Super exciting.. it's like Christmas in Steve's kitchen today, I've got myself a
new toy in the kitchen and I want to announce a new series. We used to do a
Smoothie Tuesday series. it was heaps of fun. I ran it for about a year maybe a
year and a half a couple of years back. I'm going to start a new healthy smoothie
series. When we left Australia I gave a lot of my equipment away to my kids and
so we've been looking for a new blender. Now I do need to make a full disclosure
statement here because a lot of you know I'm a big Breville fan my last blender
was Breville, a lot of our equipment here we've unboxed in the past has also been
Breville but this particular blender Breville sent out to me, so they've given
it to me for this new series and we're going to test it. So I just want you to know
about that. Now look at this we have the Breville boss blender, they call it The
Boss because it's the top of their range, but look at the box
I love the Breville boxes, they're gorgeous, has sort of plummy color, really
high-quality, got that sort of Apple quality feeling to the packaging. So how
do you make frozen desserts from fresh, nut butters, milled flours, soy milks, hot
soups and of course green smoothies. Now what else can I tell you from the
outside... oh it has a 2,200 watt high powered and high torque motor, OneTouch
programming, a 2 litre dishwasher safe jug, which is BPA free of course and a 7
year limited warranty, so that's pretty good. I need to get this open, let's get
the the lid off, got a few of their other appliances on here, got to get my hands
on some of these. We have a warranty bits and pieces there, I won't go through that.
What is this here, looks like we've got a book as well, a little cookbook all
cellophane wrapped here. I'll open that and take a look in a moment. I'm going to
pop this on the floor so I can get it out. Here we go, it's all foam wrapped,
which way up does this thing go. I can see the big jug, now this is the 2 litre
jug here and the main body of the unit is at the bottom. Now in the side here
this particular model comes.... wow that is really hefty. This is a pusher to put
the... sort of pound things down and something else here
it's a blade, it's like a fairly heavy looking silicon blade, the lid of course.
Okay so it's got the usual removable center column and it's got this sort of
ring pull on it as well. Now this is the main unit, this feels solid and heavy.
This is a powerful 2200 watt motor with OneTouch functions. Now my model of
course has come with a beautiful ozzie plug on it. These are available worldwide
I think every plug combination, I will leave some links down below so that you
can check them out maybe on Amazon if you want to. I should try and have a chat
with Breville to see if I can get some sort of discount code for subscribers, if
I do find something I'll put it down in the description. One of the things I love
about the Breville is this sort of bowl spherical base that it has and I always
think if you're whisking something up you use a Bowl you don't use a square bucket
or a vase to mix it in and that's one of the beauties, it's also got this very
unusual blade inside. It's got a I think they call it a pro kinetix, so the bottom
blade is going around the side or the bowl at the bottom and then they've got
two other blades or three other blades should I say, sticking up at different
angles which will help blend the produce inside. Now that pretty much is about it.
We've got this nice snug fitting rubberized top, keep all the juices in if
you're doing blending. Now this is something new this wasn't with my other
blender it's got a pusher, so you can get in there if you've got some awkward
little bits you can sort of move this around and I think that's a welcome
addition to to my last blender. It is a BPA Free, very sturdy BPA-free vase or
glass. My last one was actually made of glass and I quite liked that but I'll
see how we get on with this BPA free, this is really sturdy so I'm really well
equipped. Now I know that on the box there it had a green smoothie
I'm going to check out the the blending book that came with this and let's see
if we can't knock ourselves up a really nice green smoothie to give this a test
but don't forget we're going to be doing a whole new series of healthy smoothies,
every Tuesday on Steve's kitchen for the foreseeable future and this is a way of
me detoxing getting a bit healthier. So if you want to join me on that journey
you'll be seeing a whole series of really delicious smoothies on Tuesday in
Steve's kitchen so get used to the waistcoat, I think you're going to be seeing
it quite a lot. Now I was really excited by the picture on the front of the box,
it's not in the recipe book, so we're just going to call this a healthy green
smoothie. I can see it's got cucumber, celery, there's some grapes, almonds
avocado and kale. So it's going to taste pretty good. Now talking about
almonds, there's a recipe in the book for almond milk. So I think I might make that
my first project before we start the smoothies. So join me in a couple of days
on the first Tuesday and we're going to make Almond Milk, let's see what fresh
almond milk tastes like. In the meantime we're going to make ourselves a healthy
green smoothie. So we're really just winging this, I've got some cucumber, I'm
going to take maybe four slices of cucumber, pop that into my
freshly-cleaned jug. Now we've got celery or so I'm just going to roughly chop this
up. Doesn't need to be too tiny. Now we want a little bit of ice in there so
I've got some some ice, we'll start with a little bit in the bottom. Some grapes
to sweeten it. I'm just going to pop some of these in it hmm lovely and sweet
probably about half a cup of seedless grapes. Let's take a handful of almonds.
I got myself a little Avocado oh I hope it's fairly ripe yep it feels okay, just
going to put the knife around, give it a little twist open. Now
the avocado yeah it's fairly ripe actually, that's beautiful. So I'm just
going to put that piece in there too, get the pip out of the center, so both sides of
the avocado into our blender and some beautiful rich in iron and minerals, kale.
Pop that in the top, a few more Almonds because I can, a little bit of ice on top.
Now I'm going to guess we need a splash of water, I'm not going to put too much in
maybe a couple of tablespoons, pop the lid on nice and tight. Now I haven't used
this blender before we just turn the power on
it's got pulse ice crush, smoothies, green smoothies, frozen desserts and soup. It's
also got an auto clean I see there. Of course we're going to go with the green
smoothie and let it do all the work for us.
Well that's neat it's done it all for me, I didn't even need the stick to knock
anything down. We use this little pull handle here to take off the stick, that
looks beautiful and smooth. So my very first green smoothie with The Boss, the
Breville Boss let's pour that into a glass. Man that looks silky smooth, I'd love to
hear your thoughts down below because I really need this healthy smoothie series
in my life right now, we're eating a lot of really rich food. Looking forward to
giving this a try. So it's smooth it's silky here goes oh wow that is silky
silky smooth, it's quite sweet it's so delicious. Now I'm going to be looking at
ways we can sort of beef this up to make it a breakfast smoothie, change the
colors, change the textures, change the flavors. I'd love to hear anyone who

clean on here and I've just had a quick look up apparently a couple of cups of
water, about five hundred mils, a drop of soap and this will clean itself. So
let's give it a try and by the way that green smoothie was so so good. So let's
give it a go. We've got two two cups of water one they, two slightly warm
water seems to be best, just a drop of detergent no more than that. Now I've
left the lid dirty as well we'll see how it goes, pop the lid on nice and tight.
Let's see what this baby does.
Now it did a really good job, it's pushing it right up into the lid as well
but I think I left too much green smoothie in there to be honest because
although it's given it quite a good clean, the water is filthy. I should
probably just rinsed it out first, I'm going to give it another go once I've given
this a rinse and see how it comes out. Okay I've rinsed that out a little bit
we're going to put the water in again, tiny dash of soap. Let's give it another
go and that is it. Yes I think a little bit of a rinse would help the top is
beautiful and clean. So it's a nice little feature, you can just pop that on
at the end. Leave it to do its own thing, give this
soap a little rinse out, pop it on the side and you're ready to go. Now I
decided to give it a clean water rinse as well just to finish it off
and that's just to make sure there's no soap in it. It's ready for the next
