THE Pixel 3 is one of the most eagerly anticipated Android phones on the horizon, and fans could
have one big reason to be excited.
Google may be fixing one of the worst features of the Pixel 2 XL with the upcoming Pixel
3.
The reveal of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL is months away but the upcoming Android phones
have been the focus of some eye-catching leaks.
It's expected that the Pixel 3 XL will boast an iPhone X style notched display while both
handsets are also expected to support wireless charging.
But there's one thing that is set to change that will be music to Pixel fans' ears.
The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL were critically acclaimed devices, with reviewers lauding
the handset's brilliant camera amongst other features.
But one issue that some reviewers had with the Pixel 2 XL was its screen.
At launch, the display of the Pixel 2 XL received criticism for having a blue shift that appeared
when users looked at the screen from an angle.
Other issues critics pointed out were potential image retention issues and muted colours.
As a result, Google extended the warranty of the Pixel 2 XL by a year and released a
software update to recalibrate the phone's colours.
The OLED for the Pixel 2 XL was made by LG, while the Pixel 2 wasn't affected by the
same issues as that OLED was made by Samsung.
Last year, for the iPhone X Apple used Samsung OLEDs for the handset's notched display.
But latest rumours claim this year the Cupertino-based tech giant could be moving to LG OLEDs, BGR
reported.
The reason this is significant to Pixel fans is if Apple are happy with LGs' smartphone
OLEDs, then the South Korean firm must have made big improvements to the display.
So the Pixel 3 XL should hopefully not be subject to the same display teething issues
the Pixel 2 XL experienced.

Today, some extra bits of information from my video about Chauvinism — and if you haven't
seen that yet, click on the card.
As we saw there the word chauvinism referred originally to excessive French patriotism.
Well, the parallel word jingoism referred originally to excessive English patriotism.
It first appears in the late 19th century and comes from the word jingo, as in by jingo.
Jingo seems to have been originally a nonsense word from the 17th century, used by magicians
in the phrase hey jingo to call for something to reappear, the opposite of hey presto used
when an object disappears.
But the word was soon adopted as a minced oath or taboo deformation of the word Jesus,
with by jingo being used to translate French Par Dieu "by God".
By Jingo became a common English interjection, and was later used in a music-hall song calling
for an aggressive military stance against Russia in the 1870s during the Russio-Turkish
war.
The chorus goes "We don't want to fight but by Jingo if we do, / We've got the ships,
we've got the men, we've got the money too, / We've fought the Bear before, and while
we're Britons true, / The Russians shall not have Constantinople."
Soon after the word jingo and jingoism were used to refer derisively to blustering patriots
and chauvinists calling for war.
