How to refine Refine web searches. You can use symbols or words in your search, to make your search results more precise.

Google Search usually ignores punctuation that isn't part of a search operator. Don't put spaces between the symbol or word

and your search term. A search for site:nytimes.com will work, but site: nytimes.com won't.

The following are Common search techniques, to refine web result from your search.

Search social media. Put @ in front of a word to search social media. For example: @twitter.

Search for a price. Put $ in front of a number. For example: camera $400.

Search hashtags. Put # in front of a word. For example: #throwbackthursday.

Exclude words from your search. Put - in front of a word you want to leave out. For example, jaguar speed –car.

Search for an exact match. Put a word or phrase inside quotes. For example, "tallest building".

Search for wildcards or unknown words. Put a * in your word or phrase where you want to leave a placeholder. For example, "largest * in

the world". Search within a range of numbers.

Put .. between two numbers. For example, camera $50..$100.

Combine searches Put "OR" between each search query. For example, marathon OR race.

Search for a specific site. Put "site:" in front of a site or domain. For example, site:youtube.com or site:.gov.

Search for related sites. Put "related:" in front of a web address you already know. For example, related:time.com.

Get details about a site. Put "info:" in front of the site address.

See Google's cached version of a site. Put "cache:" in front of the site address.

The Grumpy Gardener's Field Guide To Mosquitoes | Southern Living - Duration: 4:42.

mosquitoes.

Hate 'em!

I hate mosquitoes.

You hate mosquitoes.

So how do we get rid of 'em.

Now why would your yard necessarily

have a lot of mosquitoes?

Number one, if you have any sources of still water.

But that could be a bird bath

that you don't empty very often.

It could simply be a pot of water

that has gathered from the rain.

Mosquitoes use this to breed in.

They can breed very quickly,

and they surround your home with a cloud of mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes in general are not strong fliers.

They don't like a lot of breeze.

Let's say you've surrounded your house on your yard

with a hedge, or you have a lot of vegetation

or a lot of brush around.

That's gonna lessen the wind around your yard.

Gonna make for nice still air

and the mosquitoes are gonna go right to ya.

So one trick you can use involves no chemicals at all.

It's called a fan.

Get yourself a nice strong fan,

direct the flow right at you,

and I promise, the mosquitoes are not gonna get you.

The most obvious thing you can do to combat mosquitoes

is use insect repellent.

The most effective

is one that has lots of the chemical Deet in it.

The reason that it works is

mosquitoes find you through the carbon dioxide

that you exhale in your breath.

When you spray this on your skin

it keeps the mosquitoes from noticing those things

and they don't land on you.

There's other things you can use.

There are mosquito repellents

that are based on a chemical called Picaridin.

There's also natural mosquito repellents

that are based on oils from plants,

like geranium, and rosemary.

Every time I use 'em and spray 'em on myself

I find that I smell like a Greek salad

from about a hundred yards away,

so I don't like to use those things.

You're gonna hear people try to sell you plants

called a mosquito repelling plant.

All you have to do is grow 'em in a pot,

put 'em up on your porch or deck,

and they're gonna keep mosquitoes away.

No, they are not!

I had one and I saw mosquitoes landing on it.

Mosquito repelling plants do not work!

Trust me.

You can use citronella candle.

Now the citronella oil

that comes up from the candle will work.

The problem is all of that aroma and chemical

has to be around you.

If the wind is blowing in the other direction

it'll keep mosquitoes from goin' there,

but it won't stop 'em from comin' to you.

So you have to be enveloped by all these aromatics

that come off the citronella candle

or it doesn't work.

Now probably the number one defense

that you're gonna see people using against mosquitoes

is also the stupidest defense.

And this is called the electric bug zapper.

You've seen 'em all over your neighborhood,

with those little black lights goin' on,

and they have this little electrical grid

and anything that flies in and hits the grid

pops up in a flash of flame as an electrocuted.

Drops down into a bag

and makes you feel all justified and happy,

"Ah, we nailed that one Vern!"

Well guess what?

Those things

do not kill mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes are not attracted to the light.

Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide in your breath.

So while it may make you feel good,

seeing everything immolate

and illuminate your entire yard

in this huge flame,

it's not gonna reduce your mosquito population.

But you know, sometimes

things get a little slow at night.

Need a little entertainment.

Gotta get my friends over here.

"Hey Vern, let's pop us up a cold one!

(can opening)

"Turn on that bug light.

"Wow, did you see that?

"That was as big as a washin' machine.

"Wow-ee!"

So having said all these really bad things about mosquitoes,

you might be wondering,

"Do they have any really good purpose in the world?"

Well they have one.

Their food for a lot of insects and fish and other animals.

But do I want 'em in my yard?

No!

(grumbling)

This wish pill is literally a wishing pill. You buy it, make a wish, and your wish will

come true! At $100 a pop, this pill seems like nothing less than a scam!

but the creators have done everything to make it look real, by describing elements, which

are not even found in nature! number 8. Child-Abuse! One of the most disgusting

parts of the deep web, no doubt about it! But if you think,

that this content is just involving pre-teens, who are slightly below the legal age, then

you are absolutely wrong. On the deep web, videos include little kids,

who are forced to do disturbing things! number 7!

If stealing isn�t your style, then you can hire a professional burglar on the dark web.

There are people on the deep web, who claim to steal anything that you would want!

Once they have acquired the object, they then send you a picture to confirm. and finally,

physically mail you the object when they have been paid in full. But make

no mistake, if you pay them any less than what was discussed,

you will never get what you asked for. Instead, that object will be put on sale online.

number 5! Human experimentation for money! There are some people on the deep web, who

claim to have people, in warehouses all around the world.

They have probably bought the people, trafficked them, or just kidnapped them from countries.

They advertise, that you can come, and experiment on these people for a fixed amount of money.

Since human experimentation is illegal in the world,

this is mainly used by people, to see how long a substance would take to kill someone,

or leave them unconscious. Sickening, but it still happens around the world.

number 4! Ghost and child spirits, from abortions and miscarriages. Now this is when things

get really weird. You can buy ghosts and spirits of deceased

children! But How does one put a value on a child�s spirit?

number 3! Legit credit card information! The deep web is filled with credit card numbers,

and PayPal credentials. Every other post, that you see on the deep

web, is about stolen credit cards. these credit cards are stolen from other websites,

and apart from the 16-digit number, you also get the expiry date, and PIN, to ensure, that

you can use these credit cards for anything you want.

There are also PayPal credentials available, with money still in them!

number 2! Sad Satan! Sad Satan is a perplexing, and psychologically unnerving game, with completely

mysterious origins. The graphics, from a purely technical standpoint,

are subpar, and the gameplay is seemingly pointless. you spend a fair amount of time

simply wandering down surreal and abstract hallways.

However, the screeching audio soundtrack, quite effectively crawls under your skin.

There are also arcane hidden images, and videos that emerge the longer you play.

and clips that seem to hint, at murders being committed by people in masks. Is this all

just random, atmospheric spooks, or is there a deeper meaning here?

number 1! a room, where people are tortured and killed, in highly perverse ways. it's

the Red room! Some even speculate that, for a price, you can act as the "director"

of the red room, and tell the torturer, exactly what to do to the victim.

The thing is, if you can locate a red room easily, it probably isn't real. The appeal

of the deep web, is its anonymity, so if something as perverse as a red room

actually exists, it is doubtful the orchestrators would put out a welcome mat.

Moreover, if you've genuinely witnessed a red room on the deep web, you wouldn't necessarily

admit it. Otherwise you'd be headed to jail.

All that said, the existence of a genuine red room is not that implausible.
