LEGO City Mountain River Heist review 🌳 60175 - Duration: 13:23.
everybody this is the lego city mountain river heist set and it goes with the
2018 mountain police theme the whole set was designed with a very specific play
pattern in mind of kind of a timeline of events so as I go through this review I
will be able to explain that timeline to you so this is an armored transport van
with some very valuable cargo inside the the whole vehicle looks really good to
me from a distance but it's only when I get up close like this and look at it
carefully at the front that's the transition from this round to the the
sloped areas looks a little bit odd to me and there's also this gap at the
front of the fender but if you don't see that if you just kind of blur your eyes
a little bit or just step back a little bit I think it just it looks really good
I mean it's it's a pretty basic straight forward you know six wide modern city
build but I do like it I like the the rectangular window on the Left really
goes with the theme makes it look like it might even be a a reinforced window
it's just well chosen they have a single sticker on the back here which includes
the license plate and also the keypad to get into the back of this and the cargo
that it's transporting can be accessed by opening the doors it's actually a
pallet a whole pallet of gold ingots so all that can come out and yeah that's
that's gonna be pretty valuable so they've got just a little slide system
in there rather than having just a flatbed so this is very specifically
designed to carry just this you can get access to this pretty easily from the
top but it's not a lot of room in there you see there's some extra space you can
potentially mmm it's going to be a little bit difficult but probably fine
it would be better if there were some jumpers in there to be able to put an
additional figure or two back there to provide a little bit of extra security
you know some backup for the guy because the driver even though this is a 6 wide
vehicle him as usual driver is is alone he's
mounted in the center I think that's that's legitimate I think that that's
fine here it's very difficult to get two figures to sit side-by-side with these
types of windows and things so I have no problems with that I just think they
should have thought of something to allow you to put a second one back there
but then there's only one driver included we'll take a closer look at him
a little bit later on so this thing is just driving down the road on its normal
route and it's about to encounter this scene this is bad because that is a bad
guy a criminal with a chainsaw in his hand and he's at a tree so you know
what's gonna happen he's going to try to fill the tree to stop the truck
so he can rob it the tree can be felled it's just on a hinge you can move these
you know these basically leaf sections around to change how it falls and how it
looks a little bit but one funny thing is that nature is gonna have a little
bit of immediate revenge a little bit of Instant Karma because as he fells the
tree the idea is that this beehive this new piece for 2018 is going to fall on
his head now to make that work it to take his hair off and do that so it's
gonna fall on his head and yeah there you go instant Instant Karma that's good
but it doesn't do anything to undo the felling of the tree so the poor van
driver is still gonna you know slam on the brakes might crash into this thing
but then he's gonna get stuck under it along comes this guy the accomplice
who's really going to be doing the the work of the robbery he comes along with
this six wheeled amphibious ATV utility type vehicle and it has a hook on the
back of it and with six tires it has a lot of traction it's also very low
geared so it has a lot of power he's going to hook this hook this kind of
grappling style hook onto the back bumper of the transport van he's gonna
pull that off and with it he's gonna pull part of the floor straight out
because he's done his research he knows how these trucks are put together he's
found this this weakness get that hooked on there and he's gonna
pull and pull and it actually will open the doors hopefully this will this will
work here it'll open the doors with this is a you really have to pull quite a bit
there's a lot of friction here but they'll pull that right on out
I might have to rehook it at some point but just get that back under there so
the ideas that are then kind of be able to drag it along or perhaps if that
doesn't stick in there which doesn't seem to be doing a very good job of
right now you can pull the hook off and just use this stud here and plug that
directly into the plate so this is one option here another option would be to
get a little help from your buddy but he seems to be a little bit preoccupied
right now so you can just enlist the help of a huge figure to come in and
pick up this this whole bounty and just stick it in the bed while you're at it
you can also take the chainsaw here just attach it to the side and it can either
be hang out like that or up like that dude with the beehive hairdo gets left
behind to fend for himself and meanwhile this guy triumphantly drives off headed
off to the mountain hideout of the criminals or whatnot this vehicle looks
great to me I really like the rounded front end has
a little bit of realism based on some actual vehicles that have existed back
in the I want to say 70s and 80s probably still some around now might be
some new ones made but my my own attachment and memory goes goes back a
ways to this design a vehicle and and you know they're they're real things
they would be actually amphibious so you know the whole the whole name of the set
has around a river so the idea is that this would be near a River Road and then
he would just go into the water itself which would help him to evade capture he
would think or it'd be you know a shortcut and you don't have to see how
that works out the driving compartment here could not be simpler
at least he does have a proper seat that he's sitting upon but you don't really
see it and it just has a steering wheel in there so that works out
I appreciate the inclusion of a couple of clips on the sides to hold on to
those minifig accessories what are they always say in
news reports and shows about police chases you can't get away from the cops
because they have aircraft like helicopters and in this case an airplane
this one has a net shooter on the side of it so the idea is that this would
find this guy slowly making his way up a river with the very heavy load of gold
on the back and with that net shooter who come down dive bomber style and try
to take aim and this won't work yeah all right no worries just take
another pass at it nope mmm maybe if I come down from a higher
altitude more steep like this that's just not let me try it from the front
you
first try so the box art style dream of using the net shooter to perfectly
envelop and wrap up your target with the net sailing through the air fully opened
and ready to just cup around leave the baddie is pretty much just that just a
dream it works well for minifigs by themselves
because you can hit the minifig and then many finger will go down and then you
can just say hey I got him but when it comes to actually covering up something
like the utility vehicle in this set not so much it's possible but difficult this
plane is able to have the net shooter attached to either side so whether
you're a lefty or a righty you should be able to get a comfortable placement for
it the thing works just fine at least it's not frustrating but still talking
about the net shooter yep still talking about the net shooter least it's not
frustrating to get the net back in there like it used to be and you can just
leave that entirely off if you don't like it at all the plane looks pretty
nice to me it's a little bit a little bit blocky a
little bit 2010 ish maybe you know but it's not bad it looks a little bit
classic which seems perfectly fine to me you know a lot of a lot of aircraft and
vehicles as well but especially aircraft tend to be on the older side but still
functioning perfectly well it's got the floats there to represent the ability to
land in water and it's a fairly solid bill I mean it's it's pretty heavy for
for what it is because most of this under here is and at the front and all
along the tail is all completely solid the undercarriage is completely solid
not a lot of hollow space in this which is unusual but it's fine just lift up
the whole cockpit section as a single printed console piece in there no
control sticks or anything you know single pilot
it's that it it does its job I think here's a closer look at two of the
figures with the mountain police pilot on left and the armored van driver on
the right I like the fact that the armored van driver has well as the dark
green in the color scheme that's nice and including the cap there but also
kind of a generic torso you know obviously he has body armor on and he
has an ID badge there but it doesn't have any logo for the company that's you
know actually doing the transport says security on the back but the thing that
I like about this is that you could use this as a security guard for your own
company in your own lego world or for anything you could use it as a police
person if you want you could use it in the context of superhero stuff you know
it's just it's just smart that way you know not making it specific to this set
are specific to this theme I like that no alternate faces here but I think
that's fine and then here are the two criminals with their GL suits on to make
sure you know they're criminals and they've got their very mean expressions
I really like the face of the guy on the right it's it's something a little bit
new a little bit different almost has a little bit of anime style to it the way
that they've done the the mouth mmm eyes a little bit but it's it's different its
unique prints on the backs of the torsos are fairly normal but check this out
this guy has an alternate pace so that's after he's had a beehive on his head and
he's gotten stung all over his face so that's the mountain river heist just
looking at everything in person I do wish it was maybe 10% 15% cheaper at the
most so you know it's it's within the range it's within the reasonable range
when you really consider how much this would cost as I said how much that would
cost as a set how much that would cost as a set and you had it up I do believe
this is a Toys R Us retail exclusive in the US so you know you can find it at
Toys R Us physical stores and their online shop and Lego usually will end up
selling it on shop Lego Oh calm as well not sure about other
places but that's just based on what I've seen so far I really like this zero
complaints about that it's it's pretty perfect the van works out pretty well
you know they I think they make some compromises for this specific play
feature and I think that's that's fine because that play feature works well I
like the design of it as long as I don't get too picky about just looking at this
corner here the plane is probably the low point of the set to me oh yeah I
like that that new head as well that that's really cool to me the the little
terrain build is fine you know being able to fill the tree like that I think
is there's a lot of fun it's it's so simple
but it works well I think that a lot of kids won't enjoy that enjoy playing
around with the Beehive there's all sorts of mischief that you can cause
with that that pretty much sums up my thoughts about this set so I'm gonna
move on to the next set have many more things to review thank you very much for
