Trump Wants SCOTUS Pick To Have Portfolio Of Academic Writing, Then Admits He Won't Read It - Duration: 4:38.

According to those closest to the President of the United States, he is actually going

to take his time, do some research, and pick the best person possible to replace retiring

Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy.

Although these aides also admit that, yeah, that's not really going to happen.

According to a recent article in the Washington Post, the aides who spoke with the Post said

that Donald Trump basically has three different tiers that need to be met for his next Supreme

Court nominee.

And the first one is actually the most troubling.

They said that Donald Trump wants his next Supreme Court nominee to present a portfolio

of academic writings so that the President knows that this person understands the law,

they know what they're talking about and he's not going to be made a fool of if he nominates

somebody because he's going to know that they know what they're doing.

The only problem is that the aides then said Trump has already admitted that he's not going

to read it.

So, basically, Donald Trump wants this person, whoever it may end up being, to submit a portfolio

of writing that he's then going to ... oh okay, well I can throw this away now ... What's

the point?

I mean, somebody could literally hand him just a packet of Marvel Universe fan fiction

and he wouldn't even know it because he's not going to open it.

That's what his own aides are telling us.

Now, of course, that is not the only criteria but that is just the first one.

First, you gotta hand Donald Trump a book, it doesn't matter if you actually wrote it

or if you just printed it off of Tumblr, whatever you want to do.

You give him a book and you pass tier one.

Tier two, he says that he wants somebody who is not weak.

Somebody who's going to fight back against the political establishment, fight for, I

guess, the underdogs.

So, does that mean that he's actually going to pick somebody who's going to challenge

the corporations that are destroying this country?

Because that's what it sounds like to me, but, what it really means is that Donald Trump

wants somebody just like him who says to hell with what people think, to hell with the Constitution,

I'm just going to write whatever kind of opinion I want because Donald Trump didn't read that

portfolio to realize I'm a complete moron.

Tier number three, and this is the final one.

He wants somebody who's going to interpret the Constitution the way the framers meant

it to be, which is actually really bad news for all of the Second Amendment rights people

because what the framers wanted the Second Amendment to be, what it was at the time they

wrote it.

So, you can have a musket that can shoot about one round every three minutes and is only

accurate if you're within about 15 feet of another human being ... and for the most part

they're completely non-lethal because of the inaccuracy of them and the less than stellar

fire power that they have.

So, hey, I'm all for that.

Let's get somebody who's going to take that Constitution right back to what it was on

that day when the framers signed it.

Let's do that 'cause that's perfect.

Now, of course there's actually a fourth tier as well.

A fourth tier that isn't necessarily one of Trump's but it's something he's done with

all of his other nominees, people he's put in his cabinet, whatever, and that is this;

Trump will be looking also for personal chemistry.

Central casting looks and relatable life stories.

So, Donald Trump is essentially casting a reality show at this point.

You have to get along with him even though this person gets a lifetime appointment and

Trump's probably not going to make it to a second term but you gotta be good friends

with him and, more importantly, good God ... you gotta be pretty, you gotta look the part,

right.

You gotta wear that black robe and have people say, wow, I wonder what's underneath that,

right, because that's what's important to Donald Trump.

He has made this entire process a complete laughingstock.

He is going to destroy the Court for a generation because he wants a pretty, but stupid, person

who will sit on that Court and be completely loyal to him.

That's what's so scary about this.

It's not just that we're going to get somebody who's a horrible conservative, but we're going

to get a horrible conservative who's going to do whatever it takes to make Donald Trump

happy.

President Trump Calls for 'Phase Two' in Effort To Give Back to Middle Class Families - Duration: 4:36.

Another tax cut is in the works, President Donald Trump said in an interview released

Sunday.

Trump spoke with Maria Bartiromo of the Fox Business Network on the show "Sunday Morning

Futures."

"We're doing a phase two," Trump said, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

"We'll be doing it probably in October, maybe a little sooner than that, and it'll

be more of a middle class — we did a lot for the middle class, but this will be even

more aimed at the middle class…

It's a great stimulus."

Late last year, Congress approved sweeping tax cuts that Trump had proposed.

On Friday, administration officials spoke about the impact of those cuts.

"We've had 1 million new jobs alone since the tax cut, 3.4 million since President Trump

was elected.

And it's not just the new jobs.

It's wages are going up.

Everyone is winning with these tax cuts," said Secretary of Labor Alex Acosta, according

to a White House pool report.

White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said that not only did the tax cuts spur the economy,

they created confidence among the American people.

"You talk about the metrics surrounding the tax cut, but it's the buoyancy, it's

the confidence that people are spending their money, they can make plans.

If there are more jobs available than job seekers, it gives you freedom.

You're not stuck in your job," Conway said.

Trump on Friday said that the work of his administration is not done.

"I just want everybody to keep up the great work, because common sense is being restored

in Washington again because hardworking Americans are in charge of their government once again.

Washington tried to change us, but that's not going to happen.

Instead, we're changing Washington and we're changing it quickly and for the better,"

he said, according to a White House media pool report.

"Six months ago, we unleashed an economic miracle by signing the biggest tax cuts and

reforms — I have to add the word 'reform.'

Very important word.

But the tax cuts is what got us there, and that's what's really doing it.

The biggest tax cuts in American history," Trump said, later adding that the result of

the tax cuts was, "six months of new jobs, bigger paychecks, and keeping more of your

hard-earned money where it belongs, in your pocket or wherever else you want to spend

it."

House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady, a Texas Republican, said that Congress

is already planning to consider legislation extending the tax cuts, which in the legislation

that was adopted would be phased out on 2025.

"I expect to see the legislative outline released in early August with votes in the

fall, depending on when leadership wants to schedule them," Brady said, according to

The Washington Post.

"I don't see it as one bill.

I see it as a package of two, three or four approaches, with permanency being one of them."

Trump also said during his interview with Bartiromo that despite the controversy his

trade policies are causing, the results show that the American economy is booming.

And one of the things I've been doing that you've been reporting on, though I'm not

sure if you're a believer but think you're getting there, look what's happening with

the steel companies," Trump said.

"They are expanding, they are going wild, and we need steel.

And we need aluminum, and we need solar panels.

You know the same thing with solar panels.

It was like a dead business, and we did a 30 percent tariff because they were dumping

all over the place.

And washing machines.

It doesn't sound very glamorous, but it's actually a very big business.

"But if you look at what's happened to steel and aluminum, we've practically built

a new industry in a period of four, five months.

It's incredible what's happening.

"But the big thing I'm focused on now is trade.

I have to straighten out trade deals…

As an example with China.

We don't even have a trade deal with China.

Nobody bothered to make a deal.

And they'll charge 25 percent for a car, and we charge 2.5 percent, and you've used

those numbers on your show, so I don't want to bore people, but we have a — we have

some of the worst trade deals in the world," Trump said.

Cortana: a digital assistant with personality and smarts - Duration: 3:51.

[MUSIC]

>> Hi there.

>> Play relaxing music.

>> Sure.

>> Remind me to text my mom in 15 minutes.

>> A digital assistant helps people get things done.

That's the defined value add

that digital assistant will bring.

But it also provides a personal understanding,

I wouldn't go so far as to say companionship,

but a lot of fun.

We are a group of writers that

is fortunate to be able to write

for Cortana, the digital assistant.

We get to write what Cortana says,

and in doing so develop who Cortana is.

We call that the personality of Cortana.

>> If I'm a good one. You'd never know.

>> When I first started working on Cortana,

I was working on Windows Phone,

and it was one of the features that

was going to ship with Windows phone.

We had a style guide,

a set of principles that we use to figure out how we

would write for the phone UI and for content.

I realized pretty quickly

that those same principles were not going to

work for writing for Cortana because

Cortana is in dialogue with you,

you're going back and forth.

We had already established at this point that

Cortana would be based

on this notion of a personal assistant,

and that was how we were

developing some of the features too.

So, I offered to go,

put together some principles,

just for writing for Cortana.

I started with this idea

of the personal assistant and built from there.

>> We wanted to develop a personality for

Cortana that felt great.

That felt like a device or

a piece of technology that you really

wanted to interact with.

We wanted her to not just help the user execute a task,

but also to do it in

a supportive and helpful way that felt really friendly.

So Cortana's early users actually had

a huge hand in

developing and helping develop her personality.

People were very curious about her.

They wanted to hear about her likes and

dislikes and preferences and things like that.

So now, she likes waffles.

She has ideas about things.

She has opinions and

that's something that users wanted from her.

They wanted a consistent firm personality.

So that's what we gave them.

So, one reason that my team exists is to make sure

that Cortana's responses are

empathetic and that they sound truly human.

>> As writers, one of the things we do is work

with design and engineering leads

on articulations of the future and what

Cortana might look like

three years from now, five years from now.

In the future, further on down the road,

Cortana won't just be your digital assistant,

she'll be a digital agent that helps you solve problems,

ask on your behalf

and augments your abilities and reflects who you are.

She'll also serve as

your natural language conversational interface

between you and the entire digital world,

and hopefully, you can delegate things to Cortana.

This should free us up

to spend less time looking at screens,

more time interacting with each

other and concentrating on what we love to do.

>> The point of it all is to make life easier for people.

We've created this experience we call

Cortana and she's personal and

relevant and she can

handle some of the busy work for you.

Some of the things in life that might get away from you.

Check it out.

Try some of these commands.

Try setting a reminder.

Check the traffic out.

Ask her to tell you something funny,

something interesting.

In the end, I hope,

the entire team hopes,

that Cortana can make your life a little bit easier.

>> Catch you later.
