Todd McFarlane's long-in-the making Spawn reboot inched one step closer to becoming
more than just speculative fan service and moving toward becoming a reality.
On Friday, McFarlane offered what he referred to as a "sneak peek" at the upcoming reboot
on Twitter.
"Here is a tease of a (partial) early scene from the latest SPAWN Movie script," "Will
be getting you some big news soon!!"
The brief pull of screenplay showed a scene between two detectives named "Danny" and
"Twitch."
During an interview with Brandon Davis of Comicbooks.com at New York Comic Con, McFarlane
confirmed the reboot would take place in New York City.
Aesthetically, the early peek at the script matches with what McFarlane told Complex about
the upcoming Blumhouse collaboration in early October.
From the teaser, McFarlane looks to be modeling, at least in some part, these new roles of
Danny and Twitch on the characters Sam and Twitch, the two NYPD officers and allies of
Spawn who were mainstays throughout the series.
Kevin Smith is actually doing a series for BBC America based on Sam and Twitch, so it'll
be interesting to see what McFarlane does what these new characters.
With locations still being scouted and no casting announcements, fans will have to hope
for the occasional Twitter update while the reboot is in production.
But, for now, there is at least some confirmation that McFarlane's vision will be returning
to the big screen for the first time since 1997.
