Washington, Beijing should resolve trade disputes through equal-footed consultations: China - Duration: 0:59.

China's trade talks with the U.S. have begun, giving hope that a potential trade war could

be staved off.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday,....

Beijing's foreign ministry spokesperson said America's approach to the meeting will determine

how productive they will be.

"As long as the U.S. is sincere about maintaining the long-term stability of China-U.S. economic

and trade ties and comes to the negotiating table with mutual respect and win-win results

in mind, then we believe that the bilateral consultation would be constructive."

The U.S. delegation, led by Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, will meet with Chinese Vice

Premier Liu He... to touch on bilateral trade and economic issues.

Negotiations are expected to be rocky.

A Chinese senior government official reportedly said,...

Beijing won't accept any preconditions from Washington for negotiations... while Trump

administration officials claim they already lowered their expectations for any breakthroughs

from the trade talks.

Seoul and Washington wrapped up their annual Key Resolve exercise this morning.

The two-week long combined drill began on April 23rd.

According to a South Korean military official... all operations have been completed.

Come Friday, the after-action-review of the exercise will be carried out.

On the day of the inter-Korean summit,... the computer-simulated training was halted

in line with the rare peace momentum between the two Koreas.

Considering the changing dynamics on the peninsula,... this year's Key Resolve didn't open its session

to the media,... and U.S. strategic assets like aircraft carriers.... were not mobilized.

Will rival parties be able to end parliament standstill any time soon? - Duration: 2:07.

South Korea's parliament has been at a standstill for over a month now, and there's little sign

of a breakthrough.

The opposition have been demanding the ruling party accept an independent probe into an

opinion-rigging scandal involving one of its members.

There's also the matter of ratifying the Panmunjom Declaration that came out of last week's summit.

Kim Min-ji has the latest from the National Assembly.

As to when the month-long paralysis at the National Assembly will come to an end, it's

still a question unanswered.

After the April parliamentary session came and went bearing no fruit... there've been

concerns whether the rival parties could get their acts together and convene an extraordinary

session in May.

Despite several meetings between the floor leaders of the major parties throughout last

month and even this week... they've been unable to reach an agreement to end the standstill.

Rival parties have been at odds over a number of pending bills,... as well as amending the

Constitution,... and most recently, they have been bickering over an online opinion-rigging

scandal involving lawmaker of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea.

On top of that, the main opposition Liberty Korea Party is also currently against the

ratification of the Panmunjom Declaration,... saying it will only consider the matter after

North Korea's summit with the U.S.

But for now, to get parliament moving again,... opposition parties for starters have demanded

that the ruling party accept an independent counsel probe into the opinion-rigging scandal.

While the ruling party has been reluctant thus far,... it has indicated that it may

accept the request -- but on two conditions.

First, that the main opposition support the ratification of the summit declaration...

and second, the passage of the government's extra budget bill that's been sitting at parliament

for a month.

But an agreement seems far away at this moment.

The floor leader of the main opposition party said that he would start a hunger strike indefinitely

until the ruling party accepts a probe with no strings attached.

The centrist Bareun Mirae Party has also called on the ruling party to make up its mind on

the matter by Friday... and if not, the party would take measures of its own.

Kim Min-ji, Arirang News.

Pompeo says North Korea must commit to immediate dismantling of its nuclear program - Duration: 1:48.

During his swearing-in ceremony at the U.S. State Department, Mike Pompeo promised to

not repeat the mistakes of past adminstrations.

The ex-CIA chief also highlighted the importance of immediately dismantling North Korea's nuclear

program.

Kim Mok-yeon shares with us his remarks.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has stressed that North Korea must commit to a swift dismantling

of its weapons programs.

Pompeo outlined his priorities while speaking at his ceremonial swearing-in on Wednesday,...

highlighting the importance of Pyongyang abandoning its nuclear weapons as well as its ballistic

missiles.

"We are committed to the permanent, verifiable, irreversible dismantling of North Korea's

weapons of mass destruction program and to do so without delay."

Pompeo,... who secretly met with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang in early April,...

also said that efforts to denuclearize North Korea are still in the beginning stages,...

with their outcome yet unknown.

He also stressed that the Trump administration is fully committed to solving the North's

nuclear issue.

"This administration will not repeat the mistakes of the past.

Our eyes are wide open.

It's time to solve this once and for all.

A bad deal is not an option."

Meanwhile,... the South Korean and U.S. military revealed on Thursday that movement has been

spotted at North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site, where the regime carried out a

total of six nuclear tests from 2006.

Intelligence sources say that activity at tunnel entrance number 3 suggests Pyongyang

could be signalling that it has started to follow through on Kim Jong-un's promise made

at the inter-Korean summit last week to shut down the test site.

This follows a report by CBS News on Wednesday that said North Korea has started removing

cables from the tunnels at the site, describing it as a first step to closing down the tunnels.

President Moon briefs top officials on outcome of inter-Korean summit - Duration: 2:29.

We begin with a luncheon at the nation's top office.

President Moon Jae-in invited four key political and government leaders to Cheongwadae... to

brief them on the results of the historic inter-Korean event, and also to fill them

in on his upcoming diplomatic schedule.

Hwang Hojun has our top story.

It was the first meeting of its kind since the historic summit between South Korean President

Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un,... and the third one since President Moon took

office almost a year ago.

The liberal leader pointed out that things have changed since then.

"We all met last July shortly after I took office, and we met again last October.

At that time, the security situation was pretty bad.

But it has improved to the point where the two Koreas have held a summit."

President Moon had initially invited the so-called "five next-in-command"... to the Thursday's

luncheon at the Blue House.

Those five are Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon ,... National Assembly Speaker Chung Sye-kyun

,... Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court Lee Jin-sung ,... head of the National Election

Commission Kwon Soon-il ,... and Supreme Court Chief Justice Kim Meong-soo .

But Chief Justice Kim Meong-soo is visiting Spain, Argentina and Chile, so he was unable

to attend.

During the 90-minute session, the officials were briefed by a top national security official

on the results of the summit... and actions to follow up on the Panmunjom Declaration.

According to the Blue House, National Assembly Speaker Chung noted that because both the

South Korean and U.S. presidents still have several years left in office, there's a much

greater chance the Panmunjom Declaration will actually be implemented.

The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court said he felt genuineness on the part of North

Korea as he watched the summit broadcast last Friday.

South Korea's Prime Minister praised the live streaming process, saying it amplified the

message of peace to the world.

And the National Election Commission chief said building trust is a two-way street and

that the two Koreas need to work together to gain each other's trust.

The menu for the lunch was the same as last Friday's dinner in Panmunjeom so Seoul's Big

4 could taste the dishes served at the summit.

President Moon insisted that North Korea is taking part in the summits with sincerity...

and accepting reality, unlike before.

He pointed out that Pyongyang is taking a leap of faith,... and said Seoul must seize

this once-in-a-life-time opportunity.

Hwang Hojun, Arirang News.

5 talking points from Roma 4-2 Liverpool (Agg 6-7) - Magnificent Mane as Reds do it the hard way - Duration: 7:13.

5 talking points from Roma 4-2 Liverpool (Agg 6-7) - Magnificent Mane as Reds do it the hard way

Liverpool are back in the Champions League final after beating AS Roma 7-6 on aggregate on a topsy-turvy night in Italy.

1. The difference in Mane.

The man of the match on the night, Sadio Mane was exceptional for the Reds all night long.

He was an outlet on the counter, a big threat heading toward the penalty box and scored the all-important first goal to settle any early nerves.

Manes strike was his ninth in the Champions League this season, equalling a competition record for the most goals by a player in his first 10 games.

An incredible performance—and it showcases how Manes form can swing wildly at times all based on how he fares with his first big chance of the game.

If he misses, he can lose his head a little, feeling the pressure to perform perhaps or being overly desperate to make up for fluffing his lines.

Hes a real confidence player in that regard and it can lead to poor decisions at times.

But not tonight, not in Rome.

Mane had one chance, finished it beautifully and was the best player on the park in white for the remainder of the match.

2. Never an easy ride.

It shouldnt be the case that, when leading 7-3, Liverpool fans still feel like the job isnt quite done.

Yet it was undeniably the case at the break that more people were talking about how one more goal would finally kill off the match, rather than accepting the Reds superiority meant theyd be going through.

Over the two legs, Liverpool were far better than Roma, certainly more than a single goal better, which is how it finished after an absurd late penalty.

There came a period a month or two back when Liverpool looked far better at seeing out games, far more composed at shutting down teams.

Perhaps its just the occasion, or the stadium, but that still gives Klopp something to work on.

The Reds never make it completely easy on themselves, but perhaps it didnt need to be quite this nerve-wracking in the end!.

3. Squad depth concerns.

Injuries have hit hard in the run-in and its beginning to tell: a little tiredness in some players and an inability to change the team around.

Look at the bench in Rome and it was clear Klopp didnt have much to turn to: backups and youth, no real rotation options.

Perhaps Adam Lallana coming back might aid that slightly, but its not too likely that Klopp will be able to shift his team around hugely.

That shouldnt be too much of an issue for the final, given its three-and-a-half weeks away, but the Reds have a big job on at the weekend first as they visit Chelsea.

These same players have to find a way to produce another big performance, find another telling result, and ensure they have no worries or concerns heading into the last week of the Premier League season.

4. A game of oddities.

Truly, this was a match when so many individual talking points arose that it would be remiss to not mention them at least in passing.

First, there was Gini Wijnaldums header—his first away goal in English football in any competition, his first away goal in around three years.

What a time and place to get it.

Secondly, the fact that a quite ludicrous 13 goals were scored across the two legs; no Champions League knockout tie in the history of the competition had ever seen as many.

Not just semi-finals, no knock-out tie at all.

Again, theres officiating calls to raise eyebrows at: a shove by Kostas Manolas not given as a Liverpool penalty, a handball by Trent Alexander-Arnold not given as one for Roma.

Then there were at least three awful offside calls given which stopped scoring opportunities—and another penalty—before the injury time insult was to give handball against Ragnar Klavan, with the ball chipped at him from about a metre away.

It wasnt a tie to miss, thats for sure.

5. Liverpool FC: Champions League finalists!.

Forget everything else, this is all that matters!.

After more than a decade away, Liverpool will be back in the Champions League final, against Real Madrid—a truly historic fixture of European royalty.

It speaks volumes of the work that Jurgen Klopp and his coaches have done that the Reds were nowhere near this level even a year ago, yet now they have a chance of being crowned the continents finest once more.

In Kiev, the Reds will march out, watched by the whole world, and put on a show of their own brand of football which thrills, entertains…and wins matches.

That will be the key, the be-all and end-all which can determine if the season is a successful step forward, or one which will live on in supporters memories for all eternity.

Take the songs and noise, the flags and banners, the dreams and memories…and bring back No.

How do Liverpool compare to Champions League final opponents Real Madrid? - Duration: 6:08.

How do Liverpool compare to Champions League final opponents Real Madrid?

Two of European football's most successful clubs will meet in the Champions League final when Real Madrid face Liverpool in Kiev.

The defending champions and 12-time winners Real are bidding for their third successive title while Liverpool are seeking their sixth in their history.

Road to the Final.

Zinedine Zidane's side won their first two games but a home draw with Tottenham followed by a loss at Wembley meant they finished second in their group.

Despite failing behind to Paris St Germain at the Bernabeu, they won 5-2 on aggregate in the last 16 then overcame an almighty scare against Juventus, advancing thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's last-gasp penalty despite a 3-1 home loss.

A semi-final first leg victory in Munich proved pivotal as a 2-2 draw with Bayern in Spain got them over the line.

Liverpool had to come through a qualifying round against Hoffenheim and then drew the opening two games in their group.

They also threw away a three-goal lead against Sevilla in a 3-3 draw but thumped both Maribor and Spartak Moscow to finish top of Group E.

They beat Porto 5-0 in the first leg of their last-16 tie, won both legs in the all-English clash with Manchester City and then saw off Roma 7-6 on aggregate following a 5-2 first-leg win at Anfield.

Star Men.

Real have the current Ballon d'or winner.

Liverpool may have the next one.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the Champions League's all-time leading scorer—with 120 goals, Real Madrid's all-time top scorer and a four-time winner of the competition.

Ronaldo, who turned 33 this year, has scored 42 club goals this season.

Yet Mohamed Salah has already exceeded that tally.

The former Roma winger has enjoyed an incredible first season at Anfield, becoming just the third player in Liverpool history to score 40-plus goals in a single season and winning a slew of personal accolades.

If he can outshine Ronaldo in Kiev, the ultimate individual prize may be next.

Managers.

Zidane and Jurgen Klopp have experienced contrasting fortunes in finals.

The former has won both of the Champions League finals he has been involved in as a boss.

Meanwhile, Klopp has lost his previous five finals as a manage, including in the Europa League against Sevilla two seasons ago.

Tactics.

Real have not been as dominant as previous seasons, when their BBC (Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Ronaldo) strikeforce was in full flow and Luka Modric and Toni Kroos ran the midfield.

This team is more pragmatic.

Centre-backs Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane and defensive midfielder Casemiro form a strong spine and Zidane can usually rely on Ronaldo for a moment of magic.

Klopp's gegenpressing style has been used to devastating effect this year thanks to the relentless front three of Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Liverpool will pin their hopes on that trio and their harassing style.

History.

This is a meeting of the two of the most decorated clubs in the competition's history.

No team has won more European Cups than Real Madrid's 12.

Los Blancos won five in a row between 1956 and 1960 and last year they become the first club to retain the title in the Champions League era.

Only Real and AC Milan have won more European Cups than Liverpool.

The five-time winners' most recent success came in an astonishing 2005 final against AC Milan, who exacted revenge in the 2007 final.

The Reds also beat Real in the 1981 final when Alan Kennedy scored the winner.
