Why Craig Morgan Will Always Support The Military | Southern Living - Duration: 2:40.

I joined the Army about a year into college.

Just felt like I needed to do something else.

Went in and the guy said you want to be Airborne

and I thought I was gonna be flying planes and said sure.

I didn't know that I was gonna be jumping out of 'em.

Went to Airborne School and I was graduating Airborne School

a guy, Leonard B. Scott, he was the commander

of the Airborne Academy at the time,

asked me to write a song for the Airborne Test Platoon.

They were the first jumpers ever to jump in the Army.

So I wrote this song, and he says

what do you want to do for doing this for us?

And I said I want to stay in Fort Benning, Georgia,

and be an Airborne instructor.

I stayed at Fort Benning, Georgia,

but he put me in the Ranger detachment.

I ended up spending almost 11 years of active duty

in the Army.

Left the Army active duty to pursue the music

but I'm still very much involved

and I still feel like I'm part of the military.

I think I always will be.

Everything that I learned in my military career

I carry forward, the discipline, the respect,

the gratitude, the esprit de corps, the friendship.

There's a shared camaraderie that takes place

in the military unlike any other corporation

or organization in the world.

When I was an NCO, I was really hard.

We used to say we were harder than woodpecker lips.

And when I first started in the music business,

I kind of ran my band that way,

until my drummer almost had a heart attack.

I couldn't figure out why he couldn't run two miles.

I think it's super important for any of us

in this country, who have been given a platform,

to utilize that platform to try to better lives,

and one of the ways that we can do that

is by serving those men and women who serve our country.

Operation Finally Home is an organization that provides

mortgage-free homes for service members

who are incapacitated in some way.

I come from a group of people in the military

that there's no such thing as PTSD.

We didn't know what PTSD was.

For one, that term didn't exist,

and then when it did come around, it just meant

that you didn't put your pants on right

and you need to knock the sand out of your boots

and pick your lip up off the ground and move forward,

but what we've learned is that it is very real.

And when we can do something here at home

that helps relieve that stress,

or take away some of that pressure from that individual

so that he can focus on living and supporting his family,

it changes lives, and not just him and his family's lives,

it changes the lives of the people around them.

It gives them an opportunity to go out and change lives.

I think it's as important, maybe even more so,

when you see these older warriors, World War Two veterans,

and I seen one the other day,

he or she is part of a very elite group of people.

So it's easy.

It ain't like you got to do it to a hundred people.

You see very few of 'em,

and when you do see them, it's easy to walk up

and say thank you, and it means a lot to them,

it really does.

I want to change people's lives for the better, period.

How To Get Rid of Dry itchy Skin in Winter Eczema can occur at any time of the year, but the winter season can cause outbreaks of eczema and cause many problems. Eczema or atopic dermatitis is a chronic skin disease. If you have eczema, you may have to deal with symptoms such as intense itching (especially at night), dry and scaly patches of red to brownish gray and small bumps that can shed fluid and crust if scratched. These symptoms tend to get worse in the winter. 1. Maintain an Even Temperature The skin tends to react to sudden changes in temperature, especially during the winter. For example, when you enter a warm house on a cold winter day or vice versa, the skin can not handle it properly. In fact, the sudden change of temperature contributes to the dryness of the skin and to the sensations of itching. This can worsen the symptoms of eczema. 2. Use a humidifier You should keep your home at a comfortable temperature that is not too hot or too cold, with a humidity level between 45 and 55 percent to prevent the skin from drying out. If the humidity in your home is too low, use a humidifier to help re-add moisture into the air. You can buy a humidifier or simply keep a container of water in each room to help increase the humidity in the air. No matter what you decide to use, keep it clean to prevent mold growth. 3. Apply moisturizer often Moisturizers are essential at any time of the year. But in the winter, you need to use a thick one and apply it more often. Using the right moisturizer is one of the best ways to deal with outbreaks of eczema. When using a moisturizer, pay more attention to your hands and face, as they are more often exposed to cold, dry air. It is best to apply moisturizers and oils when the skin is still wet after a bath or shower to seal off moisture. Make sure you hydrate your skin more than once a day. 4. Choose the right clothes As the temperature drops, we tend to cover ourselves with layers of clothing. Hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters, and socks are essential to protect from the cold. But those who suffer from eczema should avoid items made of wool. Another important point is that you should remove wet clothes and shoes immediately as they can irritate your skin and worsen your symptoms. 5. Protect your skin from the sun During the winter months, the sun can soothe the skin. But the fact that the temperature is low does not mean that you can skip the sunscreen. Even on a cloudy day, if you are outside for long periods of time, you can burn with the sun. This, in turn, can worsen the symptoms of eczema. 6. Drink lots of water Keeping your body hydrated from the inside helps keep your skin hydrated. This, in turn, will help prevent outbreaks of eczema during the winter months. Drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water per day. You will know that your body is well hydrated if your urine is clear. To increase your water consumption, you do not have to simply limit yourself to water. Cut some lemons or other citrus fruits and add them to the water to obtain a mild flavor. In addition, fruits and vegetables rich in water content help a lot to keep your body hydrated.

So, we got our venue...

but what about the decorations?

Because all the previous venues that we checked,

churches for example, they got really nice interior

really intriguing one.

Yeah, we had that problem that we could not modify [it]

or use fog machine, or the floor was bad.

But it was nice looking interior.

Theater?

Well, they got nice floor for the dancers, yeah.

And they got all the rig to put the decorations... but...

What decorations to put?

Right. I was also worried and very skeptical

about our ability to decorate it within ourselves.

Because... I didn't want the decorations to be ...

cheap or fake, or too naive, or too much, or too little.

And what would we put on - that was all a bit overwhelming for me.

But I was optimistic!

The idea of Lindsey's "Crystallize" video stuck in my head.

Actually, the way those ice castles look like

and also the one that I googled.

and... I thought.. what about faking it somehow?

Those icy walls and semi-transparent icy columns.

And I thought what if we fake it using some

semi-transparent curtains, sheers.

And we illuminate them with the white and blue LED lights

So we may get the same effect of having some

ice on stage.

And if we throw some fog clouds into it

then we get that misty atmosphere, so... it may work!

And I drew some sketch and I showed it to you.

[Milana] Yeah, and I loved it! I remember that it was both

[Milana] very enchanting and fragile, and minimalistic!

[Milana] Quite artistic! Not overpowering.

[Milana] Just what I was hoping for.

[Milana] Actually, I couldn't believe you made it!

[Arty] Well, yeah, it was just a sketch at that time.

Just.. I took a pencil and just drew something on paper.

[Milana] Just what I loved about it!

[Milana] It was never ever symmetric. It was all moving.

[Arty] Yeah, I tried to do it like it.

From the beginning I thought it should be asymmetric.

No symmetry! It should be absolutely random.

Yeah! Improvised!

And I started looking for some decorating agencies.

And that was another shock like...

This whole project was one shock after another, actually.

Why shock? Because it was SO expensive!

I mean, I looked for all those organizations who..

... agencies who organize events like weddings

and so on do all the decor.

And when they named their price...

I was like.... NO! Sorry! [overlapping voices]

All we needed was just putting some curtains.

So.. I already drew the sketch.

So... we just needed like a bunch of curtains

and some assistance to hang them in the theater and that's it.

So, I switched the direction:

instead of looking for decorating agencies

and event organizers,

I looked for decoration warehouses.

And I found one: not too far from Ottawa, in Arnprior

Just what... half an hour drive from where we live.

So, I requested a quote from them

and when I received an email saying...

that it only costs 10 bucks per sheer for one day.

I was like: "Wow! Give me 20! That's great!"

And then we drove to Arnprior, it's what.. half an hour

and we saw that in that warehouse...

there were not only sheers but also some crystal panels

and crystal chandeliers!

[Milana] And I remember enjoying most of all

not the sparkles of the chandeliers

but the kind of a look that you got

that sparkle in your eyes when you saw...

[Milana] ... all the decorations. [Arty] Well! I felt like I'm a kid in a Christmas shop!

I mean.. all those gifts like.. Common! I didn't

[Milana] "Give me 20!" [Arty] Yeah, give me sheers, and give me LED lights

and crystal and that was so fitting!

I mean all those crystals on panels and so on

They were all sparkling, it was like Ice!

It was really illuminating things!

So.... I included them in my sketch... and...

I understood that there is quite a distance between..

my sketchy drawing and...

what will be there on the real stage.

For starters, my sketch was... well... just...

[Milana] two-dimensional. [Arty] two-dimensional, yeah..

So, I thought.. I have time, why not to try

to convert it into a three-dimensional model.

And... I looked for some free software for that

found SketchUp.

And... I....

recreated the stage with all those exact proportions.

I got those from technical specifications of the stage:

where they "tie lines" are, where the...

... like what are the dimensions of the stage.

And I started putting all those...

.. sheers the way I drew them on my sketch

on my drawing.

And I immediately discovered that this just doesn't work

all those curtains intersected with each other

So, it was some impossible Escher-like things that I...

[Arty] that I drew.. [Milana] Almost a maze! [Arty] yeah!

[Milana] The dancers could only crawl between... [Arty] Yeah! And that was another problems that..

It was like.. this is the stage.

and those are the curtains going like this

and there is no much space between them so...

what dance?! Like, they literally had to crawl underneath.

So, I thought like.. no-no-no! It doesn't work!

And we have to redo everything.

So, after a couple of days of moving all those things around

I came up with this final sketch.

3D sketch at this time, 3D model.

with grand piano and I found also 3D models of...

same chandeliers and dancers and so on. So, I just...

moved them around like a kid!

[Milana] Oh, that's so nice! [Arty] Okay, let's move this toy over here

and that toy over there and see how they work.

And it actually worked and we got this design

that at the end turned into the real thing.

[Milana] You cast your spell. [Arty] Yes, that was my spell.
