It's really easy to look back in our life, like Steve Jobs said once, and connect the dots and say,

"Oh, that success was because of that, and that failure was because of that.

And now I have all of these beautiful qualities because of the incredible lows I've been through."

About five years ago I was approached by a record label.

They made me an offer for a record deal.

I was really excited because I had been trying for about 10 years at that point to make it

as an artist.

I was living in a fourth floor walk-up in the city and totally broke at the time so

it was like, "OK my dreams are coming true, finally!"

I went around the label, I met all the departments.

They told me about what a big star I'd be and it was gonna be my ticket to success.

The single that I had out, which was this little indie single, was falling on the charts

rather than rising.

About a week later, my manager came over to my apartment and he told me that the offer

was off the table.

That they took it away.

And it completely shattered my world, it broke my heart.

I was devastated.

I had a manager and an agent and a lawyer before that.

When they took the offer off the table, everything fell apart.

They all fell away.

And over and over and over I just kept hearing, "No, no thank you. No."

I had a lot of moments of, "I should probably give up."

Somebody told me to go build my own fire and stop trying to warm myself with other people's fires,

and the way I would do that is through songwriting.

That was when I dove in.

I wrote about a thousand songs over the next four years, and I truly learned the craft

and how to write a pop song.

That became the way that I found success even though everyone told me it was impossible.

Fight Song, and this whole entire album "Waves" that I just put out, came out of a place of

real desperation and rejection.

Songwriting is the way that I say, "No, I am actually gonna be successful even if

you don't believe in me."

Because no one can deny a good song.

Nothing ever is as devastating as it seems, but when you're trudging through the mud

and crying in your living room because a label just rejected you, it's hard to have that perspective.

I wish I could have given that girl a really big hug and told her,

"Oh you have no idea what's coming...

Just use all this rejection and go write a song about it.

It'll change your life."

How to Make Instant Pot Italian Sausage and Pasta - Duration: 2:54.

hello everyone it's stephanie manley with copykat.com today i'm gonna show

you how to make Italian sausage and spaghetti

it's said of your instant pot it's a great one pot meal that you're gonna

love it's your instant pot to saute and go

ahead and add in a couple tablespoons of olive oil or vegetable oil we're gonna

saute 1 pound of Italian sausage link inside the before you really get started

with the recipe be sure to subscribe to this channel and don't forget to hit the

bell notifications will you'll be notified when new recipes are released I

do two recipes a week and I'd love for you to see what's coming up next alright so in

goes the 1 pound of sausage and again we're gonna cook this for about 50 or 60

percent of the way through now what this will do is it'll add some nice browning

to the sausage so you'll get a little bit more flavor and to make it easy for

you to cut the links into bite-size pieces and if you like go ahead and take

a moment at this point just kind of wipe out the oil of this pan while you're

slicing up the sausage that way you can reduce the amount of fat that's in the

final product now if I walk you through this recipe we're also gonna add in two

twenty four ounce jars of spaghetti sauce a pound of pasta and a couple of

cups of water to kind of wash out those jars of spaghetti to make sure we get

all that goodness in there and then we're gonna cook it for eight minutes on

high on your manual setting it's really easy to do all right so just slicing up

the sausage into bite-sized pieces now I love to do this whenever I have a great

big crowd of people and I need to feed them inexpensively this dish will make

about six to eight these serving sizes depending upon how much your guests like

now one pound of pasta goes into the instant pot I find that the brand

Barilla does really well two cups of water it's important for the pasta and I

also kind of use it because when I empty out the jars of pasta sauce that I put

the water in there shake it up and put all the goodness in there so you got

everything your instant pot now do the manual set

for eight minutes and then we're gonna go ahead and do a quick release on this

now sometimes some people have experienced that when they do a quick

release with pasta that it can spew up a lot of extra water in oil

I'm not oil starch at that point stop that

release immediately I'd let it go ahead and do a natural release where you let

it come down to pressure on its own just a troubleshooting tip right there but

anyway back in I hope you give this recipe a try it's so easy to do and it's

packed full of flavor because spaghetti has sauce all in it so I hope you
