Hey guys Its Sagar from Tecworkz.
In the last couple of months, we have compared the camera of the Moto G5 Plus with a lot
of other smartphones, and you guys still keep on asking me to compare it with a few more.
So in this video, we will be putting its camera up against that of the OnePlus 5.
Now I have also ordered the recently launched Moto G5S Plus which has a dual camera setup,
and we will be comparing that with the OnePlus 5 as well.
Until that one arrives let us take a look at this camera comparison.
Keep in mind, that the Moto G5 Plus now comes at Rs.15000, which means, it costs less than
half as much as the OnePlus 5, So it will be interesting to see if the dual cameras
on the OnePlus 5 are twice as good as that of the Moto G5 Plus.
Now before we get started, make sure to hit the subscribe button, so you don't miss out
on any of the amazing upcoming videos on this channel.
Let us quickly get the specifications out of the way.
Moto G5 Plus has a 12 megapixel rear camera with dual autofocus pixels, f/1.7 aperture,
Electronic stabilisation and Dual Led flash.
OnePlus 5 has a dual camera setup with phase detection autofocus on its back.
The wide camera is a 16 Megapixel sensor with F/1.7 Aperture and Electronic stabilisation.
While the telephoto camera has a 20 megapixel sensor with F/2.6 Aperture.
At front, the Moto G5 Plus has a 5 megapixel camera with f/2.2 aperture and the OnePlus
5 has mammoth a 16 megapixel camera with F/2.0 Aperture.
Both the phones offer manual controls for you to take better pictures.
But the OnePlus 5 also lets you take RAW images with the native camera app.
Camera on both these devices stick out of the back a bit, if this bothers you, just
slapping a case on it will solve this problem.
Now lets take a look at some of the images and videos that I took with these devices.
Both the cameras capture a lot of details in good lighting conditions.
The colours in the images taken with the G5 Plus, are a bit cooler in most of the shots.
The wide 16 megapixel sensor on the OnePlus 5 captures more detail in each shot, but the
performance of the Moto g5 plus is not too far behind.
Here are images without the HDR mode, and now the same images with the HDR mode turned
on.
Image from the Moto G5 Plus is more impressive, since it brings up a lot of details from the
shadows and also preserves the highlights in the sky.
Before we get to the close up shots, here is a quick comparison between the focusing
speeds on both these cameras.
OnePlus 5 latches on the focus very fast and we can barely notice it hunting for the focus,
where as the g5 plus is slower at focusing, and we can clearly see it searching for that
perfect focus.
The actual closeup shots from both the phones are amazing to look at, and the wide f/1.7
aperture blurs the background out ,quite nicely.
As we saw until now, the images from the OnePlus 5 are clearly better, but the Moto G5 Plus
is holding up very well in this competition.
Now OnePlus 5 has a second camera with a telephoto lens, thanks to which, you can take images
like these, without cropping in or any loss in quality.
Another feature that the dual lens offers, is the portrait mode.
The G5 Plus performed surprisingly better by itself in lower lighting conditions, but
the OnePlus 5 performs even better.
Wide aperture on the both the smartphones, help them capture more light in most of the
shots, but the details and the sharpness is better in the images from the OnePlus 5.
The 16 megapixel front facing camera on the OnePlus 5, captures a lot of details and better
dynamic range compared to the Moto G5 Plus, making it a better camera of the 2 for taking
selfies.
Coming to the video performance, there is more detail in the video from the OnePlus
5, it lacks optical image stabilisation, but the electronic stabilisation does a great
job, now even while shooting 4k videos.
Software stabilisation on the g5 plus also seems to be doing a good job.
To conclude, The camera of the OnePlus 5 is definitely better, but that doesn't mean
one on the Moto G5 Plus is not good, its performance is very close to that of the OnePlus 5, just
like we saw when we compared it with other flagship smartphones.
If camera is the main deciding factor for you, and you don't mind spending the extra
cash, then definitely go for the OnePlus 5.
But if your budget is low and you still want a smartphone with an amazing camera, then
you should go with the Moto G5 Plus.
It now comes at an even lower price, and is definitely the best camera on any smartphone
in under Rs.15000 right now.
Let me know in the comments section, which one of these two camera will you choose.
