Greetings, and welcome to Earthling Cinema.
I am your host, Garyx Wormuloid.
This week's artifact is Up, the film that mandated the Pixar rule that adults should
cry as much possible.
The film follows human boy, Carl Marx, whose dream is control the means of production so
he can go to Paradise Falls, New Jersey, just like his hero, Vladimir Lenin.
One day a homeless girl named Ellie breaks his arm.
They naturally fall in love, and before you know it, she dies.
Like all great relationships.
Anyway, the neighborhood's getting gentrified, which doesn't sit right with Carl, who knows
a thing or two about sitting.
In fact, the thought of capitalism drives Carl so bonkers, he assaults Bob the Builder,
and with no other options, flees the country in a pitiful excuse for an escape pod.
Little does Carl know that a pre-diabetic cub scout has stowed away to earn his badge
for the mile high club.
Maybe it's those glasses, because Carl can't see they're heading into a tornado, or why
kids love cinnamon toast crunch.
They narrowly survive, and land right where they wanted to go, without having to ask for
directions once, Karen.
They go the rest of their journey on foot and take the house with them, since there's
no valet.
But not before befriending a talking horse and famous American actor, Kevin Bacon, who
who, legend has it,
was six degrees taller than everyone in Hollywood.
But not so fast and the furious 15.
A group of other angrier, more talkative horses all want a piece of Kevin's bacon.
Cause I mean, who doesn't?
Unable to get a selfie, they take Carl and the scout to their leader, because that's
what minions do best.
They're taken to a Blimpies where they learn the Pepsi Twist: Lenin has been in New Jersey
this whole time, trying cast Kevin in a snuff film.
Carl tells the boy scout not to be a narc, but his blood sugar spikes and he blabs.
They make a sweet escape, remembering that horses don't float.
But just like my ex wife, Lenin is two steps ahead and has lit the house on fire.
Kevin gets birdnapped, so Carl goes back to his original plan of--I guess, dying in the
wilderness after two days.
That is, until he finds an Amazon Nook, giving him the proper motivation to enter the third
act.
A battle royale ensues, but not without some warm-up stretching.
Always stretch.
Carl lets his house go to shit, and Lenin realizes he could have learned something from
Kevin Bacon: namely, how to get your foot loose.
Carl reunites Kevin with his bulimic children.
And back in the big city, which has probably been freaking out nonstop that someone was
able to just fly away using balloons, Carl gives the boyscout some worthless tin that's
at best, extremely heartwarming.
Up illustrates the dangers of being trapped by nostalgia, which wasn't cured until 2067
by Dr. Millie Bobby Brown.
When his F.W.B. dies, Carl metaphorically enshrines her in the house that they built
together.
He keeps everything exactly as it was to preserve her memory, and to keep her ghost happy.
Outside, the world may keep truckin, but Carl clings to the past, even though he may be
in the Matrix.
The house itself symbolizes Carl's grief, which he has to carry with him until the housing
market improves.
Lenin is in many ways Carl's foxier counterpart.
Like Carl's condo, Lenin's airship is a museum of artifacts from better times, like
the Jurassic age, and his mission of redemption parallels Carl's journey.
But just as Carl can't bring his wife back no matter how many houses he knocks up, Lenin
can't bring back the glory days through sniping the snipe.
In fact, a snipe hunt is a colloquial term for a wild grey goose chase wherein a naive
person is fooled into chasing after something that doesn't exist...like love.
Up sends a poignant message about coping with grief in a healthy, gluten-free way.
At first, Carl cares about nothing besides his super dead wife.
But as he develops affection for the scout and Kevin Bacon, he develops a new, selfless
purpose that helps him move on.
To save the day, Carl must divest himself of the past by littering.
When Carl passes on the badge that Ellie gave him as a child, we realize her memory has
transformed from a burden around his neck to something positive that he can share.
Once hobbled by grief, the new Carl abandons his walker and can once again move freely
through the world, proving once and for all Western medicine was a lie.
The film posits that instead of bold adventures, the best pursuits are the simple pleasures
of everyday life, like enjoying a cup of Joe on the porch of your spaceship.
In the beginning, Russell claims he wants to explore unknown lands and claim them for
the Boy Scouts of America.
But his happiest moments are his memories about eating Dippin Dots with his deadbeat dad.
For all of Lenin's glorious exploits, he's more alone than Flargimom on Sector Five at
Christmas.
And while the childhood portion of Ellie's Adventure Book is full of dreams of Paradise
Falls, the mature Ellie filled the book with racey photographs of her life with Carl.
The moral is to enjoy the simple things, like the love and companionship of a friend. And
avoid the bad things, like kidnapping and trafficking a minor to South America.

BREAKING NEWS From Alabama Election!
They're Going To PRISON!
If there's one thing we learned about the presidential election last year, it's that
liberals will do whatever it takes to win.
We constantly heard incidents of voter fraud taking place, where Hillary's minions were
voting multiple times, and buses of people were being be transported into key swing counties
in order to throw the vote.
As Roy Moore still refuses to concede and has now filed a lawsuit into fraud that was
uncovered, now investigation into an Alabama state official has revealed something incredibly
disturbing, and now someone is on their way to prison.
Each election cycle we constantly see evidence of liberals cheating to win, and during the
Alabama State Senate race, all the signs were there.
In a shocking eleventh-hour order, the Alabama Supreme Court ruled that counties in Alabama
could destroy voting records in the Roy Moore-Doug Jones race, going against the longstanding
rule that these counties preserve the records and the integrity of the race.
Another sign of voter fraud came after the election, when several liberal morons bragged
that they had "come from all over the country to vote for Doug Jones.
But shockingly, that was only the beginning.
Alabama Secretary of State Nancy Worley turned herself in at the Montgomery County Jail Thursday
after a grand jury indicted her on election fraud, where she is now being charged with
5 felonies and 5 misdemeanors that will no doubt put her behind bars for a quite a long
time.
So 4 long years of stacking the deck against Republicans, which explains how a red state
like Alabama suddenly "turned blue" during the Jones-Moore race.
WSFA reports:
The indictment charges that Worley broke that law when she wrote a letter to her employees
with the words underlined saying, "I want to ask for your support and your vote in the
June 2006 Democratic Primary Election."
She went on to say she had always requested them not to discriminate against anyone because
of his or her politics, race, religion, social status, thus she says, "If you choose to
support another candidate you have every right to make that decision without any problems
from me."
Worley's attorney says that last statement means employees were not pressured into contributing
to her campaign but Packard sees it differently.
"Aside from it being illegal it just seems wrong for an elected official to request money
or other kinds of campaign support from their subordinates because of that employer – employee
relationship that could be coercive just by its very nature," he said.
He points to other items Worley sent the employees like a bumper sticker and an envelope to volunteer
or request a yard sign.
Packard says his complaint represents a number of workers who were reluctant to do anything
about it.
"I didn't have any reluctance to file a complaint because I believe it takes people
standing up and doing the right thing if we expect the right things to happen," he said.
The rules are blatantly clear.
But liberals don't care, as each election cycle they continue to break these rules in
order to keep themselves in power.
Worley is in currently in hiding, refusing to go on camera after being caught breaking
federal law.
She is facing a whopping 5 felony charges, and 5 misdemeanor charges.
Moore still is still refusing to concede the race, and is now in litigation to fight the
blatant voter fraud that cost him the election.

It's now gone on for two weeks since the Republican candidate Roy Moore found himself
on the receiving end of dirty politics.
This was brought on by his Democrat competitor and has flat-out refused to concede because
of it.
His determination to expose all that has been wrongfully done to him, including allegations
of sexual impropriety, seems to have paid off.
The special election to replace newly appointed Trump cabinet member Jeff Sessions took another
dark turn which could make Moore the winner once and for all.
Turnabout is fair play and Moore has just brought it on now at the end of his relentless
pursuit to exonerate himself from all the fraud and allegations used against him the
most controversial Senatorial election of our time.
It's pretty disturbing how liberals will not stop in their conquest to destroy this
country with their shady and illegal antics, and the Alabama State Senate race was a enormous
hit to the Republican Party.
Jones' victory will have significant consequences for Republicans on the national level, where
Democrats are now working towards capturing the last Senate seat up for grabs next year
in order to gain the majority in the Senate.

Jurgen Klopp hails "best Anfield reaction" after Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City
Jurgen Klopp hailed the improved Anfield atmosphere for helping Liverpool turn a one-goal deficit around to seal a 2-1 victory over Leicester City.
The Reds fell behind to a Jamie Vardy strike just two minutes into Saturday's end-of-year clash with the Foxes, leaving Klopp's side deflated.
But, largely buoyed by Leicester's lack of sportsmanship, the home support roused Liverpool to produce an impressive comeback after half-time.
Both goals came from the majestic Mohamed Salah, bringing the winger's tally to 23 goals in just 29 appearances this season.
And he deserved considerable plaudits when he was brought off on 82 minutes.
However, speaking after the first time the Reds had come from behind at the break to win since 2014, securing their longest unbeaten league run in his tenure, Klopp highlighted the positive effect of Anfield.
"This was a perfect game except for the situation for the first goal after two-and-a-half minutes," he said.
"This was the best reaction we ever showed.
The crowd was fantastic today.
"People are not that patient at Anfield but today was one of the best atmospheres we've had so far.
Klopp's "maximum satisfaction" was clear at the final whistle, as he fist-pumped at the roaring crowd, with his side ending 2017 with another three points.
Long has the atmosphere at Anfield served to drain the Reds' momentum, particularly when behind, but this was clearly the response the German was looking for heading into a busy three days.
"I loved how Anfield felt on Boxing Day.
The noise and the energy in those final 30 minutes was amazing," he wrote in his programme notes before the game.
"With kicking off at 3pm today, against an opponent who will bring their own spark and zest, I think we can have an even better feeling inside this wonderful place if we choose to make it happen.
"We will all be working hard to finish 2017 in the right way.
Though Liverpool made things difficult for themselves directly after kickoff on Saturday, their response against a tough, bitter opponent certainly deserves praise.
Klopp identifying Anfield's influence in the turnaround is fitting, and their backing must remain.
