Yo!
Welcome in a special video!
We'll be speaking today about scolar orientation
But before that, this video is in partnership with the Facebook Page: Lycéena (Link in the description)
And sponsored by a mobile app called: Amino.
What is Amino?
Amino is basically a bunch of forums. You can find the forum of Legends, Movies...(etc)
You can find me in the "Science and Culture" Forum!
The app is available on both iOS and Android, links in the description below.
Check this free app out, then tell me your opinions about it in the comments. And thank you! ♥
Let's get right into the video now.
Bring it in baby!
In Youtube, you'll find many (x7482) videos talking about Education and how the system is corrupted.
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
And everyone is just criticizing it like crazy!
They make it sound like the worst education system that ever existed is ours.
When a student actually watches these influencial videos, they feel down, they feels like they're going to fail no matter what
they feel as if they were the dumbest person on Earth
No, seriously, whenever one watches these videos, they'll just get bombarded with negative vibes.
I'll talk about all sorts of things related in this video (not only scolar orientation). So if you want to benefit from this video, you'll just have to stick to the end of it!
Let's go!
Recently, I posted a poll on my Twitter account: @KhormologiaTN (We're only 430 there... Some followers please!)
I asked you whether you found difficulties in your scholar orientation choice or not.
75% answered yes.
Of course, there was no doubt in the result!
Anyway, after this poll, I got a huge number of people asking me: "How do I choose?"
"What's the better section?"
"If I choose this section, will I fail?"
So I'm gonna take the chance of answering all those questions in this video, and I'll also speak about some side topics.
Let's make some things clear first: Why do we even study?
First, the education system doesn't aim to make you an Einstein in sciences.
Nope.
It aims to qualify you so that you can work in any company.
We can compare the Factory and the School.
Same uniform, timetable, work...(etc)
So the factory and the school are basically the same
In the factory, you make the product, whereas in school, you *are* the product.
You also have to know that the Ministry isn't the one that makes the education program
PEWDIEPIE: Hmm?
Yes, It is actually not the Ministry.
In fact, it's merely a bridge between the requirements of the local labor market, and the future employees, you.
In facts, these requirements are what determines what the student should and shouldn't learn.
The best example here is IT students:
They don't learn advanced programming languages like Python, C++ and others.
Not because they're stupid. It's because our labor market requirements are still low, and haven't matched up to the international level.
When you're just around the age of 14~16, you'll be asked to determine your fate and to choose the section that suits you.
Meanwhile you're still dealing with other problems like acnes (like the one I still have here)
and teenage problems like which team should you choose, and whether *she* loves you or not
KHORMO: Do you love me?
FEMALE KHORMO: Yes... you're like a brother to me.
*khormo dies*
All that and they still insist on making you decide your fate.
GTFO!
The problem is, in the context of Globalization and Internet
The goals and ambition of Tunisian students became higher than the labor market requirements
On a second hand, this system was put into application in 1950 or some time there, and it was never changed since then.
Meaning that the same old system of sections remained: Maths, Literature, Sciences, Economics
Of course, there were some slight changes, but everything's still the same
In 2018, this system has become very old and invalid for our era.
It's true that many other countries still go by it, like France, our neighbor.
However, recently, France has begun thinking in changing it completely.
And hopefully, Tunisia will copy its homework like it always does.
What's happening in developed countries?
(Like Canada, Norway, Japan... etc)
There, they use a system called: The Open Program.
PICKLE KHORMO: Eh?!
This Open Program allows the students to choose the subjects they study.
However, there are some limitations.
For example, the student must choose at least 3 science-related subjects, 2 Languages, 2 Art-related subjects, and 1 Sports-class.
That way, they have a whole catalogue/index of subjects they have to choose from:
MR VERY-HARD-TO-TRANSLATE RAPPER: History, Geography, Islamic Education, Civil Education, Arabic, French, English, Maths, Physics, Science, IT, Sports.
Finally, the student gets to choose the subject they want.
For example, I'm good at Maths and Physics, but bad at Science, so I choose these two, and leave Science behind.
I feel like studying French and English, so I choose those two; without having to force myself to study others.
And so on and so forth.
That way, we get rid of the "Section System", and we replace it with "Personal Table System".
In other words, every student gets his own timetable.
Otherwise, the student's energy would go in bulls*** and he would have to study things he doesn't want to study.
This is to allow students to study whatever they want, like fields they want to excel in, and to eliminate boredom and hatred against education.
Because there was certainly that one subject that made you hate everything about education.
It makes you hate revision, and going to school.
The problem is, even 10 or 20 years ahead of today, we won't have an open education system because of various other problems.
Also, the international labor market no longer wants people talented in only one field (i.e Good in only maths, or science...)
They want multi-talented people.
For example, good in all Maths, History, IT *and* English
But how am I going to adapt to the international system as a normal Tunisian student?
Here, there's a very useful tool you're always using for the wrong purpose:
The Internet.
On the Internet, you'll find websites called MOOCs
"Massive Open Online Courses"
There, you'll find a lot of formations, courses, informations...(etc)
For example, I personally had no clue about Astronomy.
So, in order to richen my knowledge, I used a website called "edX" to receive courses from a known college called "MiT".
At the end of courses, you'll have to pass an MCQ Skill Test, then you'll get a Certificate to prove your skill.
Big Company names in the world are already
PICKLE KHORMO: Are you out of your mind? You think all those school subjects aren't enough for our suffering?
But wait, if I'm going to study school subjects *and* other subjects at home, how am I going to organize my time?
For that, I suggest that you watch *this* video made by this perfect channel (link at the "i" above)
It will definitely help you organize your time.
You have to know that E-Learning AKA Electronic Learning is the future of the current school
PICKLE KHORMO: Oi Khormo, you've been blabbering for 7 minutes, and you still haven't answered the actual question: What section should I choose?
Now we get to the actual topic: How should I choose the right section for me?
For that, I suggest a method called: The method of the 3 Circles.
You need to draw 3 circles this way, each circle symbolizing something.
One for your ambitions
One for your skills
And one for your professional goals
At this part, you have to discover yourself by asking yourself a lot of questions:
Who am I, what do I want, what am I good at, what do I want to grow to be, what do I like, what are my talents... (etc)
Then, you put all the answers in their according circles.
Then, your choice will be there for you right at the middle of the 3 circles.
For example, I see myself comfortable while studying Maths, I'm good at it, and I want to become a mathematician
Hence, the section that suits me is the Maths Section which corresponds to the 3 circles.
Also, there is no such thing as a section being better than the other, they're all the same.
PICKLE KHORMO: Yep, they're all utter sh--
And like I already told you, the International labor market no longer cares about section X or section Y.
One other thing is that a person suceeding in one section doesn't mean you'll necessarily have the same success as they did
or if they failed, doesn't mean you'll have the same failure as they did.
A person dropped out of school but still succeeded in life doesn't necessarily mean you'll have the same success as them
or if they graduated and succeeded in their life doesn't mean you'll have the same experience as them.
There is no person like the other, every one has their own settings, talents, skills and/or what they're capable of doing in their life.
You're the one responsible for what happens in your life.
I advise you to choose something *you* want and believe in, because there is no one that will change that.
Following other people's opinions is only tiresome for you and you will not be able to realize your dreams.
You should choose what you actually want.
That way, any problem you'll face in your journey won't make you waver because you chose something you believed in.
And you'll always proceed forward in your career, never backwards.
*let's just say this is a reference, I won't explain it for... reasons.*
Also, you have to believe in our current educative system.
A lot of people studied with that same boring system, but they still achieved big milestones and they finished their educations at other developed countries like Microsoft, Nasa... (etc)
This means that you *can* be like them.
Anyway, you can tell me in the comments below what section you chose
I'll leave MOOC websites for you in the description below.
If you like the video, don't forget to share it with your friends, and to leave a thumbs up.
