Click "ADD TO CHROME" button to install
Review permissions and click "Add extension" button
It will get installed within a moment Wait till you get a confirmation message
Jira Assistant is added to your browser we are ready to start using the tool
Let us close this tab and open a new tab
Click on the JA icon which will open a popup
enter the Jira url in the textbox provided and click Integrate button
or alternatively open the Jira url in your current tab
login to Jira from your browser to proceed
"Jira Assistant" will just use your browser's session it will not ask for credentials.
click on the "JA" icon again
now you will see the url is automatically filled
Click on "Integrate" button
"Jira Assistant" dashboard will be opened in a new tab
Welcome to "Jira Assistant" your are done with setup
a tour will guide you through the features the first time you open any of the pages
"Calendar/ Worklog" menu will let you add worklog and view meeting invites
"Reports" menu will contain list of reports currently available for you
"Settings" menu will let you customize the behaviour of "Jira Assistant" to your needs
"My Open Tickets" grid list all the open Jira tickets assigned to you
panel controls have grid specific options like maximize, export, refresh, etc..
"Bookmarks" grid list all the Jira tickets bookmarked by you
You will be able to view the worklog added by this tool grouped date wise
all the worklogs added will be listed here letting you to review and upload it
each page have page specific settings allowing you to customize the page
bookmark one or more ticket using the "Add Ticket" option of the "Bookmarks" grid
added ticket details will appear in the grid
count of recent tickets mentioning you will be displayed
view more details by clicking the icon
page settings contains option to choose the grid size mode as full or half screen
you can choose to view additional grid by selecting the checkbox
drag and drop the checkbox to reorder the grid the way you would like it
click on the "Calendar / Worklog" menu
change the view mode to weekly or daily
drag through the calendar in week or day mode
and provide ticket number and comments to add worklog
you can drag and drop the worklog entry to change date and time of worklog
"Alt" + drag drop will create copy of worklog
do you want to view the meetings?
click "Settings" menu -> "Meetings" tab
click "Allow integration" checkbox
Click the sign in link to integrate your google calendar with "Jira Assistant"
authenticate yourself with your google account
and click allow button to complete the integration
you will see success message upon successful integration
click "Save Settings" button to save your changes
navigate back to calendar to view your meeting entries
click on the time icon in the meeting entry to create worklog easily
need to make it even simple and faster?
go to "Settings" menu -> "Worklog" tab
and provide the default meeting ticket number and save the settings
back to calendar again
now clicking on the time icon will automatically generate worklog
all the details will be filled automatically
you can do this activity from "Month" view as well
you can show and hide the entries from page settings
you can show or hide the info about total hours logged
color of different types of entry can also be changed
any changes to the even will automatically update the hours logged
and variation in total hours logged will be highlighted with different color
each worklog entry has options to Edit, Upload or Delete the worklog
you difficult to do it one by one?
then go to dashboard
and do it all to gether from the Worklogs grid pending for upload
select required worklogs and choose the option you want to execute
Logged work grid will provide you the details of total hours logged and uploaded
You can choose a different date range to view the details grouped daywise
let us move on to reports
"User - Daywise" report displays worklog summary of one or more users
You can choose the user for whom you want to view the worklog summary report
Choose the date range to generate the report and wait till it is generated
Click on the user record to drill down to ticket wise details
add more users and click refresh icon to generate / view report for multiple users
you can drill down the individual user's record to view ticket details
do you always view the report for you team?
then go to settings
and add all your team members to "My Team Members" grid
dont forget to save the settings before you move on
move back to report
and you see the users are filled by default.
you may need to add / remove users for any changes from next time
Change the date range and see the report is generated for those users
Page settings have option to view this report in flat table form
or grouped based on user and date
and change the time format displayed in the report
Next we shall move on to "Custom Grouped" report
This report allows you to generate custom report using advanced JQL
or by using filters on custom any fields available in Jira
Add all the filters on which the report need to be generated
and see the JQL automatically generated for you where you can edit if needed
editing the filters again will reset the JQL again and your changes will be lost
"Display Settings" tab allows you to choose the fields to be shown in the report
and group based on it if needed
and also select the output format of the individual column
repeat the steps for each column
and choose different output format for each column
add all the required fields one by one and choose the output format of fields
Click on "View Report" button will generate report and display it below the filters
See the fields selected for grouping is shown with count of items below it
and rest of the columns being shown in different formats selected
You can also rearrange the fields by dragging and dropping it
you can add or remove fields when ever required
and also change the output format of each of the field
finally to avoid spending time in setting up the report
save the query with unique name and use it from next time
when you reload the report you can see the query still exists
just click on "View Report" button from next time to generate the report
to delete the old unwanted query created earlier
goto "Dashboard" menu -> "Page Settings"
and click to show the "Saved Queries" grid
from where you can choose to delete the existing quey
you can select and modify the existing "Saved Query"
and save it with a new name
or as a new query by selecting the checkbox "Create as a new query"
you can see the copy of the modified query getting saved with new given name
lets move on to few items remaining with "Settings" page
this page has option to change custom date and time formats to be displayed in tool
you can choose your normal working hours which will be used for worklog highlighting
similarly you have few more settings in "Worklog" and "Meetings" tab
just few more items to show and this point and lot more yet to be developed
Click on "?" icon from any of the page to show page specific help
and click on share icon to rate this tool in web store
or share it with others through social media like gmail, facebook, etc.
