What is a tsunami?
I do not know.
Tsunami is a series of giant waves.
In Japanese, tsunami means 'Harbor Wave'.
And in Chinese?
Just listen.
A wave is created when energy passes through water.
Moving air or wind provides energy to water, forming regular waves.
While on the ocean floor, when a tectonic plate suddenly slides beneath the other.
The resulting earthquake releases tremendous amount of energy.
This energy spreads outward from the point of earthquake, triggering waves that can form tsunami.
Initially, these waves are small in size but they travel at great speeds.
However, when the waves approach the shore, the rising seabed obstructs the energy of waves.
This slows down the speed of waves.
But the energy flux must remain constant leading to an increase in height of waves.
Thus resulting in tsunami.

Hello, welcome everyone to Green Pine Film's channel.
My name is Ben, I was requested by GPF to present this study of the legendary actor
of Mumtaz Ener.
Before I proceed with the life of this Turkish legend, I would like to state two things,
the first a little about myself, and the second a paragraph about GPF.
Now a bit about myself.
My name is Ben.

Now a bit about Green Pine Film - GPF.
GPF was created to bring back old films that are forgotten, and we try very hard to bring
these films to the now and present.
The focus is on films that contain beautiful music, heart-felt songs and intriguing dialogue,
which GPF brings to life by taking pictures from these films and records the conversation
and exchange.
We have posted six projects since launching this channel, and we hope all of you youtube
viewers have enjoyed them.

Okay, now we will bring forward our study and inform everyone about the legendary actor
of Mumtaz Ener and obviously this is our seventh project, but the first video to present a
study about an esteemed actor.
Mumtaz Ener was born in 1907, that is 110 years ago, wow.
He was born in the province of Mugla of the Ottoman Empire, He was born into an empire
that is no longer active, and Mugla is now within the country of Turkey.
He died in the year 1989 at the age of 82, may he rest in peace.
He finished Elementary and Junior High in Mugla, then travelled to Istanbul and lived
in Kadikoy area; Mumtaz Ener finished High School at Kadikoy Asiyan High School.
In the year 1923, which is also the year the Turkish Republic came to be, he starred in
the Istanbul Opera in the play titled 'Bulbul'
In the year 1940 at the age of 33, He starred in his first film titled 'Yilmaz Ali'
Mumtaz Ener went on to play in 317 films, that is just an incredible number.
Most of these movies, he was in the secondary roles playing a father, a mafia boss, a husband,
a doctor, and a sidekick to the protagonist.
Mumtaz Ener was one of the only actors in Turkish cinema
to use his own voice while playing in the film; he had a commanding voice that was very
recognizable.
Between the years 1945 to 1953, he also was a director and directed a total of seven films.
Mumtaz Ener played along side many of the lead actors of Yesilcam Cinema, to name but
a half dozen of these actors: Ayhan Isik, Yilmaz Guney, Kemal Sunal, Fatma
Girik, Turkan Soray and Cuneyt Arkin.
Green Pine Film's project number three is titled 'Son of a Blind man' - 'Koroglu' in
Turkish.
Please find this video in our list of videos and take the time to watch and listen to it.
In the movie, Mumtaz Ener is the father of Koroglu, and he is killed by the Ruler of
Northern District of Anatolia, and the son takes revenge for his father; we at GPF believe
this role might be Mumtaz Ener's best work.
Mumtaz means exceptional in Turkish and this word fully describes this impressive actor.
A few of his films are listed now: Koroglu - Son of a Blind man, Yilmaz Ali - Ali,
who does not give up, Aclik - Hunger, Hinc - the Feeling, and Alin Yazisi - Written destiny.
He was a character actor that would have won a handful of Oscar's if he was discovered
by Hollywood.

In the film 'Hababam Sinifi', which arguably might be listed as one of the best films of
Yesilcam Cinema, Mumtaz Ener gives his voice to the teacher, who is played by another great
actor of Sitki Akcatepe, this is an interesting fact that might not be known by many.
Sadly, he passed away in 1989 at Darulaceze, which was a retirement home located in the
Fatih district of Istanbul.
