November 23rd is a solemn day for South Korean citizens.
It was on this day, seven years ago, that North Korea bombarded South Korea's Yeonpyeong-do
Island.
Over 200 people gathered at Daejeon National Cemetery on Thursday for a commemoration ceremony,...
and heavy snowfall added to the somber atmosphere.
(Korean) "It's already seven years ago, but I remember
that day was very cold just like today.
Today we miss and pay respect to the two soldiers who died while carrying out their duty.
I hope the whole nation remembers them with one heart."
On November 23rd, 2010,... North Korea fired 170 artillery shells at South Korea's Yeonpyeong-do
Island,... located south of the Northern Limit Line, and 110 kilometers west of the capital
Seoul.
The attack left two soldiers and two residents dead, and 16 injured.
It also damaged military facilities and civilian structures.
(Stand-up) "Seven years have passed... but the bombardment
of Yeonpyeong-do Island is still vividly recollected and is seen as one of the worst inter-Korean
clashes after the Korean War."
The Marine Corps honored the brave deeds of the soldiers who fought this tough battle
against North Korea,... and promised to secure peace for the South Korean people.
(Korean) "Still, North Korea is raising tensions with
its unpredictable provocations and continuous nuclear and missile tests.
We, the Marine Corps, are well aware of the security situation,... and are maintaining
the highest level of military readiness to protect South Korea and the northwestern islands."
To remember this day, the Marine Corps also held a special drill on Thursday afternoon,...

honor guards, national anthems and children waving national flags of the two countries.
Meeting for their first bilateral summit ever... the two presidents still fairly new in office
noted their strong, mutually beneficial relationship that Seoul and Tashkent have been able to
build over the last quarter century.

partner in Central Asia.
South Korea is Uzbekistan's fifth-largest trade partner and its third-largest investor.
I believe the potential and possibility for greater development between our two countries

The Uzbek leader reaffirmed his support for President Moon's "New Northern Policy" which
is aimed at building an Eurasian economic community by boosting South Korea's ties with

resolution for peace and security on the Korean peninsula."
Concluding their first one-on-one, the two leaders signed a joint statement on comprehensive
development of the strategic partnership between South Korea and Uzbekistan... which outlines
a boost in relations in everything from politics and trade to culture and people-to-people
exchange.
That exchange was further highlighted during the state dinner hosted by South Korea's first
couple.
Guests and menu reflecting the popularity of South Korea's television series, "Dae Jang
Geum" and delegation represented by high profile ethnic
Koreans in the Uzbek community.

Kim Hyesung has an analysis of what's led to rosy numbers for that industry and what
lies ahead.
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix both posted record earnings in the third quarter thanks
to a boom in semiconductors.
The two Korean tech giants' semiconductor exports are expected to reach 90 billion U.S.
dollars for this year, accounting for 16 percent of the nation's total exports.
(Korean) "Prices of D-Ram and Nand flash, the two main
memory chip products, have doubled on-year as global demand exceeded supply, which has
been flat since 2015.
We've entered a supercycle, leaving more profits for the world's three main chipmakers, Samsung,
SK Hynix and Micron Technology, who make margins of around 50% on their chips."
(standup) "The global semiconductor industry is expected
to top 400 billion U.S. dollars for the first time ever this year.
With demand for smartphones, cloud servers still rising, global demand for DRAM chips
and Nand flash is expected to outpace supply, and according to IHS Markit, the boom is forcast
to continue until 2018."
To maintain its lead in the game, Samsung Electronics announced in July that it will
invest 27.6 billion dollars in semiconductors this year alone, doubling from last year's.
SK Hynix also raised its investment to over 9 billion dollars to expand its production
line.
But at the same time, China, which consumes more than sixty percent of the world's semiconductors,
is investing more than 100 billion dollars to become a global semiconductor power by
2025.
It will likely start producing its own memory chips by the end of 2018 and could upend the
supercycle.

This is how you work in 2/2 rib
To make 2/2 rib,
work two stitches as a knit, then two stitches as purl stitch,
repeat these four stitches along the row
Leave 2.5 metres of yarn loose before making the first loop on your needle
Next, cast on 30 stitches

When you have mounted your 30 stitches, you will be able to start your 1st rank
So, I start with 2 knit stitches
The yarn is at the back of the work
I insert my right-hand needle into the first stitch
under the left-hand needle
I wrap the yarn around the right-hand needle
I pull the yarn slightly to make the stitch
and left the stitch fall from the left-hand needle
Then, I work the 2 purl stitches
It is the same technique as the knit stitch,
except you have the yarn at the front of the work
and you put the right-hand needle into the stitch by passing above the left needle
Continue your row by alternating plainstitch and prulstitch
I started the row with two knit stitches
and will finish with two knit stitches
When on the wrong side of the work
I will start and end with two purl stitches
When you have finished your first row,
swap your needles over and continue in the same way,
and continue in the same way,
start with two purl stitches
The next two stitches are plain stictches, you are going to knit them plain
Continue your row by alternating plainstitch and prulstitch

Your cover should measure 83 cm long and 40 cm wide when the stitches are stretched out,
the dimensions should be tight on the cushion
Once all the stitches are pulled down(were reduced), leave approximately 1 meter of thread
Darn in all of the ends except the cast on end and the cast off end

Fold the rectangle in half,
so that the two right sides are touching
Sew the two short edges of the seam
using a back stitched seam, using the cast on yarn
Put the back stitch between the 2 layers
and come out 2 stitches further along the work
Ensure that the ribs face each other so that there is no offset in the seam
Once you have finished your stitch back stitch, cut the thread and turn the pillow
The two other edge seams will be worked using an invisible seam
You should have enough yarn left from the cast on yarn to sew one seam
