
"If you punish them?"
"They're Your creation and if you forgive them Allah"
"You are the most generous and majestic, the wise"
Allah's treasures, Allah's greatness doesn't increase by punishing us, by withholding from us and Allah's treasures
And Allah's greatness doesn't diminish
By giving us
By increasing our blessings
So Allah SWT, Ash Shakoor. When the Prophet's feet would get swollen and Aisha RA would ask "Oh Prophet of Allah."
"Didn't Allah already forgive your sins, your past, your future."
"Why do you make so much effort you could just take some rest?"
"Why do you do this yourself?" The Prophet pbuh said that "Shouldn't I be a grateful servant."
"If Allah did that, if truly Allah SWT did that to me, if I really forgive all my sins."
"My past sins, my future sins. If Allah give me that big of a blessing, shouldn't I be getting up and be thankful?"
to Allah SWT
Shouldn't I be thankful to Allah SWT?
so my dear brothers, respected elders, I recently went to a
Molecular biologist and expert in mindfulness. His seminar in SMU and was talking about
How in our body you know there are billions of neurons, billions of cells that are working properly
And he says that when we treat patient and he works at the Massachusetts General Hospital and one of their research is
how through mindfulness
how through mindfulness and prayer
healing pain through mindfulness
And they're talking about what percentage of the people actually get out of pain just by having that focus on that mindfulness
You know what like when I'm when I was listening to it of course
I was thinking about my faith thinking about the stories
You know, like Ali RA, his story about his praying salah and somebody taking out the arrow
and he said somebody asking when should I take this out and said when I said when I pray and
He was so focused in his salah
He was so connected to Allah SWT
in his salah and when somebody took it out he didn't even fill the pain
Anyways, there is real modern research now that are in about 35 countries
It's integrated with you know the mainstream medicine on how to treat people's pain and sickness
through mindfulness
And he says one of the things we tell patients is that if you are
Concerned and worried that one thing is not working. You know one of your organs are working some of your cells have issues
Then remember that there are few more billions that are actually still working
So if you have one thing wrong you have a billion things that are going
So if you think about it just that feeling and understanding and the power of the other few billions
Overpowering whatever problems you're having
By the will of Allah SWT, by being thankful to Allah, Allah will increase you.
So we have to always remember that whatever is wrong in my life
There are a billion other things that are going right and literally literally their billion of things that are going right in my own body
All around all around the universe and I have to be always thankful to Allah
Because He is Ash Shakur. He is the most appreciative if I say "Alhamdulillah"
He will increase me. So may Allah give us the Tawfiq, brothers and sisters.
To give us the ability to be thankful to Allah SWT, give us a grateful and thankful heart.
Forgive us for all the time we are complaining
I know that I have that that shortcoming the times that I'm complaining and there did a research on our brain
And they looked at the brain when you're complaining and what happens to your brain, and how it wears up
You know over time the more you complain the more you complain the more you complain
Your brain gets accustomed to a start complaining more and more until it's very difficult for you get out of it
or if you train your brain and the more you're being thankful to Allah you're grateful to Allah, and they scan the brain and
you're wearing your brain to purge the negative feelings and
Focus on the positive things in your life your training training training until the point that no matter what happens to life even bigger things
In life bigger issues bigger challenges in life you're able to get through them with thankfulness to Allah SWT
And they say that it is only 10% what happens and 90% how we respond right
only 10% what happens and 90% how we respond. Everybody in this life will have challenges and
Difficulties and sickness and problems, and we'll lose our loved ones
But there will be time my brothers that Alla SWT, you know when we are thankful to Allah
We ask Allah, Allah SWT will increase our blessing. Allah will make it easy for us. Allah SWT will guide us.
May Allah SWT give us all the Tawfiq. Ameen. May Allah forgive all our sins in sha Allah.
