Houston Texans owner Bob McNair is still getting backlash for his "inmates running the prison"
comment, in reference to ongoing player demonstrations during the national anthem.
Although he expressed regret and issued a public apology over the weekend, some Texans
players considered staging a walkout.
And now Jay Z, who has been a vocal supporter of Colin Kaepernick, has responded to the
matter, taking a moment to address it during the opener of his 4:44 Tour in Anaheim, Calif.
on Friday.
Before a performance of "The Story of O.J.," Jay Z talked to the audience about McNair's
inflammatory comment and how we still have a long way to go as a society.
If you missed that, Hov said
"[They're] injuring themselves on the field, giving it all they got.
That's how they look at you.
That's what they think about you.
We got so much further to go.
The truth is we all believe in whatever you believe in.
God, Allah.
Whatever you believe in, we come from one source which means we are all brothers and
sisters at the end of the day."
Jay has been outspoken in his support for the protests taking place in the NFL.
Recently, Jay Z stood for Kaepernick by wearing the player's jersey during his SNL performance
of "Bam," and by dedicating a performance of "The Story of O.J." during the Meadows
Festival to him.
