So here's the thing, LinkedIn aligns perfectly
with Google's search algorithm.
What does that mean? It means that if someone
types your name into Google, your LinkedIn profile
is going to display at the top of the result.
So you want to make sure you use LinkedIn
to your advantage. So let's jump into how
you can use LinkedIn as a job seeker.
Tip 1 - complete all
major sections of your LinkedIn profile.
If you want LinkedIn to do the heavy lifting for you,
during your job search,
then you need to complete the major sections in your profile. This includes
a professional photo,
a headline, a summary, your work experience
section. If you have volunteer experience, that would be
fantastic. You want to add that as well and your
education. Now, don't try to complete
all of these sections in one day. This can be
very overwhelming. Break it down into doable
bit size pieces. For example, on day one,
make sure you have a professional photo uploaded
and create some type of catchy headline.
On the second day, compose a summary that showcases
who you are and provides and interesting narrative
of your career, and so on. Now to get
you started, make sure you take a look at the video I made, all
about LinkedIn for beginners. I'll go ahead and
link it up below. Tip number 2 - make your profile
keyword heavy. It's important to
tailor your profile to your desired position
and industry. Once you find a position that
really interests you. Incorporate the keywords
from that job posting in your
headline, your summary and your work experience
sections. Now every year, LinkedIn comes up with
a list of buzzwords that are overused in
profiles. Some of these words include specialized,
experience and motivated. Exchange these
words for key terms that are
more unique and grab the attention of the hiring manager or recruiter in a good way.
Tip number 3 is to let recruiters
and hiring managers know that you are
open to new opportunities. LinkedIn has a special
feature that will allow you to do this. You can
access this feature from the dashboard in your career interests
section. Now one of my favorite things about this section
is that you can let recruiters know what titles you're open to, how active
you are in your search and the
timeline for went you'd like to start your new position. Tip number
four is to make connections. The more
connections you have, the better your chances are of finding a
higher-quality career opportunity.
start by connecting with people you know personally and then
connect with people that maybe you haven't met in person yet
but that you have something in common with. When you make
a new connection make on LinkedIn, make sure you
customize your connection request. This is a must
on LinkedIn. This will lead to better and stronger
relationships, which in turn will lead to better
better and stronger career opportunities and
here's a little recommendation, if you have time and
you can, connection with 10 - 20 people day
until you build your network to a sizable
amount. Tip number 5 is to
use the Jobs feature. The great thing about the
Jobs feature in LinkedIn is that they make it so
easy to find jobs that you
might be interested in or that are a good fit for you.
You'll start by selecting the Jobs icon at the top of the
page. LinkedIn will display jobs that you
might be interested in first and if your scroll down
the page, they'll also display companies that
you might be interested in working for.
Now here's the cool thing, in the job search box,
you can actually search for any position or any title
that you think you might be interested in to get the information
that you need about the job, so that you can
apply for it. Now I have you covered when it comes to a
more detailed job search using LinkedIn.
I created a job search tutorial that will help you
pin point jobs that will fit you
and understand how to apply for them using LinkedIn
I'll go ahead and link that tutorial up

mini course. I'll go ahead and link it up below. The great
