(Episode 47)

Haengja, our garden is emptier than I expected.

Let's plant a persimmon tree when we move.

Wait.

Won't blinds be better than curtains?

They're more chic.

I'm so happy.

You racked up a huge bill.

What happened?

Didn't you give it to me to use?

I didn't go over the limit though.

Reckless?

One must spend to keep up appearances.

It looks like the kids will be all set,

but his spending is a problem.

Should I give him another chance?

Excuse me. I'd like to see that.

This is it.

I need something like this to keep up appearances.

Miss. I'll take this.

Yes, sir.

Oh. I'll pay cash.

Yes, sir.

It's $10,000.

Pay back the loan shark.

Also, here's a debit card.

It has a generous balance,

so use it to your heart's content.

What's going on all of a sudden?

I doubt this is from Ms. Kim.

I told you to trust me.

Just trust me and do as I say.

You're sure this is okay, right?

I'm Jung Geunseop.

I trust you, Dad.

As you should.

There are many more surprises to come.

Why?

Do you have a problem repaying the loan?

This is really from your dad?

Yes.

Where did that jerk find this kind of money?

He said we needn't worry about using it.

Repay the loan quickly.

I don't want to see those people again.

I can't help but worry.

You don't suppose it's dirty money, do you?

This is what you wanted,

so why the sudden guilty conscience?

Are you at it again?

What did I do?

It's clear as day where that money came from.

So why won't anyone speak up?

Does that make you feel less guilty?

It beats letting those thugs wreck our house.

If it nags at us, we can work hard and pay it back.

It's our money, so why pay it back?

He gave it to us because we deserved it.

Our money?

You have a warped view of what's ours.

It's Dad's money.

Gil Eunjo's not her daughter but spends her money,

so why can't we use this?

Mom!

You can object to this after we solve

our immediate problem.

Do you feel inferior to Gil Eunjo?

What?

You take issue with her at every turn.

I can't stand how she acts

as if Ms. Kim's money is hers

even though she's not even her real daughter.

What? Being born into a rich family is what?

If I'd known,

I wouldn't have let her talk down to me.

She does have an inferiority complex.

Her parentage is their private matter.

Right! That's it. That is it.

You're sure Ms. Kim isn't Gil Eunjo's birth mom?

Duh.

Don't even bring her up.

So she's not Gil Myeongjo's birth mom either.

What are you getting at?

Ms. Kim and Myeongjo aren't blood relations,

so I can be with Myeongjo.

You're way too obsessive.

Obsessive?

Did you just say I'm obsessive?

If I'm obsessive, what about you?

I'm obsessive but you're in love?

So what are you going to do?

You don't even really know Gil Myeongjo.

You want him because he's off limits.

You might be disappointed once you date him.

Snap out of it.

So I'm going to give it go. That way,

I won't have any regrets even if we break up.

Haengja. Haengja, take a look at this.

How's this?

Classic furniture for the new house.

Or... Oh. High gloss.

Simple is nice too.

What are you thinking about?

Huh? Oh... No, it's nothing.

What? What did you say?

What's worrying you?

You're adopting the kids.

You should be dancing with joy,

so why do you have such a long face?

One gets scared and uneasy

even when things work out too well.

Good grief. Rejoice if you're happy.

Why complicate matters?

Say... Dr. Jeong...

Why? Is he being fishy?

You find him suspicious too, right?

No. Never mind.

Let's go to bed.

Get the futons out.

I've been distracted by my friend who's visiting,

but I should go back to tailing him tomorrow.

Just leave this to me.

Don't waste your time.

Focus on learning the pawnshop business

instead of cajoling Min Yang and playing hooky.

It's always the pawnshop when you're stumped.

This is where we'll be moving.

We all went to see it today.

When are you moving?

Ms. Kim said it'd be another month or so.

I'm glad.

The change in surroundings will do you good.

I think so too.

But would it be okay if I moved?

Why?

Is there a problem?

Then we'll be farther apart.

Then stay at the old house.

Are you serious?

I'm kidding.

Oh, come on.

My goodness.

Let's see. Goodness me.

Let's see. I was...

That's right. That's right.

Haengja.

What brings you here this early?

You didn't hear me calling out to you?

Oh, you did?

I must not have heard as I was bundled up.

Did you have a good look at the new house?

Yes.

It's almost all done,

so you should be able to move soon.

It must've been tough staying at the cafe.

No. It wasn't tough at all.

Hang on, Dr. Jeong.

I tend to forget if I don't do things

right when I need to.

Just a moment.

Oh?

W-What's wrong?

I didn't take it out of the safe.

Is something wrong?

You see...

I don't know what you're looking for,

but look around here and there.

You seem to be forgetful these days.

Yes, that is true.

Then...

What? Did I leave this in here?

You found it?

Yes, I did, but...

Wow. I should keep my head on straight

or I could really mess up.

It happens at our age.

Yes, that's true, but...

The presentation at HQ yielded a similar result.

Our spokesperson Ms. Seol Miryeong

wants to wear your dress to the publishing party.

Really?

She said the dress was a perfect match for the book.

How did you know?

I'm curious too.

I said to imagine a fictitious publishing party,

so what happened?

I looked up Ms. Seol's schedule just in case,

and the publishing party was on it.

So I looked up the book and the author.

We gave your contact info. to Ms. Seol's stylists,

so join them when they call.

Me?

Go and learn.

This is a rare opportunity.

Yes, Director Gu.

Do you know why you were outperformed on this task?

No, I do not.

You lagged behind in interest and passion.

People call that capability.

You still have something to say

after texting with me all night?

All night?

Oh. Your idea for the presentation worked, Mr. Hong.

I'm impressed.

Hong Seok?

Okay.

Lunch is on me today.

See you at Pentagon in Cheongdam-dong,

okay?

Okay.

So she's carrying on with Hong Seok after Busik?

She said Pentagon, right?

Did you set up a meeting with Ms. Kim Haengja?

No. More importantly, Gongsin Bank called to say

they want to meet with you in person.

They did?

They see potential in your project

and will favorably review your investment proposal.

Thank goodness.

I want to see them as soon as possible.

Okay.

Oh. What should I do about Ms. Kim?

I'll go to the bank first.

Very well.

I hope Gongsin agrees to invest.

If it goes well, I'll convene the board next week.

Prepare for that in advance.

Yes, President Hong.

That's Gil Eunjo's aunt.

She was tailing Dad the other day too.

Dad,

Gil Eunjo's aunt is tailing you right now.

You know?

What's wrong with that family?

A man.

A man?

That's the surest way.

Based on what I've observed.

Ms. Gu Jonghui is lonely.

No way. She doesn't like men.

Pardon?

Do you mean... She likes women?

No, it's not that.

Anyway, she's so difficult and testy

that most men find it tough to handle her.

Even so, you can't

just leave your sister like that.

If your mother were alive, she'd arrange

blind dates so she wouldn't die a spinster.

Oh... Spinster...

Well, you see...

I've been moved by Ms. Gu as of late.

Turns out she's a walnut-type person.

Walnut?

She has a hard outer shell,

but inside, she's empty like a walnut.

And I'm going to crack her shell.

Oh. Then what about me?

Hmm... You are

like a persimmon.

You're soft and sweet inside and out.

Persimmon... Persimmon.

I like that.

That's why I like you.

Should we finish this conversation over lunch?

Okay, Chungseo.

I'm sorry I'm late.

Don't be. I came early.

We haven't ordered yet.

It was me.

Oh...

But I'm buying today.

You can settle the bill.

Very well.

I didn't know you were this suave.

Hurry up and eat.

Thank you.

I can't eat

if you keep staring at me like that.

Stop looking at me.

You're pretty even when you eat.

You know pickup lines like that?

You're a player, aren't you?

How many women have you used that line on?

Tell me.

Why are you laughing?

You're just like when I first met you.

It's reassuring you haven't changed.

This is the real you.

That's right.

I'm Gil Eunjo of Geumdong Market.

What's keeping him?

My lunch break is almost over.

- Busik. / - Did I keep you waiting long?

The trial took longer than expected.

Let's go in.

You must be here for lunch.

Enjoy then.

This place is very expensive.

Oh. I guess you paid for lunch, Eunjo.

It was Mr. Hong's treat

for my successful presentation.

You two enjoy your lunch too.

Why is she so full of herself?

Ultimately, she's got nothing going for her.

Did you call me here to show me that?

Why do this

when she always gets the better of you?

I'm angry too.

Must you put it like that?

Either make sure

you crush the opponent

or don't do things like this again.

Let's go in and eat.

What in the world?

How long has he just been sitting there?

He's been reading all day.

Does he step out often these days?

No, not really.

Why do you ask?

No, it's nothing.

You can just get back to your work.

She can watch me all she likes.

She won't get anything out of it.

Ms. Kim.

Good grief. Good grief.

Did I keep you waiting long?

I had to take care of something.

Reading made the time pass so quickly.

Can you concentrate on a book here?

We'll have to set you up with an office quickly.

Speaking of, I was thinking of setting up my study

on the ground floor of the new house.

What do you think?

Oh, well, you see...

How about letting my kids

and Eunjeong live there

and we stay at my current house?

Pardon?

The thing is, I'm so comfortable at my house.

And it'll be like new with a little renovation.

You should've discussed it with me first.

But then again, it's your house,

so what can I say?

It's not because it's my house.

You must be upset.

Um... Here.

It's your allowance for the week.

Use this since you don't have the credit card.

And let me know if there's anything

that requires a large expenditure.

Then I'll give you money if need be.

Please let me be in charge of all money matters.

I'll make sure you're not strapped.

Wow. Survive on this for a week?

Good grief. What does she take me for?

Thank goodness I set aside my own share.

Hello.

Oh? What a surprise.

Ms. Gil, welcome.

Just call me Eunjo.

Really?

I supposed you are younger than Inu,

and as Haengja's daughter, you're my daughter too.

Am I right?

Yes.

This is the first time I'm seeing you alone.

So it is.

What is it you want to say?

Don't be shy. Ask me anything.

It's about Ms. Kim.

I've caused her a lot of grief.

I was a big troublemaker.

But she seems happy these days.

She smiles a lot and seems at ease.

I know that's all thanks to you.

Thank you.

You must have felt I'd stolen her from you,

so thank you for saying that.

Please keep her smiling like you're doing now.

That's all I want.

Of course. That's not hard.

Thank you very much once again.

Oh, right. Other than with money,

Ms. Kim is a very generous person.

Wow. She demurely hit me below the belt.

She rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go.

First impressions never lie.

What is it?

You saw my dad, right?

What did you say to him?

I had to tell him something.

Who are you to talk to my dad?

I did it for Ms. Kim.

Did you tell him to go easy on her?

But of course.

It was a ridiculous match from the start.

You're right. They're not a good match.

Of course not.

The ignorant gamecock of Geumdong

and my PhD-holding dad are a world apart.

Ignorant gamecock?

What I'm saying isn't false.

What about an educated man mooching off

someone you call an ignorant woman?

What? Oh. Money?

You think you're all that because you have money?

Ms. Jeong Inu.

Money comes and goes.

But education and refinement can't be had overnight.

Isn't their disparity too great to quibble over?

So you're blatantly disparaging Ms. Kim?

I only say and act out how I feel.

You're really hopeless and vile.

Is this how your refined father taught you?

Vile?

Do you know your aunt's tailing my dad?

Why would she do that?

She's tailing him to see

if he might rip off Ms. Kim.

Is such blatant disrespect okay if you're rich?

That's what's called vile.

Min Yang, you can go.

Okay.

What's with you?

Are you staring me down?

You're scaring me.

Why are you tailing Dr. Jeong?

What?

I'm sure you have a reason.

You don't need to know.

Don't meddle in what your elders do.

You shouldn't have gotten caught then.

Why give his family cause for contempt?

Who in his family?

Anyway, stop tailing him.

Who are you to tell me what to do?

It's for Ms. Kim's sake.

What right do you have?

You're looking out for Haengja?

Good grief.

Why don't I have the right to?

Hey, you are... You are...

Never mind.

Go ahead.

Just lay it all out.

I don't want to.

Don't get dare get cocky.

Because I'm just a foundling?

That's what you want to say, right?

What?

Y-You knew?

When? How?

You knew yet you've shamelessly carried on as is?

Didn't you ever feel sorry for me?

I wasn't abandoned because I wanted to be.

Did you ever think about how I would feel

if I ever found out?

Why would I?

Why do I have to worry about your feelings?

That's right.

You wouldn't have been so mean to me

had you worried about my feelings.

Wow. You have a twisted way of putting things.

You must feel sorry for yourself,

but our family treated you well.

My dad, whom the entire town respected,

doted on you like his own grandchild.

And my saintly brother? Let's not even go there.

And do you know how much love

my sweet sister-in-law showered you with?

And then there's Haengja,

whom we don't even have to discuss.

So don't you think it's shameless

to want my love as well

after all the love you've gotten?

What did I say?

Talk about returning kindness with malice.

Just 3 years after you came...

Never mind. Never mind!

That I'm cursed?

That's right.

It's true we fell to ruin after you came.

That's why I'm going to watch over Ms. Kim.

How will you do that?

You can't even take care of yourself.

It's best if you just stay put.

No.

I'll repay Ms. Kim

and Myeongjo

for all they have given me.

So you stay put.

Hey!

Just don't do anything

because you're no help.

Hey. Hey!

How dare she chastise me?

If you knew anything about gratitude,

you wouldn't pounce on me like this.

Who are you

to take it out on me?

How long were you there for?

Again, the whole time.

Why do my secrets get found out by you?

I don't want them to be.

You did well.

I did well?

I'm always on an emotional roller coaster.

So what if I'm a foundling?

Like you said, our years together are what count.

What's important are the many years

and love that we've shared.

But then I wonder why my mom abandoned me.

Why did I start my life cold and alone?

How will I take care of anyone when I myself

was abandoned at birth?

Do you know how much strength you give me?

If you can't take care of anyone,

just take care of me.

I have lots of problems,

and they're all my doing.

Mr. Hong...

I haven't been brave enough to do this.

If you still have feelings for me,

I don't care if it's just pity.

Please take care of me.

I have a big picture.

A big picture?

What do you mean

the building's been sold?

Busik.

Father.

We've decided not to extend your contract.

Really?

But no one knows what the future holds.

No matter what happens,

don't resent me, Gil Eunjo.

How can you do that? How?

I have something to tell you.

Tomorrow's an important day for me.

President Hong, we walked into a trap.

How To Keep Your Cat Warm in Winter! Tips For Warming Your Cat and Keeping Them Happy in Winter! - Duration: 3:32.

Hi guys welcome back to the channel! It is Claire and Rags and it is definitely winter

there is more than just a nip in the air, it is very chilly outside especially here

in the UK! Now while it's important for us as humans to keep warm in the winter

It is just as important for our cats. Now most cats do you have a built-in

fur coat to keep them warm but if your cat is an indoor cat or slightly older

they can feel the cold. So Rags and I are here with some tips to keep your cat

nice and toasty warm during the winter months. Now you can get your cat a heated

bed not only will this help to keep your cat toasty warm on the cold days but it

will make you very popular with your cat! Now as cat owners we know that they

absolutely love finding any source of heat whether that's your lap or your

laptop though they are more than guaranteed to love it i heated bed. Now

this is not just a good way to keep your cat warm, but if you have a slightly

older cats like I do with Rags and having heated bed it's a great way to ease

their aches and pains. Ragsy likes sitting on hers so much it's actually quite hard to

get her off it. Now heated beds are widely available and tend to be quite

inexpensive but if you do get one you just need to make sure you read the

instructions carefully and you don't leave it unattended or on overnight if

it isn't meant to. Well if heated beds aren't your cat's cup of tea you can try

giving them lots of access to it some spots. Now we all know that cat

absolutely love basking into in the sun's rays and no matter what time of

year. The way to sun can be even though it's cold outside it was

coming in through a window it can be glorious and your cat will love it

What need to do really is make sure that any windows that do get Sun the curtains are

open and there are plenty of spaces for your cat to lounge around in the Sun

whether that be on a window sill or just on the floor somewhere where they can spend the afternoon

Now maintaining your cat's activity level especially during

the winter and colder months it is a great way to not only make sure your cat

stays nice and toasty warm, but both helps them keep active and healthy

Now a lot of people during winter like to keep their cats indoors as it does get

dark a lot and the way that can be very unforgiving what you need to make sure

that your cats don't get bored while being shot inside make sure you play

with your cat often and have lots of little games and poked around the house

and make sure you just spend a little time playing with your cat

Not only is it good to make sure your cat isn't bored doesn't get cold but it's great

way to bond with your cat and lastly during these winter months you might

want to keep an eye out for cats you don't have a nice cozy forever home if

you notice any strays in your area you could leave something in your shares

maybe a little bed and some fresh straw or a few blankets and make sure there's

fresh water and food out for them. Now winter is a particularly harsh time to

be stuck outdoors so if you can't catch these stray cats and take to a shelter

You can at least provide them some Wellborn for the night. Thanks for

watching guys I hope you found these tips useful and interesting and if you

have any additional tips on how to keep your cats at warm this winter let me

know in the comment section below Rags and I absolutely love to know about you

and your cats. If you did like the video guys please give a big thumbs up and hit

the subscribe button and think about becoming part of the notification squad

by clicking the little bell button. Thanks again guys and Rags and I will see you in our next video! Bye!

Mouthwatering KOREAN FOOD TOUR in SEOUL, South Korea - dakgalbi, fried chicken + MORE! - Duration: 25:14.

Seoul is a food paradise and if you love to eat you have got to check out this

video

we're taking you on a huge food tour of some delicious and popular

Korean dishes

you've got to check out the amazing local Korean food we eat in

this video make sure you watch right to the end so you don't miss out on these

mouth-watering dishes

I'm Thomas and I'm Sheena and we're Chasing a Plate, we hope

you're hungry let's eat

we're gonna grab some chimaek or fried chicken and beer

this is an absolute favourite in Korea and we really love these traditional

places lets go get some

we've ordered a couple of handles of beer this is an ice cold Cass one of my

favourite beers to have when in Korea it's really, a simple beer, a very Asian beer

I like to think of it just great for just drinking, it goes down really easily

but the star of the show is this chicken so I love these restaurants because you

order a whole chicken but they're very small so you can see the leg there

like it's tiny there's nothing to it we've got those golden, two chickens here

actually this two whole chickens which have pretty much been double fried so

they're sitting out the front of the restaurant in big piles of chicken and

then when you order they re-fry them so they get really golden and

crispy and then they just get whacked with scissors into pretty much quarters and

then piled onto your plate with nothing more than a little bit of salt on the

side and the thing I love about these restaurants and this golden chicken is

how simple this is for fried chicken often Korean fried chicken or chimaek so

fried chicken and beer it's sort of tricked up a little bit so small bits of

chicken with a honey sauce or a sweet soy sauce or you know something like

that going on, this is in its purity just batter, fried chicken and a beer oh and

we've got some some pickled radish to go with it which cuts through the through

the fried chicken perfectly but let's try some of this chicken so I've got a

little leg here it's super crispy feeling, I've just gotta dive in

ohhh, ohhh

crunchy on the outside but then super juicy that flesh, it's so juicy just

falls off the bone oh that is so good you can see how juicy

it looks, let's have another big bite of this look oh look at that

oh that's gonna be good, oh man it's definitely oily but it's not over oily like

fried chicken should be, oh that is good and of course a sip of beer to go with it

ohhhhhh oh this is a good meal let's grab one

of these radishes so these are just cubed and then pickled in a brine or

pickled in a vinegar and sugar syrup let's get a one little cube pop

that in it's gonna be nice and crunchy and tangy, mmm perfect, cuts through the fattiness from the

chicken, I've gotta have one more big bite, let's just rip this apart, oh look at

that we'll dip it in that salt that they give you so a little bit of a dip on the

edge pop it in oh man

Oh that is good, so juicy this is such a great way to have it and these restaurants are

often quite buzzy filled with middle-aged men this one's not actually

filled like that at the moment but that is how you'll notice these, chickens out

the front on the street, filled with guys drinking often soju and beer at the same

time- perfect combo here in Korea and piles of fried chicken on their table

these restaurants are all over Seoul but we will put directions to this one down

below like we always do, oh this is a good plate of fried chicken

our next stop is for one of my favourite Korean dishes and one that you have to

try too when you're in South Korea it's called

sundubu jjigae which is soft tofu stew let's go and grab a bowl

"annyeonghaseyo"

our bubbling stone pots of sundubu jjigae or soft tofu stew has arrived and holy moly it

looks so good, you can see here these soft curds of fresh soft tofu

they look so wobbly and silky there's a tonne of chilli or chilli paste which has

been used to make the stew there's some spring onions oh look at that chilli oil

whoa this is gonna pack a punch and what I ordered was the seafood one so there

should be some seafood hanging about okay so I can spot an oyster there and

what else have we got, whoa look at how beautiful the tofu just

breaks apart okay all I can see is oysters at this stage but there's bound

to be something in there alright let's just try this, this is one of my

favourite dishes in Korea it is so warming, it's belly warming and it's so satisfying

especially when it's minus three degrees in Seoul

all right let's just try this stew, so this is just the soup bit ohhhh it's

fiery and it's also very hot so the dish is actually assembled in the pot and

cooked in the pot, let's give this soft tofu a go, it's just, it looks like curds

actually let's try it

mmmm, mmm, mmm mmmmm

it's really really soft and it just breaks apart in your mouth that is so satisfying so with the

sundubu jiigae meal we also got some rice and then also banchan and at this

restaurant you can go and help yourself to as much banchan or side dishes as

you like so here we've got some mustard greens which has got some sesame seeds

in it I can see, there's some kimchi so fermented pickled cabbage, there's some gim

or dried seaweed and then there's some rolled omelet, let's just give this tofu stew

another go, I'm gonna try some of that seafood so let's grab one of these

oysters give it a bit of a blow because it's very very hot, all right let's try this

it's quite a small oyster, ohhh it just bursts with flavour, it's also soaked up a little bit of that soup

so it's got a nice fiery

taste from that chilli but then it's got just a really beautiful smooth seafood

taste just that real hit of oyster flavour that is so good, we've got to get

into this, this sticky rice and these banchan are gonna go perfect with this bowl of soft tofu stew

and as I was

digging around in my sundubu jjigae I found an egg so they must have cracked a

raw egg into the stew as it was cooking let's just break it...whoaaaaa look at that yolk

it is perfectly cooked oh my gosh that is gonna add so much creaminess to the

sundubu jiigae I can't wait to get in

next up we're gonna pop into this

restaurant for a very popular Korean dish, samgyetang or ginseng chicken

let's go check it out

we've got this steaming hot bowl of ginseng chicken in

front of us and look at it sitting in this stone bowl so it's very hot

swimming in this broth which looks like a really nice chicken-y broth and then

the chicken itself has just been poached in that broth you can see it's a very

small, small bird I'll just turn it round because it's actually stuffed so you can

see there the big ginseng root sticking out the back of the chicken and I think

there'll be rice inside there as well you can see how they've sealed it by

crossing its legs, over tucking them all in and then on top we've got some sesame

seeds, some sunflower seeds, some pumpkin seeds I can actually see some pine nuts

swimming around in the broth here and then there's just some green onions cut

on top or some spring onions and that's it so let's try the broth to start off

give it a go

whoa it's really hot oh but it's really good I had a pinenut

in there so that was kind of creamy cause it's been sitting in the broth it's got

a great chicken taste, I'm just gonna have a bit more but I'm gonna blow on it this time

so I can taste it a bit more, oh it's got a great chicken-y taste that broth but it's

not over the top, there's sort of a herbaceous taste going on in there as

well from that ginseng let's rip into this chicken, whoa

yes look at the stuffing, so it looks like there's some some dates in there

some red dates oh that's just breaking apart when I touch it, so that's

the brown colour you're seeing, there's lots of that sticky rice going on and

then there's that big ginseng root which is hiding in under the broth there I

just want to get a big spoon got a nice piece of chicken, got some rice some

seeds and some date let's go

bit of a bone sorry ohhh the chicken is so tender, the flavours in this are really

amazing because they're, they're very simple there's no massive bold hits of

flavour just a nice chicken flavour, it's not over-the-top it just has

those herbs and the rice flavour, the date it's all there but it's not

overpowering, now I want to try because there's a bit of a like

selection of banchan so some cabbage kimchi and some radish kimchi on the

table but there's this spicy sauce so I want to get a little bit of this sauce

and pop it in my little container over here and they always give you salt and

pepper on the table so I'm gonna put a bit of that in with that sauce just mix it

around create like a little, a little swimming pool just so I can try and

liven up a mouthful so I'll wrap a big bit of breast off the chicken, got that

we'll get some broth on my spoon, dunk the chicken into that sauce, look at that

just a little mouthful let's give that a go

whoa now that, that takes it up a level the, the chilli paste has a

little bit of a sweetness a little tang and spice from the chilli, it's not hot

at all but it just has a little tang of heat, the chicken, because it's such a

simple flavour it just takes on that, that chilli sauce so well, the chicken's a

little bit chewy to be honest but I think once you combine this all up and make

sure you eat it with some broth and mouthfuls of rice, it is a beautiful

dish and so warming in this heat but it's actually a dish they eat in summer more

because they believe the ginseng helps when your body's hot like in the hot

weather but it's perfect in winter too, when we're here now and I think minus

2 degrees under freezing today so it works a treat

something else this dish

came with is this ginseng liquor so I'm gonna have a little sip of this and see

how it is, ohhhhh yeah that's strong, that's got a good little kick of alcohol it actually

tastes like a whisky, sort of a mild whisky, oh that's gonna be

really good as a combination just little sips of that every now and then just to

warm up the tongue and keep those taste buds alive, really good meal, simple but

great flavours you know, the flavours are what they are, really really tasty

and that broth there's not gonna be any left when we're done with this meal because

it's great

food next stop on our Seoul food tour is for a dish of dakgalbi

which is a spicy marinated stir-fried chicken dish

so this is dakgalbi! You can see here that it is marinated chicken so this chicken has been marinated in

this red sauce and it's a gochujang based sauce gochujang is a fermented

chilli paste that is really prevalent in Korean cooking and then there's a tonne

of vegetables in here so there's some cabbage and there's perilla leaves and

basically you just cook it at the table so we're sitting here, traditional style

cross-legged on the floor with these low tables and then we've got the huge hot

plate in front of us and it is just sizzling away and the smell coming off

of this thing are amazing

so that sauce is just coating all of those ingredients and I've also spied some

rice cakes in there as well as some slices of sweet potato, now what is

really special about this restaurant is that for the chicken they only use

chicken drumstick meat so that's supposed to mean that the chicken is gonna be super

tender I cannot wait to try it, so you can see

that all the vegetables have wilted down and everything is just coated in that

gochujang sauce I'm gonna go right in and just grab a piece of that chicken

and try it cause it looks so good, let's try it

that chicken is so tender, that piece had a bit of the skin attached to

it so you've got the fattiness of the skin and then

that meat is just so soft, it's got a really nice coating of

that gochujang sauce so it's a little bit spicy, a little bit sweet, quite savoury

we've also got these lettuce wraps here so what I'm gonna do is just grab one of these and make

myself a bit of a wrap so I'm gonna get some cabbage and another piece of that

chicken and then I'm gonna add this piece of raw garlic here and then round

here we've also got some different banchan or sides so this here are some

chives I think covered in what looks to be sesame seeds and also some chilli

sauce so I'm gonna add those to my lettuce wrap as well and give that a

go, it's gonna be a really huge mouthful

I might have to do it in two

bites

that is brilliant, the lettuce is really crunchy you've

got the zing from the garlic and then that chicken and that cabbage is just so tasty

just really infused with that chilli sauce, this is one delicious dish so

there's a second phase to dakgalbi and that is to take what you have left

of your chicken and cabbage and vegetable mixture and to add some rice

to it, so what the guy has done is he's added a bowl of rice together with some

dried seaweed and chopped up lettuce and he's chopped up the remaining chicken

and cabbage that was in our pot and then mixed it all up and flattened it so it's

almost like a chicken and rice pancake and it's bubbling away in our

pan right now

the chicken fried rice pancake has been sizzling away for about a minute

and I reckon it's ready so I'm just gonna grab a spoonful of that and give it a

go

mmmm wow that seaweed flavour is really strong the rice has gone almost sticky

and crunchy that is such an awesome ending to this dakgalbi feast

and we came to this restaurant because it's actually Michelin recommended and I

can see why, this was an amazing dakgalbi feast

another meal you have got to eat when you're in South Korea is Korean BBQ, let's go and get our barbecue

feast on

so we've sat down at our table and with Korean barbecue you cook the meat yourself

so there'll always be a grill on the

table so as soon as we sat down the staff came and popped some piping hot coals

into the middle of the table and now it's time to check out the menu

all right so it's all go, beers have arrived, they've been poured

and our banchan has arrived, banchan are side dishes so we've got a whole range here

we've got some cabbage and some spring onions I think in a chilli sauce

there's some perilla leaves, some onion, some lettuce, some chilli

the leaves are usually used for wraps, we've got some soup which has got some seaweed

we've got some dipping sauces, some mustard greens and then some cabbage kimchi

now Korean barbecue is always a raucous affair

you can probably hear behind me the background noise so everyone's laughing

everyone's drinking, you've got the sizzle of the meat on the grill and speaking of sizzle we've also got our meat

so we have ordered some

pork belly and also some thinly sliced marinated pork

and with Korean barbecue restaurants you'll usually find that the meat option tend to be either pork or beef

so we've got the pork belly here on the grill, look at this fat, it's just sizzling away

and I've just turned the meat so this side has become all golden, crispy and hopefully super juicy

and that's just gonna cook away

now you'll see Korean barbecues always have these big extractor fans and that's obviously just to suck up all of that smoke and smell

that's coming off the grill, it smells so good

so you'll often get given a pair of

scissors with Korean barbecue and that's just so that you can cut the meat up

into bite size pieces and it makes it easier to wrap the meat up in the lettuce

I reckon the pork is ready, it's all crispy, it's golden so it's time to eat

so I'm gonna start with a wrap, I'm gonna grab one of these perilla leaves

and then grab a piece of that juicy looking pork, pop it in the leaf, grab some of this ssamjang

so ssamjang is fermented soybean paste and also

chilli, so I'm just gonna swipe...they're just changing our grills over, so you can see that where we were cooking

it's gotten all burnt so they're just popping a new

grill on so that the meat doesn't get all black and charred all right so I'm grabbing some of the ssamjang

and then I'm gonna just like, pop a whole raw garlic clove

in here as well that is going to be some fiery stuff, okay so just wrap it up

and pop it in my gob

mmmmmm mmm mmmm mmmm wow so the meat is really juicy

it's quite crispy, that ssamjang is a little bit of chilli but overall it's quite a savoury, salty flavour

and then you've got the hit of raw garlic, that perilla leaf is quite aniseed like

so it's got a bit of a tingle and a tang going on, whoa that is really good meat

the bulgogi is looking so good on the grill so I'm gonna grab one of these perilla

leaves and make a little wrap out of this as well oh look at it, such thin pieces

of meat, so should be super tender it took almost no time to cook that up

let's get three nice pieces on there oh it's all golden we'll get some of this

ssamjang sauce this is my favourite thing because it's fermented soybean so

it's a little bit tangy, a tiny bit spicy, I'm gonna lay that all on there then

I'm gonna get some of this cabbage and chive mixture which has got chilli on it

we'll put a little bit of that on there and I'm gonna go super on this one I'm

gonna add some kimchi as well so we've got that fermented cabbage kimchi here

let's get just a little bit of that, pop that right on top of that wrap, wrap it

up make it into a little present for my mouth, let's go, one mouthful

oh man, mmm, whoa, it was a big mouthful, that meat is incredible

it is so tender, the pork belly that

Sheena had, dried out quite quickly it's an incredible flavour bit it's

a little bit tougher then that meat, that meat is just as soft as butter

unbelievable the taste of the perilla leaf, I've got a

half here, quite an interesting looking leaf and Sheena

spoke about the taste of these an aniseed flavour and it's a strong flavour

the reason we have a half here is because sometimes you just want to have a half because

it's a strong flavour, it's really tasty, what I love about this restaurant and

most of these restaurants you can always ask for more of anything that's on the,

on the banchan, so all these side dishes, this restaurant has a banchan station so

you can just go and load up all of these bowls with whatever you need extra on

top of what you got initially what a mouthful, that was so good I love this way of

eating

Korean barbecue feast done you absolutely have to eat Korean barbecue

Trung Quốc Thâm Nhập Hy Lạp Ra Sao | Trung Quốc Không Kiểm Duyệt - Duration: 10:52.

On this episode of China Uncensored,

how the Chinese Communist Party is infiltrating Greece.

Hi, welcome to China Uncensored.

I'm Chris Chappell.

What do you do when you're burdened by debt

and on the verge of bankruptcy?

You move back into your parents basement

or if you're a country, you ask China for help.

And that's exactly what Greece is doing.

But when you're feeling desperate,

do you really make the wisest choices?

Shelly Zhang reports from Athens.

Thanks Chris.

Greece, the cradle of Western civilization,

home of gorgeous islands,

big fat weddings

and a pantheon of gods straight out of a daytime soap opera.

And also the worst government debt crisis in any developed country.

One that led to 13 rounds of spending cuts,

a new government

and 30,000 euros of debt for every Greek citizen.

Greece needed a hero

and an unlikely one emerged to save the day...

sort of,

the Chinese Communist Party.

For decades, the party has wanted to get a political foothold in Europe.

But it's been difficult because of the European Union's powerful influence.

But in late 2009,

Greece entered an era best described as

"Holy Zeus we have no more money!"

It became clear that Greece might not be able

to pay back those billions of dollars

it had borrowed from the rest of the EU.

So it was basically a situation

where after the Greek financial crisis,

nobody wanted to swipe right on Greece anymore?

Nobody wanted to lend money to the Greek government anymore.

john Psaropolous is an independent journalist

who has covered Greece for two decades.

He says that as the EU backed off from Greece,

China started to move in.

Think of it as a friendship

within the generation of people

who go back at least 3,000 years.

Hmm, yes, let's be friends because we have so much in common, babe.

Like we haven't heard that one before

am i right ladies?

The CCP's courtship started in about 2009

but it got serious in 2015

after the Greeks elected Alexis Tsipras as Prime Minister.

At first, the CCP was concerned

because Tsipras' party was radical leftist,

they were afraid Greece might not be open to Chinese investment anymore.

And the CCP knows better than anyone

- never trust a communist.

But it turned out there was mutual affection,

Tsipras was very interested in Chinese investment.

Hey just because we're both communists

doesn't mean we can't make a little profit right?

Prime Minister Tsipras immediately bent over backwards to be friends with China.

Just 24 days after taking office,

Tsipras welcomed a Chinese warship to the Greek port of Piraeus.

He told Chinese officials that

he wants Greece to serve as China's gateway into Europe

Tsipras even flew to China twice.

Once in 2016 and then again in 2017.

Look, I know it looks like the same trip.

But Tsipras only owns one nice outfit, okay?

Greece is short on cash.

Behind me is Piraeus port, just outside Athens.

It's the largest port in Greece

and one of the largest in the Mediterranean.

In 2016, the Greek government allowed Chinese state-owned shipping giant - Cosco

to buy a 51% stake here

for three hundred and thirty million dollars.

Within five years, they will own 67%.

Costco had already been renting part of the port since 2008.

Now they effectively own it.

The Chinese government is building Piraeus

into a key gateway to move Chinese products

into the rest of Europe.

They call it a "Dragon Head" for the One Belt One Road initiative

the series of massive infrastructure projects

that aims to export Chinese goods around the world.

I visited the Dockworkers Union

and sat down with Giorgos Gogos.

We took the management of a very profitable organization

in a very strategic place in Mediterranean Sea.

for a very low price.

Yes, Chinese people know a good deal when they see one.

But Mr. Gogos is concerned

that letting a Chinese company take over the Greek port

was maybe not such a great idea.

Sure, things are a lot more efficient from Costco's perspective .

They've cut salaries dramatically

and moved a lot of full-time workers to being on-call.

But the work is more demanding and with less job security.

I think it's a big mistake from European Union

and the Americans

that are leaving space for Chinese companies to enter.

But we are too small to deal with these things.

Even captain Fu Chen Chow, the Chinese guy who runs the port,

admitted that selling Piraeus port to Costco

maybe wasn't such a smart move on Greece's part.

Apart from this, he said that in China,

we wouldn't privatize such a port because it's a big asset.

But Chinese investment doesn't stop at the port,

I think Cosco has opened the door.

It's a state-owned company, it has deep pockets,

it has a close relationship with the government.

That signals to other Chinese companies

that if their investment does well,

Greece is okay to invest in.

In December last year,

China bought a 24% stake in Greece's public power grid operator.

While Prime Minister Tsipras was in Beijing in May 2017,

he signed an agreement with a Chinese firm

that will invest half a billion dollars over seven years

to build a fiber optic telecommunications network in Greece.

And in September,

Greece honored China at the Thessaloniki International Fair.

Six thousand square feet of pavilion space

was dedicated to Chinese companies.

Now from an economic standpoint,

the relationship between China and Greece over the last few years

has been mostly positive.

Who doesn't love cheap handbags made in China?

And millennia of Greek history made in China?

Even Mr. Gogos' Union,

which has had issues with Cosco in the past

is willing to work with the Chinese

as long as they are willing to adapt.

I think now, if they want to have a better face in Greek society,

we have to respect certain things.

And among these things

are labor relations, environmental issues

and national sovereignty of the country.

So could this become a friendship

that's mutually respectful and beneficial?

Well, like every friends with benefits relationship,

it eventually gets complicated,

am i right ladies?

Well, the political ramifications of China's investments in Greece remain to be seen.

At the moment it's just business.

But business is never just business forever,

particularly what it is, a state condemned.

There's growing concern in Europe over Greece's relationship with China.

It's kind of like watching your best friends start dating this guy.

Let's just say the CCP might not be in the best influence.

For example, in July 2016,

Greece was one of only two EU countries

that sided with the CCP after a controversial South China Sea court ruling.

And in June 2017,

Greece stopped the EU from condemning the CCP's human rights abuses.

And then opposed the EU

doing tougher screenings of Chinese investments in Europe.

So there is a European concern now,

about what the pattern of Chinese investments going to be?

How much power Chinese investments will have,

taken as a whole, as a sum.

Now ironically, it was the EU that had forced Greece to privatize,

to sell off some of their state-owned assets

as part of their debt repayment.

But now that the buyer is the CCP,

the EU is having sellers remorse.

Now China isn't just investing in Greece,

but in many other Eastern European countries as well.

And that's causing enough alarm for the EU

to take a closer look at these deals.

Meanwhile, Greece is still a little upset at the EU

so they're not exactly taking the EU's warning seriously.

I don't think that the Greeks are afraid of too much Chinese influence

at the moment.

They're happy to have a country, a major country

an upcoming superpower, really, in the world,

been interested in them,

and have seen Greece is a promising place.

That's always nice to be nice.

It's always nice to be nice,

particularly when your old friend criticize you.

And the chinese have seen that opportunity,

they've seen the changing psychology in Greece.

that isn't lost for them.

Look, I understand,

it's been a tough few years you've lost a lot of jobs,

you're going through a big recession

you've gained a few million extra pounds of... debt

and here comes this exciting new guy.

He definitely wants a strategic investment partner with benefits kind of relationship.

And you have a lot in common,

like you're both ancient civilizations.

And everything's going fine.

He doesn't care about your bad reputation,

he's showering you with investments.

And okay, your friends are trying to warn you about this guy

but they don't know him like you do.

And no, he didn't ask you to stop them from

pointing out his human rights problems.

That's just what you do when you're in a relationship, right?

Look, I'm not telling you to break up with him,

that's your business.

I'm saying you're like 3,000 years old.

It's time to pull yourself together,

you've got to figure out if this is the kind of relationship you really want.

Just think about it, okay?

Or not?

Thanks Shelly for taking time out of your vacation to do this story.

Look like you had a really marvelous time.

I crack myself up.

So what do you think of Greece's relationship with China,

friends with benefits or something more?

Let me know in the comments below.
