Hello guys! It's Ingrid's Ingredients.
Today we're gonna share one story about:
Everybody loves NYC
A life lesson from a stranger.
When I was a newbie in NYC,
I felt confused about everything, at that time
my life was a mess, because I knew nothing about NYC
and that was the first time I left my family and had an independent life
Was I happy? No.
I felt helpless when I was alone
I went to school every day and
you know, life was busy at learning from school
and adjusting to the new environment.
Especially in such a big city in this world.
I was like a total outsider.
I usually slept only 4 hours at that time
so my eyes and my brain sometimes felt so
exhausted.
One day, I went to a Subway
and wanted to get a coffee to raise myself up.
Unluckily,
I was too tired to listen and talk
my ears seemed to be closed
and the sounds I made were very slow.
I couldn't even focus on reading the menu.
When the staff asked me: "What can I do for you?"
my ears just stopped working
so I asked this black guy more than three times
"E-excuse me ..." and also felt embarrassed.
So I said: "I-I'm really sorry, and I'm too stupid"
to hear what his question was.
This guy suddenly stopped his actions
and talked to me very seriously:
"Never use the 'stupid' word to talk about yourself"
I almost wanted to cry at that time
because, try to think about it, when we face our boss
professor, or anyone in our lives.
These authorities always point out something that's
wrong, to make you feel extremely sorry, and like
"I'm the stupidest person in this space"
Therefore,
I really felt happy and warm to meet this gentleman
who taught me a life lesson when I got lost.
This thing happened more than 6 or 7 years ago
but I still remind myself of it very often.
Yes, I still do some things wrong
but I have the courage
to correct my faults and stay brave to live every day
I share this story to remind people who may lack of confidence
and if you, the Subway gentleman in New York City, hear this
I stand here bravely and feel grateful to you forever
Now it's time to say cheers
meet me next time, and don't forget to subscribe to me
See me next time, bye bye!
