Today is #WisdomRevival Wednesday.
It's is a series of daily devotionals for women.
We are talking about
how to overcome self-doubt
with wisdom.
I remember being paralyzed by self-doubt
in 2016 after Michel and I got married
and he abandoned the marriage right away
saying all he wants
is to be an IronMan and
compete in Kona.
And he filed for a divorce
4 months after our wedding.
Not only only did I experience self-doubt
but also debilitating depression
and scary suicidal thoughts.
I couldn't trust myself.
And here's why...
On 1/31/2016 Michel proposed to me
and I said YES with confidence.
It was a cold Sunday afternoon.
Michel came back from a business trip in Seattle.
We had our premarital counseling group session at church that evening scheduled
so we were right there
at Perimeter Church
eating the picnic
I prepared for us
knowing that Michel was exhausted
after his travel
and work.
When Michel knelt before me, that afternoon,
not only did I say YES to his marriage proposal
but I also said this:
Michel,
you are the most Christ-like man
I've ever met.
With your behaviors,
actions and interactions with me and others,
you've exhibited the fruit of the spirit
- and I named the 9 -
and I'll be honored
to spend the rest of my life
with you.
Michel worked at a mega-church in Alpharetta and he portrayed himself a seminary graduate
who loved Jesus.
So, you can imagine the size of the deception
I realized I was lured into
when after our wedding night
Michel switched his priorities
and abandoned the marriage.
I remember as if it were yesterday:
our master bedroom,
I'm sitting on the side of the bed,
he's sitting on the floor
and saying to me:
I'm not interested in this marriage,
all I want is to be an IronMan...
I felt confused,
devastated,
stupid,
and worthless in that miserable marriage with Michel
where I was exposed to mental cruelty Daily
and suffered
so much self-doubt.
James 1:5 says this:
If any of you lacks wisdom,
you should ask God.
And so, I did.
I found free Biblical counseling and started having weekly sessions on WEDNESDAYS.
Yes!
It's not by accident I call our daily devotional
on Wednesday
#WisdomRevival
My Biblical counselor
gave me homework every week
to focus my mind on what God says about how I should act in my situation.
1 Corinthians 1:30 says this:
It is because of him
that you are in Christ Jesus,
who has become for us wisdom from God—
that is,
our righteousness,
holiness
and redemption.
We have access to God's infinite intelligence
and can make wise decisions
if we tap into that wisdom
through Jesus.
We just need to pray and ask.
And that is it.
This is my secret for you today.
When in self-doubt,
do these 3 things:
- Seek to understand what the Bible says on the topic of your self-doubt
- Ask God to help you make a wise decision
- Listen to the Holy Spirit in you and obey
James 3:17 says this:
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure;
then peace-loving, considerate,
submissive, full of mercy and good fruit,
impartial
and sincere.
So, once you get your answer
about the decision you need to make,
you'll have peace.
Having peace INSTEAD of self-doubt
is how you'll know that it's the Holy Spirit speaking,
that the decision you're making
is guided by God.
I promised to share 2 christian affirmations with you today.
The first one is about wisdom itself.
It's devotional #30 out of the #52Devotionals ebook I created for you.
You can download it absolutely free
- the link in in video description below.
It's called I am wise and it's based on
1 Corinthians 1:30,
Isaiah 11:2
and James 1.
I am wise and I show a good judgement.
Jesus has become for me wisdom from God.
My experiences for the hope of others are meant.
My wisdom is with the Holy Spirit intact.
Like we said, when you do tap into God's wisdom,
you'll feel peace
and not self-doubt.
To help remind you about that pure Heavenly peace mentioned in James 3:17,
I created this Biblical affirmation:
I have peace in every way.
It is perfect.
It is sacred.
All the time my Lord is near,
And by Him my life's directed.

The link is in the video description below.
To bring it all together,
remember the 3 Steps of conquering your self-doubt:
- Study the Bible on the topic of your concern
- Ask God for wisdom
- And listen to God speak to you through the Holy Spirit
