It's the same in Nha Trang, the people here love coffee.
I've noticed, here in Nha Trang, there is a coffee brand named Mê Trang
This brand is one of many that have the most coffee shops along the coast and all over the city of Nha Trang
I wonder why a coastal city like Nha Trang would have a coffee brand.
Especially a brand that is not only served in coffee shops,
but also owns a factory to produce, distribute locally and export internationally.

I'm but a tourist in Nha Trang, and I've had many questions
about your brand. Can you brief us about Mê Trang coffee?
Okay. Mê Trang Coffee was established on the 20th, October, 2000
The name Mê Trang..."Mê" is from Buôn Mê Thuột, the rich basaltic land
- the world's largest coffee grower and importer - Okay
"Trang" is from the beautiful and poetic Nha Trang
where the Mê Trang coffee factory is built,
the Mê Trang headquarter is also based in Nha Trang.
Those combined into the word "Mê Trang"
We are aiming to open 300 stores nationwide in the project "Mê Trang Coffee Shop"
Through this project, we are step by step dominating the domestic and international markets
Mê Trang coffee is now available in supermarkets in all 64 provinces, and is exported to 5 countries:
Korea, USA, Russia, Poland, Czech
In the big cities in Vietnam, especially in the 4 or 5-star hotels
Mê Trang coffee is widely used. In single or double room, there are at least 2 or 4 coffee packets

What's special about it?
Firstly, the name "Mê Trang" is a very nice name, it's very familiar to the people of Nha Trang
that's why they love our brand.
Besides, Mê Trang has produced and introduced our own "clean coffee" line
We're a pioneer in that aspect. We only produce clean and pure coffee.
That's why we have gained the trust of the people of Nha Trang.
In 2008, when we introduced the "clean coffee" line, a lot of people have asked "How?"
We have to talk about the process. The production is a closed process.
"Clean" from the materials to the end product. The coffee is produced under "3 No's"
1. No pesticide residues 2. No additives 3. No preservatives
When the coffee was grown, no pesticide was used.
It was all organic
We would clean the beans and put them through a closed production process, with no additives
So not only do you have a factory, you also own a farm.

We have a farm in Buôn Mê, and in Cầu Đất, Lâm Đồng, Đà Lạt

We imported this production line from Switzerland
Once the beans are roasted and screened
they'll go through distillation and be packaged
- This is the 10-lane packaging line - 10 lanes?
- Yes 10. Meaning it can produce 150 packets/minute - Wow, that's cool.
- This is the old 1-lane? - Yes, 1 lane. This is the 1-lane machine
- It's a bit slow, huh? - Yes, 1 lane is slow
- The other one is so fast - The one over there is 150 packets/minute
- Okay. Oh you make sugar too? - Yes we do
- Refined? - Refined
We're transporting the beans, the raw beans
This is the Arabica Robusta beans, we'll move them to this line

- Yes - This is the roaster?

We will roast the beans for 18-20 minutes
at about 220 Celsius.
When the beans are roasted enough, there's this aroma of roasted coffee, just enough
Is that your brand's recipe, or where does the recipe come from?
No, this is from the research of scientists. The coffee beans are hard, only when you roast them like that can they be properly roasted.
After the roasting process, comes the cooling process
This is the cooling process. The beans come from here, and get cooled
- Smells so good! - It's all pure, amazing coffee
- The aroma is very refreshing - How can you not get addicted to this?
- Different from when you were drinking it huh? - Now I know how the newly roasted beans smell like
This is the proof of how clean Mê Trang coffee is. Completely closed process.
How long does the cooling process take?
It takes about 5-10 minutes.
How many roasting recipes do you have? Or is it the same for every type of beans?
These are recipes from the producer, we have 18 product types
- 18 product types? - Each has its own recipe and production technology
But every single one is roasted and processed into a pure product like this
So for which type of coffee is this recipe?
- This is for MCafe. - Just Mcafe?
- MCafe - MCafe is whole bean or ground?
- MCafe has both whole bean and ground - Both?
To use in "phin" brewing
After stirring and cooling here for 5 minutes
In the 5 minutes after that, it's moved to brewing
What do you mean?
- You have to brew it too? - Yes, for a certain amount of time.
Oh, to keep all the taste and aroma in the beans?
How many roaster and grinder systems do you have?
We have 15 systems like this.
- 15 just like this? - Yes
- Running 24/24? - Yes, 24/24
After 5 days of brewing, it's moved to Quality Control machine
for beans, to filter out the bad beans. Those will be put in this bowl
- Bean by bean? - Yes
How does it choose which bean is good or not?
It will choose the broken beans and those with bad colors to filter out
- These are the eliminated ones - So this is the QC machine

It screens bean by bean, filter out those that are under-roasted, over-roasted, small or broken
and put those in a bowl; while the best ones, bean by bean
it will put...where? Where?
- Here, the good ones are put in here - Yeah the good beans are put in here
- From here, they're put on a transport line - Moved to another silo

So once the beans are screened, the good ones are stored in that silo
This one stores beans, that one stores powder
If you want powder, you'll grind those beans, and if you want whole beans, you'll package those directly?

I ask you, which bean is good, which isn't?
You're asking a coffee producer
Our coffee is screened twice

After the second screen, the broken and off-colored beans
will be eliminated, and those with the right color, big and round like these will be kept

This is a good bean, and this is a bad one
The good bean has the right color
This color isn't an additive, but when the bean is roasted
only when roasted right can it have this color
Those that are too small, too raw or broken will become this color

All these beans will be moved to grinding, and packaging
Now we take these whole beans over there

The last step is when the beans are ground into powder
and the powder is packed into packets by the assembly line
Those packets will be vacuumed

When I heard about the 100 Eggs Theme Park, I thought
there are rocks that are round and big like eggs, about 100 of those here
make 100 Eggs Resort, and there's not much but nature here.

In the near future, we want to expand our market to foreign tourism companies, to attract more foreign guests

This resort was established to the CEO's vision of a health-tourism resort

We all know mud and mineral bathing are different. We'll talk about mud baths first
"Mud" here is processed and filtered mud
then boiled, pasteurized, then moved to the pools
Bathing in mud will exfoliate and improve your skin
About mineral baths, "mineral" here is mineral water from the ground
We pump and process it for the guests to use
Everything here is natural, nothing is man-made in this mineral water
Mineral baths are really good for the elderly
those with arthritis can soak in these baths and feel better

For me, mud is something that's close to heart to us Vietnamese
When we were young, living in the countryside, playing on the farms
catching fish and shrimps in ponds. To us then, mud is dirty
So when I see people bathing in mud, I kind of think it's not...clean
But when we were young, we didn't know the benefits of mud bathing
So in a bit, I will take a mud bath, for the first time
to see what the benefits are, and if I will be more handsome
to see if my skin gets whiter and less wrinkled
When you're in 100 Eggs and take a mud bath
unlike in other resorts where you bathe in stone pools, here you'll bathe in "eggs"
You can see eggs in the bushes
It's a completely private way to bathe
You get in, mud is pumped in, and you can soak
enjoying the view
If we were bathing and somebody else wanted to look, is that ok?
When you get in that pool, you won't see the nearby pools
The design is that when you get in the pools, you can only look in one direction: East, where the Sun rises
The nearby pools can't see each other
Well, even if they did, they wouldn't see anything. The mud is this dark after all
So, how many people can bathe in one pool?
One egg pool can accommodate 1-2 people
if there are kids, they can bathe with their parents, 2 adults, 1 child
but maximum 2 adults.
If you come with a big family, or a group,
100 Eggs resort also has pools for families and groups, like stone pools for 2-4 people
and family pools for 5, 7, or 10-15 people

Right now, I'm standing in a village
in the 100 Eggs resort in Nha Trang
and this village has a very visualistic: Lak Kon Ku
Why this name?
When I asked the owner of this resort, they said
It comes from our 3 highland areas
Dak Lak, Kontum and Pleiku
Those 3 names put together and make Lak Kon Ku

When guests want to stay up here, they will stay in a room like this

from 8 o'clock to 18 o'clock, which is 6pm
then we can accommodate 1 or 2 couples
The 100 Eggs Mud Bath resort has been in operation for almost 5 years
it's developed well
Even with the area available, management had to expand its services
This section right here is called "Mud World"
which can cater for 1000 guests at the same time, which is awesome
I've heard mud bathing is nice and good and all, but I still haven't tried it
